"Whether you have your laptop or a paperback, this is a great coffee shop to take a sip and stay awhile. There's plenty of outlets and seating, as well as a conference room in the back. Find inspiration in the coffee cup artwork and let your creativity flow with the free chalk and wall-size chalkboards. In addition to varied drink choices, there's a wide selection of cakes and snacks to try." - Liz Shinn & Mike Rivera

I ordered a mocha coffee today but unfortunately they just add milk and chocolate and forgot the shot of expresso. I called and they ask me to return but I couldn’t as Im at work and I didn’t want to take another 20 min of my day. I took the picture when I ordered my coffee but unfortunately when I opened my coffee half of the milk steamed milk was gone. They mentioned the shot of coffee was added but that its not the case I drink coffee every day and I know how does coffee taste. I would just like a refund. My coffee went straight to the trash as it was no drinkable as it just taste like sugar without coffee.

Google
SAM’s CLUB DESSERTS? REALLY? $7.5 for 20 Oz Ice Latte? The beans were roasted so much. I am sorry but it was one of the worst coffee experiences I got. Additionally, are you seriously getting your desserts from Sam’s club? Those cupcakes and individual cheese cakes are sold in Sam’s club!

The people who work here are polite however they were not very welcoming when I went to order for the first time. They were not by any means unkind… just not thrilled that I had questions and maybe needed some guidance when ordering. There was a leak in the restrooms and water on the floor and in the hallway so they may have been distracted by the situation. The food was not as fresh as I had hoped for a coffee shop that is not a chain since the options seemed ultra processed. I thought it would be different than frozen prepackaged food. The coffee was not horrible.

Google
This was our go to for years, but the quality has been steadily declining over the last year. Coffee drinks are very inconsistent in temperature and espresso strength. I often get more foam than I'd like, but the other day this reached an all time worse: 16 oz latte that was at least half foam! Going here is a gamble depending on barista, and there's a high turnover these days. Otherwise, atmosphere is great and parking is easy.

Google
My favorite place to escape, even if just for a moment. The service is always quick and helpful when I’m indecisive. The food selection is always vast and fresh, sometimes I want a macaroon, sometimes a beef patty will do. Vegan cakes?! And the coffee has made me a snob 🤷‍♀️ chain coffee will never do once you taste the freshly roasted goodness at ChocoLaté. Lastly, atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Feels like it’s been lived-in by this community for many moons. Love meeting clients here. Try the Romania Latte, you’re welcome ☺️

Google
This place really has a neighborhood feel despite being in a strip mall. It's a nice place to meet a friend, the coffee is decent, and the vibes are great. It's an environment where you can have both friendly and intimate conversations without feeling like you are intruding on anybody's space. I highly recommend.

Google
I wish we found this place sooner. It’s right beside a record store my husband loves. The employees were so kind, the service was quick, and the coffee was delicious. It has a small community coffee shop vibe. There were people studying, reading, and socializing. It was a genuinely enjoyable experience.

Google
Spotted by this cute local coffee shop that was close by. They have a decently sized menu with a lot of dessert type drinks. The staff was super friendly and sociable! I’d love to come by more and try more drinks. Unfortunately when I was there, they ran out of vanilla and lavender, which was okay. I wound up picking a spiced chai latte! They had good spice flavor; she mentioned having cardamom, ginger, and clove. I wish it were spicier but it was my first time! They definitely take customizations; it’s a small shop with loving regulars. Inside, there’s a lot of chairs and tables. They also have a reward program with your number but there’s some stipulations about it on the board. There’s plenty of parking in the plaza too!

Yelp
A true hidden gem!! I loved my experience here, the ambiance is great with great open space to get work done or chill. The drinks tasted delicious, I got the iced chai latte Will 100% be returning!

Yelp
Used to come here all the time but as wait time times get longer and longer due to low staffing I found myself coming less. Today on a Saturday morning I stopped in at 8:15 AM but the wasn't open, despite google saying 7:30 and Yelp saying 8 for opening. I decided to wait until 8:30 for the store to open but it didn't. After waiting until 8:45 I gave up and left. Instagram photo walls and stuff are cool but opening on time or having adequate staffing or accurate hours listed online seems more important to me.

Pravallika K.

