Firstly the restaurant is beautifully done. Love the colors and small little pieces from India and showcasing the culture. Quite refreshing Coming to the food, most of the dishes were outstanding however some were a complete misses Definitely order 1) Dal Makhani 2) Chilli mushroom 🌶️ 3) Chicken Chettinad Misses 1) masala coke (The taste was overpowering come, needs more balancing) 2) Butter Paneer - The gravy could be smoother Conclusion: The restaurant is definitely on the more expensive side however the taste is quite authentic to the most dishes. Would definitely recommend a visit!! Would definitely recommend

Google
Loved the pani puri and the chole bhature so good. Also the waitress was really nice as well attending to our needs every few minutes. Mango lassi was nice but didn’t like the milk tea.

Google
Hair baked into the naan, small portion size, low value. All that said the sauce is tasty! 2/10, won’t order again. (Ordered via Wolt)

I ordered a salad online and got spoiled cucumbers. Rest of food was cold. I don’t recommend

Absolutely delicious food with polite and quick service! Very good serving sizes especially for the price! Would highly recommend! Also has the option to sit outside in the warmer weather.

Google
It’s in a very nice neighborhood and super easy to navigate to , they offer both indoor and outdoor sitting. The staff is nice and friendly and welcome you warmly , you can get a hands on menu or scan a barcode on the table for the menu. The food and drinks here are so so good , however my butter chicken was a bit over salty and that’s why I took one star away, other than that everything went great ! Will definitely visit again.

I ordered chicken chettinad from this restaurant. I had lot of chicken dishes from berlin indian restaurants. If you are craving for indian chicken gravy in Berlin chicken chettinad from this restaurant will never make you sad. Best ever dish I have in Berlin. Special thanks to chef. Keep same taste.

Google
super good Indian restaurant!! At the beginning I was a bit disappointed because they didn't have the chicken Tikka masala (which is my go-to dish at an Indian restaurant). So we ordered the butter chicken, a lamb and another chicken and it was all so tasty! We also had their take on a margarita and it was super good and different, really recommended!

Yelp
Me and 4 friends decided to check Chutnify out with all the good reviews and I agree with why it's so highly rated! Great food, cozy atmosphere and the hands down best service I ever received (heart touching story down below) We split a bunch of curries and some entrées between all of us. The lamb and fish were our favorites. One of my friends can't handle spicy foods so the kitchen altered some orders for her. The best part was our server who caught up with us to give me my bag I forgot. He biked in the heavy rain and found us 3 blocks away! How he found us I have no idea but I was so touched by his act of kindness. If you want bomb Indian food served by a man with a heart of pure gold (and handsome to boot) look no further Chutnify away!

Yelp
Chutnify cuisine is based on Southern Indian. What stood out the most to me was the samosa. It was so delicious and uniquely made. If I knew the samosa was going to be that good, then I would have order a few as my main meal instead.

Yelp
Craving Indian food this place seemed to be popular spot among the community so I figured I give it a venture too and it hit right notes quite well. I got the classic masala with basmati rice and chappati, and the mango lassi of course. The spice level was great, it was for flavor and not to burn your mouth off. My only regret was the chai tea since it just tasted really odd, and not like the usual chai teas I had at other authentic indian restaurants. The service was fast, and the ambience fun which was cool. The prices were about average so there was no surprise there, just wish they kinda gave you more food and drink.

Yelp
Delicious! This is a wonderful place to have South Indian food - know the difference in thurs region of food before insisting it's not authentic or up to par. We ordered the Veggie Thali, Plain Dosa, Medu Vada & Chai. Loved all the flavors which brought my family back to India! The Chai and the Channa had a tad too much cardamom flavor for my taste but nonetheless good. Friendly staff. No reservations needed and we sat outside for a lovely meal.

Yelp
I received several recommendations to check out this place, must say I am highly disappointed. The menu is impressive and the variety of food they offer is very good. Disappointment is their price and portion they offer with it. We paid 5.50 Euros for Bombay BHEL which hardly came with 10 spoons of portion. The taste of bhel was nice though. But with the price we paid, we've expected more. Next my husband ordered Veg Thali (Gluton free) which was around 12 Euros. The thali came with a roti (I still wonder if that was Gluton free), small portion of rice and various chutneys and veg curry. Again I will say, the variety they offer is good but portion was too less to fill one person's stomach. I had chicken Dosa worth 13.20 Euros aprx. I expected Dosa with minced chicken filling, sambhar and coconut chutney. They served me one plan Dosa, chicken curry, very small portion of coconut chutney, green and sweet chutney. For this price the portion was far too less. Chicken curry was not special, I enjoyed the green hot chutney and sweet chutney. The service at this place is slow and you have to wait long to get your order served. I had high expectations with this place. But after my first experience I don't think I'm going back again.

