Very unique spot for Vietnamese restaurants. Very cool concept with elevated street food. Everybody who is looking for good food, music and drinks should come here. We had the green mango salad which was very refreshing. Perfect for the hot Hong Kong summer. Service was very friendly and we felt very welcomed, we will definitely come back.

I recommend booking a table — got there at 19:30 and was very lucky to have one available. Love the open kitchen, everything is so fresh and made on the spot. 80$ for the water (lol), but okay I guess? It was my first time trying Vietnamese food and I absolutely enjoyed every bite. Very friendly and lovely service. If I can just point one small but very inconvenient detail: the playlist was absolutely awful! Heavy rap/hiphop and so loud you could barely hear the person sitting across the table, horrible!! Would really enjoy something more laid back instead

Google
What a joyful night. Went there for the black series tasting menu and it definitely delivers! My favorites are the chicken wings and soft shell crab rice paper roll. A big thumbsup to Jema, who was so friendly and welcoming. Recommend the drinks and the vibe.

Google
A highly enjoyable experience at a good price point considering the quantity of food. We ordered the chefs menu which was $258pp (not including 10% service charge). We were served the hamachi and pomelo, pho spring rolls, chicken and cabbage salad, tamarind pork ribs and 2 sides - eggplant and carrot. When individually added up, the set menu is good value for money and very very filling. Standout dishes were the carrots (the sauce was tasty but on the sweeter side) and the chicken and cabbage salad. The pork ribs were on the dry side and the other dishes were good but nothing else particularly stood out. We ordered the calamansi lime soda but couldn’t really taste the calamansi. It was basically just sour soda water. Wouldn’t order this again. (Hence -1 star) Service was good too. The waitresses were attentive with filling up water and the food was brought out at a reasonable pace. The candlelit ambience was romantic and very date-night vibe. However, overall still a great feed and would recommend to others to try.

We had a fantastic evening at Chom Chom 🤩 We pass this restaurant quite often and finally made it today. It was a fantastic experience. Despite the brilliant food the service was outstanding. The whole crew was so friendly, the chef was serving the food to our table and we were able to enjoy the open kitchen concept the whole evening. A special thanks to Rakesh who made the evening even more enjoyable! Thank you guys and see very soon again

Was lucky to get a table on Thursday night when me and my bf made no reservations. The menu was no fuss. It was straightforward to order. My bf and I really enjoyed the dishes immensely. The portions were good for 2 to share. We ordered the Salad and Chicken which was refreshing, the duck wrap came out piping hot with sides of lettuce and pickles as wrap, alongside a minty sauce. The best dish had to be the Tamarind Pork ribs! Succulent and off the bone. Really tasty and makes you crave for more which me and my bf are looking forward to trying other dishes making sure we make reservations! Highly recommended!

Google
Great food and great people. Try the hamachi-pomelo plate, the pho rolls and the chicken wings. Drinks are great.

Google
Every dish is well thought out, which dipping sauce and what sides to go with it. The flavours are complex but balanced. The restaurant is very lively and vibrant. My favourite dish was the crispy duck rolls. Meaty and crunchy and paired well with the pickles and sauce. Cocktails were great too. Service is personal and the staff are great.

Yelp
This place is always busy and is typically only open for dinner. With the Covid restrictions I was able to finally eat here during lunch time. They take a creative take on Vietnamese food from the northern part of Vietnam. If you are looking for pho you won't find that here. The food is decent but I was expecting more given I'm paying a premium price wise. They really are aggressive with the sugar in their dishes and you really need to like things sweet to enjoy their interpretation of some the dishes. Food: 3.5 stars Service: 4 stars Value: 3 stars Overall: 3 stars Cha Ca hanoi is one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes after having it in Hanoi. As mentioned earlier the version here is really aggressive with the sugar. Otherwise I think the flavors are pretty good. Dill and scallions are proportioned nicely and the fish is cooked well. The Bun Cha also suffers from being really sweet. It isn't that sweet in the places I've had it in Hanoi. I think I would have enjoyed my meal more if I only had one of the two. For the appetizers I had the spring rolls and the Vietnamese pizza. Spring rolls are pretty standard and delivered on kind of what I expected. The Vietnamese pizza is probably something I wouldn't order again.

