"While the concept of a drive-through display is nothing new, Utah's Christmas in Color is taking the idea to a whole new level with light tunnels, giant candy canes, and synchronized music-and-light sequences featuring more than one million holiday lights. The event takes place at the Bastian Agricultural Center in South Jordan and tickets are sold per vehicle." - Travel + Leisure Editors

We caught the Wicked theme and it was awesome! We went right at 6 pm on New Year's Day and got to go right in without many cars in front or behind us, but even then, we could see all around us and catch all the different angles of the sights plus sounds. A very fun drive, albeit with plenty of ruts in the dirt-packed road. This was our first time going, so we didn't know what to do, but go to the website and buy yourself a ticket (per car; our price was $31 and I found it worth it, especially if you can pack your car, as I saw some groups doing) and download the code and show it at the entrance and you're off. No stress, just address, email, and credit card and you're in. Might become a new year tradition. They also gave us a free "party pack" and that was nice to bring home for fun.

Google
So fun!! We went on a Thursday night, waited about 10-15 minutes to get in and then it took about 45 minutes to drive through from start to finish. We purchased a party pack. Half the contents didn't work or was broken, we spoke to a worker and they gave us a second package to replace it. Overall a get experience. The kids loved it!! We all had a great time!! Even the family dog had a great time.

Google
The colors are fun and the weather was perfect. We piled all of us in the back of a pickup truck, which made it more fun. Bundle up! A couple of drawbacks though. They sold too many tickets for each time slot. We waited in a very long line for almost an hour just to get in. Hundreds of cars waiting and idling. At $50 a car, the experience shouldn't include that long of a wait. The other thing was the music. It was fun but we heard the same loop at least 5 times, mostly due to the long wait to get in.

Google
Really unimpressed. Your time is better spent driving around through neighborhoods. At least 10% of the lights didn’t even work. And nothing gave me a wow factor. I’ve seen better displays from amateurs. Save your money and find something more entertaining to do.

Google
This was a great experience for our family. Their line up process was efficient and orderly. From line up to finish it was under 30 minutes. Plenty of Christmas music and a variety of light placement kept the kids excited. The only critique I would offer is that the radio station you tune into isn’t always clear.

Jessica Fisher

Google
This was our first experience with a drive-through light show. We waited in line for about 25 minutes. I thought they did a great job with syncing the music with the lights. Our favorites were the tunnels! The 3D glasses were cool at first but made a few of us motion sick after a few minutes. Our kids thought it was fun to stick their heads up through the sun roof. It was a fun experience. Our kids definitely liked it more than we did.

Google
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! We can hear the music through the radio station, and the lights flickered to the beat of the song(s). We purchased the package 🥰 and It comes with 3D glasses. So, some of the pictures reflect with and without 3D (kinda hard through the lens of your phone and 3D glasses - I tried). Enjoy 😍.

Whatever you are doing in the evenings before Christmas, make time to fill your vehicle with people and head to Christmas In Color. It’s one price for a full car/truck and worth every penny! So very cool. Over a million lights. Very entertaining way to spend a holiday hour. They give you 3-D glasses that make viewing the light quite a trip! It’s out in South Jordan, but easy to access.

Mindi A.

Yelp
Year past this has been a great event. Tonight the 23rd has been horrible. 9:00 tickets and we just started in the lights at 955. They are overselling slots big time. Maybe be they did a Groupon. The lights are cool and it's normally a good value but too long of a wait this year

Shirley H.

Yelp
Where do I even begin? $60 for 18 minutes of actual Christmas light viewing time, didn't receive the items from the party pack that was paid for, had to book a specific time slot and arrived early, but my row wasn't let in until 30-40 minutes later than the designated time, while some rows of cars that came later than us were let in earlier. We were told we could hear something on the radio (later I found out it was music) but weren't told what the radio station was. After an employee scanned our QR code through the car window to confirm that we had paid, they never showed up again. The beginning part of the Christmas lights was the most fun and unique - but later on, a lot of the light structures got very repetitive. The lights were not impressive enough to be worth such an extravagant entrance fee, and the experience before getting to see any lights was ludicrous. This was a waste of time and money. Never again.

