Chulia Heritage Hotel

Clean, minimal and no fancy idiot colors. I'm a minimalist so I appreciate the minimalistic look of the room. However few notes: (1) I l thought it's within walking distance to the Armenian Street, but it's not really. (2) I was led to believe that there will be window but apparently we can’t open it. (3) No air conditioning at the lobby. Overall, it's an OK place to stay. The vibe is above OK. I enjoyed my stay.

We booked Chulia Herritage hotel for a 4 days 3 nights stay via Trip.com. We paid RM709.08 for 2 standard double rooms. We parked our car just infront of our room. We checked in and paid cash of RM12 for tax and another cash of RM100x2room or RM200 as deposit. We got our key card and our room just next to the entrance numbering 122 and 123. Room. We felt that the bed was firm but good enought to support our body also there were 4 pillows on the bed. We were so surprise that Milo 3 in 1 was provided in the room on top of Nescafe and tea begs. There was 2 electricy socket outside the toilet and one beside the window sofa chair. There was 2 sabun name MAY on the basin in the toilet and no toothbrush was provided. I feel happy to stay in this hotel even though sometimes got mosquito attack sometimes. Morning time, we checked to Red note or Google search and found somethings for stomach and we walked to the nearby Pasar or Market in the morning for white coffee and also the Island problem resaurant Japanese fish roe rice not bad for dinner even though not cheap.

Hotel was in a convenient location close to everything. Shower room was very small and was over the toilet so if you forgot to move the toilet roll it was very wet but shower pressure was really good. There was only 1 room Card provided even though we asked for more. The beds were really hard and didn't have a good sleep. The air conditioning was strong and worked well.

Location wise is suitable for walking distance around that area. Should put a big sign board to know the junction of the hotel as it wasn't visible from main road. Room is ok but the bathroom is abit too small for me and could have been renovated better. When showering all are wet, including the toilet bowl and the sink. This is a put off for me.

Th location is good. But there's only one plug at the door, which is not convenient. Besides, some flyers come out from the bath, and the quilt doesn't seem to be very clean. But the staff is very good.

Security is tight & we feel safe to park our car in front of the hotel. The receptionists were friendly and helpful in giving us tips of places to eat. The security guard is friendly too. We felt welcome. Only lacking is a small fridge in the room.

Excellent Stay in the Heart of George Town! I had a wonderful experience at Chulia Heritage Hotel. The location is absolutely perfect — right in the middle of George Town, walking distance to delicious street food, famous murals, and all the must-see heritage sites. It’s a great base for exploring Penang. The building itself is charming and full of character, blending colonial architecture with modern comfort. My room was clean, cozy, and well-maintained. I especially appreciated the powerful air-conditioning, hot shower, and complimentary drinking water. The staff were friendly, helpful, and always smiling. Check-in was fast, and they even gave great tips on nearby attractions. I also liked that there was free parking available — very convenient if you’re driving. For the price, this hotel is a gem. It’s simple but has everything you need for a comfortable stay. I would definitely come back again and recommend it to anyone looking for a budget-friendly yet stylish place to stay in Penang!

Great location, bus stops are just along the road out front if one is inclined to take them. Building is tucked away from the road, behind the shophouses, so you’ll get a peaceful night’s rest, although roads there aren’t that busy at night.Rooms are clean, but look a tad tired though.
