Thankfully, Mt. Pleasant finally has some Persian food, and it is really good! Chokka offers many Persian classics like Koobideh, Barg Kebab, Ghaymeh, etc, that are really well done. I ordered the Chokka Special, which is chicken leg marinated in mayonnaise, tomato paste, and some other spices I forget the name of. The quality of the meat was clearly fresh and cooked to perfection (cooked through while retaining the juiciness). The sides included a portion of salad, mashed potatoes, and rice which were also delicious, especially considering I have never gotten mashed potatoes as a side at a Persian restaurant, so I was initially skeptical but it was surprisingly very good. We also got a complimentary house tea and biscuits, which provided the best post-meal relaxation. Please check out Chokka if you are in the mood for Persian food near Yonge/Eglinton, Eglinton/Mt Pleasant - they clearly poured a lot of heart into maintaining a clean, well-kept, friendly atmosphere, with amazing customer service from Sara.

My friend & I popped into to try Chokka around noon today for lunch. Both of us are experienced Persian food eaters and were keen to try another venue. We noticed the menu seemed to be missing items we were familiar with and began to 2nd guess our decision to walk into this empty restaurant. Well Asal's hospitality, quick service and attentiveness combined with all of our delectable dishes quickly had us convinced to add Chokka to our "must return" list! We shared the tomato & smoked eggplant appetizer (scrumptious and flavourful), chicken choppa (thigh meat) and chicken breast kabob served with a few hot peppers, pickled purple cabbage and parsley on the side of the platters; the meats were all char-grilled to perfection, juices intact. Both included a sizeable mini mountain of rice with bottles of olive oil, lemon juice and sumac and plenty of packaged pats of butter brought to the table. We tried saffron tea for the first time and were pleasantly surprised when the hot beverage was served with a stick of crystallized sugar & saffron sprigs inside; beautiful! The restaurant provided a complimentary black tea service at the end of the meal too. All in all, Chokka was a great find and I would strongly recommend a visit for anyone who happens to be in the area! Thanks again to Asal & the rest of the staff for welcoming us so warmly on this cold, icky day.

Our first visit to Chokka today was mixed with a bit of nostalgia for its longtime predecessor, Greece, but quite wonderful nonetheless. We went for lunch and the food was, as others have stated, simply superb and the service top-notch. Chokka's goal is to present the best of Persian/Iranian cuisine with the best (and freshest) ingredients, which isn't going to be bargain basement. However, the menu also offers a range of more cost-effective dishes plus, like many serious restaurants, there is a daily lunch special that allows diners to test-drive a higher-end classic at a reasonable rate. In our case, the shishlik kebab -- grilled lamb chops in the foreground of the photo priced $20 below the evening rate. Absolutely delicious, as was everything else including my sidekick's fesenjan, a "sweet and sour" chicken stew. (Don't fret if the menu seems daunting -- your server soon clears up any confusion.) For those with less of an appetite (we were celebrating a birthday), Chokka also has an array of fast-food options. However, despite the impression given by (again, as others have noted) the advertising that seems to fill the windows, it is NOT a fast-food joint by any stretch of the imagination. If you step through the door and check the place out, that image will disappear forever. In fact, you will see that the ads are like a one-mirror. They don't obscure your view of the street. Let's welcome Chokka -- another key player in the rebuilding of our stretch of Mount Pleasant as a serious food destination.

What a treat to enjoy a late lunch and afternoon tea here among the flower nook out front! Large portion sizes of very juicy and flavourful meat, kind and attentive service. We were offered bonus tea and dessert with our meal which was presented so beautifully. A very special afternoon - we will be back for sure!

A Hidden Gem That Won’t Stay Hidden for Long! I had the pleasure of dining at Chokka Persian Restaurant and was truly impressed. They just opened on July 1st, and I can already tell it’s going to become a local favorite very soon! I ordered the Chicken Salari Kebab, and honestly, it was phenomenal, perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and top-quality. Chef’s kiss for that one! To top it off, they treated us to complimentary tea and dessert, which was such a thoughtful touch. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the supervisor was incredibly friendly, you can tell they really care about your experience. One smart detail I loved: they give you a small bell to call the staff if you need anything. Simple, but brilliant, every restaurant should do this! All in all, amazing food, great service, and a lovely vibe. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending it to friends!

We had the best dine-in experience at Chokka Persian Restaurant today! ❤️ The inside ambiance was elegant and peaceful with soft jazz music, which was a surprise for us as it looked like a fast food place from the outside. The service was above and beyond, as the young lady who waited on us was beyond kind and hospitable. We were served saffron iced water to start, and were offered complimentary dessert and black tea afterwards. We got the chicken leg meal and koobideh meal, which were both juicy, smokey and seasoned perfectly, with a hint of acidity, tasted just like homemade. The salad that came with rice and mashed potato was special to me, as that salad dressing stole the whole show! What is even in there?? It’s so good!! Also portion was huge so we needed a bed afterwards to pass out. Anyways, we highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a relaxing dinner spot or a family-friendly halal restaurant. I would 100% come back and recommend to my friends. Thank you so much for your excellent service and delicious food!

Such a lovely experience! The food was absolutely delicious — full of authentic Iranian flavors that felt like home. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, and everything was beautifully presented. Special shoutout to Sara, our waitress, who was so kind, friendly, and attentive — she made the evening even more enjoyable. Can’t wait to come back!