Yelp
Loved this spot! I came across Chutnify on several food blogs and knew I had to make a spot when I came to Berlin. The space is very cute and I liked the indian fusion menu they had. Our service was awesome and we loved our server from San Diego! We ordered plenty of appetizers including the bhelpuri, pani puri, chili paneer, and samosa chaat. The chili paneer was the most westernized thing we ordered but I was a big fan! I loved the sweet, spicy sauce it was served in. The bhelpuri was another great hit and it had pomegranate arils in it. The samosa chaat and pani puri were solid apps as well. We also had a dosa, chicken curry and cauliflower rice which were a solid end to our meal. The dosa was perfectly paper thin and I enjoyed the interesting taste of the cauliflower rice. Overall, I highly recommend coming here if you like Indian food. Don't expect authentic food but you can definitely expect a delicious meal!

Yelp
It is way too expensive. They don't do anything different to all the other great Indian places in Berlin however you pay much more. My food was much too spicy even though it didn't say so in the menu. The mango lassi is only sugar. I can mit recommend it!

Yelp
Usually I try to avoid Indian food in Berlin as it's truly underrepresented and simply not good. This place is really different though. They serve South Indian street style food which is made only with fresh ingredients. They also avoid using artificial additions and make all the sauces on their own. Their food causes an explosion of tastes in your mouth - after the first bite of whatever you order you'll just go WOW! There are fastest that you never had on your mouth before. And all the dishes we tried really have some unique and special taste. Be aware though that most dishes are at least a bit spicy. Service seems to be a bit over challenged by the crowd but tried their best. The interior is outstanding. Make sure to book a table in advance and bring cash. No card payment accepted.

Yelp
Fantastic dinner on the patio - plenty of outdoor seating for the warm summer months. Really good service. Food is on the spicier side, but the waitress was happy to ask the kitchen to tone the spice level down to suit my friend's taste who doesn't take spice. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

Yelp
Being a typical south Indian I was bitterly disappointed with the food. The only thing with I Thought was authentic was the Classic Masala Dosa. But the so called chutney was just basically coconut and had no real flavor. The dal was Completely bland. The Mysore dosa was completely cold with only a red colored paste with no taste whatsoever. But on the other hand the sambhar was good and authentic. Go here only to eat the Classic masala dosa and do not recommend this place to a person who lived in south India.

Akash U.

Yelp
Quite impressed with the food. Been there a few times now and never been disappointed. The hotness level was just appropriate - not too mild, not too hot. Dosa is my fave food from South India. Mostly tried the run of the mill masala dosas at Chutnify. The wrap itself could be better but the filling was perfect. The sambhar (lentil soup served with Dosa) was absolutely spot on. I am taking down one star because of the platter I tried last time - a bowl of rice with a couple of very tiny portions of curries. At around 12 euros, pretty low on the value for money quotient.

Yelp
I always miss South Indian food, but not this one. The Massala Dosa took an hour to prepare... And it was relatively small, the filing was not spiced at all and was tasteless. And all in all for quite a lot of money, almost ten Euro, it's even not filling enough so I had the feeling I needed another one. Service was miserable. So this is not the way I missed it. Pity, it's very close to my home. But no.

Yelp
FOOD: was average if not disappointing. PRICES: Very high! We paid 25€/person for a meal with a lassi, a lemonade und a shared appetizer. SERVICE: below average. We ordered the trial plate and weren't explained what we were eating. Most disappointingly 30% of the trial plate were things we had already eaten as our appetizers. The wait staff walked around chaotically and always seemed in a rush. Poor ambience for a dinner. CONCLUSION: Disappointing and overpriced. 90% of all other indian restaurants we've been to in the Berlin area had a whole lot more to offer at lower prices.
google avatar

Mohammed G.

Yelp
Miles away better than 95% of Berlin's indian restaurants. Authentic taste and spices are not watered down. Prices are a bit expensive compared to portion size though. If you're going for the first time just get the Grand Thali, has a bit of everything!

