I chose this bakery because it came recommended by family. When you walk into the shop, you can't tell that it's a bakery. Nonetheless, I gave him a picture of the cake and paid in full. Since it came recommended, I thought my pickup would be seamless. I arrived the day before my event, and the place was closed during regular hours. I called the owner, and he had no notes for the pickup time we agreed on for my cake. He claimed he was out of town and had to deliver the following day. On the day of delivery, he sent me to voicemail and arrived 30 minutes after the promised time. He never apologized for the inconvenience, and to add insult to injury, the cake was not good! The design was mediocre; they needed more ink for the character cutouts. The buttercream had a foamy texture and had no taste. Finally, the cake was dry! I have had better cakes and customer service from a grocery store. I do not appreciate the "I'm doing you a favor" attitude and not apologizing; it is unprofessional. Complimentary delivery does not suffice because it was his error! Thank goodness I did not need the cake the day of pickup. I could have spent my money with a company that values its customers. Every venue I used for my event contacted me for confirmation except this bakery. I try to support black-owned businesses, but they do not give you the care that you deserve. My advice is to not treat your business like people need you; it's the other way around! There are dozens of bakeries people can use, and just being kind can separate you from the rest! Needless to say, I will not be using this bakery again.
Update: The owner read this review and called to threaten me with lawyers, called me out my name, and threatened to let his “followers” handle me. Very unprofessional and immature.
