Church of the Transfiguration in Lviv

One of the many beautiful churches near the city center of Lviv!!! The catacombs are downstairs and worth the trip to go downstairs and take a look. Orthodox churches as I recall, did not have benches to sit on. Just beautiful. Though Latin Church is still my favorite.

This temple is almost hidden on maps and even in tourist guides. Despite that, it's really stunning with the classic orthodox pomp and flare. Recommended.

One of many shrines in the Lviv Old Town. Christian Church of greek-catholic denomination. A must see in Lviv, in my opinion :)

Is located in the city's Old Town, just north of the Rynok Square (market square) in Lviv, Ukraine. Originally built as the Roman Catholic church of the Holy Trinity of the Trinitarian Order, between 1703 and 1731, in the style of French classicism but with a Baroque interior. In 1783, the monastery was abolished by the Holy Roman Emperor Joseph II and the church was used as a library of the Lviv University, until it was destroyed by Austrian artillery during the Spring of Nations in 1848. The ruins of the church were rebuilt by the Greek Catholic Church, and most of the original design was kept.

There is an underground chapel and it is very mysterious. You need to15 UAH.

One of many stunning churches in the old part of the city. This Greek-Catholic church is a good example of eastern spirituality and iconography.
