Google
Compact with outside seating, but tables were quite close together. Staff we lovely and friendly and our first try of the cinnamon bun was delicious and certainly enough to share. Coffee was good quality and perfect location for watching the world go by. Give it a visit

Google
Adequately situated in the square in old town, you can grab a seat and have a view of the square whilst ordering a bite and a drink. The prices are friendly and they have great desserts

Azelle K.

Google
My family and I came here and got seated outside. There is a decent amount of seating but the tables are so close to each other that you really can’t move. Our server was also expressionless and didn’t smile a single time… Got the hot chocolate and it was very good! It was nice and creamy and looked very visually appetizing. However, it’s not that sweet so be aware of that when you order this!

Google
We only stopped by for a drink, but it turned out to be a lovely spot to sit back, relax, and enjoy the pretty square. Service was quick and friendly, and the interior has plenty of charm ✨

Google
Cozy cafe with wonderful staff. The cinnamon buns and white hot chocolate were delicious. Very reasonable prices considering the location

Google
Delightful little place to rest and have a bite in the middle of a busy day of sightseeing. The soup of the day was fabulous. The the bread, delicious.

Google
Very good place to sit and enjoy Gamla!!! Fika good desserts amazing, not a lot of variety on salad food and drinks. But overall very good and the waitress with the sweet voice super super nice!!!!

Google
We visited here on a busy Saturday lunchtime just after changing of the guard at The Royal Palace. Staff were very friendly and helpful in getting us a table for 4, where we enjoyed fabulous tea, coffee, hot chocolate and pastries. It was very warm and cosy inside, a welcome break from the bitterly cold weather outside. This is clearly a very popular cafe as it was constantly busy with every table full. We only had pasties, but the food going to other tables looked delicious and a decent portion size. If I visit Stockholm again, I wouldnt hesitate in coming back here again, we loved it.

Yelp
Right in the heart of the old town is Chokladkoppen, which makes for a great place to stop and rest after lots of walking through Stockholm's Gamla Stan (Old Town). Sometimes you just need somewhere to catch your breath, catch up, and plan for the rest of the day. Chokladkoppen did that for me. I had the Hot Chocolate and a cinnamon bun, and leisurely sat at my table for at least 30 minutes. There was never pressure to move on, which is so common, at least in the US ("Are you finished working on that? Can I bring you something else? Can I bring you a box?). The hot chocolate was dark, very much tasted like quality chocolate, and like a warm massage. I also ate one of their cinnamon buns, which are very popular in Stockholm. It also hit the spot. The cost of the hot chocolate was $6 USD and the cinnamon bun was a few cents less. The view from the table and people watching alone was worth the total $12 cost, but so was the hot chocolate and cinnamon bun.

Yelp
This place had really great service and a cute interior which is why I am sad to have to give it less than five stars. Unfortunately, the broccoli soup I ordered was just not good, and my boyfriend got the chicken curry baked potato, only to receive a chicken salad potato. Perhaps a translation error, but it was not the best culinary experience.

Yelp
Very quaint Café in Gamla Stan. My husband and I shared a delicious moist cinnamon bun. This was the best that I've tasted so far in Stockholm.
google avatar

Alexis B.

Yelp
On a day of exploring Gamla Stan, we stopped at Chokladkoppen for a couple of coffees. I was primed not to expect much, because it is in the heart of Gamla Stan - Storgoret, the oldest square in Stockholm. There were a million people in the square (it was probably the most crowded place we went over several days in Stockholm), but Chokladkoppen and its prime people watching location called to me. We sat, enjoyed two coffees, and took in the square. The service was fast and friendly. I wouldn't have minded getting a dessert or a snack if we hadn't just eaten lunch. It was a surprise. I really enjoyed our little break at Chokladkoppen.
google avatar

Yelp
Raspberry pie, apple cake, cinnamon bun. All delicious. Perfect little cafe on the square. Everything came out fast. So nice.

Yelp
After walking around the Nobel Museum across the square, the group decided to grab a bite for lunch. Chokladkoppen looked like it had something to please everyone. The space itself is...cozy. Quite small and every inch of space is used. Get over the space thing and you're in for a fun treat. I was intrigued by the mention of glögg on the sandwich board outside. I definitely enjoyed it and my gingersnap even broke in three for good luck! I ended up getting the baked potato with chicken curry. Man - the potato was huge with a very generous serving of the curry AND then also had a side salad. It was more than enough food for me. Someone else in the group got soup, which also came with a little side sandwich. It was definitely a cute cafe and worth a stop in.
google avatar

Wally T.

