The service and food were excellent. I typically order the chicken fried chicken accompanied by mashed potatoes and a selection of fruits. I also highly recommend the chocolate cake, which is sizable and exceptionally delicious.

The Sunday 11 a.m. service meets my spiritual needs through song, liturgy, and the message. The open table of communion is welcoming for all to receive Christ's gifts of bread and wine that represent his sacrifice of love for us. The church's stained glass windows remind you of Christ's journey to the cross, all for loving us.

Christ Church Cathedral combines historic beauty with inspiring worship and thoughtful sermons. A peaceful, welcoming place for spiritual growth and community connection in the city.

I attended the 11 AM service on 12/15/24. I found the sermon to be very uplifting in trying times and find their inclusiveness of everyone in the LGBTQ+ community & Hispanic Community to be refreshing. The Gospel says love everyone. The church itself is very beautiful and the stained glass was gorgeous. Be sure to park in the parking garage at 512 San Jacinto St. that the church owns.

Google
be very aware there are seven parking spots that are under the umbrella of paid parking at the church has special access to and will sunday… Just unbelievable and disappointing. so shameful

8 AM Sunday Rite I Chapel Service was a great way to start our day. Sermon about prayer life was interesting, and equitable for Christians of all ages. Thanks be to God!

Google
Beautiful Episcopal church right down the street from Minute Maid ballpark. Beautiful garden inside and they also have a terrific restaurant Treebeards inside with Southern style food. Would definitely recommend to check out

Yelp
Had a wonderful time walking in and around the church. No one was really around to say anything so I was able to go everywhere. It was a really nice and beautiful experience

Yelp
There was a nice archway but the agent signs looked weird and the lights looked like bombs also don't forget about the terrible lighting and you have to give your money away how bad is that also I cannot even take the fact that when you're leaving all the staff members just come charging you need a run if you don't want them to catch up to you also when you're getting bread and wine they don't care if they bump into you

Yelp
Not to be confused with Crisp Church Cathedral, which sells Crisps (British version of chips) and is pretty religious about it. This is the beautiful Cathedral located in the center of Houston, and it's definitely one of the prettiest religious buildings around, and it looks old and small compared to what you might be expecting if you've visited the grand cathedrals of NY, DC, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and so on, but I think it's absolutely gorgeous and adds a lot of character and charm in downtown Houston.

Yelp
Another spot along my audio tour of Houston. I didn't realize this church has been around since 1839!!! It is also the cathedral of the Diocese of Texas. There is a small courtyard in the back with a small fountain. It was a nice quiet spot to sit and enjoy the day. The architecture is a marvel to gaze at too.

Yelp
While spending the weekend in Houston we decided to stop in at this cathedral because it caught our eye as we traveled through the city. When we arrived at the Cathedral it was early morning so we were able to enjoy the serenity of the building. The architecture here is incredible and the main garden is gorgeous. As we explored the cathedral we were greeted by some polite parishioners who welcomed us and let us reflect peacefully. This was something we greatly appreciated and we enjoyed the time we spent here.

Yelp
"Nice building" is the only positive about this church. I came for a visit but it did not feel warm and welcoming like every other Episcopal church. Maybe I'm just used to All Saints' Beverly Hills. I would find another one if you're looking for community and kindness.

Yelp
The Christ Church Cathedral Parking Garage - which is right across the street from the church (entrance on San Jacinto, just after Texas) - is THE nicest parkade in Houston! The garage has a frosted white glass exterior and the inside is full of light, unlike the dark and dingy norm. Parking is $6 / day but if you're going to the Church for a function, your parking is validated. The Church itself is beautiful; clearly, a treasure in downtown Houston. I'll have to return to see more of it since my initial visit there brought me to one of the newer buildings & not the Church proper.

Yelp
So the others have covered the history, the architecture, and yes, even the parking garage... What I have to share is the community. We've been calling the cathedral home since January, and it rocks. It's a diverse community - you'll find a fair number of 20 - 30 somethings and young families along with older folks. There's also a large Spanish speaking population, so there are some services in Spanish and some things are done bilingually. There's also great diversity in the clergy. You'll find a range of ages, backgrounds, and ethnicities within the clergy itself, and they all rotate so you get to hear these differences when they preach. It's inclusive - everyone is welcome here, including LGBT, and the church does more than just preach social justice, they live it, daily. But that's not to say that fun isn't to be had. The May Fete carnival is a lot of fun (and usually there's a keg of St. Arnold's in the courtyard), and who else would hold a bible study "by the glass" at OKRA on Monday nights. There's also film discussions for all ages and occasional lectures in the evenings. You'll also find one of their priests holding office hours at Minuti Coffee downtown on Thursday mornings. So come for the history and stay for the people. It's a great church.

Yelp
This is my church and I am thankful to have it as a part of my life. It is a great place of love and solace for many people.

Yelp
Beautiful architecture. Great history. Treebeard food in the cafeteria. Two blocks away from my work. Score.
