Look at the love put into these coffees! They tasted as good as they looked. Every single item from here is mouthwatering and satisfying. Staff are lovely and patient waiting while you savour the eye-candy and decide what to choose. The plates even sparkle French 🇫🇷 as pretty patterns become visible with each bite gone. As I write this I remember the taste of vanillin sugar on the top of my pastry. Delicious…… go early as lots of of things sell fast.

Service was okay...food was amazing! Had ham & cheese croissants and the fruit tart bake with almonds (not sure of the exact name) but even my kids absolutely loved it. One of the best bakeries I've tasted in Brisbane and we'll be back

I come here every morning, the staff are lovely, coffee, quiche and almond croissants are my favourites. Fernando and Caroline especially , very on the ball, always so bright , efficient and friendly she makes my day.

Nice selection of pastries. The first cage we visited in Brisbane! I was served coffee though I ordered soy chai latte, they quickly rectified this. The cinnamon scroll was delightful, cinnamon was not overpowering. Pricing is pretty much the same as other cafes nearby. It also seems like all their pastries are made in the same location. Overall a good cafe.

Certainly, one of the best croissants I have tried in Brisbane. (Tried ham & cheese, plain and mushroom croissants. ) not to mention the fabulous bread/ baguettes on offer. scrumptious sweet & savoury options also. Excellent friendly customer service. Delicious coffee. Definitely will be back.

Exquisite pastries, enjoyable interactions with staff and a nice coffee to accompany it. Perfect Saturday morning.

Google
The chocolate hazelnut croissant was quite tasteless and not flaky. It wasn't soft on the inside nor crispy on the outside. The cinnamon roll didn't taste like cinnamon roll. The blueberry danish was good flavour but the pastry texture was just not flaky and light. The apple pie was ok. Overall disappointing experience since I had expectations that it would be good due to the 4.6star rating.

Got a a few things from here, really love the atmosphere of this place. Very much authentic French. The deco was great, the workers were amazing and greeted us, the pastries and bread was great too, well made and fresh, will definitely go back to try the rest of their menu.

Yelp
Chouquette is a buzzy little French patisserie in the backstreets of New Farm. They offer a variety of breads, cakes, and croissants, and pump out a mean coffee. Despite living so close, I very rarely frequent it as it's certainly on the pricier side, and also closes at midday, marking it regularly off limits for a late riser like myself. The breads are traditional and tasty, with the baguettes offering some good chewiness without being over he top, and they even have whole loaves of brioche bread. The croissants are probably some of the best around, and at almost $5 a pop, you'd hope they are too. They have Merlo coffee and the service is quick, making it a good place to stop in for takeaway, and they also have a good amount of seating, and you're likely to spot some fuzzy little pups hanging around on a weekend.

Yelp
This little French patisserie is worth a drive and visit. Tip is to go early as afternoon there is not a lot to choose from. The coffee is amazing, I had an iced coffee and it was what I refer to as a proper iced coffee, not sickly sweet but so you can taste the coffee but with the right balance and this was one of the best I have ever had. I had a danish as they had no almond croissants left as I heard they ate the best in Brisbane but darn it they were all sold but that will teach me for going in the afternoon an hour before closing. The only downside is parking as we had to park two streets away but it was so worth it. They do amazing baguette sandwiches too with real French flavours. The staff who are French are very friendly and it felt like I had walked into a patisserie in Paris. I'll be going back and this time I'm visiting on opening at 6.30am to get that almond croissant.

Yelp
I am absolutely in love with this place. It's very rare that a little French cafe gives me this much pause from start to finish. Right from the start, when you walk through the store there's always someone available to take your order. Without fail, I've never had to wait more than a couple minutes before someone says, "Bonjour, what would you like today?" From there, you're opened up to a smorgasbord of tasty, filling treats ranging from delicious croissants and pain au chocolat to savory ocean trout baguette. For sure the star of the show is the variety of freshly baked breads and pastries. Everything is made in house and it shows! Every bite is delicately balanced with the right amount of sweetness. There's definitely a reason there is always a line out the door on Saturday and Sunday mornings at Choquette. They've just got the great overall package expected of a quality French cafe.

