We stumbled into this place amazed by the kimono display when Jun welcomed us, guided us to the back of the store and proceeded to take out beautiful silk kimonos and show us the process of making them, including ancient drawings from their archive!
They've been making kimonos for 500 years and make the kimonos worn by the Geiko in Kyoto. These garments were worth more than a house and we got to appreciate them up close and even touch them. It was incredible and better than a museum!
Jun was incredibly welcoming and also spoke perfect English. An excellent person! At no point did we feel pressure to buy anything. Jun was genuinely eager to share his knowledge of traditional Japanese crafts. As a thank you for his generosity, we did get two archival prints which were affordable. Honestly, we would have gotten more if we had the budget. Jun gifted us with the highlight of our whole trip!
Definitely worth making the time for a visit!
