Google
..ill still leave my 5 stars because i loved the first one.. and the staff..coffee is tasty too ❤️ But the update is....they changed the buns on the egg sandwich. 😔 Now hopefully it will get sorted. As the new supplier is a sesame bun. Which is fine. But twice the bottom bun was hard in one spot. And cumbling stale all over dry. Top is meh...but did the job. Never realized how much it affects such a delicious sandwich. But it does... they remade it, very kind. But the second one sadly the same. So not a huge deal. Just awareness. Cook needs to be visually and maybe physically touching the buns before they go out. It just made it so dry. And checking shipments when delivered. Making sure it's to Chix standard. Or I hope the local bakery makes a brioche I'd vote for that. Before it felt like $9 was worth it. I'm sad I didn't take a Pic of the first one to compare visually for everyone. It was so divine I ate it too fast. Wasn't thinking review or photos. Lol Either way still recommend! Absultelyc Other fab options. I'm just sad because I loved that first egg sandwich and bun so so much. I had been craving it. Original review: Has been a while since I kept considering to stop in and try! Tiny Update.... I read somewhere they use Devils Head coffee, a local yyc roasters for those who don't know...but found out later this location uses Umbria a Canadian Commercial Roaster but not the extra local Devils Head Calgary - I will have to confirm if that's now changed permanently ? darn ... umbria is pretty tasty but I definitrly was more excited and proud if it was devils head. Besides coffee I had the egg sandwich it was super tasty, good portion of egg, soft bun, the curd melted/fried up brown and melted was amazing. The dill dip I got on the side but is addicting and would go super well with the potato wedges. Love it! I just was too full so maybe those next time. Service was lovely. Ira, is wonderful! The process is to order and pay upfront etc and they bring to you which is fine with me, Ira was hustling! Running the show by herself and don't we know /those who have served- what it's like caring for so many ppl, and she was just fabulous, efficient, calm, fast. And so friendly; a rarity. She genuinely cares about your experience. Use to be like me when I served and often goes unnoticed, so when I see that level of service, plus care with a smile I make sure I give a special shout out to praise it! Because I tell you so many places big small restaurants or coffee shops some ppl just don't care anymore. I think my only suggestion would be to consider bringing the wedges price down a tiny bit in price. So if the margin is there I'd say try that and see if it pays off with more sales ...theyd be sooooo delicious with the dill dip. But If not all good. And of course Bring back Devils head if it was here? And could be possible lol 😆 I'll be back of coufse and do recommend!

Really nice place to get ready for your next adventure. I got started here with a latte and the chicken and waffles with spicy option. The wait staff noticed that I did not finish the chicken. I look like someone that would finish his plate. I mentioned the meat was dry and was overcooked. She asked so I offered my critique. I was not looking for a freebee, but she did send me off with a new latte.

First time at Chix eggshop. I had the hot chix sandwich. Overall I would say it was just ok. Bun was not tasty, the pickles were good, the chicken itself was small, not a thick piece of chicken. It didn’t seem like they really basted the fried chicken in hot sauce either, it was just poured on. Not bad but not great either. They have room to improve.

My first time in CHIX Eggshop I ordered a classic chicken and waffles, which is named CHIX Waffles on their menu. Alongside the first order, I added potato wedges on the side. The seasoning on the potato wedges were delicious! The diner has a calm atmosphere, there was barely anybody there, which I think introverts would like to dine. The second time I went to this diner, I had Bella Benny. The hollandaise was delicious! The only regret I had was that the bacon underneath the two sunny-side up eggs became soggy. All in all it was a hearty breakfast for me! After breakfast though, I discovered a lounge inside. Hang out there for quite a while. No one bothered me which was cool. There is also a billiard table in the lounge, though I don't know if it's free for anybody to play.

Popped in on a Saturday and there were tables open, we had a great causal breakfast complete with table games and endless coffee. Appreciated the order up front approach, made for a stress free brunch for myself with the kiddos.

