"Christiansted Sure, it's the largest town on St. Croix, but it's the charming Danish-influenced architecturethat makes it mostnoteworthy. The city center is aprotected national park lined with candy-colored buildings and historic churches, whilethe streets are made of cobblestones and punctuated by stone archways. At the waterfront, which was a focalpoint of the island's sugar trade, a wharf is populated by restaurants, bars and water sports shops. There's also an 18th-century fort."

Yelp
Amazing place!!! Swing by if you're on STX. Music is quiet and chill. Food is amazing.

Yelp
Excellent food, nice homey ambiance and friendly service. We stopped in for dinner and had fish with delicious sides (especially coconut curry cabbage.) Delicious tamarind juice. Our food was better than the fancier pricier meal we had a few nights before. Will definitely return!

Yelp
I just love love love the food here. It's always fresh and cooked with love and care. The juices are phenomenal and are always a pleasant surprise. There's so much to offer here. Great place to eat and vibe. And the service is always on point. If you want a clean, electrolyzing meal, stop here and enjoy the healing that's to come.

Yelp
Best meal I had in St Croix! It was so good I went back for a second time before our flight. Chris pays a lot attention to the quality of his food and cares about healthy options. The menu changes daily which is a testament to the freshness of his ingredients. Chris cooks as soon as you order so if you're in a rush, call ahead because it takes about 15-20 minutes for freshly made greatness. My boyfriend and I got the grilled fish plate - one mahi and one tuna as well as blackberry lemonade and went back for a grilled tuna plate the next day with a side of lentil balls. I couldn't recommend Ital in Paradise more!!

Yelp
Wonderful food! My favorite gluten free pasta salad (Tuesdays only). The tuna was amazing. Great menu options for vegans, vegetarians and gluten free!
google avatar

Becca W.

Yelp
Great vegan food! We tried the lentil wrap, tofu sandwich, and pepper steak tofu plate. All were delicious, flavorful, and fresh. We also got a triple berry juice, which was good but overpriced in our opinion. We're planning on going back though.

Yelp
Food is delicious, service was above and beyond. Definitely an underrated spot in St. Croix!

Yelp
We weren't quite sure if they were open when we first went up the steps and looked inside. Thankfully they were because the food was outstanding. Chris was quick to great us and he put together a meal that was so good that my mouth is watering just thinking about it. My wife got the tofu plate and said that it was probably the best tofu she's ever had. Chris even talked with us for several minutes after our meal to talk about how he seasoned and prepared it. Don't skip out on this spot when you are on St. Croix. It's a spectacular restaurant run by a spectacular guy.

Yelp
I tried a salad today after my workout sesh. Fresh ingredients and Mahi Mahi that was seasoned and prepared well. Definitely worth a visit (or several)!

Yelp
Hidden place with delicious vegan Caribbean food, the place is small only tree tables for the whole restaurant. The food is so fresh and well made, the juices were great and very refreshing, if you are walking around Christiansted are this place a must stop.

Michael W.

Yelp
We found this place since it has a vegetarian special every day and my wife vegetarian. We were very happily surprised! The food was excellent and the portions were huge, well worth the price! The place is upstairs so we walked past it at first. We ate in for lunch yesterday and liked it so much we had take out dinner from There tonight. This will be our go to place every time we are on the island!

Yelp
We stopped in for a smoothie and Ital food to go. After reviewing the menu and due to the time factor, to catch the Sea Plane, we had two smoothies, both refreshing and delicious. I'd stop back next time as the healthy food options look great.

Yelp
Delicious, flavorful food! My party order the salmon entree and a salmon wrap...both were amazing . Will definitely go back next time I'm in St. Croix.

Yelp
Great options for vegan / vegetarian and also seafood lovers! Sadly they are offering a more limited menu and takeout only cuz of COVID. The food was pretty good with fresh ingredients, but I wish the salads had more mix of different veggies. Lentil Salad: The fried lentils were hot and crispy, delicious! Large plate of greens but not much variety of veggies for a salad. Salmon Wrap: Fresh seared salmon with a delicious sauce wrapped in a spinach wrap - def recommend trying.

