Chris Jerk

This place has been my number one craving for the past couple months. I've had various jerk chicken places, both places I've tried on my own due to reviews, as well as recommendations from Jamaican and Carribean acquaintances. Overall, despite them telling me this place is not the most authentic, this place serves my most favourite jerk chicken meal by far, and I find myself coming here as often as I can. Their fried plantains on the side are so tasty, and the jerk gravy is absolutely delicious! I almost always pay the 50 cents extra for more sauce (it's not an option on the menu, you have to ask them for it). They already put a decent amount without it, it's just a personal preference of mine. The inside of the restaurant smells absolutely mouth watering, and they have a loyalty program now to save up points for a free jerk chicken leg meal every time you eat there now and other things! I love how they give you such a big portion, as well as including vegetables and plantains on the side, it's really nice especially for someone like me who cares a bit about the overall balance of nutrients of the things I eat. As for the jerk chicken, I'm not sure about places that said it was bland or flavourless, because for me, it was very juicy and flavourful even on the parts that wasn't covered by the jerk gravy, which can't be said for some other places I won't name where the jerk chicken was actually kind of bland and dry. The jerk chicken also has a decent amount of spice to it, more so than most other places I've had where its barely spicy, and the rice is so good! Definitely the best rice I've had from any jerk chicken restaurant. The staff in there are always extremely friendly and polite! You can tell they definitely enjoy what they do, and it shows in the very reasonable portion size to price ratio. This may not be everyone's favourite jerk chicken place, but it is definitely mine.

After hearing about this place from Scarborough Spots staff picks, we went to Chris Jerk to try the legendary jerk chicken poutine smothered in rich gravy and cheese. Everybody there was super friendly and smiling away. I love when people love their work (or is it even work at that point?). Food was fantastic. Will be back. 💚

I love the atmosphere in this place, have been going for years and the employees are phenomenal. Its a small tight place, but the smell, the sense of community and warmth this place brings is 10/10. The food is great, I usually like getting the jerk chicken leg poutine. I haven't been here for a while and went to get a side quarter leg, the price went up quite a bit, after tax it was $7.63 or so. It tasted good, but the price was a bit much in my opinion, and was a lot of bone, my local joint sells it for $5 plus tax and most quarter legs tandoori, jerk, fried are in the $5-$6 range. I get costs of operating have gone up, but for me its a pass from now on. Might hop in to still get the jerk chicken poutine, but no more side legs.

This place gives you very large portions of food and you can tell they take pride in what they do. Unfortunately, the food I got (the jerk chicken) was very plain. It didn't have much flavor but the vegetables were good and so was the plantain. Overall, I wasn't very happy since this place was highly recommend.

Wanted to try this spot out with my mom, we went with the snapper daily special and stew beef daily special, and man oh man. The beef was tender and juicy, it's sauce was a good balance of sweet and savory. The snapper was fried perfectly, crispy on the outside and tender within. Portion size is also a big win. Both come with plantain, and coleslaw, snapper has mixed veggies.

This spot is in a little plaza with a wide variety of food options. My friend suggested I give their jerk Shawarma a try , as it's a unique meat . I was already pretty full from a luncheon but I had some meat and my gosh was it not only tender, but seasoned extremely well. It's not your traditional flavors but it's really good! . This spot is busy and I can see why. I'd definitely try some of their other dishes

This is the baddddddest poutine on the block honestly. Got the jerk chicken poutine with a side of plantain and I couldn’t believe how good it was. I tried this place because of a tiktok I seen and it did NOT disappoint. Honestly the service wasn’t the best but it was quick and efficient. Safe to say I WILL be back. Nuff time I would fill up my belly and leave. Their oxtail was also good

Great customer service and very helpful throughout the ordering process. Chris Jerk helped us arrange 25 lunches for students from the TDSB Centre of Excellence for Black Student Achievement, and the whole experience was smooth and much appreciated. The students said the jerk chicken was great, and the veggie meal was also very good. Thank you for your support.