Yelp
First time here! I think it's a great place to study/ work. They seatings for group/ solo people. There is enough outlets for charging as well. Good calming music that's just enough for you to concentrate. For the drink, I got matcha latte and I'm terms of sweetness it's 5/5 for me since it's not too sweet and taste is mid :3/5 Staff is friendly too

Alexandra M.

Yelp
ChocoLatte is a super cute cafe perfect for an afternoon coffee or treat or an alternative work space if you WFH. It's cozy and quiet inside and they have a great selection of drinks to choose from. We got the Dark Mocha and the Turtle Lattes. Both were delicious! It did take a while for them to be made which was odd since we were the only customers. A cute local spot worth checking out!

Nicole L.

Yelp
Been living in this area for 4 years and today was the first time I've ever visited ChocoLaté Coffee. Gotta say - I've been missing out! The shop was larger than I've expected it to be, just by glancing at it from the outside because its windows are made with tinted glass. The staff were very friendly and people were generally quiet studying in there, making this a great location for working/reading. Will definitely be visiting more often now!

Myeshia C.

Yelp
The coffee was delicious the chorizo and egg empanada needs work it was extremely bland and the pastry was slightly under baked

Marni M.

Yelp
I came here to meet someone as picked by them due to their parking lot and plenty of space. After finding convenient parking and plenty of seats to pick from, my sister ordered a chai latte while I got a blueberry scone. The latte was great and although the scone wasn't a traditional flakes texture, the alternative chewy and almost cookie like texture was just as good. Even bites without blueberries, there was a prominent blueberry taste. Overall, we had a great experience. Staff were beyond friendly while we looked through their extensive menu of sandwiches, drinks, and snacks. Environment was clean and like all the comfy and cozy coffee shops I love. I would definitely come again!

Shannon W.

Yelp
The up charge for dairy free milk is $1.50, regardless of size - highest I've ever seen. It's offensive to me that folks with dietary restrictions, medical conditions, allergies, etc are being up charged so severely. I refuse to pay that much for a small beverage and won't be returning as a customer.

Maddie G.

Yelp
Ordered the drip coffee with almond milk and it was delicious! I went here a little before 10AM on a Sunday so it wasn't crowded at all. Barely had to wait and coffee was prepared really quickly. Atmosphere is so cute and warm. I didn't have enough time to sit for a while but definitely would bring my laptop to do work and hang out here.

Mary Beth L.

Yelp
Warm, inviting neighborhood coffee places with just enough quirkyness to make you feel at home. Comfortable seating and good menu options are made even better by friendly staff. They will happily build a drink around something that won't keep your 6 year-old up until 3 AM. Give it a try.

Kyle D.

Yelp
Genuinely the worst bagel I've ever had in my life. They managed to capture the taste of elementary school cafeteria rolls and put it into an odd textured sphere. There's not even a hole in this bagel. I think this bagel is playing pretend. On the plus side the coffee is really good though

Hieronymous T.

Yelp
A place where the actual coffee is actually good! And so is the service! These days my bar for getting a coffee out is very low. Usually I ask myself two questions: 1) was I treated with open contempt? And 2) was the coffee completely undrinkable? If the answer to both questions is no, then I'm reasonably satisfied. My expectations are low. But today I was at ChocoLate and it suddenly struck me that I was drinking genuinely delicious coffee. And that I'd experienced good service from friendly people. Also, my chair was comfy and the surroundings were nice. So if you want to have a coffee shop experience that's well above the pitifully low bar we all too frequently accept these days then get coffee here!

Kashfia E.

Yelp
Order: Latte & nutty Irish latte Vibe: coke, eclectic and warm Review; coffee didn't have a kick. Latte tasted bland. All flavors essentially tastes the same. It was okay...

Henok T.

Yelp
Great coffee shop, however they rarely open on time. I just drove from the other side of town to sit in the parking lot waiting for them to open.

Tony D.

Yelp
The Best Coffee Shop I've been to in Atlanta! The Blended Coffee Drinks are my favorite! They are delicious and can be made from Decaf to VERY STRONG!! The deserts are homemade and amazing. Georgia is Awesome and Francy is awesome. Great variety of drinks. Homemade Italian soda when you don't feel like coffee. Chill and relaxed and lots of space. I come here almost every day. I really love the vibe. When you load $50 on your account, you get two free drinks, and by the time you spend the $50, you generally get another drink. So $25 worth of free drinks!! Can't say enough good things about the staff!