Sydney A.

Yelp
I went to this Christmas in Color on Saturday December 7th. Turns out they're closed for a private event, no hate to private events but I don't think a christmas drive thru lights should be closed on a Saturday in December for a private event. A private event should during the week or on a weekend in november. Given the other reviews it was probably best we just went to some houses that were set up with a radio station and lights, it was free and much better than this.

Tommy S.

Yelp
Nightmarish experience. It's been over an hour and we still aren't in. Cars at a standstill the whole time. Kids were like why did you make us do this? Avoid at all costs! Find something else to do. Waste of money and time.

Ian S.

Yelp
We loaded our kids into our suburban and drove to Christmas in Color in South Jordan. The queue was a short 5-minute wait before Santa waved us in. We rolled down our windows, opened the sunroof, and cranked up the 87.9 FM radio Christmas tunes. The dancing light extravaganza had our kids dancing and shouting out Santa's reindeer names. The kids felt the holiday vibes as our car slowly rolled through light tunnels, around signing snowmen, and past dancing polar bears. I recommend Christmas in Color to adults and kids who love Christmas music and lights.

Stephen S.

Yelp
Christmas in Color is a drive through Christmas light experience. It is about a 30 minute experience. It was a little pricey but if you have a lot of people in one vehicle I imagine you could make it worth it. You pay and make a reservation online.

Chase F.

Yelp
So sad to see what Christmas in Color has turned into. A few years ago this was the highlight of the holiday season. Employees were the worst this year. Lined us up into 10 rows for our 5:30 slot. Only to let the first row in, 'forgot' about the rest of the rows and waved the 6:00 slot down the first row and just kept letting them go. We waited over an hour for a 13 minute experience. Most of the 5:30 scheduled vehicles somehow made it in after the 6:00 slot vehicles. When we brought the issue up, the staff said 'you can leave if you want to cause problems'. The problem is you need to do your job. The amount you are charging per car, we are expecting a higher quality product then what you are providing. Quite a few of the lights were already broken. This has turned into an obvious money grab with zero care on the quality being given.

Hannah H.

Yelp
If you have a large car and fit a good amount of people in it I would say it's definitely worth the cost. Especially this year with the little added reindeer added scavenger hunt and message from Santa. However if you have a small car and can only fit two Kids and two adults it might be a little too pricey. Also like another reviewer said it was very icy and possibly a hazard. They should have a truck go through with everyone else every once in a while to salt the pathway. I'm not sure if we will splurge every year to do this display show but we will definitely do it if we have a large group since you pay per car.

Matt F.

Yelp
if I could give it less, I would. zero management of peoples time, streets a mess. same lights every year. never going back

Heather H.

Yelp
Our family had so much fun! Super fun, super cute, and super pretty:) Will definitely return next year!

Sophia C.

Yelp
Very cute show! It lasted about 20-25 minutes and had good Christmas songs playing during the whole show They also have hot coco you can buy!

Nycole R.

Yelp
If you're looking for a fun activity to get in the festive mood, while maintaining safe distance in this crazy time that we live in-check out Christmas in Color. This year, it's held at the South Jordan Fairgrounds-a wonderful location! The light show is synced to music, which is pumped through your car radio when you tune in to the proper channel (89.7, I believe.) The music loops about every 30-40 minutes, so you may get to hear the same song twice, depending on how long it takes you to get through the full display. If everyone keeps a steady pace, you'll probably finish the entire round in about 40 minutes. There are flashing, dancing and twinkling lights-so if you're prone to seizures, you may want to sit this one out. A few tips to ensure you get the most out of your experience: * Use promo code Sojo2020 for 15% off * Purchase your ticket online for the time slot you want to attend * Bring along treats or hot chocolate-sweets pair well with lights! * Turn off your car lights as you drive through * Don't stop (unless the car in front of you does) and stay in your vehicle * Pile everyone in the back of a pickup for maximum enjoyment! (Note that there's not a parking lot to leave additional vehicles, everyone parked along 2200 W. Be careful and don't block traffic as you shuffle people around.