My Aunt lives on Pharmacy and Finch and highly recommended that we visit. It definitely did not disappoint. This place is exclusively take-out. The impressive variety of easy-to-navigate Menu items, fiery, smoky vibrant spices, and depth of flavor is already making me look forward to returning the next time I am in town from the US. We ordered jerk chicken wings, jerk chicken legs, and jerk chicken breast for a total of five people. It was perfect.

8.5/10 - Delicious, authentic Scarborough jerk restaurant! I was looking forward to trying their jerk chicken after many recommendations from friends. I went around 6 PM on a weekday, and it was pretty busy, there were about five people ahead of me waiting for their orders. The service was great, and it was quick! I only waited about 5 to 10 minutes for my order. It's obvious once you're inside that it's a local favourite spot for the neighborhood. Food: delicious! Super hot and fresh! I ordered: Jerk chicken quarter leg entrée. Served with rice and peas, included in the entree is 3 pieces of plantain and vegetables. Added a side of curry chickpeas for $1.50. I also got a side of the jerk shrimp, just on its own. The serving of jerk chicken with rice, plantain, and vegetables, was super generous for around $16! A generous serving! It was flavorful and super hot and fresh. The spice was quite mild, I really enjoy spicy food, so I was hoping it would be a tad spicier... I did ask for a side of pepper sauce on the side, so that was helpful. It was perfect for a weekday or weekend meal for one or two (based on what I had) and I would definitely come back with family or friends to try the rest of their menu, or just for a quick weekday dinner like I did tonight!

I used to frequent this place all the time back when I worked in Scarbs and scrolling through my reviews, I can't believe I never wrote a review for this place back in the day! This place and P Jays (really nearby actually) have the best Jamaican food in Toronto imo. I came back recently to see if it's maintained it's legendary standards and quality and I was not disappointed at all. I arrived 40 min before closing time on a tuesday and ordered up the oxtail entree with a jerk leg on the side. One of my go-to orders (the other being the jerk shawarma poutine). The chefs hooked me up with the fattest portion of food and gave me extra gravy on my chicken. The oxtail is great (though it doesn't beat P Jay's oxtail) but the rice and jerk chicken are definitely better here than at P Jays. I'm also not a fan of steamed veggies in general but these were ok. I'd much prefer coleslaw and apparently I'm reading from some of these other reviews that you can ask for slaw instead of the steamed veggies which is awesome. This resto is iconic and every bit deserving of its high rating. YAHHHH MONN!

This has been more than the third time that I have tried this place. I must say their food does not disappoint, and I have tried two different dishes. The first was the jerk chicken poutine and the second was their mac n' cheese (jerk chicken with mac) that comes with a side of coleslaw. The service is fast, but because they are always so busy, there is a bit of a wait time for the food to be ready. The location I go to is small, so you cannot dine in. However, they did open up another location in Markham. I don't know how big or small that location is, but I am excited that there's another one open.

I finally was in the East end and got to try Chris jerk yay! It's been in my bookmarks for a couple of years now. I visited on a Friday night it was around 7:00 p.m. and of course they were sold out of their famous jerk chicken poutine so I did not get to try it I ended up going with a fried chicken meal and then a side of a jerk chicken on the side I think the price was fair compared to other Caribbean restaurants that I have been to the meal is only one size which is a large container they don't have any other size. Even though they were busy the cashier was kind and patient explaining the menu and the box sizes for me overall I had in a nice experience with the staff they seemed happy and in return provided pleasant service Fried chicken 10 out of 10 It was freshly made the temperature was hot the skin was lightly fried not too thick but crispy the meat was tender and juicy but most importantly flavorful! Would buy again The jerk chicken I would give a solid 8 out of 10 The chicken was slightly less hot than the fried chicken, but it was just as tender just as juicy their homemade jerk sauce is quite delightful it paired well with the fried chicken. I think that the spices used to marinate the chicken they could use more the flavor was great but it wasn't as intense and bold as I think it could have been. I do not like the rights I would give it a 5 out of 10 The rice was cooked well however the rice and peas is made with basmati rice and I don't think it pairs well together the rice does not absorb the flavors of the kidney beans so it kind of just tastes like plain rice which I'm not that big of a fan of. The meal also came with some plantain which was delicious and sweet and then you get your choice of veggies or coleslaw I took the coleslaw the closer is pretty light it's a vinaigrette versus a creamy type If I was in the area again I definitely would go back and hopefully get a chance to try the jerk chicken poutine