Yelp
I was so excited to try out Chouquette due to the hype surrounding this French bakery, but they were closed during Ekka week, so I had to wait. When I finally had time to return to New Farm, I made sure I paid a visit to Chouquette. Needless to say, I had great expectations to what they had to offer! Their website had given me a taste of what was in store, and I was excited for the extensive variety of bread rolls, pastries, and cakes. When I approached Chouquette, I really had expected it to be much busier, with people sitting around and conversing with French coffees - but I found it rather empty. The glass cases had a few sandwiches, a few cakes and pastries, with a few bread rolls in the back shelf- not at all what I expected, actually. The place didn't seem particularly French (though I really couldn't say what is and isn't) - no warm ambience, cold chairs and decor inside and out, and their offerings were very meager, and mostly not particularly aesthetically pleasing compared to what they displayed online. It was a bit of a disappointment to find that I couldn't find the variety of items that I saw online, and everything was a bit pricy. I did have the orange chocolate cake, which looked the most appealing, and was actually really rich and delicious (good for sharing), but I was sorely disappointed with their bread roll, which was way too dry. I'm not sure if I should have tried anything in particular- and if I just missed out on some of the good stuff, but unfortunately, Chouquette didn't leave me daydreaming about France.

Yelp
Dear Chouquette, I love you. You know that as well as I do. But you are going to make me extremely fat. When I'm away from you I worry about this, but when we are united I simply cannot resist your strawberry tarts or the almond croissants that fill my dreams. Perhaps separating from you would be easier if your coffee wasn't also so good? I know we have shared many a Sunday morning together, but I'm afraid I need to limit our visits to only once or twice a month because I find myself relying on your sweetness too much. I also don't like the fact that you are also seeing my friends. As soon as I told them about you, you seem to be sharing yourself with them a lot. I want you all to myself! Love Siobhan PS- See you on the weekend.

Roxanne S.

Yelp
Love the environment! Food is great and staff are super nice. I'd definitely come back to try more. Lemon tart, madeleines, cinnamon roll and TWG French Earl Grey are yum!

G T.

Yelp
This used to be my local spot on the way to work. And having just past by to check it out after years of not coming, it is, still as great as before! And those almond croissant are still my favourite. Prices are a little higher than its competitors. Still highly recommended this place.

Lydia K.

Yelp
The most delicious croissants and French bakery items! Hard to find parking and limited seating, but the food is worth the effort!! So many scrumptious items as seen on The Great British Baking Show

Yelp
I was lucky enough to live in Paris for a year, and since then I don't usually buy pastries in Australia as they are a huge disappointment and a total waste of calories. Unless they're from Chouquette of course... This place always has a huge line out the door, and for very good reason. The business is owned and operated by French nationals, which means the baguettes are chewy yet light and the patissiere section is a taste sensation. Major recommendations have to go to the chaussons aux pommes and the tarte aux fraise, however it is all outstanding. One word of warning, in true Parisian style their coffee is piss. Try get a take away elsewhere if you want the ultimate decadent breakfast. edit: it seems their coffee has improved somewhat, but it's still not as good as it could be. Also, Chouqette is so bloody French they close for most of January and for a week over Ekka. Damn your work / life balance I NEED PASTRY!

Yelp
When I first moved back to Brisbane, a food-loving friend told me tales of Brisbane's best chocolate croissant. Soon, our Saturday morning walks to catch up included a detour to this place, Chouquette, to buy a chocolate croissant before we continued down Brunswick Street. She wasn't wrong and there's a reason this place is buzzing on a weekend with a line out the door. It's authentic pastries, cakes, and breads have given them a troupe of loyal followers. I'm confident, they could move from the current location and the troops would still follow. My favourites are the almond croissants (buy the minis to save pennies and calories), and fresh loaves of bread. Always a winner. Sure, you pay a little more but the quality is never compromised.