Yelp
My fiancé and I stopped in here tonight on a mini vacation for my birthday. He's vegan and I'm a seafood person so we need places to suit us both. We both LOVED our food. He had a veggie special and I had grilled salmon, plantains, garden salad, lentils, curry cabbage and one other thing (I forgot). The plates were HUGE. The service was great also it was a young guy working and he was very pleasant.

Dwayne H.

Yelp
Small, repetitive daily menu. Decent vegan food. A lil on the sweet side(lots of fruit based sauces and dressings.
google avatar

Angeluca A.

Yelp
Wonderful food! Simple like that! The chef is so good that I feel like anything that I choose will be excellent!
google avatar

Hannah T.

Yelp
A must-visit in St Croix! I had the mahi and my husband had the salmon. Everything was delicious-- the grilled fish, the cilantro rice, the fresh salad, the homemade salad dressing, the plantains, and the lentil balls... Made to order and perfectly divine. I'm gluten and dairy free and didn't have a problem. The location is quaint and easy to miss, but it's well worth the trek up the short stairs to this gem. Absolutely recommend!
google avatar

Adriana Z.

Yelp
The place is small, but the food and drinks are amazing! And not far from Christiansted boardwalk.
google avatar

Karen M.

Yelp
I ate here based on the reviews. Only 3 tables inside. Most people were picking up Take Out. 2 grilled fish options or veggies. I chose Wahoo. Large piece of fish. Came with delicious rice, lentil balls, side salad and plantains. $32. Accepts cash, Venmo and PayPal. I thought it was a delicious meal. Thanks Chef Chris!

Yelp
After eating at all the usual places on the water and in town we found this hidden gem. I can't say enough about how much we throughly enjoyed it. I had the Vegan tofu plate and I'm not a tofu person, but it was absolutely amazing, so good. My girl had the mahi-mahi and thought it was the best she had on the island, and that is after eating at some high-end restaurants. Wish I had found Ital in Paradise on previous trips, we can't wait to return.

Dan T.

Yelp
Food was excellent and full of flavor with great service from a friendly staff. The ambiance was very basic for a mostly take away place but they had A/C.

Elena W.

Yelp
What an awesome find! Small, but great place with some amazing healthy food options. I'm vegan and they have great vegan options every day. Plant based at its best- fresh and delicious. The portions are huge and flavorful. The owner/ chef is super nice and friendly. The also have some great options for specialty drinks. Definitely will return here again! Epic place!

Yelp
Hidden gem of St. Croix. Great tasting food. Will definitely go back if I am ever on St. Croix again.

Yelp
This was honestly one of the best restaurants I've ever been to! We are vegetarian and enjoyed trying many of the Ital/Rastafarian/Vegan restaurants and mobile vendors on the island when we were there. Ital in Paradise was our favorite and we went 2-3 times during our trip. The food was so good -- old-school, soulfood vegetarian food which is healthy, nourishing, natural, and delicious. Exactly the kind of food I like to eat. I wish there were more Ital places like this in the U.S. so I could have it more often! This restaurant is small and there is just one owner/cook who works there -- so I recommend either ordering ahead for takeout, or going in small groups and being patient with waiting if you plan to eat inside. I still crave this food after leaving St. Croix!

Donta W.

Yelp
Some of the best vegan meals I ever had! Me and wifey were only on St Croix for two nights but this place was so good we ate here 3 times! lol! The food is so flavorful without being salty! I promise you, even a non vegan will love this place! They even have fish options for non vegans but the star of the menu has to be the lLentil Balls! If you don't try anything else you have to try the Lentil Balls! The chefs energy is so positive. I always heard St Croix was a delicious food destination but now I know that's truth! I loved the variety of vegan restaurants.

Zuzana T.

Yelp
Very hidden little place but definitely worth finding and trying out! Food was absolutely delicious. From other reviews, we thought it is purely vegetarian. To the pleasant surprise of our kids, they also had meat/fish options. My 12 year old daughter said "the salmon has very scrumptious seasoning". Portions were large- plenty for enjoying leftovers later. Highly recommended!

Ruby S.