First time at Chix Eggshop and wow!! The place is warm, fun and very welcoming. Big windows providing lots of light and fabulous music. Ira greeted us with a smile and helped us pick great menu options. The place has games and colouring books great for kids! The food came out insanely fast and delicious, made by Marilyn! I had a twist on a Benedict as it was made with classic bacon and served on a croissant instead of English muffin, it was fabulous. I had a French vanilla latte and that was delicious, definitely recommend. Throughout our experience we were checked on by Ninar, who did not only go above and beyond for a fantastic experience but also was fun and great to socialize with. The team at Chix is superb and I would recommend this place to anyone.

I really really wanted to love this place, but my experience was "meh." The California Chix sandwich had fresh ingredients and the chicken was tender...but overall bland. (I think it used to be called a "Plain Jane," now with avocado...but the former name nailed the apparent "no seasoning allowed" dish.) Cole slaw also lacked anything interesting...fresh ingredients with a light citrus dresing...but ultimately tasted like unseasoned cabbage. Everything was fresh, and prepared so simply as to defy interest.

Came to Chix Diner 2/3 days we stayed at The Alt. The staff were very nice, the food however was just okay. One the first day, my spouse and I ordered different dishes, i had the avocado toast which was fine but a bit bland. my spouse had ordered the classic chix but the dish was missing the side of avocado. on the second morning we both ordered the breakfast poutine, it was tasty but they both came with chicken in them which wasnt advertised as being a part of the dish, thankfully neither of us are vegetarian. The breakfast poutine was pretty good besides that. might be worth working on dish accuracy.

Yelp
Giant portions and good flavours! I don't see what the complaints are all about, its great value and the service was fast and pleasant. The restaurant is cute and bright.

Yelp
Travel Adventures Brunch Edition When we found out we had to stay in Calgary overnight while waiting for our flight to vancouver we didn't think we would have one of the best brunches we've ever had. Both dishes & our iced coffees were 10/10 and the staff was friendly & warm. We had: Iced Latte Chicken & Waffle $19.99 Eggshop Poutine $15.99 Food 10/10 Service 10/10

Yelp
Great food. Great staff. Really feel at home and welcomed. The food is comforting, generous, and completely unpretentious. This IS breakfast without the drama or pageantry of brunch. Have been back many times and will go again many more times...

Yelp
Not sure why this place is rated 2/5 stars. I eat here every time I stay at the ALT, and it is a treat! Staff is friendly, breakfast sandwiches are great, you must try the Cheese Louise.

Yelp
Too pricey. Unfortunate flavour. Small dish and separated costs of sides with $$$$$$$$$$$$ is nonsense. Coffee is NOT serving to you at all. You get your cup and pour it yourself.

Yelp
This review is strictly on food and pricing as the new year rush was unexpected. We came to eggshop on new year's day as we stayed in Alt hotel. We decided to give eggshop a try since we have never been there before instead of our regular OEB/Blue Star Diner/diner deluxe. We ordered the hot chix sandwich, California sandwich, side of breakfast potatoes, endless drip coffee, and tea. Our total almost came to $40 give or take. Food was average and was not something memorable for a $14 sandwich. The price is outrageous. For everything. Coffee. Tea. Sides. Sandwiches. Everything is way over priced for what it is. I would recommend that eggshop add a free side of breakfast potatoes to our $14 sandwich. Our side potatoes itself was 4 dollars. a small portion.. light seasoned for 4 dollars. I dont expect it will decrease eggshop revenue if they included it in the sandwich meal. Overall, I would come back only if pricing was fixed but there is way better options just minutes away. Stick to fast food breakfast for half the cost for similiar taste and experience.

