Chotto Motto - Japanese Bar & Restaurant

We hadn’t been here for a few years, and it was such a lovely experience coming back. The place is adorable, and the service was really good — we didn’t have to wait long at all. The portions are on the smaller side considering the price, so we ordered a couple of dishes to share. My favourite were definitely the agedashi tofu and scallops Everyone had a great time, and the yuzu margarita was absolutely delicious.

Chotto Motto is an absolutely magical place. It is filled to the gills with knick knacks, bric-a-brac, tchotchkes, trinkets galore of Japanese memorabilia from sofubi to gamblin arcade machines. If you want to feel like you've taking a small trip to Japan or maybe just returning even if your gaijin like myself. The food was elevated, authentic and still had a sense of ordering something from a Yatai (屋台). Come here if you wanna kick back at the bar for a crisp lager or some delicious cocktails whilst listening to a solid set of tunes. Come and experience the wonderful playful vibes this slice of Japan has to offer.

I’m Japanese, but this is a place I find myself craving from time to time. I love the Japanese retro vibe here. The food is delicious, and the staff work efficiently—their attentiveness is truly outstanding. The miso sticky pudding paired with warm green tea was absolutely perfect! And the teacups are so cute too😍

Very cute restaurant loved the decor. Corn and octopus were just okay. Would come back just for the gyoza because they were so good. Voiceover in the toilets was a fun little easter egg. Great experience overall.

We went for the Sunday yum cha and chose the feed me option. For $59, we received several dishes, and each was delicious. Charred cabbage? Perfection. Fried chicken? Delectable. Every single dish was wonderful, and I can’t wait to go back. Price to quality to portion — five stars each. This is a great value with fantastic service and a very cool vibe. Just go.

Spent my birthday here!! Amazing experience. I’m from overseas and visiting Melbourne for a few weeks and I wanted to spend my 30th birthday somewhere special and this is what my sister recommended! I love anything Japanese and anime and this place is so perfect! Reminds me of Dorohedoro ^_^

Vibrant Japanese bar/restaurant, decorations are amazing, bathrooms with the voiceovers are fun. Make sure you try the crispy pork gyoza, chicken karaage and then miso Mac and cheese!

Holy. Moly. This was the best dining experience EVER! The food was incredible, so many phenomenal vegan options, almost as many as non-vegan! The staff were friendly and attentive, the food came out SO fast, the restaurant itself is just captivating! They gave us little Japanese trading cards when we left, there’s a phone where you can talk to their dog, everywhere you look there is something rad! We will be back again! And again!
