Get to know a city through film: Rome edition - SilverKris

"A picturesque church used as one of several well-loved locations in a contemporary art film; its presence helps frame the movie's meditation on beauty and nostalgia while contributing to a portrait of modern Rome layered over historic sites." - Levin Tan

Santa Maria del Priorato is the final resting-place of the Venetian print-maker and architect Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720-78), who designed the church. Piranesi designed the quirky church, which stands on the Aventine hill, for the Order of the Knights of Malta. Alas, it was the only building he designed.

Stunning monument of history, architecture and culture. Inside the church you are going to find splendid tombs of Grand Masters and Grand Priors of the Order of the Hospital of Saint John of Jerusalem better known as the Order of Malta nowadays. This is another must see place at Rome.

It's a sweet church, with a lovely park at side. But if you, like me, are trying to get an amazing view from the keyhole, it is not here, not inside this church. Go down the street a little bit, the place named Il Buco della serratura is actually what you're looking for. Normally, it will a line of people waiting there.

No public access. You will only get in as part of a guided tour. Search online for available ones. They might be pricey, but it's really well worth it. Bramante's only church in Rome.