Yelp
Overpriced, bland and weak coffee.. I've gone back and tried it over 10 times, as I live walking distance. Last time I visited (mind you this was with a friend who swears by this place and loves it) was the straw that broke the camels back. I got a regular latte, politely asked for half and half instead of whole milk and next thing I know my card is charged for $11.74... for a latte with half and half? Worst latte ever mind you.. the ambiance is a chill, college coffee vibe which is cute Do yourself a service and go to Buena gente next door down or the spot further up the street toward emory.. hate to put a local spot down but I am really sick of the disservice and would welcome a Starbucks in that spot at this point.. sorry not sorry #dobetter

Lindsay W.

Yelp
I love this local coffee shop. Everyone is just so chill and relaxed. I wish I had more to say, but since I go there before I have my cup of coffee, my mind is still in la la land for a bit.

Rasheeda J.

Yelp
This is my 3rd time here and I truly LOVE the atmosphere! I'm extremely disappointed today and I'll probably never come back. I ordered a cold Caramel Macchiato and it wasn't good, I made 2 attempts to try and add more caramel and even milk to it and it just wasn't good. I asked if I could get a hot one instead due to it not tasting good and I was told that their policy is that I'd have to buy another drink instead of them accommodating a customers need of fixing the problem. SideNote: this policy that was stated to me is no where posted for me to reference to. I think this is a terrible policy IF it actually exists. I NEVER been to any establishment that didn't remake, fix or adjust for a paying customer.

Eric S.

Yelp
Solid coffee shop for solo studying or meeting with a friend. Just spent 3 hours in the back studying, getting a nasty blast of the restroom every 10 minutes.

Jules H.

Yelp
Cute place! The first order from DD went off without a hitch. The coffee was hot, delicious and the pastries I ordered for friends looked amazing and were well received. The Nutty Irishman was a big hit. I try to avoid sugar so had a basic coffee. I ordered again for another breakfast meeting. They were out of the pastries I ordered and substitute things that weren't even close( hence the 4 stars). I did spurge and have a Nutty Irishmen even though they wouldn't allow me to substitute non fat milk and don't offer sugar free syrups. I drank half and felt guilty all day but it was delicious and a nice treat. I went in to the store for my third order and loved the upbeat vibe and coffee house atmosphere. I'll definitely order from this place again. I love supporting small, lesser known businesses in my community!

Kimia J.

Yelp
The staff here are 10/10. So kind and friendly. I got a vanilla+blackberry latte with almond milk. So so good. The vibe here is also clutch. So many yummy things and plenty of natural light to create a cozy vibe. I love coming here so so much. Also, Jess and Georgia are the best!

Lisa H.

Yelp
ChocoLaté Coffee is a charming coffee cafe, welcoming even to casual caffeine consumers. The baristas are as sweet as can be, no snobbery here. They always ask if I have any questions, probably since I stare at the menu too long! Since this coffeehouse is near Emory, you'll see a lot of student and professor types. Seating was plentiful, and I noticed some couches in the back. There's a little patio in front with ashtrays, oddly enough. The view is just of the shopping center's parking lot, but it's still nice to get sun and air. The vanilla latte (small $3.89) and chocolate chai (small $3.74) were both pleasing to the tastebuds. The vanilla latte wasn't too sweet, win. The chai was a little heavier on the chocolate than I expected, but it was still really appetizing. If you can answer the trivia question of the day, there's a discount in store for you. $3 minimum on credit cards. Gotta love a local java joint like ChocoLaté Coffee!

Aishwarya I.

Yelp
After living in ATL for a year and exploring other coffee shops, I can confirm that ChocoLaté continues to be in my top 3 regular rotation. Its warm, welcoming and non-pretentious vibe keeps me coming back. The back part of the store (which was previously closed) is now open too so there's plenty of tables! There's even a 4-person private conference room back there, which would be great for a group study sesh. Plus, I am now obsessed with their iced chocolate chai--it's my new go-to drink. Grateful for this local gem of a place.

Daniel B.

