Chitosetsuru Sake Museum is a small museum located in central Sapporo, connected with one of Hokkaido’s oldest sake breweries, founded in the 19th century.
The exhibition gives a basic introduction to sake production, showing traditional tools and explaining the brewing process in a simple and accessible way. One of the most interesting parts of the museum is the collection of old photographs – they show how sake was produced in the past and how people used to enjoy drinking it, offering a nice glimpse into local history and everyday life.
We came here hoping to taste different kinds of sake, but unfortunately there was no real tasting option available, which was a bit disappointing. Instead, the museum offers a small café where you can have coffee or try sake-flavored soft ice cream. The ice cream was nice, but nothing particularly memorable.
The main attraction is the shop, where you can buy various types of Chitosetsuru sake, including some bottles that are difficult to find elsewhere.
Admission is free, and the location is convenient, not far from the downtown.
