If you are a fan of delicious Korean cuisine, you simply cannot miss this gem. Their noodles are not only incredibly tasty but also come in huge portions that are sure to satisfy any appetite.

EDITTED: The first few times I came, I didnt want to come back but since this is the only Jjajangmyeon place in the north, we came back on the days we were craving it. We noticed every time we came back that the food is getting slowly better. Today was probably our 7th time and it was way better. There's still room for improvement, but overall the flavour is there. The breaded pork is absolutely delicious. The jjampong to our surprise had such a strong meat broth taste which was so tasty! Jjajangmyeon tasted better but I think can be changed more. I was surprised to see a boiled egg on it since usually if an egg is offered, its a fried egg, but I think they used boiled egg because they can give half to save ingredients. They were busy today which is why the service lacked a little bit, but again, when I go to a Korean restaurant, usually I am not expecting high end service, so that is okay. All in all, our whole family enjoyed the experience today. This was my 2nd time trying Chun Jang. The 1st time, I was so disappointed by their black bean noodle, I made a promise not to come back, however, a good friend recently went and said it tasted different and the. food quality has changed. So, my husband and I gave it a try today. I must say the black bean noodle was actually not bad. The sweet and sour pork was really good! It was chewy and savoury. We were very pleasantly surprised. The jjampong though was a disappointment. Barely any seafood and the soup lacked flavor. It tasted heaby with ground peppers. The quanity was on the smaller side because my husband and I were not full after the meal. Also, they cheap out on the side dishes by giving like 4 pieces of onion at a time. San Dong Ban Jeom is my favourite black bean noodle place in Calgary still and when we order the classic combo, we have left overs because we get sooo full. Chun Jang is just closer to home, but I would still drive further to go to San Dong Ban Jeom. I hope Chun Jang can work on their food a bit more and improve and be a bit more lenient with portions.

After hearing numerous positive reviews, I was eager to try this place but found the experience underwhelming. The Kkanpunggi featured a batter-to-chicken thigh ratio of approximately 7:3, which detracted from the dish’s overall quality. The Jjajang was excessively greasy, and the Tangsuyuk was plain, offering nothing particularly distinctive or memorable. Given the higher price point compared to similar establishments, the overall experience did not justify the cost.

Amazing authentic Korean, my girl was so happy with the jjamgppong she said it reminded her of her childhood back in Korea. The black noodles were amazing as well staff was so kind. Highly recommend if you are looking for authentic Korean noodle house.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly, which made the atmosphere warm and inviting. The noodles were good, but I had to wait a bit longer than expected—perhaps because it was dinner time. The soup had good flavor, though I personally found there were too many onions. Overall, it was a good meal, and I’d consider coming back!

I used to go to Chun Jang often because the service was always great, but I was really disappointed with the cheese kkanpoonggi this time. The portion was surprisingly small, and the dish was extremely soggy and oily. It cost $30-$40, so we tried to eat it, but after just a few bites, we gave up. It was honestly terrible.

Visit: September 2024 The staff was really nice and the restaurant was clean. They have set combos which is nice. The noodles were okay, but didn't have a lot of meat in it (which makes sense with the price of the bowl). The pork tangsuyuk was good, but the meal felt very repetitive part way through. I feel like some more variety of side dishes such as kimchi and potatoes, would have helped with this Overall decent place for the cost and taste

Stumbled into this place as we were craving noodles. We were greeted by all staff members and positive attitude. Love the atmosphere with open space and nice Korean music. The vibe is nice, love the interior design. As for food, blew our minds away. The spice level is accurate for those that are looking for “true spice”. Portion is good for the pricing. And! You are given tea as your beverage (which is also really good). Overall awesome place to go to. Thank you!

Yelp
My son and I walked in a little after the lunch hour and was greeted warmly by the restaurant staff. Our server was friendly, helpful, and attentive. We ordered the japchae with pork, sliced onions, wood ear mushrooms, julienned carrots, sliced zucchini, and water chestnuts. It was certainly a pleasant surprise to find wood ear mushrooms along with a flavourful, peppery sauced japchae. The Beef Jjam Bbong with vegetables(onions, zucchini, carrots, bamboo shoots) was hot and comforting(with the perfect amount of gochujang) and the steamed buns complemented both of these dishes perfectly(we didn't quite understand the side dish of sugar, though). There are a couple of discounts/add ons(until the end of January) if you present your receipt from the nearby A-Mart. Overall, we enjoyed an extremely satisfying and filling lunch. We will be back!

Yelp
Excellent staff, and wonderful atmosphere for eating with friends or family! The food was very good, and great value for the price. Would definitely come again.

Yelp
The food took an hour. We ordered 3 of the same thing and tables that were seated after us were given their food before us. Then the server tried to justify the horrid service by saying that different plates have different cook times. Really?! An hour?! And then he tried to justify the hour wait by telling me about the chicken place he ordered from taking an hour. I will never come back here again. There are other places in town I can eat at. 1 star for the food being decent but it doesn't justify the service.