Yelp
I bought the $60 "VIP Admission for 1 Vehicle - Party Pack Ticket" from Groupon and it included: Diffraction Glasses (x4), Light Bulb Necklaces (x2), Candy Cane Light Batons (x2), Rudolph Noses (x2) and CIC Air Freshener (x1). HOWEVER, I later heard from a friend that they got the same party pack for free on the last day of the show with their $35 general admission...wah! Other than that, I really enjoyed the whole thing. It was little crowded but we had all the times in our hands :P Kids (& the adults as well) had super fun with the songs and synchronized lights. Appreciate their efforts.

Nicole M.

Yelp
We purchased tickets for Christmas in color about a week before. It was a nightmare when we went. We waited in line for almost 45 minutes and barely moved. The time slots didn't really seem to matter. It just felt like a long traffic snake. Once you're inside of the venue, it is impossible to exit out. We ended up turning around after almost an hour of waiting as we would have had another 2 hours in front of us until we were out of the event itself. Don't get me wrong, the lights looked beautiful and the set up is deluxe, but they need to have a better system logistically. Their current system just does not work.

Duy K.

Yelp
DO NOT BUY TICKETS IN ADVANCE WITH A TIMESLOT. There is absolutely no benefit to doing so. They accept drive ups.. so much drives ups that you'll be waiting a couple hours to get inside. Online tickets are not refundable and you can't change them to a different day. Unfortunately since I have toddlers, it wasn't possible for me to wait the couple hours required to get in and now I'm out $50 dollars. Would of love to rate the lights but I didn't get to go in because my tickets that I bought are not transferrable to a different day/time slot.

Nikki S.

Yelp
We had a great experience.. there was a wait to get in but with that many people wanting to do the same thing, what else would someone expect?! It was fun and even our older (teen) kids loved it!

Brandis S.

Yelp
Christmas in Color is one of the highlights of my holiday season each year! I have been to various locations and the fairgrounds is my favorite. This is a particularly great activity for when you want to enjoy a holiday display safely from your car. Tickets should for sure be reserved in advance. The closer to Christmas you go, the longer the line will be. But this is the one time where a line is actually fun! Bring along some snacks and your own holiday music while waiting. You can also buy snacks there, if needed. The light display is top notch! While I don't find that it changes much from year to year, the synchronization and the tunnels are so enthralling, I could see them 50 times in a row without getting bored! It seems like kids love the displays, but this is definitely a fun outing for people of all ages. This will be a holiday tradition for me for many years to come!

TJ D.

Yelp
This was our 4th year attending and may be our last. Despite purchasing a reserved time we were left in line waiting for over an hour. If you do decide to go I would recommend purchasing the VIP pass if you value your time.

Greg V.

Yelp
The operation of this event is abysmal. There is zero planning for anything outside of the light display. Purchasing tickets in advance is a joke because even when they are sold out they still accept all drive ups, which leads to EXTREMELY long wait times. We were in line for well over an hour. If you enjoy long lines for events that have no operational procedures this is the event for you! On a scale of fun to rage inducing, I give this a four holes in the drywall rating.

Justin B.

Yelp
The 1 hour and 52 minute wait is simply not worth it. Especially with little ones. They do not have the patience. The displays are simple, but fun and I'd have no problem spending $35 to drive through it. But we had to reserve a time slot, which was at 8:30, we got in line right at 8:10, wound our way all the way up until they divide everyone into one of about 8 lanes, waiting there without moving from 9:37 until 10:02 when we finally got to start driving through. It took about 20 minutes to drive through. Not worth the time.

Lavinia H.