Yelp
A hip place to explore flavors of Vietnamese food, Vietnamese fusion is an appropriate label for this restaurant's fare. I visited with two coworkers celebrating our time together and wanting to enjoy good food. This place had been on my list of places to try in Hong Kong before leaving, so we made the trek here, as is typical for us. We ordered a pitcher of the Pho-jito which is as you may have guessed, a pho-inspired mojito. With birds eye pepper in the mix, you get a pretty delicious drink. We also got the Vietnamese Fried Chicken which was excellent with the Pho-jito. I scoured the menu for my Vietnamese food favorites, but the food here seems more Vietnamese-inspired. 8 will say that the egg rolls were standard. The banh cuon however was not. A pho flavored banh cuon (they called it the "pho roll") gave me serious confusion in theory but in practice, it wasn't bad at all. I found it delicious! As an adventurous foodie, this place was worth a visit and perhaps future revisits.

Yelp
I was craving Vietnamese Bun Bo Hue noodles, but a last minute change in location from TST to Central brought me and my friend to Chom Chom. "There won't be any BBH at Chom Chom," my friend warns me. "It's alright, we'll save it for next time," I reply. I had previously heard great things about Chom Chom, but also that it was overrated. My taste buds were going to the be the judge that evening. I wasn't sure if they took reservations, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to call in advance, even if it was a Tuesday night. As I slowly made my way up Peel Street from Hollywood Rd, I gave them a ring and was told that there was a table for two available at the moment, but it wouldn't be held for long. I rushed up the steep ascent of Peel, but upon arriving in an unfortunate sweaty mess, I was told my friend had to be present in order to be seated. As I squeezed between the tables and the bar seating towards the bathroom in the back, I couldn't help but notice how small the place was. What do you expect in Soho...? BUT the cool thing though, is that they have outdoor "seating" - aka a tall stack of plastic blue stools - and large cooler of alcoholic beverages to satisfy and curb your thirst before heading inside. We ordered the following: Drinks: Pho-Jito and Saigon Sour The second I saw this punny drink, I knew I had to get it. I couldn't resist, pho real. And shared these dishes: 1. Eggplant and Crab "Salad" --- Refreshing, but surprisingly quite spicy! Must be the jalapeños! But..the chicharon was not crunchy at all, possibly stale..? 2. Shaking Beef with Rice --- the beef tenderloin was very very tender! A few cons... 1. They didn't pour any water for us until we asked for it... Thought it was customary for restaurants in HK to serve water along with dinner? Or I could be confusing it with the US... 2. The music volume just kept going up and up as we ate and chatted our way through dinner. Towards the end, I felt like I WAS TALKING LIKE THIS. I CAN'T HEAR YOU, CAN YOU HEAR ME? What is this, Chom Chom? A restaurant or a club? 3. Price point - Soho/Central prices; for one appetizer, one main, and two drinks, the total came up to be shy of HK$600. After paying the bill, my friend and I left Chom Chom with a sigh of relief, and decided to go to a quieter place across the street for some beers.

Yelp
Chôm Chôm gives off this vibe of "the place to see and be seen". On popular weeknights, you'll always see a crowd hanging outside, either waiting for a table or imbibing and chatting over cigarettes. I was surprised that we were able to walk-in without a reservation on a Friday; guess you can snag a table if you come early enough. We tried everything that Yelpers recommended: the pho rolls (like pho, but in sushi form), VFC Vietnamese Fried Chicken (perfectly fried and seasoned with a little spicy kick), salt & pepper squid (dat sauce doe) and the shaking beef (shaken, not stirred, and delish.) All were fantastic! Don't forget to check out what's listed on the mirror menu next to the bar, as there seem to be specials there that are worth trying. I didn't notice it until after we ordered, and the table next to us seemed to be really enthused with the tuna rolls. The only thing I didn't enjoy was my Mekong Lady cocktail. It was supposed to have flavours of lemongrass and lemon, but it tasted like straight up gin. Not sure what happened there!