Yelp
The idlis and dosas are perfect! Not many Indian restaurants in Berlin ( for that matter in Germany) serve food with the authentic recipe. This one does. The food is yummy and would go there again. However, the place is quite cramped up and reservations are only for 2.5 hrs. After that you may be thrown out, with food on your table or not! Not literally but you would be asked to leave after the time is over and that part is irritating. This is a streetfood style restaurant and people go there to hang out and not just have dinner and leave.
google avatar

Sandy H.

Yelp
Amazing food. I can't believe I waited so long to try this place. Don't wait. Eat there now. :) Also on Foodora. Order all of the appetizers with friends. The streetfood twist they have going on is modern, inventive and yet somehow traditional.

Yelp
The food has been good, though the spice level of the pork rice bowl has been quite varied. One time totally mild and the next my whole head was sweating. The seating is quite cramped. They seem to have forgotten that a person takes up more room than a chair does. And the coat racks on the walls by the tables...well, who wants a sleeve in their raita. The coconut chutney is tasty. The service is friendly. The masala chai is good and the mango lassi is tasty. But they only allow 2 hrs for a reservation, so don't expect to have a lingering post-prandial conversation, but you wouldn't want to. The seating is cramped and it's loud in there. Went there again yesterday and the menu has expanded. Service friendly but reallllly slow. But as I said, the food is good.

Yelp
THE place in Berlin for authentic south Indian food. Service is great, food comes fast and is always delicious. Prices are quite high but it is worth it. Great for vegans and celiacs.
google avatar

Natalie C.

Yelp
Food quality is so and so, but the price is impressively... high. Appetizer for 6,90€ came with a small portion, and the main dish is also a bit less than what you expect to get in other Indian restaurants (12,80€). I wouldn't go there next time and neither would I recommend it.

Yelp
Yummy desi food with authentic ambience, oh my can't forget Kishore Kumar songs, and great hospitality. Go if you want Indian food if you miss home

Yelp
Awesome space and great food. For Americans visiting Berlin, this was our first time having Indian food in the city. Southern Indian food is something I especially enjoy, and Chutnify didn't disappoint. I had an excellent cocktail, we shared an appetizer, and each got a dosa. Flavors were on point. I really appreciated how the menu is clearly marked veg, vegan, etc., and the staff was really cool, too!

Yelp
The food is decent but it's prices aren't really reflective of the quality. The ambiance is definitely trendier than the average restaurant in the area, but it's not enough to merit the price given that you can find equally good Indian food if you walk a few blocks in any direction. When we ordered our food the server asked "would you like bread or rice with your dish?" And then when it game time to pay it was made clear that this was at an additional cost, but not before that point. This would have been fine had we been made aware that is was an extra when we ordered, but the it was presented to us in a way that led us all (party of 4) to believe that it came with the meal. I had been here a few times before and really enjoyed it, it's one of the few places in Berlin where the spicey food is genuinely hot, the ambiance remains above average, but I have to say after my mediocre last visit I think it will be a whole before I give this place another try.

Gluten F.

Yelp
This is a very unique restaurant for many of us because Dhosa and Idli aren't as popular as Naan bread. So I'm really glad to see a restaurant with Dhosa on its menu. I have to say that the service varies a lot. Sometimes there's a guy who grumpily puts stuff on your table and walks away. If you're lucky you get a nice waitress who looks at you while taking your orders. The restaurant is small, so you get an odd look from their staff if you're there without a reservation - as if they're not happy that you came. I would still go there though because the food is good and they have some nice gluten free options.

Yelp
The dosas were uninspired and the coconut curry bowl was actually quite bad. Service was pretty good but overall I wouldn't suggest this place to anybody. Not sure Berlin has any reasonable Indian food so if you're desperate you could go here.

Yelp
Best Indian in Berlin!! Goan Dosa is super tasty & the owners / staff are super friendly. Customer service does exist outside of the States! Haha

Yelp
I read about this place in a blog and realised it was just around the corner from me. Lunchtime options are great - delicious thali's and dosa's. I had the meat thali with the chillifer plus a fresh ginger and lemon tea -- I was thoroughly satisfied and only spent 10 euros. As in all of Germany, nothing is spicy enough but the chillifer gives a great kick to the meal. All tasted fresh and flavoursome. Definitely will be back! :)