Yelp
Huuuuge line but the wait wasn't bad at all! They have a pretty good system going and made it efficient. My kids had a BLAST. Only reasons I would deck maybe half a star is some of the music choice lol it was fine just not as dazzling as the lights were. The symphony songs and classics were perfect. Also there was a worker there who checked in she was the best, black short hair pale skin and blue eyes. Superb customer service.

John S.

Yelp
Stop selling VIP tickets in Groupon if you are sold out! I'm screwed out of my groupon because I can't use it! Disappointed family and kids!

Jennifer O.

Yelp
I brought my son there twice this year. The second time was with a Groupon, unfortunately my phone was being slow and I couldn't pull it up, so I reluctantly bought a second ticket, then I very quickly was able to find my original ticket. The staff gave me an email address so I could request a refund and pay with my original ticket, and ensured me it would be easy. Well several emails with customer service later, they're unwilling to help or even acknowledge that a refund is possible under any circumstance - even overcharging. It's such a bummer because this was a Christmas tradition, but beware if you're accidentally overcharged or double charged, there is no customer service to take care of it. Just be very careful when paying as they're willing to scam their patrons. We unfortunately won't be supporting them again after this experience.

Ben W.

Yelp
We were able to attend the location at the Provo Mall in the parking lot on their VIP night and it was a lot of fun! We didn't have to wait barely at all, were given instructions on which radio station to use for the music, and then it was pretty smooth sailing the rest of the time. For an adult it can probably get a little monotonous, but that's not really the point for a lot of people. This is a great family thing to do because most kids will really enjoy it--I know my nephews that were there did! You might think it doesn't take long to get through, but the course (not sure what to call it) isn't short and cars will slow down at the cool/funny parts, like the singing snowmen or the light tunnels. We were told 1/2 an hour to complete it and I think we did take around that time.

Philoneous H.

Yelp
They way oversold the time slots, They didn't give us what we paid for. We paid for a party pack and didn't get it. They didn't scan our ticket, the guy just looked at it, therefore groupon says we haven't used it yet.. Yep thats how Christmas in Color gets around saying we never came therefore I have no ground to stand on. They will not respond to any inquiry. groupon, they are not any better ? They don't care either. Show was ok but i'll be hard pressed to use either again. Beware all -- make sure when someone comes by your car that get what you paid for. You won't see anyone after the move you from the parking lot! Dishonest Christmas in Color !!!!

Sam S.

Yelp
My family has visited Christmas In Color for three years running and it gets better and better each year. We love the creative and colorful Christmas lights synchronized to holiday classics. It's great to have something festive to do "outside" without needing to bundle up to make the cold bearable. Our toddler loves the lights and dances along to the music. The loop is about 30 minutes long and there are lots of great songs and creative light sequences. Thank you for a fun family holiday tradition!

Missy B.

Yelp
2018 update: After going through this year I have a few thoughts to add. First, the display seems to be identical to last year...same set up, music, everything. It was still thrilling to the kids, but if you're looking for novelty, you won't find it. As before, book your tickets online. Google will probably help you find a discount if you're not going on a weekend as there are tons of coupon codes floating around out there. Also, it gets packed after about 6:30, but it is a virtual ghost town before that. If you can make the 5:30 appointment, it's completely dark, so no loss in quality, but you don't have the annoying crowds. Still the most painless way to see Christmas lights around. 5 stars just for that!

Katie R.

Yelp
We purchased tickets over a month a half before our ticketed date, and traveled from Montana with a little one that was very excited. We received no emails, or any other contact, other than a confirmation the day of purchase. We arrived, along with about 15-20 other cars with no lights, employees or other indication of a cancellation. We waited for 45 min. and nobody ever came. I attempted to contact the company, only finding a response via social media. I was told my ticket sale was a "glitch" and that people were contacted through email. Even though I double checked email in junk folders, no contact was received. No apology was given, and I was told 3 days later that I would receive a refund in 5 business days (which I still haven't received). No attempt to reschedule was given. Additionally, my comment on Facebook about waiting, along with about 10 other comments, was deleted. Very sketchy, un-business like, and overall disappointing. I would not give this business my money.