Yelp
Was very excited to eat here as I'm a super big fan of charcut. After viewing the menu I found it disappointing they didn't have much in the way of breakfast options. I decided on the hot chicken sandwich. When I asked if it came with a side I was shocked when they said it didn't and for 13.95 it seemed over priced but hey I'll give it a shot. I got the breakfast potatoes as a side for an additional 3.95. The front counter girl was very unhelpful and didn't even seem like she wanted to be there. Not a good first impression. As I watched them prepare the food I noticed a coupe things I didn't like. 1. Potatoes were frozen and came from a bag in the freezer. 2. Cook (who looked unkept and sweaty) kept touching forehead and not washing hands. When food arrived the sandwich was drowned in Franks Red Hot sauce. It wasn't listed on the menu as an ingredient so I was a little unhappy about it. The celery slaw was literally giant dried chunks of celery with some mayo. I actually removed it. Chicken looked precooked and was dry and somewhat flavourless other than the burning hot sauce. Breakfast potatoes were so so. Nothing amazing there. The plate the food was served on was also dirty and had some sort of fuzz or lint on it. This place leaves a lot to be desired and I hope they really consider revamping the menu and the way they cook the food. It's not even close to charcut level and the people behind me also were complaining amongst themselves at how basic and uninspiring it was too. There is a lot of quality breakfast places in Calgary and they don't even compete. I was never asked once by the staff how I liked the food. The only positive I can give is the decor was nice and was very bright inside.

Yelp
I was super excited to try Chix Eggshop after seeings pics of the new spot online! Walking in, the interior of the restaurant is welcoming and bright, with a decent amount of seating. Food: 2.5/5 - We tried the hot chix sandwich, the california chix, cheese fries, and skillet fried falafel. The price is quite high for what you get overall. The hot chix wasn't tossed in hot sauce and was not spicy at all. For $14, the sandwiches just weren't worth it, especially since they don't come with any sides. The cheese fries were TERRIBLE, definitely skip!!! $7 for fast food quality fries topped with cheez whiz. The menu is interesting and has potential (I really like that there are multiple sandwich options), but the quality is not really there yet. Service/ambience: 3/5- There was nothing glaringly bad about our experience, but also nothing that would make me want to come back. You order and pay at the counter and the food gets brought to your table, so we had minimal interaction with the staff at all. Water is self-serve and when we went, there were no refills on coffee (which is $3.75 so you'd think refills were included). The cutlery is in a container on the table and ketchup was offered in packets like at a fast food restaurant. All in all, I didn't mind any of these things, but it felt like a fast food experience at a premium cost. Overall, there's definitely potential, but my experience doesn't have me excited to eat here again.

Yelp
We just ate here this weekend and, man, was it underwhelming. The menu online was not what was available once we arrived. The Miss Piggy sandwich was small and came with no side(s) despite being $$$. The chicken and waffles was $20 and consisted of one waffle, some butter mixed with Frank's Red Hot (really?) on the side and what can only be described as 5 chicken nuggets. Talk about a let down... Our first clue to this place being disappointing was that there was one other couple in the whole place during peak breakfast hours. The woman that took our order was extremely polite, but that's where the positives end, sadly.

Yelp
The atmosphere is great. Very bright with beautiful furniture. The staff are welcoming. There's a self-serve coffee counter with good coffee. The food was good and yummy. We both ordered plates, but they came in very deep bowls, which was hard to eat. It would be good if we had a toast or a bun on the side. Our total experience was great, though.

Yelp
Had really high hopes since I love Charcut. Chix was disappointing- great staff and atmosphere but the food isn't worth what they charge. You can't always bank on loyalty from one restaurant to the next, $13.95 for a sandwich is a bit much. Won't be back unless they change things. We got the hot chix, the falafel plate and a 'grilled cheese' for our son mentioned by another reviewer below. Can you believe our bill was almost 50 with tax and tip? Not sure why we tipped since it was self serve. The 'grilled cheese' was just 2 pieces of bread with cheese, very basic and after doing the math, they charged us about $12 for it. I can get a full kids breakfast for my son at Reds Diner for 6.99 ‍

