Do you sometimes skip dessert?
I do it at home, for sure, pretty much every day. I used to do it all the time outside until I met my wife. Then, because of her (or thanks to her, depending on your point of view 😜), I got used to eating dessert every single time I eat out. But when I travel, I usually don't eat dessert where I eat my meal, cause I see dessert as an opportunity to visit a different spot. 😉
One day, in Amsterdam 🇳🇱, I had a very heavy lunch (probably after 2 breakfasts! 😅) so I couldn't eat dessert at all, but my son would never give up on it so we stopped by Jordino, a beautiful vintage chocolaterie and ice cream parlor. 🤩 I must admit the place was super appealing and I regretted not being able to eat. 😔
OK, I couldn't eat but I still wanted to try what he had, especially because he ordered what used to be MY flavor when I was a kid, blackberry sorbet, and MY flavor now, pistachio. Since he's still a kid he ordered these 2 scoops in a weird cone with white chocolate and sprinkles. That I would never do. 😅
The blackberry one was good and it really tasted like the fruit, even though it was very sweet.
But I found the pistachio scoop simply terrible: it tasted super artificial and just not good. 😣
After trying that, despite the look of the shop, out of the sudden, I didn't regret not being able to eat anymore, TBH. 👎
Besides, this ice cream cone that I didn't like and that was rather small was super expensive: €5.75. Even for Amsterdam, I don't think this is acceptable. 😤
