Where to Eat, Drink, and Stay in Zipolite, Mexico's Coolest LGBTQ-friendly Beach Town

"Opened in 2018 as Zipolite's first official queer bar, ChiZme became the small, safe gathering spot I had wanted for the LGBT community; its owner Vincente says he originally planned a queer coffeeshop but, because of the heat, it quickly became a bar. I appreciate that it has moved into a larger space and is widely regarded as the go-to place for drinks and good company in town, and its proximity to the Adoquín makes it part of Zipolite's queer history." - Kyle A. Nice bar more aimed to relax and chill to come with friends, couple or to meet new people. They have a play room in the back. They some nude art with is interesting. The entrance is by Casa Nudista at the end of the alley you’ll see the color lights in the entrance. The service was very nice and friendly, they offered us a welcome shot of tequila and from 8pm is 100% nude.

This was one of the most unsure places I've walked into (as a straight couple). The reviews previously indicated that they were hostile towards straight people, and my fear is that this was a location for gay persons only, and our presence would infringe upon their safe space. Once we opened the gate, we were so wrong. It was a quiet evening, and we sat by ourselves at a table. The staff immediately walked over, explained the venue (explained that tonight was clothing optional, but other nights were naked mandatory), and gave us a drink menu. Honestly, the drinks we had were mediocre (likely our fault for what we ordered), but the entire experience was one that I wish we did much earlier. The staff kept walking over to us, checking in, and having really great conversations. We stayed clothed (as did the staff), but felt no judgement or concerns at all. We ended up leaving after one drink (I think I had too much sun that day), but wish we stayed longer and saw the bar when it was busy. Can't wait to go back!

Really wonderful little gay bar in Zipolite. The owner, Vincent, is an incredible human. He greets everyone and is happy to have a conversation. The bar itself is also really beautiful. Vincent built it himself and you can tell his personality through the art. It’s quite small so it can get crowded, but it’s worth a cocktail to start. Be aware that it closes promptly at 11pm so get there before last call!

This was our favorite after dinner hangout. It’s down a little side street, you have to push the door and walk in to get down to the bar. You are going to feel like you are in a jungle. Even if there are just a couple of people, it’s worth it as Vincent, the owner, who dresses like a shaman, is so warm and welcoming and makes fantastic drinks. He has great mezcals as well. The bar area is so uniquely decorated too. It feels like you are on the inside of a disco ball. We will definitely be back.

This place was the first gay bar to open in Zipolite many years ago, and it has this authentic vibe that you can only find when a place is truly genuine. Vincent, the owner, is a fantastic barman & host, so friendly and charming, what a nice evening we spent there! We were drinking good quality mescal and having lots of fun. The decoration and the ambient is amazing. We would definetly come back! Keep it up.