Yelp
As soon I stepped in this little bakery, I began imagining this song "I want a feast/ I want a bean feast/ Cream buns and doughnuts/ And fruitcake with no nuts/ So good you could go nuts" Danishes, croissants, baguettes, quiches, tarts and GLUTEN, oh my! Baked to a glistening golden brown, the almond croissant "croissant aux amandes" called out to me (I was cheating on the pain au chocolat), which I happily nibbled on while chatting with a fellow Yelper. Flakey, light, and sweet on the palate as a proper croissant should be. I also enjoyed a cappuccino and a iced cafe au lait (next time I will ask for extra shots as I like my coffee strong and less milky). I have found my happy bakery in Brisbane. Thank goodness it takes a City Cat ride and a 1.5km walk for me to reach it. I say "More walking, the more I can eat!"

Yelp
Chouquette has become my local haunt for fancy bread and pastries. There is usually a line, but rather than being a painful experience, I think it gives you plenty of time to peruse the tempting treats and make up your mind before that delightful greeting of 'bonjour' becomes the signal to end deliberations. A walk to Chouquette has become a bit of a weekend ritual, so you could say I've sampled pretty extensively from the selection. The olive fougasse, the croissants and the chouquettes are probably the three things I most commonly get to takeaway, but really you can't go wrong with any of the breads and pastries. As for the coffee, it's adequate if you're in need of a fix. Staff are warm and friendly. Atmosphere is busy, but casual and the crowd is pretty diverse.

Yelp
I was in France in 2011 and fell in love with French bread. So I was keen to find something similar in Brisbane. And I have. Chouquette really does produce breads in the French tradition. They're beautiful. I have only ever purchased bread (and pastries) and have not dined/eaten there so I can't comment on that side of the business. But it is always busy when I go there so it must be good. Au revoir.

Amelia F.

Yelp
This is the best place in Brisbane for French breads and pastries. They have it all - pains au chocolat, almond croissants, pain raisins, croissants, baguettes, pains, eclairs, religeuse, millefeuille, petit fours. Its a little pricey but boy is it worth it. Coffee is good too and the service aint bad considering how busy it is. Most of the staff are French and you'l always get a 'bonjour' and a 'merci'. I cant recommend this place enough!

Christina M.

Yelp
Authentic French patisserie in Brisbane. Houses a beautiful selection of freshly baked pastries and treats. Definitely worth a visit!

Suzannah B.

Yelp
As you step into Chouquette you'll be greeted sincerely by the french staff with a cheerful chorus of bonjours and smiles. You won't be able to tear your eyes away from the long glass cabinet full of pastries and tarts almost too pretty to eat. Chouquette has an excellent variety of french delights, but if you want to be able to take advantage of this then be sure to arrive earlier rather than later because they sell out fast. There are benches to sit at on the footpath, and a few little tables inside as well. You might have to wait a few minutes for a seat, but by the time you've ogled the cabinet for a few minutes, someone will have finished their croissant and you can nab their table. The staff at Chouquette are happy to answer any questions you might have about the various treats the have on offer, and once you decide what you want they will bring it to your table for you or package it up for you to takeaway. My personal favourites are the tarte aux pommes, gateau fraisier, and chaussons aux pommes, but everything is amazing and no matter what you select you won't be disappointed. Be sure to try some of the Chouquettes - little air-filled puffs of pastry encrusted with sugar beads - that are Chouquette's namesake!

Phil B.

Yelp
Baguettes almost as good as Paris! Coffee is quite acceptable. Pastries are exquisite. Almond croissant is exceptional. Best French cafe in Brisbane!

Paul K.

