An excellent local restaurant, with tastes from authentic Cretan cuisine. The service was friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is lovely with nice music. As for the dishes, each one is unique with deep flavor, and prices are well worth it for the product that is offered. You absolutely should dine here once!

The service is gentle, welcoming and professional. The menu has a separate section for daily proposals. The place is cozy, quiet, and frequented by locals. The food is curated, big portions ready to be shared in the Greek manner. In the high season better reserve in advance

We had a fantastic dinner at the restaurant. Great food, super nice service. All the food we ordered was the top. The tzatziki fantastic creamy, garlicky, the Greek salad, perfect, fresh vegetables. The octopus and the lamb was excellent. We will definitely go back till we’re here and would recommend it for everyone who loves truly amazing Greek food.

Great local taverna offering traditional food. We ordered food we have never had before and we were not disappointed. Will definitely return to enjoy more wholesome food.

We popped in here for dinner after a long couple days of traveling to Crete. It was a great choice! The food was amazing, and the service was great. We started with the bread and tzatziki, and the cheese pie with honey. Both were really good. I got the lamb ofto, and my wife got the lamb chop. Both were cooked perfectly, the crispy bits on the ofto were particularly good. The dinner was reasonably priced, and capped off with the little mini donuts they brought with our bill. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Chania!

Came here due to the positive reviews. Biggest take away is DO NOT ORDER THE OFTO LAMB. Literally served bones. See the picture. It came with four slivers of potato. I wish I read the other reviews about the lamb before I ordered it. You would be lucky to get about 50 grams of meat on the bones. The waiter didn't even ask if everything was okay because they knew when they served the dish that it was embarrassing. It should have gone straight back to the kitchen but they ignored it. First time in a restaurant in Chania where I actually ate all the table bread because of how small the dish was. Of what there was of the lamb, it was dry and over salted. They charge €1.50 euros per person for bread and €1.50 for a bottle of water which is about average. Otherwise, sardines are nice. Dakos Salad is €7 euros and you only get one piece although it is a large piece. The provided loukoumades "complimentary" dessert were inedible as they were too sweet and had a nasty oily aftertaste. Unlikely to return.

Not our favourite restaurant but the atmosphere and service was great - a very authentic rustic local Cretan tavern and it was very busy and full of life but our dishes weren’t great - rabbit was very dry. Octopus was too heavily flavoured for me. Though the home made past was good and dolmades excellent.

I can't recommend Chrysostomus enough! From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and fast. The menu offers a great variety, and every dish we tried was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. The highlight was the surprise complimentary dessert gifted by the house, a sweet touch that really made our dining experience feel special. Raki was free as well! Chrysostomus is definitely a must-visit spot for anyone looking for top-quality food and service. We will certainly be back!