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place but what started off as good, just went downhill throughout the night. Came for a late supper on a Saturday night so I put my name down and ordered a drink while I waited outside. The crowd and vibe is very soho, young expats, fun and easy going with good music playing in the background. As I was solo I like sitting at the bar to talk to the chefs to see what's good and to check out the scene. Well something was off because nobody behind the bar is smiling or even remotely friendly. Kind of a buzz kill really. Maybe it was later in the night (11pm) or they just wanted to go home? Either way it kinda set the mood. On to the food! Being solo I could only order 2 dishes and a drink: Pho-jito - pho-nomenal! A riff of a mojoto was delicious and spicy! Honestly it was the best part of the meal! VFC - not sure what the hype is or how this is viet style. It's just plain wings with some Thai chili sprinkled on top and scallions. Black Cod - not bad. Fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce over rice was tasty! A good combination of salt and sweet going on. My server was sweet and she was the friendliest one there. Oh and the host was a good guy as well. He was on point with getting people in and out while attending to some of the drinks. Other than that, nothing to write home about. Something must be awesome here cuz it's ALWAYS packed but I just don't see it. Maybe your experience will be better!

Yelp
If people in Hong Kong used Yelp as much as we do in the states, Chom Chom would easily have 5 stars and reviews in the thousands. Chom Chom was one of our best meals in Hong Kong. The location of the restaurant is in Lan Kwai Fong which is a really fun part of town with great nightlife...tons of expats out and about drinking and having a good time at the bars. Every dish we got was packed with bold flavor and with every bite my husband and I were going OMG so good soooo good!!! I have a new found appreciation for Vietnamese food and will definitely go out of my way to seek out more Vietnamese cuisine back in LA. Also, the staff was incredible and so patient despite it being a busy night. It was such a cool experience to see everything being cooked in such a small open kitchen. Now on to the food. We ordered (1) Pho Roll (beef rice rolls); (2) Caramel Black Cod, (3) VFC, and (4) siracha grilled corn. I am so sad that we didn't have room in our stomachs to order more because everyone kept ordering the calamari and I would have loved the try that too! They also have great drinks-- I ordered the pho-jito and it was perfect (Rum, Lemongrass, Lime, Mint, Thai Basil, Pepper), All of these are must trys and I wish we didnt go on our last night in Hong Kong because I would have wanted to go back to try more things. If you are in Hong Kong, you must check out Chom Chom. You wont be disappointed.

Yelp
An excellent Vietnamese spot in HK. The inside of Chom Chom is tiny and crammed in classic HK fashion. Food comes out really fast once you order, and boy is that a good thing. Food is so freaking tasty here and we devoured all our plates in minutes. Vietnamese fried chicken (VFC), pho rolls, and eggplant crab salad were delicious appetizers. But the real star of the show is the shaking beef. The shaking beef was so tender and so flavorful, it melted in my mouth and left my tastebuds feeling real happy. Cocktails here are on the weak and expensive side, so wouldn't really recommend them. No reservations allowed for this place, but both times I've been here with a party of 4 and we waited about an hour - 90 min on a Saturday night. The time will pass by pretty quickly when you walk a few steps across the street to the 7-11 and grab a premixed jack and coke while you wait and chat with other expats out on the streets ;)

Yelp
Fusion VN food.. but really more on play on VN food with flavors of pub/bar food. Some dishes were definitely flavorful while others (fried dishes) were too much batter for me. Chef Nguyen is friendly and nice though!

Yelp
One of the best meals we had during our visit to HK. We came here on a Saturday night - my husband's friend, who lives in Hong Kong, went before us to put his name is for a table, knowing that the wait would be ridiculously long. I think we got there an hour after him, and we still waited a very long time after we got there. We sat outside while waiting, and we were able to drink and people watch, so no big deal (aside from being extra hungry). It's pretty small inside, so I understand why it took a while to get seated. The food was worth the wait though! We ordered a lot, so I may be forgetting some items, but here's what I can remember. VFC Wings (2 orders!) Pho Roll - our server recommended this, and it was delicious Shrimp Rice Paper Roll Kaffir Chicken Cabbage Salad Black Caramel Cod Bun Cha Hanoi Short Rib Lettuce Wraps Everything was so good, and we were so full by the end of our meal. We totally had hungry eyes. Would definitely come back if we are in Hong Kong again, except I'd go during an off-peak time!

