Chrissie's Hotel

Whoa! These people are rocking their hotel! So much wonderfulness here. Each and every staff person I met (and the owner) are sooooo nice and endlessly helpful. The room was gorgeous and they deliver hot water in the early morning to your door so you can have that all-important first tea. All the spaces are clean and beautiful. There are murals on the walls. I sent pictures home to several people. The food in the cafe was also excellent- breakfast is hybrid Indian and western. Homemade bread! Can you believe it? I’m sure I’m forgetting a hundred more things but just know, this is a great find! Book it! It’s your lucky day.

This place is just perfect! Came for a vacation with my family and everyone loved it. Adel, Anshad and rest of the staff were so warm, accommodating and always smiling! The food at the restaurant and breakfast were both really good. The home made jams, chocolates and peanut butter were so delicious. Would definitely come back when visiting Thekkady!

My wife, niece and I stayed here 10th and 11th of December 2025. It is a fantastic place to stay on the edge of the rain forest, close to the town and Periyar wildlife reserve. Adel was brilliant and couldn't do enough to help us, this also goes for his staff who were equally brilliant. Magic place fantastic stay.

The hotel is truly incredible. The surrounding environment is fascinating. The food caters to all tastes and they cook very well; the breakfast is delicious with a great variety of homemade products. The staff is wonderful, friendly, and always attentive. Adel is a truly charming person, almost like a close family member. I highly recommend this place

By far the best stay during our trip through India! A friend and I stayed here for three nights in total with a short break for an overnight stay in Periyar National Park. The hotel has everything you want: Nice rooms with individual artwork in every single one, balconies with a beautiful view in the garden/forest of the hotel (especially beautiful on the third floor), a pool, a very good Indian/Italian restaurant, yoga classes, the list goes on. But what makes this place really unique and an unforgettable experience are the heartwarmingly kind and welcoming people, who put so much effort in making the stay so special. We got help with any kind of question like visa, preparation for the Periyar Hike, train tickets and recommandations for Kumily and also they organised a surprise birthday reception and a delicious cake for my friends birthday when we returned from the National Park. Chrissie's is a fantastic place. We stayed there for 3 nights in August, and I have to say, we couldn't have asked for anything more. The rooms were great, with amazing views of wildlife (monkeys, giant squirrels etc), and the quality of the food at their restaurant was something I haven't found at any other place I've stayed in. The complimentary breakfast is great, and it included homemade jams, peanut butter, chocolate spread and muesli. It also had the option of south Indian breakfasts. Above all, the best thing about staying here is the service. All of the staff were incredibly helpful and they made us feel so welcome from the start. We had young kids with us, and they were also made to feel at home and were encouraged to feel free to roam around and play. The owners, Adel and his wife are super friendly and they have created a fantastic guest house in the heart of Kumily. I highly recommend and I'll definitely be returning!

Chrissie's Hotel is a perfect location for accessing places of interest within the area. The rooms are hand painted by visiting artists and balconies overlook an attractive garden or, if higher, the tree canopies. We saw monkeys, squirrels and many birds in the trees each day. Adel and his staff are so enthusiastic and could not be more helpful. They booked tickets and transport for us and offered useful advice during our trip. A variety of delicious foods are available at breakfast with home made breads and jams.

We had an absolutely fantastic time at Chrissie’s Hotel! The hotel itself is very comfortable and well decorated and surrounded by the Hotel’s beautiful garden and the nearby national park too. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming, and really made us feel at home. We also ate at the hotel, and the food is delicious and the menu wide-ranging. The breakfast buffet is also great, and includes a lot of options. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Chrissie’s, and I can’t wait to be back again!