Yelp
Great location ... right in the square of the Nobel Prize Museum and in one of the oldest buildings in "Old Town" Stockholder. Very inexpensive and the service was great! The Wait staff was very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed a large Potato with Chicken Curry - that was huge enough for two (2) to share! Also had hot chocolate and their homemade carrot cake .... All delish and highly recommend if you're on a tight budget and have a long wait to get into the museum
google avatar

Krissia M.

Yelp
So cute, quaint and charming! Had the best chai latte I ever had - loose leaf tea infused in perfectly steamed milk topped with foam. The food and pastries were delicious as well. I enjoyed the salad and the apple tart which was not overly sweet. Very nice and accommodating staff. We came with my grandmother who uses a portable wheelchair and they were able to find room and keep it folded away so we could enjoy our meal. It's a very small cafe which adds to the cozy feeling!
google avatar

Chun P.

Yelp
The rainbow flags decorated outside this casual cafe helped make this quick decision as to where to grab coffee and light lunch...I'm a strong supporter of the LGBT community. 85 SEK for the daily soup, which that day was some sort of creamy aromatic pea soup that was absolutely perfect for a light lunch. In Sweden, soup comes in giant bowls! It also came with a generous portions of bread topped with cheese and veggies. The coffee was great too! They also had some nice looking pastries and sandwiches. The service was fabulous too, thanks Daniel!

Yelp
On our visit to Stockholm we went to to this cute little cafe on the main square of Gamla Stan. We got there pretty late around half an hour before closing but the server Emigen was very nice and we stuck up a good conversation with him while we enjoyed different desserts and some lasagne. Stockholm is an exciting city and this is one of the charms of the place. Gamla Stan is the old city and you are able to find gems all over town just like chokladkoppen. The food was really good and we ended up finding out that Emigen was really a good dancer and should really be on dancing with the stars than working here. Follow him on instagram he has quite the following. 4 stars charming cafe on the main square of Gamla Stan. If you are there pop in for a drink or dessert.
google avatar

Sherry W.

Yelp
You can skip this place. We had the hot chocolate. Nothing exciting. Not sure why people think it's the best. Very cramped inside. Slow service. It's very loud. Young crowd. No wifi. Outdoor seating is better for people watching but it's packed. Expensive!!! Go to sunbergs for hot chocolate...much better tasting and comes with cup of whip cream. Better atmosphere too!
google avatar

Olivia K.

Yelp
When in Sweden, you must fika. So that's exactly what I came here to do. When I first walked in with my friend, we noticed quite a lot of people in such a small/dim setting, but surprisingly we got seated fairly quickly. (They do their best to accommodate seating) Chokladkoppen is definitely a place known for their fika (pastries/desserts paired with coffee/tea). They had a variety of coffee/tea as well as an assortment of pastries/desserts. (Yes, they do also have regular food options as well) I opted for the cinnamon bun and their mochaccino. I've noticed that their portions are big, which was a big thumbs up. Their mochaccino came in a fairly wide/big cup, so I definitely got the caffeine that I needed for the day. The cinnamon bun was larger than I expected too. They gave fork/knifes along with it, so you know it's big. I enjoyed my fika. It was the perfect downtime that I needed in the middle of the day.

Ted C.

Yelp
Warm service from a delightful and energetic staff. The method for making the hot chocolate was brilliant and tasted as good as it looked. We all agreed that it was the best hot chocolate any of us had ever tasted.
google avatar

Lisa W.

Yelp
I love this little cafe. The people watching, the location, the front patio, the latte, and the sweets. The lattes come out in a Japanese miso soup like bowl. Sipping on some latte and get the sweets! We got the white chocolate cheesecake, the caramel pie, and their cinnamon roll. The white chocolate cheesecake and the caramel pie was delicious. The whip cream on the caramel pie wasn't sweet, which was good. You can skip the cinnamon roll, it's so dry... definitely not the American cinnabon you are thinking of with the melted sweet cream. It is quite more cinnamony. Good place to take a break from all the site seeing.