Yelp
This was my first meal after landing in Hong Kong. Could not have picked a better place to go, it was fricking awesome!!! Had the Pho rolls, Shaking Beef, Cha Cha Hanoi, and another Beef dish that was outstanding. The Cha Cha, white sol, was probably my least favorite, but thats just because all the other dishes were really good. I'm half Vietnamese and I've had my fair share of Pho, but I've never had a Pho roll before. Really cool concept! We went later in the evening so there was no wait, but the restaurant is very small and I've heard it fills up really quickly. The staff was all pretty cool, very attentive, and they gave us a free round of shots as well!

Yelp
I would like to give this place 5 stars but I can't. The food and drinks I had was just a bit lacking in flavor. Ambiance and concept get 5 stars door gets a 3.5ish. A bit overpriced for what it is, but not crazy over priced. I had the pho roll and the salt and pepper squid. They were good but in each bite I was left longing for more flavor. I was expecting a climax in flavor to happen at any moment but instead each bite fell limp. I went alone, and probably wouldn't go back unless I had company to try more dishes. The beef mains looked good and so did two of the salads. With that said, probably worth a visit just for the energy to the space. If I was a chef consultant I would suggest just add a little more kick to the dishes. When I eat SEA food I want to be punched In the mouth with flavor profiles, not left feeling like I need to go to the kitchen to grab my spices.

Yelp
I have been wanting to go to this place for quite some time but there's always a line so we finally made it there. We sat at the bar & ordered Handcrafted cocktails they were delicious. We ordered several dishes to share all were very good! We had the Vietnamese fried chicken wings, pho roll, and the caramel black cod , which we ate the cod before we took pictures. All the food was great!

Yelp
Modern Vietnamese in a chic Soho location? Well sign me right up! My dining companion and I grabbed two seats at the bar on a recent Tuesday evening. He warned that the popular little eatery doesn't take reservations, but we were prepared to take our chances (always have a nearby backup selected, right?). We could have taken a table but the bar was calling our name - and front row beverage service is never a bad thing. Within 2.5 minutes, I had a glass of perfectly-chilled Sauv Blanc in my hand! We looked over the menu and it was quite difficult making a decision between all the fetching choices - everything from salt & pepper squid and sriracha-grilled corn to caramel black cod and smoked eggplant with crab salad. Ultimately, we knew we absolutely had to have the famous VFC (the Vietnamese fried chicken wings), the pho rolls, and the mango and papaya beef salad. Under normal circumstances I would've also sprung for the sriracha-roasted corn, but a severe case of jet lag had greatly diminished my appetite. But then, said absent appetite was back! Once the food arrived - with its heady aromas and well-plated presentation - I was ready to eat. The VFC is definitely a can't-miss with its crispy exterior, zesty spice rub, and sauce consisting of garlic, coriander, and a touch of mint. Be prepared to use your hands because mere chopsticks won't support these meaty wings! I also adored the pho rolls - so unique. Imagine a wonton bursting with grilled beef, fresh rice noodles, pickled daikon and purple basil and you'll only have a small window into the greatness that is this dish. The mango and papaya beef salad didn't quite measure up to the two other dishes, but it was still quite good... and very refreshing. Prices are what you'd expect to pay at a trendy eatery in this area, but not outrageous considering the quality. You simply can't go wrong at Chôm Chôm - go!

Yelp
Lovely little place in Soho with amazing Vietnamese. Everything I've tried so far has been delicious. I prefer to go here with a couple of friends and share different dishes. Always a que but goes fast and you can enjoy a nice drink outside while waiting. Even this contributes to the whole atmosphere in a nice way. A must try is the salt and pepper squid and of course the papaya beef salad. Also love the complimentary shots "for the road" when you get the check.