Yelp
This is definitely a gem a great place to eat. Something for everyone excellent vegan options. The vegan balls are a must. Do not visit St.Croix without checking out this place

Yelp
Magnificent food, awesome customer service and magnificent food again. I went 2 days in row. I would have went everyday on my vacation had I been on that side of the island. I had my first peanut punch there among with other things. It was fresh to order.....I recommend this place to anyone in town who wants authentic fresh food of the island. We will be back Christopher.
google avatar

Yelp
Unassuming place I almost walked out but I was so glad I didn't! Yet another lesson in "don't judge a book by the cover" It was really good food!! Also as we ate I realized that while it wasn't fancy it was clean, nice and a very enjoyable atmosphere. Fish was fresh and the other vegetarian parts of the dish were fabulous! Nice quiet place on the second floor when we were there. Give this restaurant more traffic it's worth it! Really nice guy there, I think he might have been the owner. Also the lemonade and the sour lemonade were very tasty! Free refills if I remember correctly.

Yelp
Our favorite in town. We tried most other places during our stay here (including Zion, Balter, Savant, Singh's, Le Sol, Chicken Shack, Angry Nate's etc.) but returned here for our last evening. The gentleman who cooks has pride in his work and it shows. The food is fresh and even with the price being slightly higher than maybe (commercial, touristy) other places, I can say is totally worth it and more than fair! I love his fresh juices. The Vegan plate, as well as the fish plate, are awesome any given day. We have had the freshest plantains here (and trust me, I tried them everywhere on this island). The lentil balls are amazing (falafel style) and the mahi was cooked to perfection. The salad was fresh and good, just like the amazing rice. Do yourself a favor and eat at this authentic for at least once while here! You won't be disappointed! Note: The place seats only ten people, so keep that in mind, and I believe cash is the way to go!

Yelp
We stopped into Ital after a tough bit of luck trying to get dinner. The options are very limited (a vegetarian and a fish daily plate). My three companions and I ordered our food to take back to our Airbnb and it took a surprisingly long time (~40 minutes) to make given the very limited selection and the limited cooking that actually had to take place. I got the vegetarian plate and it was good but not a standout favorite of similar types of vegetarian food I have had before. There was very limited seating available in the restaurant but it was available for dine-in as of March 2021.

Natasha R.

Yelp
We love this hidden gem. It is a simple place with a talented chef/owner, Chris. We prioritize eating here and enjoying the fresh, tasty food whenever we are in St. Croix.

Yelp
Thank you to yelp for finding this gem in St. Criox! Excellent food and good portion sizes. There are a few tables, but you can also take to go. They typically have a fish dish and a vegan dish everyday - that's it. Two choices - but they are SOOO good and fresh. Love this rasta place!!

Deb M.

Yelp
What a wonderful, eclectic and yummy experience Chris provides at Ital in Paradise! We read reviews before visiting St. Croix and knew that this was a place we wanted to try solely based on the vegan menu and overwhelmingly great reviews. Chris is the whole of Ital in Paradise. We were greeted warmly, by Chris, upon our arrival, he patiently explained the interesting assortment of non-alcoholic drinks - all sounded yummy...and they were! We ordered the Thursday specials which Chris then went to the kitchen and prepared HIMSELF for us. Talk about service! Fresh, fresh, fresh! Everything was cooked to perfection. We will definitely return for more yummy food. Chris also was kind enough to share his Rastafarian beliefs with us, when we asked, which allowed us to learn and appreciate as well. If you love vegan food, this is a must visit on St. Croix. Fabulous, quaint atmosphere too. Loved it!

Bill J.

Yelp
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the salmon and snapper plates. The fish was prepared just right. The dishes were served with savory rice, bokchoy marinated in coconut milk and fried lentil balls. The quality was first rate and the food was prepared fresh. The peanut juice is a must! But save it for dessert. I wish we had discovered this earlier in our travels so we could have enjoyed more meals here.

Kristian P.

Yelp
Great lentil falafel! Came back for more to take home for snacks! Small place so great for takeout. Tricky to find above a jewelry store. Local dishes with so much flavor!
google avatar

Dallas K.