Pre-Covid I remember there being some seating, but now it's only a takeout spot. It was really busy when I went on the weekend. The line of those who've already ordered and paid and those waiting to order may seem like one big line. Usually, those who have already ordered will point that out to those wanting to order. They must've just run out of jerk chicken because my wait took a little longer, but that's okay because my meal was steaming hot when I got it. It was a large portion that I definitely did not finish in one sitting for a reasonable price.

I am feeling under the weather, and my partner brought back some tasty takeout from here. It was my first time trying this spot so I'm not sure of the vibe but my partner said it's takeout only joint. Those huge portions kept us fed twice, especially with the side of congee I prepared on the side. What makes a takeout spot great for me is having a good amount of veggies to balance things out, and this place totally nailed it. I gotta say, those fried plantains on top were a hit. So, if you're looking for a hearty meal to enjoy at home, I'd definitely recommend this place.

Super yummy jerk chicken poutine! Crispy fries and chicken drenched in jerk sauce with cheese is perfection

There seems to be several Caribbean restaurants in Toronto. My wife found Chris Jerk on social media, so we went to check it out. We placed our order and was told it would be a 20-25 min wait and they would phone me when the food is ready. The food was actually ready in 10 min. There is no seating area inside the restaurant, so we walked over to Tim Hortons to eat our food. I had a tough time selecting an entree. I went with the poutine because I had never had poutine and it was different. The serving size was large and I was definitely full after eating. Unfortunately, that sweet spicy Caribbean jerk flavor of clove, allspice, etc.... was missing. I would have loved to have had that seasoning present with the poutine as it was somewhat salty. I tried the calaloo and it was also good, but I am still not sure about Chris Jerk as a Caribbean restaurant due to the lack of Caribbean flare in the entrees I experienced.

Heard good things about this spot and had to come in to try their shawarma poutine. Went in and grabbed the jerk chicken shawarma poutine ($12) and it was probably the best shawarma poutine I've ever had. The fries were fresh and the cheese melted well. The chicken was hot and fresh and the jerk flavor perfectly complimented everything else that was going on with the standard poutine flavors. The wait wasn't too long either. Only thing is be aware they're a take out only so there is no seating inside. Overall though. the meal was delicious and I definitely will come back

Located in a small plaza on birchmount and huntingwood, this restaurant seems to always have long lines of customers and rightfully so. It does get busy so parking can be a little hectic. Jerk chicken - great flavor and great texture. Sits on a bed of rice and beans with cooked veges and fried plantains. The plantains have a nice light sweetness and the veges are cooked well. Macpie- their macaroni and cheese in pie form is always a great comfort food. There's some jerk sauce in the macaroni pie as well though not a lot of meat. Plantains are great and the coleslaw has a nice crunch to it. Price: The price is pretty reasonable for what you get. Definitely recommend it!

Chris Jerk is a staple in the plaza located at the corner of Birchmount and Huntingwood. There is a reason why people are just fine with waiting for their food and not complaining while waiting in line. The answer is, Hot and fresh Soul Food! They pride themselves on hot and fresh food served from a hot table and their friendly, calm and discipline staff translates to consistent hot and fresh food every time. This time i had the curry chicken dinner and man o man was the chicken juicy and tender. Vegetables were stemmed just right and not too soft and the generous curry sauce over the rice was a perfect mixture where it was hard to resist not saving any of this serving for later. This is definitely my go-to place for Jamaican food in Scarborough.