Yelp
The Yelp Community is really the best. Not only does it steer you in the right direction, it tells you what to consider purchasing while there. Such was the case again with Chom Chom. We had a great meal and will absolutley be back. A great vibe at this restaurant/bar. If I was a day drinker and this place was open during the day (only open at night), I would consider claiming this spot as my church. Creative, mixologist inspired cocktails and welcoming little bar. We went with suggestions on food via Yelp of VFC (Vietnamese Fried Chicken wing bucket), Pho Roll, Salt & Pepper Squid, Cha Ca Hanoi (sole fillet). In order of our top picks...#1) Pho Roll, #2) Cha Ca Hanoi #3) Salt & Pepper Squid #4) VFC (not sure I get the allure of this item. The chicken wing itself is indeed a good wing, but the spice or garlic or seasoning did nothing for me. I think the world just likes the concept of wings and if you fall under this category, maybe this is going to be spectactular to you and your #1 item from this bar. We thought the vibe of this spot was cool, staff was cool and efficient and we will be back. Despite my comments about cool, no pretension in this place and I liked that. Like many places, it is small, so although we went early and did not wait in line, either make a reservation or buy a beer from the guy out front and be prepared for a little bit of a wait.

Yelp
Bruh...bomb af. I don't live in HK, so I basically wrote this review as a bookmark and reminder for the next time I go so I can stop in again. If you live there or are visiting, do yourself a favor and try this place out. We sat at the kitchen bar, had plenty of drinks and watched a show-like display by the chef and the rest of the restaurant staff. Food was beyond exceptional and everyone was so nice.

Yelp
The chain Blacksheep always try to preserve authentity for their cusine. Bep is young. Chom chom.is perfect for happy hour, late dinner, anger release, promotion celebration. it is for all. the first visit i only got the black cod which is a refined dish. Came back for the VFC. Not bad as buffelo but still ready to get your hands dirty. It is juicy with strong lime dressing. Being asian, i do prefer lime to mayo for fried chicken. The favoriate dish goes to salt and pepper squid. Typical south east asian deep fried seafood. Thin frying flower that the squid got all the crisp credit. Lightly seasoned, just a pinch each. Waiting time can be a nightmare. This uprising gem in central Soho. I am excited to get some beer next time!

Yelp
I came back to this place for the third time over two years. I live Los Angeles and we have a lot of amazing Vietnamese restaurants. That's what I loved about this place. Often when you travel overseas you don't get places that have such bold flavors as you find in the states. I ordered the sizzling beef and the pho rolls. The Faroles are spectacular but the sizzling beef seem quite ordinary. I wish they had a spicy chili fish off to add more depth of flavor. I do like the interior of the place

Yelp
Just walking by in the soho area, pick this one which is off the main street because it looks nice from outside. It was around 5:30 so we just wanna get some drink and snacks first. Drink was ok, we ordered spring roll and chicken wings, service girl recommended the special set of the day which is bbq king prawn, we didnt want to eat too much but she said it was two, each one. So we Agreed to try. It turn out all foods were very good. Spring roll is bit prizy, rest ok. Will return again.

Yelp
One of my favourite Vietnamese restaurant in HK by far. All the staff are great and help you in anyway they can, but the prices doesn't make it a restaurant you will eat at all the time but def a great place with awesome ambiance and vibe for a great date night or if you have someone visiting from other country. Ps: their VFC are just spectacular.
google avatar

Hayden H.

Yelp
Came here for a quick meal before heading to the peak that evening and it turned out to be the best Vietnamese food I've ever had. The VFC, Prawn Crackers and Lamb are a must. Went in without expectations and left extremely happy. The only place that can rival the flavors I had here is Xiao Bao Biscuit in Charleston. Also, they have Happy hour here. Definitely come and take advantage of it as you get a bucket of VFC instead of a couple pieces.

Yelp
To be honest I don't get the hype. Yes it's a cool place, the vibe is good, it's in the middle of soho and an abundance of good looking people like to frequent the establishment, whether to eat or hang outside and have drinks. However that's not how I judge a restaurant. Food, taste and value are my main factors. Service comes into play a little but again, depends on how much my bill was right? So chom chom, the Vietnamese food was not authentic, which I expected as it was too cool to be truly authentic, but I didn't expect it to be so salty and oily. The pho rolls which everyone seems to love was tasty, but also super oily. This made sense when I saw one of the chefs pull these rolls out of pans of oil. We then ordered the main dishes - fish, beef and ginger chicken. The ginger chicken came later as we were still not full with one starter and 2 larger plates between 2 girls, well, we can be big eaters, but their potion size is not huge let's just say. The fish was done well, good flavours on top of a bed of vermicelli noodles which had also been seasoned. The beef and chicken however were more reminiscent of Chinese/Japanese cooking than Vietnamese. I swear I ate a pepper beef and a teriyaki chicken with rice, way too salty (and don't get me wrong I have a high tolerance for salt), and again, too oily. The bill well, 2 alcoholic beverages, 2 lime sodas, 1 tiny starter and 3 larger plates was $1000. Was it good value for dinner? Not really considering what I ate and drank. Maybe a cool date location, or if you want to people watch, would probably not return unless someone really want me to go with them again to try it out.
google avatar

Jim M.