Yelp
My wife and I tripped over this place while chasing a Sunday breakfast in Brissie. Man I wish they'd move to Sydney, but shall have to console ourselves that they're there when we visit my sis. Frankly, best in OZ, and you'd have to go to Lyon for better, (it's up there with some of the latter sampled in September while there). I made a point of asking for the proprietor/pâtissier, and thanking him. What a lovely guy; I think he appreciated it, too. Looks like I'll be keeping an eye on those cheapie flights to Bris. now. Hoo well...

Kim A.

Yelp
I was introduced to Chouquette recently. The breads, the coffee, the pastries...can't be beaten in Brisbane. Great friendly staff, some of whom would not be out of place in Paris. Can't recommend Chouquette enough!

Meegan W.

Yelp
There's not a lot to say about Chouquette without spoiling the moment for you. If you have a sweet tooth, GO THERE. If you are partial to the odd macaroon, GO THERE. If a French accent floats your boat, GO THERE. Just go there, ok?

Rachael C.

Yelp
I love the atmosphere of Chouquette. It is one of the few places in Brisbane where you are greeted in French. I almost feel like I'm living overseas! The staff are very friendly and the pastries, delicious. I just wish I lived a bit closer but when around the New Farm or Valley area, please make sure you pop by. Just check the opening hours first because they are popular and not open 7 days a week.

Sandrine G.

Yelp
J'adore! I've been a regular since I've moved to New Farm. Ambiance: "la petite boulangerie, patisserie de quartier" ou l'on peut paisiblement prendre son petit dejeuner Service: Agreable, friendly and even though you may not speak French, throw out some simple French greetings here and there "Bonjour", "Merci" etc... Parking: Street parking avail. Food: The most authentic French viennoiseries you can find in town, heaps of sinful sweets and savory pastries. Their pistachio/raspberry financier and almond croissants are to die for. Let their Chaussons aux pommes and Palmiers take you back to childhood .. my two weaknesses

Thomas H.

Yelp
Hands down the best croissant and pain au chocolat in Brisbane. Sourced Grocer in Teneriffe usually stock these as well Wed-Sun. The closest to a proper French viennoiserie you'll find in Brisbane.

Louise D.

Yelp
We are lucky to have a little piece of Paris in New Farm. Great coffee and french pastries made with love. I am always impressed and can't recommend it enough!

Siobhan R.

Yelp
I like the food at chouquette a lot. The croissants are perfect and all their other little cakes are quite tasty. I feel like the price is fair for the quality of the food too. It's a shame that the restaurant is so small, making it very unlikely that you'll get a seat, and the service is slow - I once waited 20 minutes for 2 takeaway coffees.

Marianna S.

Yelp
Every time I visit this patisserie on a Sunday morning, I start on the 'We should move to New Farm!' whine at my husband. I would throw away twenty years of south side suburbia happiness to be walking distance from this one French bakery. Their cakes look and taste amazing. Normally I would just go for the lemon meringue tart but because it's such a drive to get here, it would be nonsensical for me to not sample at least a couple of options, usually a Tarte aux fraises or amandine poire. One of my funniest memories happened at Chouquette. Having never studied French, I ordered the 'petit four' thinking that I would receive four pieces of little pastries. I was bitterly disappointed when an individual tiny chocolate tart arrived. I ranted at my husband who encouraged me to complain to the staff. It turned out he just wanted to laugh at me and that he knew all along that 'petit four' was just one little pastry tart, not four petite tarts. Anyway, this incident aside, Chouquette is the place to go for the best French pastries in town. Get there early as they will run out of food around midday.

Yelp
i don't come here often to sit down. but getting here on a week day can be really pleasant when it's not busy. sitting out the front with a giant mug of coffee, some ridiculous pastry and looking down annie st and up the hill to the greek orthodox on a hazy morning can be incredibly pleasant. however that gives the place further to fall i feel and have had some bad service. i'll buy your over priced quiche but... i have nothing to say after this, i always go back...