Yelp
Glad we found this little place. It's a little place on the 2nd story and is easy to miss. There are a lot of vegan choices but also fish. The daily specials are great. The falafel is really good, and I'm picky about falafel. The salmon was perfectly cooked -- better than most nice restaurants I've been to in the U.S. It went really well with the rice and salad. Very nice, friendly people, too. Oh, and the ginger pineapple juice is amazing and great to get after being seasick on a boat haha.

Yelp
Always awesome food and local beverages! It can be a challenge to find good vegan food anywhere, but Ital in Paradise never ceases to come through. Today we had a tofu salad and the daily special stewed tofu plate, and they were both out of this world! We don't usually eat dessert, but there was a beautiful gluten free vegan carrot cake on display and we couldn't resist. It was so moist and delicious that we had to take a piece home for later. We are so glad that Chris is there for us hungry vegans on St. Croix!

Sandra P.

Yelp
Love love love it. Quaint lil spot....had the lentil burger with fries.......so tasty... The owner/chef...nuff respect... will definitely be back......
google avatar

Michael O.

Yelp
Probably some of the freshest and most tasty food on the island. The fried cauliflower is just about perfect. Fried lentil balls are one of the most satisfying crunches you can find- crunchy on the outside and warm/moist on the inside. They make two full dishes per say, the veggie plate and the fish plate. The vegan plates are very filling, I've had em all. I usually get the lentil burger sandwich and pour their home-made hot sauce all over it because it's perfect. The curry cabbage is RIDICULOUS. My fish-eating friend got the Fish plate several times and he told me that the salmon is just about the only salmon he has ever liked. He also talked about the Wahoo sandwich for days. I have brought everyone that visits me to this place as it's one of the best spots on the island. Ital is located above milk & sugar, directly next to Rhythms. Follow the white steps :)
google avatar

Kyle T.

Yelp
Fresh and delicious, you won't leave hungry that's for sure, Chris is back there whipping up delicious plates, and good local drinks to go with it
google avatar

Yelp
Ital in Paradise serves gluten-free vegan food as well as fish dishes, for lunch and dinner. Chris is a very talented chef! His food is deliciously nutritious and quite honestly, when I eat here I feel good! Try his homemade juices too! Highly recommend!

Amanda F.

Yelp
The food is amazing, vegan, fresh, and satisfying. Chris and Simon are very friendly and do a great job. This is my favorite spot in St. Croix. I always go for the vegan plate be hungry when you come here, the plates are very filling
google avatar

Alexander V.

Yelp
"Local hole in the wall vegan-friendly joint that serves extremely generously, and seasons their food to perfection." Overall a very pleasant experience. I ordered pick up, the wait was a bit long (30 min), but worth every minute. We had the salmon plate and the tofu plate along with some soursop ice cream (made locally), and their mango and habiscus drink. The total was $60, and at first i felt the price to be a bit on the hefty side, but once I got home I realized the price you pay is truly fitting for what you get.
google avatar

Tana J.

Yelp
This is probably my favorite food spot on island. Chris makes his food with love and it tastes great, especially the lentil balls! Oh, my goodness! I don't know what he puts in them but those bad boys are amazing! The homemade melonaide is delicious too, and I am not a fan of melon but Chris has the magic touch. The vibe is very cool in this place too. Lots of Rastas and people who are all about good, kind living. You get a real sense of the island here and you can feed your body and your soul. Highly recommend it!
google avatar

Turk A.

Yelp
Let's just say St Croix is not a culinary paradise. Most islands are not anyways. BUT We have found Ital In Paradise in Christianstead. WOOOOW! So far the most delicious food we had on the island. I had the fish & my wife had Vegan. Both were super tasty. They are a small (4table) gem tucked on second floor walking distance from the water. EAT HERE! You owe your taste buds a favor after all the fried food served everywhere.

Will C.

Yelp
Stumbled on to this place our second day in St Croix which was great because it gave us many opportunities to eat there the rest of our stay. As a vegetarian it tends to be difficult to find good options on the island, but this place is definitely one. The veggie plates were always fantastic and left us feeling very full and satisfied but not weighed down with lots of oil, salt, etc. They also have great gluten free baked goods for desert! Also a note on the name, which I'm sad to admit I thought was just a play on "Italian", it is not. Ital is a food style commonly found in Rastafarian households which you should look up if you are interested in more information.
