Hotel Britomart Review | Hotels Above Par

"A highly recommended city spa often cited as among the best in Auckland, offering signature massages and facials alongside a wellness center with a steam room, dry sauna, pool and oversized jacuzzi—suggested for decompressing after a day of sightseeing or outdoor activity."

My partner and I had the couples massage at Chuan Spa, and it’s easily in my top 5 best massages ever 💆🏽‍♀️ We started by choosing from five different massage oils, each smelling SO good and instantly relaxing. My massage therapist got the pressure just right - firm enough to work out the tension, but not uncomfortable. Afterwards, we were served bubbles, tea, water, and a small snack… the perfect way to end such an awesome experience 🥰 Staff were warm, welcoming, and super accommodating throughout. The facilities were also great - they had lockers, showers, hairdryers, toilets, and a water stations were all available. The herbal steam room was lovely (until the steam unexpectedly stopped), and the sauna was the most relaxing thing ever. There was supposed to be an ice bath, but it wasn’t there during our visit. Another minor thing to improve: it was quite busy when we went, and the floors were already a bit wet, with towels on the ground. For a 5-star hotel spa with a premium price, a tidier way to manage this would really elevate the experience. All in all, this was such a treat and a truly relaxing afternoon. Next time we’ll come earlier to make the most of the other facilities. Pricey, yes - but worth it. Highly recommend! 🤩

Different parts of the whole spa experience vary from 3 to 5 stars. It is obvious that the Valet are well trained and only have one expectation; to make guests feel like VIP’s from arrival to departure - 5 stars to them. It slowly went downhill from there. The lady at the spa reception, though friendly, went through the procedure so quickly that I could not keep up. She was not at her station when we were ready to leave so had to wait a while to get our valet ticket stamped. We were booked in for a full body massage which I have had a few times at other places and they usually include the feet; less than a minute was spent on each foot which was rather disappointing; 3 stars. My husband and I used the slippers and gowns that were in our lockers and mine was almost to the floor while his fitted like a mini. Not sure why they did not let us choose our sizes upon arrival. Herbal sauna was a treat, so was the spinner to dry togs. Jacuzzi jets were not on, so we asked for them to switched on and were told that reception would be notified, nothing happened. As we were about to leave, someone spotted the button to turn on the jacuzzi. I suggest clear signage so that guests can maximise its use. Not sure if I will return.

Had a wonderful, relaxing experience. The massage was excellent and the atmosphere calm and restorative. It would have been even better with a brief tour beforehand and a towel provided to enjoy the steam and sauna.

I wish I could rate this hotel spa experience better since I was desperate for some relief after a 14-hour long-haul flight. I booked a 2-hour massage, facial, pedi package ($340). My therapist was sweet, but clearly inexperienced (in technique) and there was a definite language barrier. Suni explained that since I had gel toes to remove, the pedi wouldn’t work in the time allotted. (though no one explained the package was for non-gel I wasn’t worried, as I thought I could save the pedi bit for a future visit). In the end, unbeknownst to me, my spa package only included the massage and facial slightly “extended”. Since I wasn’t enjoying the experience and was very cold, I would have liked to have known this in advance. If the package wasn’t so expensive, I would not bother to write a poor review. If the 2 receptionists (as I was leaving) were even remotely interested in tying to understand my disappointment, I would not be writing this review. Bottom line: Hotel spas likely don’t need to rely on repeat custom.

The massage was a 5/5 amazing! But the facilities were below average due to the amount of screaming children and parents. The changing rooms were messy. I was siting in the sauna trying to relax before my massage and a very loud lady opens the door to let her 3 girls in all under the age of 10 to sit in there to warm up because there were no towels. Shes negotiating with them on how long they can stay in there while holding the door wide open for a good minute. There was zero possibility or relaxing or being Zen with all the kids. For one of the most expensive spas in Auckland they could handle this better.

After the treatments, I was treated to a cup of aromatic herbal tea. It was the perfect moment to enjoy a feeling of lightness and renewal. The spa exceeded all my expectations! It is a place where you can forget about your problems and worries and devote time to yourself and your health. I will definitely come back here again and recommend this paradise to all my friends and acquaintances. It is an investment in a good mood and excellent well-being!

Debbie was amazing! Best massage I've had. So lovely to relax at the rooftop pool and spa pool and use the sauna before my appointment.