Man.. I LOVE me some Chris Jerk! Whether it be their jerk chicken poutine, or their oxtail box you can never go wrong! During my preggo days, I begged my husband to take me to get us some Chris Jerk because "baby" wanted it..haha it was high key for me though..(no shame in admitting it here). They always seem to be busy every day of every hour and even when you try to call and order for pick up, the phone line is always busy it never goes through! Anyway, not surprised because their food is really good, so of course we would drive there, and mr.Tran would go and order for us and We would always get their ox tail box and jerk chicken poutine. Now the jerk chicken poutine is not too spicy, but it has a bit of a kick and the jerk seasoning is so good with stretchy cheese and fresh crispy fries together.. match made in Jamaican heaven. The oxtail though... fall off the bone! The meat is so tender it seems like they have been cooking it for hoursss! The oxtail box comes with rice and peas, coleslaw or steamed veggies, and fried plantains. It's such a hearty meal, you can tell a lot of time and love has been put into this dish. P.S they have house made hot sauce, but you need to ask the cashier for it when they give you your food. Note: Line ups and waiting for food can take up to 20 minutes or more, but food so good, can't deduct any points there.

This is my all time favourite jerk spot!! I have not found a better spot in the GTA/toronto. The food is pretty incredible, from the delicious flavors, to the tenderness of the chicken. The chicken literally falls off the bone, and is always served piping hot with their delicious gravy. The jerk shawarma poutine is amazing as well, so saucy and cheesy. The sides are very good too, the vegetables and rice are always cooked perfectly. Also be sure to get their hot sauce with your meal as well, it isn't super spicy, but adds a wonderful flavour to everything. I enjoy this place so much that my fiancé and I decided to get it catered for our engagement party! Everyone including us loved it, and we were getting compliments on the food the whole night! Also the portions were incredibly generous and we had leftovers for days. I definitely recommend, 10/10!!

The jerk chicken is milder than what I'm used to and drier than I like. Good for the casuals new to Jamaican flavors. The fries taste fresh cut, at least.

Best place to get Caribbean food. Dispite the long lineup of customers waiting for their food, the food came out relatively quick. Food tasted good and the sauce was very delicious. Portions size was also reasonable. Service was okay and they only do takeout.

I was told this place was good. I was disappointed. Apart from the 20 minute wait time, the chicken had very little resemblance to the jerk taste I was familiar with from places like Island Flava, Nicey's eatery, or Rap's.. The price on their website is also outdated. At least the food was fresh and not dry.. I would definitely try the above 3 places I mentioned before chosing Chris Jerk.

I got jerk chicken shawarma poutine and a side of oxtail. The oxtail is too sweet, so I couldn't finish it and probably will not order again. The poutine is awesome and brought this mediocre Canadian dish to a next level. A lot of poutines were made by throwing in large chunks of cheese curd into fries and gravies. The cheese doesn't combine well with the fries and gravies. And a lot of times the cheese curds are chewy. However, this poutine comes with completely melted cheese. The cheese blends in well with the gravy and can actually stick on the fries. Also the sweet potato fries are very crispy despite laying under moisture from gravy and cheese. If I had any complaints, the restaurant could have a more exhaustive and informative menu. It's not obvious to see what the daily special is and it's price. Also the entrées actually come with rice and veggies, so they are really meals or combos.

The food was truly amazing, it's definitely worth every penny spent, what I will say is make sure you call ahead because of the fact that it's really busy. Overall I truly appreciate the experience would say that my personal favourite was the jerk chicken poutine!!

This was my second time here and we got the jerk chicken quarter leg meals. The chicken was very good and flavourful and had a nice kick to it. The portion size was also really good for the price. Staff were very friendly and efficient in taking orders. Make sure to get there early on Saturday's for lunch as there's always a line before they open!