Yelp
This place is over priced for what you get. Don't get me wrong the people service, vibe, and space are great but I genuinely feel like I'm paying a premium because their rent is high only to get a Kirkland latte. Not to mention the bakery items are more expensive than Starbucks...

Saba E.

Yelp
I am so glad this place is still around! I remembered when it first opened in either 2005 or 2006, and I'd try to come in and do work while still in college. It's changed (for the better) on the inside since I was last here 10+ years ago. The decor and menu is easier to navigate around (and through) as well as their options. I was particularly impressed with the many milk options they had as well as the interesting combinations of coffees and flavors. Their furniture allowed for both communal and individual work spaces or conversation areas. The high tables seemed great for either an intimate conversation or a "I'm working & need to be distraction free right now" ambiance. The baristas was very attentive and asked a couple of times to verify what we ordered. We ordered an iced lavender latte with soy, and my husband opted for a "not as sweet" (their phrasing not mine) dark chocolate mocha latte; unfortunately I had to remove a star because both drinks arrived hot. One barista was especially attentive and asked if everything was okay since we looked puzzled, and we told her but didn't have the time to wait and fix our drink. It was nice that the barista noticed and made sure we were happy with our drinks. This experience won't dissuade me from returning.

Yelp
ChocoLaté is the quintessential cozy coffee shop in Atlanta. Located in an an unassuming strip mall near Emory, I, like many others, have spent countless hours here over the years cramming for exams, and I was delighted to revisit this spot and relish in my nostalgia on a recent Saturday morning. Although it seems this spot has recently remodeled its interior, it still had that cozy feel- soft music overhead and mismatched sofas, tables, and chairs perfectly arranged to make yourself at home. We went classic with our order- she had the cold brew with soy and I had a double espresso, which were both great, and we shared a delicious pain au chocolat from their always well-stocked pastry case. In my book, ChocoLaté is a classic hangout and an asset to the neighborhood both for its vibe and the quality of its coffee and treats.

Ashleigh K.

Yelp
Cute and quaint coffee shop in a busy part of town. Menu is pretty big with drinks as well as pastries for sale. I've had days where I really like their coffee and days where I really don't, which is why I took two stars off rather then giving five. I wish it was more consistent. My go to is cold brew but sometimes they are out. The staff is always nice and there is usually a good amount of people working or chitchatting. The ambiance is very relaxed and hipster in my opinion.

Hillary B.

Yelp
Very hipster ambiance, this spot is very popular for informational interviews. Every time I've come there's always been at least one duo having an intense conversation. As a result, this coffee shop is on the louder side of things. The coffee itself is solid, but a little pricey. There are plenty of flavors available so you'll never run out of options. And I should mention that there's free WiFi as well as a group work space that's separated from the rest of the shop by a door.

Eric C.

Yelp
We came to ChocoLate Coffee for a work meeting because they have a conference room in the back and pretty strong/reliable Wifi and what I took fro this first encounter was that they not only have a lot of space but they also have great coffee and a fantastic coffee cake. ChocoLate Coffee looks a lot different on the outside than what's on the inside. Because they are part of a strip mall, you'd think that they are bland and empty on the inside but in reality they are hipster, VERY hipster. They have all sorts of chairs and sitting spaces in the front and back of the cafe. If you walk all the way to the back there is a conference room that can sit between 6-8 people. You have to reserve this in advance and there has to be at least 4 people in your group to reserve. Order your coffee first and you'll soon realize why they're so popular. It's 'cause their coffee is so delicious. I got my usual ice coffee and unlike some other places, it's nicely brewed. In fact, they are pushing their new cold brew which you should all give a try. The highlight of my morning, though was their coffee cake which they helped me warm up a tad. It's made with a little bit of shortbread in there helping the whole thing pop. I love coffee cake to begin with but this one is definitely extra special. There were tons of people here and their only issue is that they don't have enough space for everyone. The music was nicely chosen but it is a bit loud IMHO. Will definitely keep them in mind for future meetings as a nice space to work and will definitely be back for that coffee cake!

Sneha A.

Yelp
best chai ever, amazing harvest muffin, very cute cafe all around. 10/10 love this place

Joseph N.

