I was very disappointed with the $28 grilled chicken platter. The food itself was average at best, nothing memorable and certainly not worth the price. The hummus was watery and completely lacking in flavor. The Greek salad was the strongest side dish, but it was simply lettuce, a bit of cheese, and dressing, not exactly a culinary achievement, and again, not worth $28.
When I first approached the counter, I asked for a menu since it was my first time there. Instead of offering any guidance, the cashier asked for my name and immediately pressed me for an order. When I repeated that I needed a menu, he reluctantly handed one over but seemed irritated that I wasn't ready to order. I felt I was clear that I had never been there before, but that didn't seem to register with him.
The restaurant itself is a hole in the wall, which can often be charming when the food is exceptional. In this case, however, the quality didn't measure up, leaving the atmosphere feeling more like an unremarkable strip mall spot than a hidden gem.
I regret spending so much for so little. I've never been to Greece, but I have been to Istanbul, so I know what truly great grilled chicken and hummus should taste like, and this was nowhere near it. At best, this meal should have been $15. The prices here are outrageous for what they deliver.
