Such a beauty place to visit but very packed with tourists at times. There is police everywhere as part of a special effort to open Salvador up to the international tourism scene. I would recommend visiting this neighborhood during the day and not eating in the main squares as everything overpriced and quality reduced. Such a photogenic place and a wonderful colorful atmosphere.

Very nice, humble building. Interesting information even without the guide. I didn't visit during a service so I don't know what that would be like.

I had expected much more. Nevertheless, it is one of the most important historical sights in Salvador. No one should skip a visit to this sight. It has a huge historical meaning and diving into its history is recommended. The church has several boards where the history is explained.

The Church is an 18th-century Roman Catholic church in Salvador. Construction of the church took almost 100 years. Do not miss this area during your stroll in Pelouriño

Beautiful, simple but authentic church with interesting history. The exhibition inside is one of the few places we've been where there is everything in english, definitely a recommendation!

A spetacular cultural experience The ancient church of slaves in Salvador during the colonial period of Brazil. Here the masses are performed in a Catholic fashion but with a strong emphasis on music. Usually the traditional Catholic songs are played to African drums beat I came into the church when someone was being baptised and I could live a unique experience. Though I knew all the songs, the music was still full of incredibly energy. It was amazing to see old and young people all dancing and singing together to drums rhythm.

This church was built by slaves so could have a place to worship as they were barred from the other churches. It is a beautiful church and a must see!