Yelp
This place is so fun! After living nearby for a year and seeing the sign many, many times, I finally stopped in with a friend for some coffee. I'd never visited because, let's be honest, it's a coffee shop in a strip mall, how good could it be? I was wrong...this is definitely a case of looks being deceiving. As soon as we walked in, I was taken aback at how much space there was inside! They really maximized what they were working with...there are a few couches and sets of tables and chairs up front, as well as bar stools at the window. More than the space up front, if you walk back behind where the counter is at, there are a few more high-top tables with chairs and a couple more couches. Maybe I should have figured, but I couldn't help but think whoa, this is a spot I can come and chill and get work done! So far, I was blown away by the appearance, but then saw that the menu is fairly expansive, and displayed colorfully on a chalkboard above the counter, how chic :) There are plenty of options beyond the standard coffee shop fare displayed on the menu, which is inviting for folks who aren't as well-versed in the coffee universe. There are also several non-dairy options (even rice milk!) for your beverage, and a bakery case with a variety of pastries...I can't speak for how the items taste, but they had macaroons in there, which is beyond what I'd expect from a coffee shop. The baristas were friendly and did a good job keeping the line moving. I ordered the shot in the dark, which is an espresso in a cup of coffee, and it was ready in a few minutes and delicious. I've only been once, but if you're in the area and have thought about stopping in, prepare to be pleasantly surprised when you do!

Lindsay E.

Yelp
My personal experience wasn't pleasant, but I know many people love ChocoLaté. I think it's great that they have so many menu options and that they have private rooms people can book for appointments and such. The ambiance isn't my speed, but is very relaxed. It reminds me of a college campus coffee shop - a little grungy with a DIY, shabby-chic vibe. The customer service was lacking during my visit - I had some questions about what was available on the menu and the barista slid a menu across the counter to me instead of talking me through what would be a good option. I prefer friendly chatting, so I'll stick with other coffee shops in the area. There are gender neutral bathrooms and ample lot parking. There is a lot of space to sit and many couches, chairs, and tables for groups or solo folks.

Ken C.

Yelp
Good college vibe Priced reasonably Filled with folks with books or laptops.....good background music tracks Nice place to wind down

Amy O.

Yelp
What better way to start your day, take a break, or end your day other than going to ChocoLate Coffee!! Amazing coffee and treats!! Plus the staff are SO friendly, professional and attentive! This is definitely a routine stop for me!

Andrea M.

Yelp
Inside had a nice cozy vibe. The staff was friendly. Seating was pretty plentiful even though the area seemed crowded. There was more towards the back too. Sometimes yummy samples are available. I had the zucchini bread when I stopped by with the bf. It was moist and pretty tasteful. I decided to order the cookies and cream flavor off the frappe menu. It was okay, but a tad expensive for the size and what it was [over $5 for a small]. Perhaps I'll come back and try a traditional latte or iced cup of Joe. Parking was pretty decent, but if you come during rush hr then trying to go towards the opposite side of traffic then be prepared be a bit bolder with your driving.

Yulin G.

Yelp
Ramania Latte is so smooth and delicious. Definitely Great place to refresh your mind.

Elizabeth J.

Yelp
Just wanted to thank amazing Sophia today for not only making me this bag of freshly ground #organic ChocoLate House Blend but also hand delivering it out to my car for amazing #contactless delivery. So proud to be able to continue to support this local Decatur #smallbusiness and thank you for making #socialdistancing easy! ChocoLate has now reopened its Decatur location. Their hours as of this posting are 8am-2pm W-Sat, but check their website for latest hours. P.S. - Other items in the photo are from NutsNBerries, just down the way.

Daniel R.

Yelp
A pretty busy coffee shop in a strip mall. They've done their best to maximize seating, but it still felt a little cramped--especially around 5 PM. Internet was fine. Only one bathroom and it was a bit stank. I sat at the bar for several hours with someone else's dirty mug next to me, which became more apparent once a couple flies took interest. At least 4 hours passed before someone took it away to clean it. It's only been a couple days since we visited and I don't remember what I ordered, which is probably the most important commentary I could make. Would I come back? If I was in the area, maybe. But I'd be more likely to try another local shop in the area.

Luke T.