The jerk chicken shawarma poutine here is a MUST TRY! Soo cheesy and saucey and packed with flavours. We also tried the oxtail dinner which comes with rice, veggies/coleslaw, and plantain. You can also add a side of jerk chicken for $3, which is a great deal!! The jerk chicken has less heat than I expected but the spice level was perfect for me. Generous portion size at a reasonable price, and everything tasted great! This is a really popular take out joint so do expect a wait during lunch/dinner times. They sometimes run out of the poutine later in the day so don't go too late! I highly recommend you give this place a try as it is my fav Caribbean food joint!

Call ahead to avoid wait. I don't often give in 5 stars but Chris Jerk deserve it! Where do I begin? Their coconut rice just everything! The oxtail stew with fried chicken on the side is a must. I don't eat veggie but I don't mind theirs All and all worth the visit for those who don't live in the area.

Unlike most places, the containers aren't merely filled with rice, peas, a protein, and perhaps a tong of coleslaw. At Chris Jerk, each meal also arrives with vibrant buttery stir-fried vegetables and sweet soft fried plantains. It's a full-sized affair where you're bound to have leftovers. As soon as I saw the large pieces of oxtail ($16.95) I was ready to dig in - you're lucky there's any pictures that's part of this post. Boy was it tasty: thick and meaty with more than enough of the lovely gravy to mix into the rice and peas. While it was tender, it wasn't braised so long that it fell off the bone. You could still pick up each piece and get a bite of meat and jellied cartilage all together. I wasn't quite sure how I felt about all the chickpeas accompanying the curry chicken ($12.45) but, in retrospect, the crumbly legumes with the juicy chicken were a nice combination. Despite the vibrant yellow hue of the sauce, the spices weren't too powerful. Everyone seemed to ask for hot sauce on the side, something I'll pick up next time to add a bit more heat to the dish. In fact, nothing is overly spicy. Even the jerk chicken leg ($3) was rather tame tasting like barbeque chicken with a jerk element, equally sweet to spicy. I'm glad we only purchased a side order as it would have been a disappointment - when one orders jerk chicken you want that hit of flavours, this was not it.

I'm from downtown and I would go to scabrorough to grab some delicious jerk chicken. I love their rice and beans the best part it comes with plantains. This is a new thing , but they do charge $1 to get oxtail gravey, I still think it's worth it but I don't know any other places that make that charge.

My go to spot for Jerk Chicken. Their stew Oxtail, Curry Goat is also really good. Good tasting food, fair pricing and portion sizes and friendly staff. I would recommend Chris Jerk to anyone.

Amazing, so good that I recently just found out about this place that I've been coming back each week! I love the Jerk Chicken Shawarma Poutine pictured here. This take out location is quite busy; but they take your order, get your phone number and call you when it's ready!

My all time favorite and go to place for shawarma! Their fusion of middle eastern shawarma with the Caribbean flair just can't be beat! They're always super busy, weekdays and weekends, it's best to call ahead and pick up your food after. At busy times, it's also can take multiple tries to get ahold of the restaurant through the phone to put in your order. It can be a hassle at times but the food is definitely worth it!

Despite these dire times. I'm grateful for the restaurant as well as the delivery driver. Much appreciated. Onto the food. The temperature of the food was still pretty warm when it arrived. So I un-boxed the goods and we got the fried chicken leg, jerk chicken breast and a jerk chicken shawarma meal. We started chowing down and I was amazed with the rich flavour from the jerk gravy. The chicken was so well made for all 3 dishes, the gravy complemented the chicken well. The chicken was so soft and the gravy mixed into the basmati rice was so yummy. I was quite mind blown and satisfied with my food.

Wonderful tasty Jamaican food with an updated flair. Best to order ahead as they may have lineups or run out of popular items at end of the day.

