Church of Our Lady of Taur

The church is deeply linked to the martyrdom legend of Saint Sernin (Saint Saturnin), the city's first bishop. According to tradition, this was the spot where he died after being dragged through the streets by a bull — a story reflected in the church's name, with "Taur" meaning bull in Occitan. The site originated in the 5th century as a small pilgrimage chapel, later evolving into the current structure, which was built between the late 14th and early 15th centuries in the Southern Gothic style.

I'm sure it will be spectacular when it's finished.

An interesting church not far from the Capitole. It's quite ancient with old and faded painted wall decoration in a series of side chapels off the main body of the church. Open to the public it is a quiet place away from the hustle and bustle to sit and contemplate.

Very special style of church, interior is more interesting than it looks like! Highly recommend!

A beautiful and original church in the middle of crowdy Toulouse. Still showing its original paintings.

I can give only 2 stars. I was in Toulouse in February and tried to get inside for three days with no effect! The door was closed for visitors all the time without any information why. I was really disappointed. At least it looks nice form outside.

Beautiful decoration , lovely old church . Of course you should pop inside and look , they're not building lovely things like this any more It's clear that there are no earthquakes in this city ( all those high brick buildings ! )