Yelp
Ahhh the indie cafe,.. awkward, artsy, divey and resilient. Grungy college kids in flannel jammy, flip flop and sweat shirts. Its a place to relax, cram for a test and dry your wet hair Is it the coffee, the sweets or the lights? They come, they drink, eat and they stay. Maybe the free wifi and clean loo? I dunno, what do you say? Indeed, indeed.. a sip and a thought I ruminate and reflect I read and I learn I am the oldest dude in the cafe.... Oh my, I am outta here

Amanda L.

Yelp
I thought I didn't like coffee til I tried the coffee here. My go-to right now is any of the delicious frappes. I've only been here in summer though so when winter rolls around I might try the hot stuff. They have an impressive selection of baked goods for sale as well. If you live in the Decatur area, pass on the sbux and just hit this place up instead. You wont regret it. EDIT: I've seen several other reviewers mention poor customer service. I have been several times and not had a single bad experience. The baristas are nice people and seemed perfectly happy to help me choose a beverage and answer any questions I had about ingredients and price.

Eryn S.

Yelp
I love this place. Great videos for studying or even a meeting. The coffee is epic to! Worth every penny. The services is hand and hand a good thing!

Lindsay O.

Yelp
The most delicious coffee I've had in a while! Environment inside is lovely and workers were very kind. Would have gotten 5 stars if my large iced coffee (with vanilla and oat milk) didn't come to $8.50 :( Despite the steep prices, I'll definitely be returning

Vee M.

Yelp
The frozen mocha is amazing! I also love the comfortable atmosphere, and the staff is always kind to me when I'm asking for coffee recommendations because I don't know anything!

Michael S.

Yelp
Coffee is good, but a lot of passive aggressive signs throughout the place and not so friendly staff. One time recently I simply ordered a hot coffee and got treated pretty bad just because I didn't leave a tip to the register worker. Im a grad student - I can't tip every time I get coffee, especially since this isn't a sit down restaurant with waiter /waitress service! Moreover, they don't have food (sandwiches, soup, etc) like most coffee shops, just occasional cake and bagels. It's just eh.

Chris C.

Yelp
Small local shop near my house that I've been wanting to try out. Cute and small. Good for getaway from crazy day just to sit and relax. Coffee as usual pricy. I got the large frappe for $6. Ekk. Oh lookin around a check out the daily trivia for discount if you answer correct. The questions are random, Could go for movie craze to baseball history. The Interior smell funky. I couldn't sit inside nor outside. Ugh.

I M.

Yelp
They serve good brewed coffee and it seems to be a popular spot to just sit and do work/study. I'm not sure if I would chose to study here as their seating area is really crammed with furniture and a bit difficult to walk around. Their customer service is usually not very good at all. I recently bought a blueberry scone from here to have for breakfast. After arriving to my destination, I saw that the scone had mold on it. I drove back to return it and the girl looked at it, saw the mold, and didn't even offer a simple "sorry about that" apology. She asked me if I wanted something else and, because I wasn't really interested in testing out any other pastries, I asked if I could just have a small iced coffee, to which she replied "well, that's 50 cents more than the scone." So much for showing care and empathy to your customers. I probably could have spoken to a manager, but I just left. Unfortunately it only takes one negative customer service experience to discourage me from going back and this was it.

Phoebe A.

Yelp
This is my favorite coffee shop in all of Atlanta! Really wonderful staff, such a cozy atmosphere, not pretentious where you feel bad for taking up space, just generally a very warm atmosphere. A lived in coffee shop. So glad this place exists! Oh, and the coffee is great too

Hollis B.

Yelp
I never try and review places based on customer service...BUT I have stopped by multiple times to get coffee and the baristas have been rude every single time! Even asking for the wifi password I got a "it's on the bottom of the receipt where it is always is", like damn sorry I've never been here before. Desserts are lacking, furniture is set up in a way that is crammed to the point of having to nudge people to sit. Also they have all these passive aggressive signs posted about everything. Done with this place once and for all. Too many wonderful coffee shops in Atlanta and surrounding area to mess with this place.

Ashley C.

Yelp
The best chai and friendliest staff I've encountered, anywhere. Get your caffeine loving self here immediately!

Sutton J.

Yelp
Went in for a quick take out. The staff were nice and helpful. It's a very cute place and seems nice for hanging out with a couple of friends or a date. I'll definitely return. The price is (barely) more than your chain coffee shop but it's worth it.