Yelp
Black Cod and lettuce wraps were great. Fantastic people watching in Soho while you sip a drink waiting for your table

Yelp
The service was quick. I went for the VFC and they were perfect. Crispy, zesty and juicy. I also had a cocktail with Sriracha - very interesting mix. I came around 7pm and table were still avail. The place was packed by 7:30pm. Would I return? Yes.

Yelp
I ventured down the street and decided on this place after reading several reviews about how good the Vietnamese food is here. But to me this place is a but of an enigma. Did it have a traditional menu? Not quite. Did it taste good? Yes but not great. Did it taste authentic? Not quite Did it bring back memories of my mum's cooking? No. Definitely not. Was I satisfied at the end of the meal? Yes... Sort of. So the dishes on offer to me felt like modern take on Vietnamese dishes and the presentation was good generally. So I ordered salt and pepper squid, the beef in betel leaf, and bun cha pork skewers. The squid was fried until golden verging in brown. Was coated with a thicker coating than expected and had some black charred bits which I think is due to dirty oil. The beef betel leaves was nice. Flavours were there but I would have appreciated some pickled carrots and radish. The bun cha pork skewer was good. The fresh crispy vegetables was great, the vermicelli was well cooked and not soft. But the cha (pork meatballs) didn't have the traditional flavour I was expecting as it tasted like a bit of bacon was included. In saying that the meal was good... But I'm not a fan of making Vietnamese food more modern. Maybe I just had high expectations after reading all the great reviews. Maybe I should try some of the other dishes on the menu and reassess my opinion... But at the moment BEP which is not far from Chom Chom is my pick for Vietnamese food.... And it is cheaper.
google avatar

Anchisa P.

Yelp
Vietnamese place in Soho. A bit off-the-beaten-part / hard to find but serves excellent modern Vietnamese food. Recommend the pomelo salad, fish fillet, and pork buncha. A tad bit expensive. In general, prefer BEP to this (more options, better location, cheaper) for the food but would recommend Chom Chom for the vibe / drinks with food.

Yelp
I came here tonight for a Monday dinner. I called ahead of time to make a reservation, but they don't take reservations. Took the chance anyway as there were many second and third choices nearby... I arrived at around 7:30 and was able to be seated at the bar right away. Decor and ambience was nice, dim, much like many other places in soho. I don't quite recall any cool music though. We first ordered three plates between the two of us to test the portions, but were only half full after it and ordered two more. What was eaten: Shrimp Rice Paper Roll, Mango & Papaya Beef Salad,Bun Cha Pork Skewer, Salt & Pepper Squid, Shaking Beef. The paper roll was super yummy, with mango and avocado, it just melts in your mouth. The dipping sauce it came with was the perfect balance of tang and saltiness, it was good with anything that night. Beef salad came with the same dressing, the beef was very tender and marinated full of flavour. The papaya ( for those who aren't familiar) is the green type of papaya, so it's actually a bit crunchy and unsweet. Goes really well with the onions, carrots, and cucumber - perfect cold dish for this sweltering season! The pork skewer is to die for!!! Pork belly perfectly toasted and slightly crunchy on the outside bites into a soft, juicy and fatty inside. Melts right in between your teeth....made me think how fatty this all is, but I didn't care!! The meatball that came with the dish was also quite good, a very flavourful Asian take on a typically western meatball. Salt and pepper squid! Personally I thought the breading as a bit much and made the bites too dry to taste the squid. But the peppery crunchiness was so good dipped in that Mayo! Lastly, the shaking beef was the sauciest of all. It came with a dark thick sauce (like an Chinese BBQ), a ping of tang or kick of spice, I can't tell, but it was definitely a twist to something familiar that my mum makes. Must be the basil or viet herbs. The meat was so so tender, and the jasmine rice it came with was definitely a good call because the dish is otherwise too salty by itself. This shaking beef combined with the pepper squid make me super thirsty. (Probably the chefs secret for us to order more drinks!) Overall, very impressed with the food. The meat is very well marinated and prepared. But hundred dollars for a an appetiser, two hundred for a main dish?... The bill came to $800 for two people. We didn't even have drinks, but a bottle of still to share. I definitely did a double take when the bill came out. I was full but definitely could've had more. I would probably go back, for drinks and snack (must try those VFCs), but I won't count on having a full meal/ have a belly full :(

