Wow! Some of the best wines I've had in the whole country at this little NC gem. This is no exaggeration. I've traveled from Napa, the Finger Lakes, Michigan Wine regions. and places in between, Christian Paul is making magic in NC. Besides chamboucin, red wines in NC are usually not that great. But here every glass had depth, smooth finish, and so much flavor. This is also the fullest body wine I've had in my many years coming to the Yadkin area. Most other vineyards are putting out reds that would be far to light for discerning wine drinkers, but somehow Christian Paul Vineyards is punching high above it's weight in the region. Well done! We came on a Sunday after visiting several other wineries that were mostly dead, but here we found a lively crowd and the quality of the wine speaks volumes as to why.
On a personal note, the owners Christian and Andrew were so personable and fantastic. Despite it being closing time, they took the time to talk to my group about the vineyard, family history, and wine as if we truly deserved their attention. And when I mentioned that I loved Malbec, Christian offered me a sample of an unreleased bottle as I would not be in NC on the release day.
No hard sell, just infectiously good wine, that I could tell Christian and Andrew genuinly just wanted to share with a fan. It's a simple thing but the kind of appreciation to the customer that will bring us back even though the wine already has us wanting more. Damn fine job, Cheers!
