Chocolate Tofino

Chocolate Tacofino is great! I started with their hot chocolate—pure perfection and intensely rich. In Vancouver, some places might serve it more diluted (Breka’s is around 60% chocolate, which is already good), but this one tastes like 70-80%—deep, bold, and luxurious. I also picked up some chocolates and beans for giveaways—beautifully packaged and very presentable. Love this place! I’ll be back for the ice cream tonight. So far, so good!

A must-try sweet spot in Tofino! Chocolate Tofino is a popular local gem — luckily, when we visited in the mid-afternoon, the wait was short (about 10 minutes). They offer some unique and creative flavours; we tried the Lavender Honey gelato, and it was fantastic — rich, creamy, and full of floral aroma without being overpowering. The portion size was generous compared to most gelato places. Highly recommend if you’re in town and craving a treat! 🥰

AMAZING customer service. Gluten Free ice cream flavours available, I explained to the staff that I was a celiac and they scooped my ice cream from the back (they offered) to ensure no cross contamination. Ice cream was really yummy. I’d recommend for sure! PS I had the White chocolate Raspberry & Pistachio flavour ice cream xxx

10/10, not one bad thing. When we were ordering we noticed the prices were pretty high for two scoops, until we saw the portion sizes. The ice cream I ordered was bigger than my fist and weighed more than a newborn child. It was so great to, definitely worth it. The staff was so nice to me and my family, I wanted to switch to a waffle cone halfway through my order because I noticed it was much bigger (I strongly recommend it considering the size of 1 scoop) and it was no problem. A cone of my brother broke during his order and they got a new one instead of giving him his broke one which was thoughtful. The ice cream tasted so good that it brought me to heaven and only let me go back down after I finished it(which was a real challenge). Overall it was delicious and I enjoyed it so much.

Nice to see two vegan gelato options available: salted caramel and chocolate. The salted caramel was a standout but I wish the chocolate was more chocolatey. Both options were really creamy and delicious. Portions are HUGE so consider getting the kid portion if you’re not splitting two scoops with a friend.

Got the mango sorbet and it was exactly what I expected. Refreshing, delicious and so much mango! I’ve been here multiple times and gotten different kinds of gelato and chocolates - everything is made with so much love and is delicious!

Cute little chocolate/ice cream shop. Clean and tidy despite high traffic. We drove by 4 days in a row and there's always a line. The line moves through quickly. Waffle cone is good. Recommend Hedgehog and Good Vibration

While visiting Tofino, wanted to have something sweet and stooped at Chocolate Tofino. This is in a collection of buildings that can be easy to just drive by, so look for the gelato sign. The inside is small so I can see a line forming outside pretty quickly in the warmer months. They will let you sample some flavors before you decide. I ended up with a pint of the Hammerhead which is a secret recipe. Licorice, chai, who knows. The recipe is a secret I think only the owner knows. Also had the hedgehog which is chocolate and hazelnut. They make all their own chocolates in house with Colombian chocolate. Several to choose from. My favorite is the London fog. It's a good thing I don't live closer. Friendly staff. Great selection. Check it out!

Absolutely amazing gelato. Some of the best we have ever had. We tried many different flavors and had a hard time deciding.

My family came to the area as tourists to tacofino, but they closed early. So we walked around the area and ate the the grill place next to chocolate tofino. We noticed they consistently had a line out the door! We lined up for a taste ourselves. We each got our own cup, I found the prices to be cheap compared to other places for the large portion! My whole family agreed that the gelato was just alright. I wish it was more flavourful. For reference, I got the chocolate hazelnut.

The best gelato! The cones are made there. It never disappoints. I try to go every day when visiting Tofino!

After seeing all the 5 star reviews, I was excited to check this place out. It was pretty good, as you can't really go wrong with ice cream, but not as mind-blowing as some of the reviews make it out to be. For other Vancouverites, I prefer Earnest Ice Cream or Rain or Shine hands down. All the flavours look really delicious, and their descriptions will make you laugh a little. I ended up going for the salted caramel in a waffle cone, which has chocolate flakes in it and apparently Harrison Ford liked it. Well if it was good enough for him, it's good enough for me, right? The salted caramel is tasty, perhaps not as salty or "burnt sugar tasting" like Earnest's, but still good. The waffle cones are crisp and well made, the bottom was crafted so there is less chance of melted ice cream dripping out. Tip: If you eat at Wildside Grill first, keep your receipt and you get 10% off at Chocolate Tofino. There is some covered outdoor seating in between Chocolate Tofino and Wildside Grill, plus washrooms behind. If the weather is nice they also have a lot of picnic tables in the area (uncovered). If I'm in Tofino again I'd come back, as it seems like the best place to have ice cream there. But, it's not even close to my favourite ice cream places and not something I'd crave for.