Tania B.

Yelp
We bought tickets to this show and they cancelled the show. I have tried numerous times to reschedule and get in touch with someone at the email they provided. No response. I contacted corporate. No response. If you want to get your kids excited for this event, only to disappoint them and lose the money you spent, you definitely should buy tickets because they stole our money. My 8 year old daughter was disappointed. I do not recommend this event at all. Look at the reviews online. I am not the only one experiencing this issue. They should be ashamed of themselves to do this to kids and families at Christmas. Want a number to get in touch with them? Good luck. They don't post one on their website for a reason. I have sent approximately 7 emails at this time. No response. Don't disappoint your kids.

Tammy E.

Yelp
Don't waste your money! After reading the advertisement regarding how magical of an experience this would be, we were very disappointed. Basically it's lights in a parking lot that you drive through. We paid extra for the Fast Pass which was ridiculous since there was no dedicated lane and not necessary. For what you pay for, you are much better off driving through a neighborhood with holiday lights.

Brianna B.

Yelp
We've been doing this as a tradition the last 6 years. However, this year we decided we weren't going back. We bought a ticket online for a late time because everything else was sold out. When we got there it still took more than an hour to get in. Once we were in the music played in 29 second snippets. The kids were most annoyed by that. They miss hearing the full songs. And my husband was most annoyed by trying not to bottom out the car. The road was not maintained and there were really awful potholes everywhere. This used to be fun. It's now just obnoxious. I'm sad they seem more focused on taking all of our money, then creating a worthwhile, fun, family Christmas activity.

Amanda H.

Yelp
Waited in line for an hour, only to find out they were sold out and not letting any more cars in. Why not have a sign somewhere along the way letting customers know?? Hard to leave with a car full of disappointed people.

Krista K.

Yelp
Christmas in Color is woven in as an integral part of our family Christmas traditions. We head there on Christmas Eve with blankets and hot chocolate so we can drive through with our fun 3D glasses on and sunroof open. The staff was awesome, going the extra mile for us at times. Highly recommended! Although, reluctantly...because in actuality, I want the place to ourselves and it does tend to get overcrowded (so I wish they would manage the crowd better by limiting tickets).

Rose M.

Yelp
Christmas in Color 2019 Bandimere Light show... very underwhelming. I was fairly excited to get to see this drive through light show especially after seeing the Denver mile high tree and watching so many peoples snap chat stories of the lights... I was very sad to see that even after buying a time slot ticket we still had to wait in the line for a little over 30 minutes and it was definitely not organized to where Im sure people that even arrived before me for earlier tickets were waiting with me still. Once entering we were told driver couldn't where the cool light glasses (keep this in mind) driving through it was very disappointing to see a major amount of lights were broken or turned off and were un-bothered to be fixed for the paying customers. Lots of open space not to add for every car to be paying $30.... I saw soooo many people enter during the time I was there and to know the flow of people that go through - they should have a way better organization system, better budget, AND more staff possibly because me and my boyfriend got rear ended due to someone wearing the light show glasses not worth the money

Nichole R.

Yelp
I'd give it more stars if it were cheaper! But for that price there should be more variation in the decor. I wish I'd come here and read the reviews before I paid 30$ to see trees and a few tunnels over and over. The tunnels were really cool but that's it. There's a show in Spanish Fork that's about half the price and twice the excitement. Also the shops at Riverwoods has a huge light display for FREE.

Nicole S.

Yelp
It's a trap! It doesn't matter if you buy tickets for a time slot because the line is absolute madness and by the time you get in it's well after the time slot. There's no way to get out of line if you want out and don't want to wait to get in. There is no method to the way they choose who goes in which lines and who waits forever no matter what time slot you get. The lights were okay but not worth the wait or cost. I've been to every light display in the Denver metro area and this was the worst in value. If you value your time you won't go to this display.

Katie H.