Yelp
Chom Chom opened up on Peel Street only last summer, but in my books, the VFC (the Vietnamese Fried Chicken) is something of a classic now. I don't know what's in that fryer, but the skin comes out delectably crispy and super-seasoned, and the fresh lime doused on top just makes it sing. If you go to Chom Chom, this is an absolute MUST-HAVE!! Other items are worthy of praise too. It's hard to narrow it down, as I'm pretty sure I've eaten the whole menu but, if we must: the grilled beef wrapped in pungent betel leaves are deliciously smoky; the Pho Rolls have a nice zing of mint and I have been known to eat a whole plate of these while waiting for other diners; and the 'Shaking' Beef, which are simply tenderloin bites shaken (not stirred) in a wok with loads of whole garlic bulbs, served with jasmine rice, is probably one of the better large plates. For salads, I'd go for the Smoked Eggplant with Crab, but that might just be because I'm partial to anything with aubergines and runny yolks. Another star is the Kaffir Lime Chicken Cabbage Salad which hits you with very strong flavours of red onion and mint. The drinks are generally quite sweet, but I don't mind that at all. Go for the Pho-jito, which is a clever take on the classic mojito, using Thai basil and lemongrass instead. The Far East Smash is even sweeter, with sugar cane infused vodka. If you're not big on cocktails, they've got Vietnamese brews like Saigon and Hanoi beer. Great place to go for after-work drinks and snacks.

Yelp
This is one of my fav restaurants in Hong Kong. A must go to. There's a guy called Clem there who is so hospitable and knows his food. He recommends great choices

Yelp
Great food, friendly staff and fast service. The VFC is a must order. You know an establishment is serious about its fried chicken when there is an abundance of moist towelettes conveniently available at each table.

Yelp
This place was great, and the pork ribs are probably the best thing I've eaten this year. Absolutely will go back and recommend it to anyone who likes to eat! Vietnamese small plates, reasonable prices, hip atmosphere and a friendly wait staff, this place is a real winner!

Yelp
Excellent food, excellent drinks, excellent experience. Fresh takes on familiar vietnamese food. Even waiting in line is a fun experience as you can order drinks outdoors while you wait. If you want a fun new experience but want some idea what the food you're ordering will taste like, this is a great option.

Yelp
While pho might be good for those cold winter nights, other equally-satisfying Vietnamese munchies fare well during the hot and humid summer. At Chôm Chôm, the menu is divided into categories of small bites, rolls, salads, vegetables, dessert - you get the picture. The menu is really extensive - it's basically impossible to find something that you would not like. Chôm Chôm is one of those restaurants that take street food and turn it into a full-fledged dining experience, with little to no variations in preparing the beloved street food. We started with the Vietnamese fried chicken aka VFC, topped with coriander and sprinkled with lime, which goes with a crunchy, tangy taste after every bite. It goes so well together that I can't blame you if you order seconds, even thirds. I love how it isn't thoroughly greasy like most hyped fried chicken in the city. The rolls, however, were disappointing. We already tried 4 different rolls and didn't find them exciting. One of the reasons I go to a restaurant is to eat something I cannot cook myself, and these tasted like something I could have done better. Better to save your dough in this regard. It's a good thing the kaffir lime chicken cabbage salad saved our palate, with its taste reminiscent of calamondin-based dishes of the Philippines. If you like to skip to the mains, there are six items to choose from with one beef dish, one chicken, one pork, and two fish dishes. I had fish the other day so I decided to skip the fish mains and have also tried a chicken dish (VFC) and didn't want pork so I went for the shaking beef, beautifully served with aromatic and chewy jasmine rice while the tender and succulent beef was entangled with watercress and peppery rocket. Not much a fan of rocket but it truly complements the beef here. My colleague washed it down with Sapporo beer and his night was as good as gold. I preferred a no-alcohol approach and ordered the calamondin (calamansi) soda. It was a satisfying full meal worth a second trip.