Yelp
I was excited to try Chix Eggshop after hearing so much about it. The restaurant itself is bright, cheery and comfortable. We were greeted upon arrival. One of the staff members, upon noticing we had children, mentioned there was a grilled cheese sandwich available for kids (not on the menu board). As it was only 10:00 am, we were disappointed that there were no breakfast options for children at all. We decided to order two breakfasts and "share" with the kids from our own plates. While ordering, we asked a couple of questions about the menu items and were met with a blank stare and sarcasm from the cashier. It wasn't appreciated, but decided to brush it off. We ordered the Classy Chix Breakfast which includes Eggs, bacon, potatoes and a slice of toast. The French Toast Pie did not include any sides, so we ordered some bacon and breakfast potatoes to accompany it. Coffee did not include refills, and juice was offered in a bottle-much like a fast food restaurant. We were given a number and asked to find a seat. Our coffee was brought to us in paper cups and we were informed that cream and sugar were "around the corner". Water was self-serve. Our food came and our breakfast potatoes were noticeably over-seasoned. Bacon was very crisp. And the French Toast Pie was just that-a Pie slice slices of French toast on top of a custard layer. Ketchup was offered in little packets. Upon first bite, all we could taste was salt. Everything was salty. The potatoes. The bacon. And even the eggs were salted. The eggs were overdone and greasy. The French Toast Pie was incredibly sweet(no syrup needed). No one checked on us after the food was brought to us even though there were only two other people in the restaurant. We couldn't finish any of the food as it just was not edible. Overall, I was very disappointed in my experience. I will not return and would rather spend my driving time and money on other breakfast spots nearby.

Yelp
Great location in east village, but I'm afraid the wow factor stops there. I have been there twice, the food is decent, nothing exciting, however sidewalk citizen around the corner is the much preferred choice for breakfast. I gave this place three stars due to the lack of service, only 2 people, given paper cups for coffee as they ran out of ceramic mugs (it wasn't busy, glad it wasn't paper plates!), and we had all asked for hard eggs and we all got runny eggs (6 of us). Will this place stick around in 2020 who knows, but I won't recommend it to friends, when my experience in the Simmons building is always top notch, including tasty food and service.

Yelp
Finally tried out Chix Eggshop! We tried the Ms. Piggy (which was like a BLT with an egg on a bun), the Hot Chix (a Nashville hot chicken sandwich with coleslaw) and breakfast potatoes with nacho cheese sauce. Ms. Piggy had a boatload if bacon on it and was delicious! The Hot Chix had delicious, real chicken breast meat on the sandwich but it was not tossed in sauce like a true Nashville chicken sandwich usually is, just sauce on top. Would have been not just good but great if the whole breast was sauced. The breakfast potatoes were a bit of a disappointment. They weren't quite cooked through and were a bit crunchy inside still. The nacho cheese was just what you expect...delicious! Finished with a 1/2 pound chocolate chip cookie for dessert. Was a little too over cooked for our tastes but the chocolate was high quality and the middle of the cookie that was soft was quite delicious! The edges were pretty crunchy and browned but definitely a novelty to get a cookie this big! When paying for the meal by debit you are presented the screen on their tablet that gives you 3 different tip options which is awkward considering it's a self serve counter. There may have been a way to opt out but it wasn't clear on the screen when you're trying to pay with a line behind you. The owners were circulating around the restaurant and the people working there were extremely polite. Will probably give this place another shot!

Yelp
I was also really excited to eat here. It was a huge let down. The sandwiches were small, think buddy burgers from A&W at premium cost. small portion of fries with cheese.. 7 dollars?!.. I would never recommend this place as there are way better sandwich shops in town. Interior was nice and quint - but thats about it... I would give it a big Pass

Anita M.

Yelp
Food was ok, but underwhelming for the prices. Not sure if we'd return. Had higher expectations for sure.

Yelp
Be prepared to be over charged, underwhelmed and to serve yourself. Cute space though.

Yelp
damn good fried chicken i dont know what they sold before but the fried chicken is damn good