Yelp
Chokladkoppen is located in Gamla Stan next to the Nobel museum. I saw more tourists here than any other part of Stockholm I've ever been to. Our waiter was from Italy and was super impressive because he spoke Italian, Swedish, English, and Spanish. He provided excellent service as well. My sister ordered an orange juice which she enjoyed and I ordered the cold chocolate drink and an apple pie. The apple pie crust was super crunchy and tasty and the cold chocolate drink was good as well. The outdoor patio for this restaurant was almost always full but there never seemed to be a wait or line. I ate at Vapiano beforehand but they serve lunch here as well if you want to have a meal.
google avatar

Jacqueline T.

Yelp
This is a cute little cafe right on the main square in Gamla Stan. We just came to get dessert and we didn't have to wait at all. We got a lemon meringue tart and the princess cake. Both were good, but the princess cake was by far the best. They had an English menu and the waitress was friendly. I would highly recommend coming here for some dessert!

Yelp
My hubby and I were visiting the Gamla Stan island, what a cool place by the way. So we got this two very famous buildings in the old town, which you can found it quite often on the postcard. There we saw Chokladkoppen, so we decided to grab a coffee and enjoy the view a bit. And it happened to be a gay friendly café, that really nice. Inside the café wasn't so big actually, much smaller than I expected and it was kind of dark, even in the sunny day. So the waiter turned on the light for us. I also found a local gay magazine which lay on the table, it was great to get to know the gay sense in the city. The magazine QX is free for the guests, just take a copy if you want. I ordered a cup of Mochaccino, never really tried it before. It tasted alright to me, but my partner didn't really like it so much. It was a bit too sweet for him. The place was so fully when we were visiting, well, it was kind of predictable because of the location, so I was happy that we could at least get a place to sit down. The seats outside usually are fully. So if you spot a free seats, better hurry up before someone else take it. I also heard there are make some events quite often, it could be fun. The square Stortorget in front of the café hast some music live performing usually. Great place to enjoy it and relax.

Yelp
I ate the best carrot cake ever in my life Wonderful place to rest from walking through the city of Stockholm. Recommended!

Marvin D.

Yelp
Delicious white hot chocolate and friendly service with outdoor seating on a busy plaza right outside an historic Nobel locale.
google avatar

Sarah T.

Yelp
Hmmm i am not sure why this place is so popular/famous. We got hot white chocolate and white chocolate macchiacino which were served in a small teeny timy jar. Nothing speical... The semla was not that good, borderline average. The place is nicely located next to the nobel prize museum and though it looks pretty on the outside, it was very small and dark inside Service was great though but a bit too pricey even for stockholm standard
google avatar

Joana G.

Yelp
Chokladkoppen has two separate small spaces right next to each other. The decoration is simple and very antique/vintage. In the summer time, It has one of the best outdoor sitting decks in gamla stan with lots of sun light. The hot chocolate is famous because it is delicious, although I personally enjoy a thicker consistency. The kanelbulle here is one of the best in town but if you are craving for something else there is a great variety of cakes to choose from. Overall a good fika place which becomes at its best in the summer.
google avatar

Carly F.

Yelp
Come here for the blue cheese and broccoli pie (quiche). Read about it in a travel book and it did not disappoint!
google avatar

Stephanie M.

Yelp
We were recommended to this shop by another local shop owner. The prices and the coffee are best here she said. When we arrived, the owner was just opening up, but was very sweet and welcomed us in. We got two lattes and he asked if we wanted cinnamon in it, which was perfect! there is a tiny bathroom in the tiny interior. I loved the decor.
google avatar

Alysha V.

Yelp
Cute, but insanely crowded and dim. They have the tiniest tables and chairs I've ever seen in a restaurant, *and* they're all about 4 inches apart from each other. The bathroom is also the tiniest, most cramped bathroom I've ever been in. I got the Chai Latte, which was fine. Nothing special except for the dish it was served in--more of a miso soup bowl than a mug. We shared the chocolate ball, which would have been great if it hadn't been loaded with coconut flakes inside. I really don't like coconut, and it wasn't mentioned on the menu--I'm not allergic so I never make a point to ask first, but the texture was just off. Also, everything came with a slice of orange. not really sure what that was all about.
google avatar

Reema S.

