I was walking along the city wall opposite Santa Theresa when it was cold and dark, when I decided to cross the road towards the statue.
The road and pavement are at the same level, but stone blocks one metre plus long (and 30×30 and 15×15 sections) have been laid to prevent vehicles from mounting the pavement. You can see these in the street view daylight 360", but not in 50 shades of grey at night.
You only expect to climb up onto a pavement, not when stepping down from a pavement.
I tripped and had x-rays taken of my left arm, leg and ribs, but apparently I am indestructible.
Thank you to the man from the Ayuntamiento building with nativity scenes (belenes) and the Spanish couple with excellent English who helped me to stand up, and to the hospital and ambulance team.
