Stepping into church of society of Jesus was a deeply moving experience—truly the most beautiful sacred place I have ever seen in my life. The moment I walked through its doors, I felt a powerful sense of peace and awe. Its age and history seem to whisper stories from centuries past, echoing the soul of Quito’s rich culture and spiritual heritage. The architecture is nothing short of divine—ornate, timeless, and filled with meaning in every detail. Nestled in the heart of Quito’s historic district, the church feels like a sacred jewel surrounded by the rhythms of everyday life. It’s not just a place to visit—it’s a place to feel, reflect, and connect. A must-see for anyone seeking beauty, history, or a touch of the divine.

Absolutely a must visit if you're in Quito. It really is one of the most beautiful interior churches you'll ever visit. And the amount of gold leaf on every surface is blinding - it's like Midas himself lived here for 100 years. In addition, during the weekend there are street vendors outside selling variety of handicrafts. It's very lively.

It's a beautiful place to both visit and take a little time out to reflect with God. Respect the latter, especially if other visitors are doing so. The amount of gold covering the walls is staggering. I won't compare this place to European churches other than it's equally as beautiful but for other reasons.

The crown jewel de la ciudad. The most iconic building in the UNESCO city, if you think Iglesia San Francisco is the king of Quito, then Iglesia Compana de Jesus is a grandpa to the king. Ancient and spectacular.

One of the most beautiful churches you'll visit, ever. Everywhere is full of decorations and details (Barroco Style). Correctly called, The Golden Church (La Iglesia de Oro). We spent like half a day there. Suggestion, use the local guide inside the church so you get all the information. Also, pay for the full experience. You'll view the interior plus you'll have access to the roof and crypts. Prices are really affordable for all you'll be able to experience.

For 160 years, Italian Jesuit brothers were devoted to building this incomparable church. Its architecture is in the Spanish baroque style. Most of the interior is covered in 23 karat gold leaf, including a golden dome. Our local guide shared that this historic church is filled with 56 sculptures and 44 paintings. One of the most famous paintings, El Inferno, is by the church entrance. It depicts the 25 deadly sins and how Lucifer will punish sinners at the last judgment. The church hosts special events in addition to weekly services. They were setting up for an evening concert when we visited. The church's exterior is made of volcanic gray stone. It's worth a second visit to return and see the church lit up in the evening.

The Church of the Society of Jesus (Iglesia de la Compañía de Jesús) is a historic church located in Quito, Ecuador, built by the Jesuits in the 16th century. Construction began in 1605 and was completed in 1765. A prime example of Baroque architecture, the church is particularly renowned for its gold-leafed interior. Located in the historic center of Quito, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it reflects the influence of Jesuit missions in Latin America.

The church is amazing, as always! However, I've noticed that the guides can be quite strict, even in situations where it doesn't make sense, like taking pictures. I wasn't disturbing anyone or being disrespectful, and yet a guide made a rude comment. I deeply respect the culture and heritage, but instead of enjoying the experience, we end up stressed. This isn't the first time it's happened to me. I hope the guides could be kinder and more understanding. We like to go and visit supporting the church's cause. I just want to feel welcome and enjoy my visits without disappointment.
