We did the chocolate history and chocolate making class. Our host has an amazing base of knowledge and is fun and engaging. When you sign up for this one, come prepared to grind your own beans (or seeds technically). The class lasted just under two hours and you’re offered multiple chocolate/cacao drinks, and two rounds of tasting including the tasting of the chocolate that you yourself will make. Very fun small group or couples experience

Chocolate Ambassade, Kraanlei 3, Ghent, Belgium. We wanted to do a Chocolate Tasting. We got a list of potential shops for tastings and we walked all over town. At every shop we were looked at like we were nuts. As the last shop turned us away, a customer took us aside and whispered that we should go to Chocolate Ambassade, which happened to be back across town, RIGHT next to our hotel. It looks like it’s closed, but it isn’t. Just open the door and go in. There were 3 levels of tastings. We went for the top level, called The Best of Bean-to-Bar and we’re glad we did. It’s not something you rush through, it took a bit of time. It was VERY educational and fun. The proprietor took us through everything step by step from the fruit to the chocolate. At each step he gave us something to taste. My favorite was the cacao pulp juice which was really fruity. I also got the “iced tea” which was also chocolate, which was really different and really good. At one of the stages, he gave us 3 different chocolate samplings from 3 different countries and all were VERY different. This was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend it. But don’t go expecting a quick tasting. If you get the Best of Bean-to-Bar plan 45 minutes to an hour. It’s a full experience. If you order the other tastings, it will be faster, but we really recommend the Bean-to-Bar for the most memorable experience.

What a FABULOUS GEM we found! My husband found the chocolate experience class online while looking for activities while on vacation. I LOVE chocolate so we decided to take this class. It is the highlight of my time in Belgium. Liu (owner) is amazing. He worked with us when we had travel hiccups! He kept my attention during the class and we learned SO much. I am so excited to make yummilicious QUALITY chocolate with my family and have some tea! If I make it to Belguim again, I am definitely stopping by. I also love that they work with local chocolatiers. I can't wait to find a bean to bar chocolatier when I get home. Thank you for an amazing time!

We booked the chocolate tasting experience for my birthday and it was incredible. We learned so much about how chocolate is produced and its history. Lui is a fantastic teacher. He prepared for us a gastronomic history journey, as well as an interactive tasting challenge. We learned about how different fermentation and techniques affect flavor, and how to taste chocolate. It was a joyful and enlightening experience

This chocolate tasting experience was exquisite. We had the classic and seasonal selection with chocolate liqueur and hot chocolate with liqueur in it. Beautiful, relaxing atmosphere with gentle music background. Highly recommended.

Lovely tasting chocolates, I tried the classic tasting menu and they were all very nice. Pretty small shop with very friendly service. Recommend and would love to visit again.

I did the chocolate history class and needless to say it was my favorite thing I did in Ghent. The owner was so nice and the class was very interesting! I got to try different chocolate drinks throughout history and make my own chocolate bar, which was so much fun! I highly recommend this to anyone visiting Ghent if you’re into chocolate (and who isn’t?) and looking for a unique experience!

We did the "The Best of Bean-to-Bar" chocolate tasting here and what a cool experience it was - not only did we taste some delicious chocolate, but also got to taste a drink made of cocoa fruit, their own chocolate liqueur and some chocolate tea. It was mostly focussed around dark chocolate which we appreciated (there were other tastings focussed more on bonbons too which we didn't try though). The host was very knowledgeable and friendly too. We liked it so much we came back on our last day in Ghent to have one of their hot chocolates which we also loved! Highly recommend this for any chocolate lovers who want something a little different.
