"Chowpaty, Nairobi’s best vegetarian restaurant, serves outrageously tasty dishes from across the Indian subcontinent. On arrival, customers are presented first with a small bowl of warm water to wash their hands in and then withthe epic menu. The best item on the menu isthe dahi puri:Crispy puffed puri shellsare filled with Bombay mix (a crunchy snack mix) and then drizzledwith a sweet and sour sauce. Many items on the menu can also be made vegan—just ask.Chowpaty has severallocations around town, but the most popular sitsin the courtyard at Diamond Plaza, a bustling shopping mall wherethe Indian community comes forfabrics, clothing, electrical goods, and supermarkets."

During our trip to Kenya, one of our fellow travelers suggested we should not miss Chowpatty, and I’m so glad we went. After a day of shopping, we stopped by and tried their unique 3-combo puri platter — 2 pani puri, 2 dahi puri, and 2 sev puri. What a brilliant concept, and honestly, the taste beats all! We also ordered chilli paneer, and the portion was so generous that it could easily be shared. For mains, we went with saag paneer and lacha paratha. The paratha was just okay and can be skipped, but the saag paneer really stood out — it tasted like authentic saag, not the usual spinach version we often get in the US. That was a pleasant surprise. The food was so good that after our first visit, we decided to come back again just to try more varieties — and once again, everything we ordered turned out tasty. Chowpatty is definitely a place I’d recommend to anyone traveling through Kenya who’s craving flavorful Indian food.

The food is good but I didn’t like that they charge so much to get for example a little extra sambhar. The food arrived on time. It’s better to eat there in person than to order. They compromise on the quality and quantity when you order the food. E.g. the dhosa is like 1/2 the size when ordering than eating in the restaurant. Eating in the restaurant is a completely different story. The food is more fresh. It’s more tasty the quantity is more.

The Indian staff was so rude and we received food that we didn't even order and he is emphasizing we ordered that food. I would tell kindly do not go eat at chowpaty instead try other Indian restaurant who give service and not con people

Chowpaty is the kind of vegetarian restaurant which attracts admires in Nairobi. Full varieties of meals as vegetarian, mainly Southern Indian meals as much as they can, which is amazing and never seen to this degree so far. I miss restaurants like Chowpaty being creative and hands-on. The team members are also real go-getters, who are slaving away down there.

The place is in the old Diamond plaza building. We were a group of eight people and we had a very hard time trying to finish all the food. The portions were very generous. The service was pretty good. It took a bit of time to catch their attention. Still I recommend them.

Poor service and food quality. Apart from the manager who was helpful. The waiter puts the food away from you, not even asking where should i place it and then expects a tip at the end. Poor taste in masala chips and mysoor dosa. Do not make a misatake at chowpaty diamond plaza, westlands chowpaty is far much better.

Enjoyed a delicious meal with family and friends. The quality has maintained its excellence since the last time I ate at Chowpaty 10 years ago!
