Saint George Church is truly the highlight of Lalibela’s rock-hewn churches, and seeing it in person was just awe-inspiring. The way it’s carved perfectly into the rock in the shape of a cross is almost hard to believe. I was lucky to visit when it wasn’t too crowded, which made the experience even more special—calm, peaceful, and almost surreal ⛪️ it’s so much worth a visit!

Stunning. The most iconic of the Lalībela churches. I was fortunate enough to be here for a Sunday morning service which was amazing to experience. As a bonus there were fewer people asking for food or money compared to the day before.

🚨BE WARY of those Ethiopians on the hill top with a hut, next to St George. They tried to ask my friends pay for camera fee, which was already paid when we bought the entrance ticket. Bloody greedy people. Make sure your ticket indicates camera fee has been paid if you are bringing a camera (mobile phone camera not required to be paid) Otherwise this church is the most popular of all churches as it is really pretty! It's a small climb to enter and exit the church.

One of the most stunning places, I was blessed to visit. The rich History, the people, the inside sacred worshipping areas were something that one can only feel. The Priests are kind, the people are kind. This should be one of the wanders pf the world.

Truly one of my favorite church among eleven . Still my mind can’t believe that it was a solid rock and just a few centuries ago , people of Ethiopia cut off the rock a full size church . Unbelievable!! Don’t be lazy and visit a town of Lalibela and its mind blowing churches . But the way a ticket cost is two thousand five hundred birr and it valid for five days . Basically you have a five full days to enjoy and dive into unique Ethiopian culture . Here is a two big celebrations in Lalibela during a year , first is Fasika (Easter) and another one Christmas 🎄

The most unusual of the eleven Rock-Hewn churches in Lalibela. A stunning church including the surrounding space that was carved downwards from volcanic rock. Need to see to appreciate this amazing architecture. The Church of St. George was constructed under the reign of King Lalibela in the 12th century. Must see

The most visually impressive of the Lalibela churches from the outside, due to its Greek cross form. Inside there is not much to see in this small structure. The approach, through a narrow trench, is unique. The symbolism of the church built to illustrate Noah's Ark is seen from the outside. As an added bonus, wildlife can be spotted here, such as monkeys, vultures, lizards, and eagles.