Yelp
We drove 45 minutes only to be told that they weren't opening. No email, no Facebook post, no text, no phone call to tell us in advance. Left disappointed.

Rachael A.

Yelp
I had some good and some bad things to say about this. The line was really long to get in. I had no idea you were supposed to go to a particular radio station to hear music along with the lights. That could be more clear. An employee yelled at us for stopping our car for a few seconds to take a photo. He was very rude about it and it was Christmas Eve. Still not happy about that. Not sure it's worth the $30 for the experiences I had.

Melinda D.

Yelp
My family went to this on Thursday December 22 and really enjoyed ourselves. We all loved it and were impressed. Tonight, December 28, we had family come into town for the night. We decided to take them down to this and were excited to share it with them. The hours are posted to be open until 10:00. We got there at 9:40 and the kid told us they couldn't accept our cash and were not letting cars in without online tickets purchased. They turned away a car full of kids, whom we had made excited on the way down. I think anybody running a business would jump at the chance to make a couple extra bucks. Instead the three guys sitting in the shack playing on there phones were getting paid to turn cars away. Frustrated!

Rachel R.

Yelp
Nice synchronized lights. Music was fun. Thoroughly enjoyed it for the first 5 minutes. Unfortunately, it was super repetitive. Very beautiful but played ths same music multiple times with the same decor. Pavilions, trees, tunnels and repeat. Takes between 10-30minutes to go through. It is very overpriced at $25+ per car.

Don A.

Yelp
I was very impressed with this. We paid $27 online for our car and there was no wait. The lights were fantastic and the synced music was legendary. I am sad they do not advertise more, but it will be a tradition from now on. I was a little disappointed some cars refused to turn their headlights off. Most said they can't turn them off. This is complete BS though because every car has the ability to turn off the headlights. It is a requirement by law. I won't mark down the festival for it but in the future they should require a vehicle the driver knows how to operate fully.

Christine B.

Yelp
We were blown away by this presentation!! The only downfall was the music was in and out so we just put on Pandora and the lights magically played with it! There was no wait and everyone who went in took their time so it didn't feel rushed at all! Totally worth every penny!

Darcey B.

Yelp
When we lived in Virginia, there was a similar drive-through light display that was WAY more interesting and two miles long (look up Celebration in Lights in Newport News). There was NEVER a wait for it, and it was only $10 per car, even on Christmas Eve (looks like they've gone all the way up to $12 for this year). Christmas in Color is fun at first, but you see the entire show once or twice just while you're waiting in line to go through, which takes forever even though your tickets are for a specific time. Then you get to listen to it a few more times while driving through. I think it ran through every single song at least 3-4 times while we were there so it was ridiculously repetitive and got old and boring pretty fast. Even the display is incredibly repetitive with the same singing snowmen and light tunnels over and over again. The cars drive through so incredibly slowly and you're packed in bumper to bumper going back and forth like you're in a grocery store going through each aisle. I just hopped online to buy a ticket again this year, thinking our one year old would especially enjoy it, but it just came to my memory how repetitive and boring it became last year. Seeing the $30 price tag for the only day my husband is home next week made the decision for me. Not worth it.

T I.

Yelp
Very fun music synced Christmas light show that winds through the marina and campground areas. You drive through and tune your radio to 99.9 for the coordinates music. Took about 15 minutes. This is the first year at this location. A fair amount of repetition through the different sections. We got a big discount (paid $15) booking our ticket a month ago, but there is no way I would pay the $26 Mon-Thu or $32 Fri and Sat prices. I just don't think it's worth that. There are similar venues a few towns away that are much more affordable. That said, if money is no issue, our toddlers loved it. The adults enjoyed it as well, but commented that it was barely even worth the $15 fee for the car admission (carrying 4 passengers) much less the ticket booth price. Overpriced for what you get. This early in the season, there were no lines to compete with. There were a slow steady stream of cars throughout the time we were there. Go when it's super dark for the most impact, not close to sunset.