Since their arrival in the Scarborough food scene, Chris Jerk has showcased the beauty of Caribbean and Jamaican cuisine for the local crowd. The restaurant has been heavily recommended by fellow foodies and I finally decided to see what the hub bub was all about. Given my love for poutine, I decided to check out one of their trademark menu items: the Jerk Chicken Shawarma Poutine. I kid you not, it's one of the best comfort foods I have had in 2020. Their gravy is quite unique with a bit of sweeter tone to balance the aromatic Jerk seasoning from the chicken. The chicken is juicy and delectable and pairs nicely with the mozzarella cheese and fries. I wish I could have gone for seconds because it is that tasty with their take on a Canadian comfort food classic. Given the circumstances where we can't do dine in these days, Chris Jerk remains open for take out and delivery. Regardless of where you enjoy their food at, it's going to take you on a small Caribbean getaway with their authentic flavours! I cannot wait to try their legendary Chicken and Ox Tail from what I have been noticing fellow foodies have been raving about!

We were in the area looking for dinner and happened upon this spot on Birchmount. From start to finish, it was a great experience! We got there at the perfect time as there was no line up, and when we left there line up was way out the door. It is obvious that this is a go-to spot and after eating here, I see why! The person who was taking orders was so nice (!!!) and very helpful. The ordering process was easy and they called our phone number when the order was ready for pick up. The order took about 20 minutes. We ordered the jerk chicken with rice and veggies - absolutely delicious. The chicken is so tender and literally falls off the bone. Everything seasoned so perfectly. Also tried the jerk chicken poutine, also sooo good. The portions are huge and very filling. So happy we found this place and will definitely be coming back!

Dropped by to pick up lunch this week. Service was quick and efficient. A lot of customers coming and going. Ordered the jerk chicken shawarma poutine - typically the shawarma meat isn't available by dinner time but the poutine can still be ordered with regular jerk chicken that they chop up. the gravy has great flavour and spice. lots of chicken served. highly recommend Chris Jerk for Caribbean food in Scarborough

I had to visit Chris Jerk after seeing so many people on my Instagram feed posting pictures of their delicious jerk chicken. I went on a Friday evening and it was BUSY. Luckily, they call you when your orders ready so you don't have to stand there for 30-40 minutes waiting for your meal. I ordered the Jerk Chicken Breast Entree and Jerk Chicken Entree. The portions were very generous and I loved that the meal also came with a couple pieces of fried plantains and some steamed (or boiled?) vegetables. The chicken was so tender and had so much flavour. It was not too spicy for me and I am usually sensitive to spice! I would definitely revisit this place in the future, maybe during a time that's less busy :)

One of the best things about being Yelpers is that we are not just a community online - we are Friends. AND Friends don't let Friends dine alone! LOL! One of my Yelp buds never had Chris Jerk and wanted to go. He asks another friend to go with and then I hear about it and TADA! We all go! And that's how Yelp works! Three Yelpers on an adventure - Dumas could not has written the day better. I'm so happy to have tried Chris Jerk. The food is good and quite filling. As is my custom, the first meal needs to be my baseline meal - it's the science guy in me! I can't help it. The education system brainwashed me into being an analytical over achiever. :D Anyways, I always try the Jerk Chicken to compare it to other Caribbean places that I have been. It helps me set the bar on where this place ranks against other meals I have had. The jerk chicken comes with Rice and Peas (not to be confused with Peas and Rice - those in the know understands what this is all about), veggies and a couple fried plantain. Have to admit, I could have a plateful of the caramelized sweet goodness. The chicken was tender and really good. But is it the best? The spicy jerk left me wanting more heat and flavour. Not the scorch my mouth so that I can't feel my face spicy - like some places with suicide wings which tastes like it was marinaded in gasoline. Perhaps I should have asked for something to add to the enjoyment of their food. Perhaps there could have been and opportunity to know how we can customize it to our tastes. Perhaps someone could have said, "how spicy would you like it?" AND...that's where the single star is lost. My experience here only has issues with the lack of conversation with the staff. You are expected to know what you want when you get in the line up. No options are given. No advice is offered. No feel good moment was experienced. In fact, me asking about what comes with the meal seem to have irritated the cashier. I could swear she was looking into the back of her head as her eyes started to roll. Nonetheless, service aside, plan to get there early if you want a seat against the wall of this tiny restaurant. A handful of seats for two and one for four. Between the line up and the seated people, there is little other space. All in all, a great day was had by The Three Yelpsketeers! All for Food and Food for ALL! Cheers!!