Yelp
Cute little Vietnamese eatery in Soho. There were four of us and we ordered a bunch of plates to share. We had the Bun Cha Pork Skewer, Caramel Black Cod, Salt & Pepper Squid, Mango & Papaya Beef Salad, Beef in Betel Leaf, and a couple other things. All were very good, especially the papaya salad. This place also has some pretty good craft cocktails. We got a table on a Friday night at 7pm-ish with very little wait. We were lucky, I think, because when we left, there were a lot of people waiting. I would recommend this place for a fun meal.

Yelp
This place seem to be favored by expat more than the locals. In fact the locals dont even know about it. Its way too small - we had to wait almost hour and half for our table and there was a long line. Felt rushed as soon as we sat down. Food and servcies were poor - WILL NOT REPEAT

Yelp
Always an absolute treat to visit Chom chom. The atmosphere is always so vibey and although it's always packed the wait is never too long. The Pho roll and the crispy sole roll are to die for and for some reason they always seem to have a gorgeous manager on duty which makes he dining experience all the more satisfying.

Yelp
Amazing Vietnamese good with laid back vibe in soho. Ordered pretty much every dish on the menu and was not disappointed in any. Don't miss out of the squid, corn, and cod.

Yelp
Great flavours- most items tend to be on the salty-side. Portions are larger than you would think. My boyfriend and I always leave too full after ordering spring rolls, rice rolls, shaking beef, and side of vegetables. It's probably too much food but hard to pick one to not order.

Yelp
This place is special! Every dish we ordered could be a signature dish. So much flavor and love in their food! Staff is great to. Never been to a restaurant that serves your complimentary beer while you wait for a table.

Yelp
Very good food with a lot of flavour. This is the kind of place that actually has a professional chef cooking for you instead of an untrained roach coach pan flipping plonker, as Gordon Ramsay would say. However, food here is not cheap. It was over 300 HKD for the shaking beef. I was left shaking my wallet for pennies at the end of the meal.

Yelp
Great vibe, loud music, excellent attentive staff. Not much choices on the menu but foods are great

Yelp
Beef pho roll was sooo good! Loved it. It reminded me the usual chinese rice roll but cripsy and good flavors. The cod fish is a little salty but not bad mixed with rice. The service is very friendly and nice. Music was too loud for my preference. Hard to have a conversation at a table.

Yelp
Three stars because it's quite uncomfortable and so small that you can barely go without having to wait. It's a very hectic meal. The food is excellent but pricey.

Yelp
The best food I had in Hong Kong! Service is sweet but a bit slow. Loved everything they had including the dragon fruit beer!

Yelp
Honestly the food is decently yummy but over priced (must be that expensive rent they're paying) but the service was rude. This restaurant has a really inflated ego. Came here early evening on a weekday and looked inside - there was only one table seated. Despite an empty restaurant, because the last person in our group of 3 was 10 mins late, the door lady made us stand outside uncomfortably on their little ledge thing instead of seating us. I understand if it was full and there was a line, but there was many empty tables and no one came in for about 45 mins after that. Wouldn't want to take anyone here after that.

Yelp
There's always a queue and for a very good reason. Flavoursome fresh food in a friendly environment. It's worth waiting for

Yelp
I went with my friend to Chom Chom on a Sunday night and surprisingly it was still pretty busy! Since there were only the 2 of us we ordered 3 small dishes to share (salt & pepper squid, bbq pork ribs, pho roll) and two mains (shaking beef and cha ca hanoi). My favourites were definitely the pho roll, bbq ribs and shaking beef! They don't serve pho there but the pho roll is worth coming for. I also heard about their signature Vietnamese fried chicken wings and that's on my to-eat list. They also have some cool cocktails, I had the Pho-jito which has a Vietnamese twist to Mojito and is very refreshing! This is the sort of place you would come with your friends to have some food and drinks before heading out. Highly recommend this cute Vietnamese bar & kitchen.
