Chong Kai Allied War Cemetery

This is a beautiful war cemetery, one of the many in this neighborhood of Kanchanaburi. There are gravestones from people from all over the world, and it definitely makes you think about all the history that happened here actually not very long ago. Recommended for a visit!

Military cemetery just outside the city centre, just across the river. Very beautiful maintained. It has many graves of Dutch soldiers as well.

After World War II the remains of 1400 British and 300 Dutch were exhumed from alongside the Thai-Burma railway line and placed at this cemetery. This cemetery is cared for by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, and is one of two war graves located in Kanchanaburi. This site is well maintained and is a place of peaceful reflection. There is minimal shade here and no bathrooms.

Peaceful and a well kept cemetry. A remote corner of the world for those that lost their lives during WW2. May their spirits shine with the stars for eternity.

It is beautifully maintained. And very overwhelming to walk through. Makes you question life and death. Some of the trees around are old and stand tall.

A very difficult review as I just feel so sad when I visit here, and I've been here a bunch of times. At a distance, it looks so nice, but then walking around and seeing the gravestones, and seeing how young they were, and the words of their family, I find it to be overwhelming. It has to be seen though.