It ain't pretty but it sure is delicious. The smile factor when having this was high. Best be enjoy slowing, like real slow. To sum the experience cue the music "It Was a Good Day - Ice Cube". The Jerk sauce and the crispy chicken was perfect. Fries were not too soggy and had the right amount of crisp to them. A must to have when you visit Chris jerk.

It's been a while since I've eaten here. Working downtown and living in Pickering, it's just not very convenient to get to, but this evening, a friend was visiting from Oklahoma and requested Jamaican food. Yes, opportunity was knocking! We got there just before 7:00pm and it was busy with their dinner crowd. There was a short wait in line to place our order and we were hoping a table would become vacant, soon. They have a lot more staff than I recall from my last visit and they were all busy, fulfilling customer orders. It actually didn't take long to get our order. My friend had the Curry Goat and I had the boneless Curry Chicken. Both were served with rice, steamed vegetables, and fried plantain. Mmm, it was as good as I remembered! And the servings were generous! I've never been disappointed with the food or service here!

I've been craving chris' jerk chicken poutine ever since I've been there years ago by my good friend who recommended to me. I remember the portion size being huge, would of paid extra for it too. I ordered 2 jerk chicken poutine and it tasted amazing, the fries were fried perfectly with a nice crisp texture with the inside still very fluffy. The jerk chicken was perfectly tender and MOIST, no pun intended. After all said and done the food went down so good with my 1L coconut water I consumed. The staffs there were full of life and Chris was working there doing his thing, great owner with a full staff during the rush hour. Definitely will try the other dish on the menu, the jerk chicken was so perfect I can have more for dinner. Definitely will be back when I am in the area.

Lived up to the hype. I was slow to jump on the Chris jerk train. Better late than never. Went on a Saturday night and unfortunately the wait time for pick up was long (45 mins). Ran out of jerk shawarma. Pivoted and went with items in the picture. Everything was excellent. Soon as you walk in you'll smell all the freshness and delicious flavours. Will return back to try other items. poutine, side jerk chicken, wings and goat curry in that order was my preference. I could see the poutine with jerk shawarma being the home run. Side note- portions are huge and prices shockingly low. Won't complain. That adds to how great this place is. I'm amazed they're maintaining quality and operating so effectively without hiking prices. Hope they come out of the pandemic on top. Let's continue to support!

I went yesterday and had the jerk chicken shawarma poutine, I heard it was a must try and I was craving poutine for a long time... so I decided to make the trip. The dish tasted very good, it's one of the best poutines I had but when you get half way into the dish, it starts to taste very salty and it gets worst as you keep eating it, also after finishing it you will have to rest for a long time, it drains all your energy haha I think it's a good dish for sharing, taste great and fills you up a loooot !

Our go to spot before the pandemic and we loved this place for the consistency in great food and service. We haven't been back since because every time we drive by there is a massive line up of customers waiting outside and we didn't want to wait with the kiddos in the car. Yesterday there was no line up so we went in and order. The lady asked for our phone number and she will give us a call when our order is ready for pick up. We ordered a curry goat dinner and an oxtail dinner. Both came with steamed veggies, plantains and rice. I don't know if they had a one off day but the quality of the food wasn't what we remembered at all. The steamed broccolis was extra salty, the curry goat meat was really dry that it wasn't enjoyable anymore. And there were random salty spots in the rice. The plantain pieces were cut smaller too. At least the oxtail was still moist and the flavour of the rice was nice. The steamed carrots and cabbage was okay. It turned us off from ordering here again from the great multiple experiences we have had in the past. However we will give it another try one more time just in case yesterday was an off day.