Online order is disappointing. I wanted to order their delicious chocolates for a few upcoming Birthdays via online but every time I tried to login to enter my email address, their system kept stating 'Email address is invalid'. I double check to see if I entered it incorrectly but that wasn't the problem. I even created a new account using the same email address and this time, I did manage to login and put items in the basket but when it came to the payment stage, the order just hung there-ugh! I so want to support local business but getting NO co-operation from Tofino Chocolates online order system. Please fix it!

After Tacofino, we decided to have some icecream. We tried Columbia (Dutch chocolate was not available), and Hammerhead. They were both good icecream but nothing special or outstanding. But the staff was nice and let use taste a couple of other flavours before we ordered. We got 2 scoops on a waffle cone for $8.50. The waffle cone was okay but the portion that they gave us were BIG. I'm glad I wasn't eating it all by myself. We also go chocolate covered coco nibs and they were GREAT. It's a bit expensive, but fair priced. It became a great snack on the road and I would get them again.

Best gelato on Vancouver Island. Great selection of flavors. Friendly and fun vibe, too! We'll be back!

Wow. This was amazing gelato. I did a double scoop with "hedgehog" (chocolate and hazelnut) and the vegan chocolate coconut gelato. They were both absolutely delicious! Long line, but for good reason, and if you want your gelato quickly, you can call ahead! Nice area with a couple of shops and outdoor seating. Definitely recommend stopping here if you are in Tofino.

I luckily stumbled upon Chocolate Tofino the day before they closed for a month and I'm sure glad that I did. The store is quaint yet chock full of handcrafted chocolates and house-made ice cream; I tried both. The chocolates we're good though it was hard to tell the difference between flavours. The ice creams, however, were top class - smooth and delicious.

HACK#1: GET 10% OFF If you ordered food from their neighbour food truck 'Wildside Grill', save the receipt & show it to your cashier at Chocolate Tofino will get you 10% off your bill! HACK#2: Get 2 flavours for the price of 1 scoop. If you liked 2 flavours but don't want to buy 2 full scoops of each, ask to get 2 KID-SIZED scoops. That way it's still the same price of a normal 1 scoop but you can have 2 flavours to try! HACK#3: Ask for testers. Before deciding on the flavour, ask to try them out and they'll give you a sample to taste. Overall, there was awesome flavour selections. We ended up choosing their Nutella and their Salted Caramel. Chocolate Tofino's salted caramel is hands down the MOST GENUINE I've had ! It's sweet but not overbearing, and the caramel chips were the best (not that commercial candied stuff).

Great ice cream place a short distance from Tofino and in the same parking area as Tacofino. Wen went in the late summer so was pretty busy around lunch, they recommended ordering online and picking up at the take out window. Next time we will know!

Get the caramel salted sundae now. Best sundae you will ever have. Comes in a waffle bowl coated with chocolate on the inside, their amazing salted caramel Gelato with a butterscotch drizzle, chocolate shavings along with their chocolate surfboard. YUM! I also had the tropical mango sorbet and it was very good. Tasted very fruity with lots of mango flavour. Come here if you are in Tofino!

My lil sister and I went to Tofino for the first time a couple of months ago. All of my friends recommended that we try Chocolate Tofino I've creams...They were absolutely right! Chocolate Tofino ice cream is just the BEST! I would highly recommend everyone to try their ice cream! I swear you will forget all about your problems...its that good!!! Their service is good too. I simply cannot wait until I can go back to Tofino and eat some more ice cream while sightseeing...Try the ice cream and thank me later ;)

Yum! Long lineups and delicious ice creams! Loved the service! The ladies were super nice and high energy considering how many people were in there! They are very busy and very patient and happy! I tried their vegan option which was chocolate and I sprinkled it with their own cocoa nibs! It was such a delicious treat!