Yelp
Forgettable experience. Mochaccino tasted like ovaltine. Cinnamon bun was too large and super dry. Seating inside is crowded. Very easy to knock over everything. Bathroom is claustrophobic. Lightning is awfully dim. Feels like a dungeon. Service is hit or miss. Mugs don't have handles so your beverage is served to you with the waiters hands on the rim of your cup. Let's hope he/she washed them after taking their last shit. Avoid this place it's a tourist trap. Go to Johan and Nystrom instead. That place would put this shithole outa business if they were in Gamla.
google avatar

Christian D.

Yelp
It was a bit cold and we needed something to warm up. What better than hot chocolate (delicious and not too sweet)? Mine was with a shit of coffee (mochachino)! They also have excellent pastries. I tried the raspberry pie and it was lovely. Oh, and did I say, nice people too!
google avatar

Anne F.

Yelp
It was a sunny day in Stockholm, so I took my drink to go from the "walk-through" window, to walk through the streets of the Old City. I had a Hot White Chocolate, which was delicious, but since white chocolate is so sweet, the portion size could have been cut down a bit. By the time I'd reached the last half of the cup, I was more than fulfilled.
google avatar

Kunde A.

Yelp
a cute small place/cafe on the stortoget. Worlds best carrot cake with a delicious frosting on top..... No commercial place only for individualists . Gay friendly as well .... Enjoy and try.....
google avatar

Sherah B.

Yelp
I love this coffee shop! I bookmarked this place weeks before I even took my trip to Sweden, and as I walked through Gamla Stan on my first day, I spotted it! I was so excited! The cardamom cake is delicious here, and very Swedish. One of our friends who was with us is Swedish, and he commented how this cake tasted like what his grandmother used to make. You know it's authentic! The coffee was also good. I had a cappuccino and was not disappointed. Highly recommended for coffee, cake, and people watching!
google avatar

Kenny B.

Yelp
The location of this cafe is unbeatable. It's also open pretty late, by Stockholm standards. Thus ends its redeeming qualities. Don't trust the reviews raving about the hot chocolate. All we got was lukewarm milk with straight cocoa in it. Sitting outside in the Nobel laureate square more than made up for the lame libations, so I'd still consider swing by if your in old town. If I came back, I'd roll he dice on one of the four other cafes that currently share the square. If you really want hot chocolate, make the trip to chokaladfabriken. Since one star is the lowest you can rate a place on Yelp, this cafe gets two, but solely for the location and friendly service.
google avatar

Jeryl C.

Yelp
This place serves a great mocha, as you might guess from its name. They also have a substantial menu of food, and a couple of beer selections, along with friendly service. When I visited, they had lasagna as a daily special, and it was quite tasty. You can sit on one of the comfy chairs out front, drinking your beverage of choice, while people watching on Stortorget, which is one of its best features.
google avatar

Madde J.

Yelp
We spend 300sek on 2 sandwiches, 2 cinnamon buns, 1 coffee and 1 can of pepsi. Even for Stockholm that is insanity! We ended up tossing most of the sandwiches and the buns, bread was too dry. The reason this place gets 1 star is that while I sat around and waited for our take-out, a waiter told the owner (?) a customer from outside had complained about a bug in her food. The owners comment: Ugh, its summer and they are sitting outside! Of course they are going to have bugs in their food.. AND proceeds to walk outside with the food himself to tell the customer this. He comes back in a minute later, huffing and puffing and goes: Ugh.. I'm not in the mood to fight with customers today. Just take it off! And the waiter just picks the bug off the plate and brings it back out to the customer ! Yuck! I also saw the waiter grabbing the TOP part of forks and knifes with his hands after handling money, credit cards and who knows what out on the patio. Ugh, nasty!
google avatar

Daniel R.

Yelp
Pricey but worth it. Little bit noisy when the coffee machine is on but the cakes are really tasty. Has a great location but this is a tourist hotspot so be prepared for that. Very cosy and a nice, modern wooden interior. Great place.
google avatar

Nikki N.

Yelp
Delicious hot chocolate in a big cup. A nice selection of cakes, other sweets and small meals too. Just a little bit pricy, but possibly worth it if you love hot chocolate
google avatar

Dia H.

Yelp
Lovely place with really good hot choclate in a cute square in the old town of Stockholm. The cakes looked really good too but unfortunately I already had a wonderful piece of cake in a place that I can not find here but was on a corner somewhere in Zinkdamen so I had my share of sweets. It was a gay place but most of the clientele was not, maybe at night it's different but who cares when it comes to loving? And they sure love chocolate.
google avatar

Shivangi K.