Absolutely delicious jerk chicken! It's a large portion so be prepared to either eat it while superrr hungry or split it into two meals. We went during the weekday lunch rush but the line moved fairly quickly. You know it's good when there's a line out the door!

I've heard many great things about this Jamaican spot in Scarbs and was really looking forward to trying it for myself. And judging by the volume of people there during lunch hour, you could tell its a local favorite. We tried a bit of everything: 1. Jerk Shawarma poutine: Even though I loved how it was topped generously with melted cheese and gravy. The flavors were pretty good, however the overall dish was on the salty side. 2. Oxtail: The sauce used to braise the meat was a bit on the sweet side but overall pretty good and flavorful. The rice had alot of flavor, but the veggies seemed to be just steamed without any salt or flavoring. 3. Jerk chicken leg: The chicken was really flavorful and juicy and definitely my favorite In my opinion the food was pretty good but not mind blowing . I would come back for the jerk chicken or oxtail if I was in the area and craving Jamaican

Hands down one of my favourite spots to eat at! We've eyed this spot for a couple of years before we moved into the area and now we probably come here every other week. The other weeks we just have cravings for it. They are closed on Sundays which is usually when we crave their food xD. They're jerk pork meals are what we always order. They pack it with so much meat! I don't usually like pork only because it's not my favourite but Chris jerk makes the jerk pork so good it's the only thing we get! Not dry and not too spicy either. We always get it with ox tail gravy [$1] and it's the best. They are always busy...for good reason! If you have been wanting to try this place, you better go! Or else we gonna eat all of the jerk pork and you won't get any haha. Please note take out only no seating inside.

TLDR: The most tender, juiciest jerk chicken I've ever had in Scarborough! 45 minute wait though, so prepare something to do. (ordered on a Saturday night, and it's COVID, so no big complain here). Worth the wait, will visit again. Price (3/5): For the amount of food I got, it was a fair price at around $14 for a festival and a jerk chicken special. Food (5/5): THIS is why people come here. I had to wait 45 minutes for my takeaway order, but it was WORTH. I saw that a chef was preparing some sort of long fried dough, so I inquired about it and the cashier lady told me it was called a Festival. It was a pogo-looking fried sweet dough that was so crispy on the outside, and sweet, doughy, and soft on the inside. I also ordered the jerk chicken special, and the chicken BLEW ME AWAY. Even compared to all the chicken I have eaten in the past be it steamed, stir fried, baked, or boiled, Chris' Jerk Chicken takes the crown. The jerk gravy itself was delectable, but it was really the texture of the chicken that got me. The chicken was so soft and juicy that it was almost creamy. Definitely recommend the jerk chicken. Would have given it a 5 stars if it was ever so slightly cheaper and faster. Still a place I will return to again for sure!!

The most authentic jerk chicken I've ever had. We arrived closed to closing time so they didn't have the shawarma meat anymore so we got the jerk chicken shawarma poutine with chicken legs instead. The meat fell off the bone and was seasoned and sauced to perfection. Probably the best jerk chicken I've ever had. I was glad I tried it with the chicken leg as the leg skin added so much flavour. The cheese flavour was a little over powering for the rest of the flavours. The gravy was super tasty and seasoned. Even the fries were seasoned. Overall, one of the most tasty poutines you'll ever try. Definitely recommend trying this place, I'm already looking forward to having this meal again.

Came here for a late lunch with a friend who recommended this spot. So good! It was quite busy when we went mid afternoon on a weekday. They asked for our number so that they could message us when the food was ready which was nice. Everyone was welcoming, friendly and helpful with the menu! I got the jerk chicken poutine - delicious and different! Definitely recommend. Will definitely go again next time I'm in the area!