Aaron has been to Italy where he's had some top notch gelato and Ursula worked for a gelato company for a year. We know a little thing or two about gelato, and when we see it we are usually suspicious... However, we were blown away by how delicious this gelato was. We actually had a lot of difficulty figuring out which flavors we were getting because we wanted them all. It's VERY good and you should definitely get some. Especially if it's a holiday, or if you're on vacation, or if you're having a bad day, or if the sky is blue.. because you need no reason. Just get it. We were pleasantly surprised and will definitely stop in again when we're in the area. Also, try the chocolate if you are a fan as it's good as well. YUM!

I've tasted a lot of ice creams and so far in BC I'm tempted to say this is some of the best I've had! And that says a lot when you consider the caliber of ice creams available in Vancouver! Absolutely delicious!! The salted caramel was superb and I thoroughly enjoyed the mint choc chip. It's probably the best waffle cone I've had too, fresh and crisp. Everything is made fresh in house and there's a nice selection of choc as well. It's a popular spot, so expect a line up.

I loved their Hammerhead flavour. It's a special feature where they donate $1 of each cone purchased to Fin Free to help save sharks! Their ice cream is yummy and smooth. The cones and sundae bowls were also amazing. Loved the little decor on top of the ice cream.

We drove to chocolate Tofino and the parking was a little tricky because it's a gravel parking lot with no lines and the cars are parked close together. I think there's constantly a lot of cars because tacofino and other stores share the same parking lot area. The gelato was delicious and creamy! We had the hammerhead and summer strawberry flavours. Hammerhead is a secret recipe so I don't know what's in it but it tastes like cardamom. The summer strawberry tasted like fresh strawberries instead of the artificial stuff. They added little white chocolate rabbits to our scoops because it was Easter.

If you have a sweet tooth, you'll fit right in at Chocolate Tofino. They (obviously) have a delectable array of homemade chocolate on offer, but they also have homemade gelato. On a hot, sunny day in May, the gelato is what brought us here. Don't be shy about asking for tastes--the employees are friendly and will happily oblige. They even have suggestions if you're truly, terribly torn. The California Pistachio was my ultimate favorite, which is unsurprising because I'm a sucker for all things pistachio. Other standouts include the Salted Caramel and Hedgehog(chocolate and hazelnut). Definitely try the Hammerhead--it's a secret house recipe with hints of licorice and other spices, and it's quite unlike any other gelato flavor I've ever tried. Head on over here, grab your cup or cone, head on outside, and enjoy some gelato in the seating area. Try and catch a ray of sun on your shoulder to round out the experience.

This place has expanded from a little hole in the wall to a legitimate full store in a short amount of time. The little chocolates are pretty good, albeit expensive. What keeps us coming back is the gelato. It really is some of the best gelato we've ever had, and the Salted Caramel bowl is a pretty good deal. The homemade waffle cones also have a good deal of flavour.

Creamy gelato. I opted for anything chocolate and it is perfect. There was a long line but worth the wait.

Stopped by here to get some ice cream. Honestly didn't know about it until I was told to keep my receipt from Wildside Grill for 10% off. Got the toffee coffee one (collab with Tofino coffee) on a waffle cone and it was deeee-lish. It's always been my rule that if the shop makes the cones fresh in store, then a cone is a must. The ice cream was smooth and tasty and the cone was the perfect complement to it. I have to go back to get the rich Dutch Chocolate one next!

Excellent ice cream and the best treat after you enjoy Tacofino or Wildside Grill! Fresh ingredients in a cute setting. We had the strawberry ice cream, which sounds pretty ordinary, but it was packed with fresh local strawberries so the flavour was on point! The waffle cones are made fresh and tasted great. Held up and didn't get soggy even with the hot weather. Wish we had time to go back for multiple visits but we will save it for next time!

A great place to go after a long hike. I tried their hedgehog and salted caramel ice cream and it was really great. The portions are absolutely huge I asked for two scoops and when she gave it to me I was so surprised. It's more like a half a tub of ice cream. They also sell chocolates and I like how one of the chocolate bars proceeds go to sea Shepherd. Definitely a place I would recommend

This is a cute little chocolate shop that we stopped at after a long day hiking. It did not disappoint! Their vanilla bean ice cream with a chocolate cone is awesome! I was also a fan of the pistachio. The ice cream is so silky and smooth. Also, try their chocolate candy. I had the caramel with salt. I didn't eat it right away, forgot it in my purse, and discovered it a week later when back in the states. It was probably the best caramel candy I have ever had. I could have easily eaten 1/2 dozen of them and have been sadly craving them from afar :( Give this place a shot. Yummy.

