Chobe Bush Lodge

We have stayed at several high-end lodges and this Chobe lodge had some very strong positives but also a few disappointments for something I. This price range. The positives: the location is great, on the river and near game park. We saw close up elephants crossing the water. We saw a leopard. Also, we really enjoyed the breakfast and dinner but the lunch a la carte on the day of arrival was surprisingly disappointing. The main lodges are similar to in other places, spacious and open air. The room we had was large but quite seriously in need of an update. It felt like a mid range hotel room in the 1970s. Also, unlike in other high end lodges, where we would receive treats like a bottle of wine, sweets etc, here we got a bottle of water. The charging set up was also under dimensioned for the modern traveler. The info mentioned a coffee machine but none in our room. There was a tea maker you could use but you had to unplug the fridge.

My husband and I began our official first time Africa safari tour with a tour group and this was our first location for three nights. It was an ideal start and we were more than happy with our accommodations. Our group was located in B rooms so part of the Bush Lodge (not the Safari side). We were still able to utilize the Safari side’s amenities especially the pool and amazing restaurant that overlooked the Zambezi River. Well appointed room with mosquitos netting, spacious interior and patio, and extremely comfortable bed and bedding. Plenty of friendly and professional staff to address any needs. I wanted to specifically praise the delightful server, Dorcus, who was superbly attentive to our large group’s different requests and needs. She was highly professional, kind, very patient and always wore a genuine smile. We miss her already. Secondly, Lebo, the guest manager was on top of every activity, meal, schedule that was coordinated with our tour manager. Kudos to the staff! I would highly recommend this Lodge!

We were 2 nights at Chobe Bush Lodge. The service and the rooms were both exceptional. Our package deal was full board with 2 game drives and 2 boat cruises. The meals (variety and quality) were excellent, though I would add that the choice given for breakfast was absolutely amazing.||The boat cruises are amazing and not to be missed. We were in the dry season and the amount of animals that we saw on the Sedudu island was unbelievable.||It is a 10min drive to the entrance of the Chobe NP so the location of this lodge is very good.

The Chobe Bush Lodge was exceptional in every way. Of all the lodging experiences we had in Africa, this was the best. The setting is wonderful and natural; the lodge and tents are stylish and luxurious; the wildlife encounters are unforgettable. A special shout out to our bartender, Charles!

We stayed at Chobe Safari Lodge and found their new Riverside Restaurant absolutely wonderful. The view, the food and the service was excellent. Our Bush Rooms were spacious and beautifully furnished with views of the wild animals at the water hole daily. Thank you for this exceptional experience.

As part of a small group travelling with Jules Verne I stayed here for 3 nights. It was a very pleasant and informative experience. Special thanks must go to Selelo who co-ordinated our whole stay. Nothing was too much trouble for her and she was professional and friendly the whole time. ||The Chobe Bush Lodge is on the banks of the River Chobe and the grounds have plenty of wildlife roaming - baboons, monkeys and the gorgeous warthogs in particular. There are warning notices that crocodiles can be found sometimes by the water edge! ||The food is good, particularly breakfast and the dinners in the outside grill restaurant. The nearby cocktail bar on the riverbank is also fantastic and a good place to see the sunset. There is an al a carte menu for lunch and as a vegetarian I found that a little restrictive and not quite up to the standard of the other meals. ||We had some amazing game drives with Samson - we had him for the first trip and was able to request him for those that followed. We also had a trip on the Chobe River which surpassed all expectations. The guide was, I think, called Senior. He was very knowledgeable and we learnt and saw a lot. It was very clear that he was very respectful to the animals, possibly more so than some other boats on the river at the same time. ||Very comfortable bed, but there were one or two holes in the mosquito net. I kept forgetting to report it - there were virtually no mosquitos evident during our stay.||Thanks to all at Chobe Bush Lodge.

We used the boat trip services of this lodge whilst camping at a nearby site. The lodge offers excellent facilities and looks exactly like a bush lodge should. Large timber frame with thatched roof. Which houses the main services, check in, office, bar and restaurant, toilets and swimming pool etc. There is a second restaurant and bar by the Chobe river dock, which is where the boat trips operate from. The main restaurant offered us a table for 8 and all our meals were excellent in taste and quality. I can definitely recommend this place👍

The activities were great and the dining was very good. Unfortunately, our room was badly in need of a thorough cleaning and the bathroom desperately needed updating. The 4* rating is an average of 5* activities, 4* dining and 3* rooms. |The property is much larger than it appears, as the Bush Lodge, Safari Lodge and River Lodge are all together. It is a bit chaotic when the game drives depart and at breakfast when everyone gets back at approximately the same time. The restaurant staff handles it very well, though!|Chobe is a spectacular place, but be prepared for crowds. Our guide, Aaron, was amazing. We would ask for him again.