Yelp
Five stars because of the hot chocolate alone. I had read that this cute and cosy little cafe serves some of the best hot cocoa in the world, but I was skeptical until I tried it for myself. The blend of milk and chocolate and cream and cocoa powder and foam was absolutely on point. The waiter was so helpful and gave me a mini lesson about the chocolate after we had finished. The interior is beautiful, though the tables are a little cramped. It's location in Stortorget Square makes it touristy, but it's still worth it. Definitely try the cocoa!!
google avatar

Eva L.

Yelp
Based on reviews, the white hot chocolate and white chocolate cheese cake seemed the most unique so we went with that. The white hot chocolate was SWEEEEET as heck. Waaaaaaay to sweet for me. The white chocolate cheese cake was also sweet but less so, compared to the hot chocolate. All in all... Unique, but not worth.

Em Z.

Yelp
Read so many reviews about this place and how amazing it was. Not worth the hype though. The desserts EVERYWHERE in Sweden are good, so if this is a place at the top of your list, knock it down about 7 spaces. Cheesecake was very yummy, but the attention to service (when three people were working and we were the only people inside) took away from that.
google avatar

Danielle L.

Yelp
This place is amazing. I'm so surprised it has so few stars. We sat down and were warmly greeted. Wd say outside and it looks out to the square and it's very nice for people watching. We ordered the chocolate ball which is absolutely amazing. We also had a glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice. This place is very reasonably priced and so delicious! Highly recommend and would like to go back. We spent less than 10 usd. Love this place
google avatar

Tyler B.

Yelp
We were looking for some dessert after an amazing dinner and decided to try Chokladkoppen. Very warm and inviting with a lot of lit candles. It smelled like Christmas as soon as we walked in. It was likely the fresh baked good in the oven. Our server was extremely friendly. She came and sat next to us and made great conversation. We had the chocolate cake and pie which were very good. They have various coffees and some savory food also.
google avatar

Samina H.

Yelp
Well worth the hype, this is the best hot chocolate I have ever had. It is creamy and thick and perfectly sweet. I was unable to sit down but will definitely come again next time I travel here! I recommend sitting outside on the patio and people-watching. The building is so heavily photographed, you're bound to see many tourists.
google avatar

Ada P.

Yelp
Perfect place for a rainy day. The hot chocolate is amazing here. It gets crowded, so be prepared to wait. The kannel bulle was good as well. Would definitely come back.
google avatar

Andreas F.

Yelp
Since 10yrs my favourite cafe in Stockholm ! The only truly remarkable and recommendable gay place in the city ! The white chocolate is the best !! Unfortunately in the last years a bit overrun by tourists and German housewives....
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
A cracking little cafe with nice coffee, cake and views. They even supply blankets for days like when I visited and it's a little on the cold side. 4/5 stars because you are squeezed in to a tiny place, which is both one of its charms but also one of it's downfalls. Removing one or two tables would certainly make for a more private experience. The cake was tasty and although the coffee a little on the colder side, it tasted great. The veggie lasagne also looked nice based upon what was served to the lady next to us.
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
I was drawn to this place based on the Yelp reviews, and was surely disappointed. I feel like the rating were completely inflated making it a complete tourist trap. People swear by the hot chocolate, but don't be fooled. Yes, the portion was large, but I really did not like the hot chocolate. I can't really explain why, it just wasn't good. On top of that, the server took forever to serve it, so the hot chocolate was not even hot when I received it.
google avatar

Renegade F.

Yelp
5 stars for the best apple pie I've had in I don't know how long. I ended up coming back and getting it on a second night.

Dan W.

Yelp
Cinnamon roll is delish and enough for two! Coffee strong, tasty and hot. Hot chocolate is very good and a generous portion.
google avatar

Brooke B.

Yelp
Really good service and great hot chocolate! It's all I got but it's not very sweet. And I LOVE sweet! My husband very aptly described it as what he would imagine Willy Wonka's chocolate river to taste like! Give it a try.
google avatar

Steven L.

Yelp
Food was great and service was efficient and friendly. The chicken with pesto pasta salad was tasty. The desserts and hot chocolate were not as sweet as in the US. It took my taste buds a bit to adjust, but once they did I found both to be absolutely delicious.