The salted caramel and maple syrup chocolates were outstanding! This is a super cute cafe, with a ton of delicious treats. Worth a visit :)

What a hidden gem!!! It was within walking distance of our cabin and was a great surprise. This little store makes all their own chocolates - and let me tell you, they make great chocolate!!! I love how they have a chocolate wheel in the back spinning chocolate around and around. Makes the store smell insanely good!! Me and the kids stopped by for some ice cream out on their small patio. Just a few chairs but really relaxing. Staff was really friendly and let the kids try as many samples of the ice cream as they wanted. We just had regular ice cream but they make their own Gelato as well! Make sure you put the effort in and find this place. They make some really good stuff.

Delicious chocolate and ice cream. Line up can be long so phone in your order which saves a ton of time. Reasonably priced, love the Dutch chocolate and Honey Lavender ice cream.

The salted caramel sundae is to die for...amazing ice cream with big chunks of chocolate and caramel, waffle bowl with a milk chocolate bottom and a chocolate surfboard to top it all off. Highly recommend you stop by here if you are in Tofino.

A place you might easily miss in the little west coast strip mall it calls home. Its hidden away to the left once you enter from the highway, and still visible from the highway. The pecan gelato is pretty good. I would spring for the waffle cone. You'll probably get some extra ice cream as they try to make it look nice and full. I think you get 10% off with a receipt from the Wildside Grill which is just around the corner.

OMG, I had to drag myself away from this place or I would weigh 300 lbs! The chocolate here is fabulous, all hand made, small batches, with marvelous flavor and texture combinations. The wild blackberry buttercream is a dream, the hazelnut buttercream is lovely and not oversweet, the strawberry starfish is awesome with a real strawberry inside, the hazelnut rainforest logs are fabulous, oh I could just go on and on and on. After loading up on boxes of these incredible chocolates, I had to have a hot cocoa before I left - nectar of the gods! I just sipped it and let the beautiful chocolate essence imbue my spirit for hours of pleasure. I am so looking forward to a return visit!

Yum. They have sorbet and might have a vegan ice cream if you ask. I had the dairy free coconut chocolate and it was delicious. Thank you Chocolate Tofino for understanding that some of us can't have ice cream; it was wonderful to be able to join my family for "ice cream" for once. The truffles and chocolate bars looked yummy as well, maybe next time...

Ah........WOW!!!!! The gelato is AMAZING and the service is friendly! LOVE that on the outside on the window says, "Wetsuit friendly establishment."

Really excellent chocolates... catering for all tastes (low cocoa content to high cocoa content)... the salted caramels were to die for... We didn't try any of the gelato/ice cream but it all looked very good! Definitely worth a stop in for a small treat or a sugar fix ;-)

If you're a fan of gorgeous chocolates and homemade icecream, Chocolate Tofino is a must. Enjoy a cone and take home boxes of beautiful chocolates as gifts for your friends and family who weren't lucky enough to visit Tofino. And, Chocolate Tofino has superb customer service. Before we visited, I e-mailed Cam to ask if the icecream would be safe for my son who has a nut allergy. Cam made a special, safe batch of icecream for Benjamin. Because of Ben's life-threatening nut allergy, I have only found one other scoop shop that is safe for him due to the high risk of cross-contamination. (Shout-out to Molly Moon's Icecream if you visit Seattle!) So it was a first for my nine-year-old and me to ride bikes together to Chocolate Tofino and sit outside in the sunshine eating icecream cones after a day at the beach. Definitely a wonderful childhood experience, and made possible by Cam's generosity.

I was pleasantly surprised by the chocolate in Tofino. The sea salt caramel chocolate was absolutely delicious, and some of the best chocolate I've had in a while. Not sure if it was the freshness or the chocolate itself, but it tasted significantly better than the famous Rogers chocolates in Victoria.

This was one of the highlights of a recent camping trip to Tofino. My wife loved the gelato so much she would drive from the mainland, take a ferry, and then drive all the way to Tofino just for another cone of it.

The salted caramel sundae was amazing. And there is a coffee store just beside with a awesome expresso.

Amazing chocolate - I'm going in this time! My friend got us some salted caramel chocolates she likes in case the place closed while we were eating supper at The Wildside Grill. I tried her hot chocolate which is real chocolate melted into a cup YUM! I hear it's an experience to go in, so I will be going in this time :) for chocolate and gelato!