Yelp
First of all I have to say: the food is really extraordinary and fantastic! All my criticism refers to the processes. The restaurant is overwhelmed when all tables are busy. I had to wait all in all 30 minutes to be seated, which is ok without reservation. Not to ask me, if I would like something to drink, while I'm waiting, is not ok. When I approached the (indeed very friendly but overwhelmed) waitress, I was told she'd come back to me, when SHE has the time. This was then 20 minutes after my arrival, while I was waiting right in front of the bar. My drink came another 10 minutes later. This is not a nice way of being welcomed. In general there seems to be a problem serving drinks within a decent time. Many people had their food served first. Another problem I see: you cannot reserve for 2 people, because the restaurant wants to avoid the risk, that two people would occupy a big table. I understand their point, but as a customer, this is not acceptable. Especially being aware of the waiting time now, one might choose to go somewhere else instead. I hope, they find solutions, because the food was so nice, I'd love to come back.

Vikarm B.

Yelp
One of the top Indian restaurants in Berlin. Do try Dosa varieties and Chicken Biryani. On week end this place is always crowded so do visit early or have reservation. Portions are big and so do price.
google avatar

Simone S.

Yelp
This place is just way above any other indian place in Berlin full stop. This is not the Pakistani food that is regularly served to people as Indian food in supposedly "Indian" restaurants all over the city. The restaurant surely needs a little bit or re organization and doesn't seem to have a good system in place but they'll probably develop it over time. Honestly who cares? The food is great, the dosas are just awesome, the price is appropriate for the quality of the food. If you like real Indian food do yourself a favor and come eat here.

Surya S.

Yelp
Intro: I'm very happy that we have a good dosa place at walking distance. When Chutnify started I was very happy as I could eat my childhood dosa staple for an affordable price. They were fairly fast for me and we had two dosas - kheema mutter - trying this for the first time as traditionally for the South Indians. dosa is a vegetarian dish. This was my (non-Indian) partners dish so I could not eat more of it. He LOVED it, the kheema was well sauteed with herbs and spices and the chutneys were fantastic. I had a kadala dosa (chola dosa). This is essentially a crispy dosa with chickpea curry. You're supposed to dip the dosa in the chickpeas and eat them. Again, there was the balance of spices that I experienced when growing up in Kerala in my grandmas kitchen. Chutneys: Well, with a name like chutnify you need to review the chutneys as well. The mint/coriander one was cooling in the mouth, the coconut one was sweet (not sugary sweet) and savoury at the same time, the chilly chutney was H-O-T. Non-Indians, stay away from this or have a lot of yogurt or milk ready before you try this. My favourite as the pineapple chutney - and I'm someone who hates pineapples but the sweetness of the pinapple mixed with the spicy tangeriness of the sauce was amazing. Now, a comment on the service given my fellow foodies have their complaints about it: Yes, they did have some growing plains but I'm glad to see that they have been course correcting themselves and providing better and faster service each time we go there. And people who complain about the seating have not been to many Berlin, Asian restaurants where space is even more at a premium. Seating: they have non-reserved seating in the sidewalk, but better to reserve for a large group. I will go again, and have been recommending the place to my Indian/vegan friends as well.

Mike C.

Yelp
Lots of vegan options and the dosas are sooo good! We got the bhel appetizer a meysor and a pumpkin dosa. Good service and a nice atmosphere.

Yelp
I was afraid to go because of the name: "Chutnify"? ...What? ...Oh no - not more trendy American, hipster, overrated nonsense that I can't risk wasting money and time on... But, I was proven wrong! I went there with a friend and actually liked it. It had really great flavour - though my friend who cannot handle too much spiciness ordered something very spicy without knowing it, because it was not stated/marked on the menu as "spicy/scharf"- Hello there, this is Germany! However, I loved the spiciness - finally - SPICINESS in Germany!! So we shared our plates as mine was not as spicy as hers. Anyway, we both enjoyed the flavourful and unique food. It reminded me a bit of what my Bangladeshi friend back in New york used to cook for me. We had Dosas which came with plentiful chutneys, salad and two types of out-of-this-world dahl! They could step up the dosa batter a bit, but it was still pretty yummy with the accompanying well prepared ingredients and all five tastes being represented. We had a very unique, but with traditional flavours, papadum appetiser - very light, tasty and plenty! We had a spiced lemonade which was delicious and refreshing. It was a "real" restaurant experience with a lovely peanut salad (complimentary) to snack on as you go over the menu. I think they did pretty good with the quality control of the food being that it is such a busy place. Everything was very fresh and of good quality. Portions sizes are well suited for hungry people. The service is attentive without being overbearing and the servers are pleasant. The seating outside is nice, but casual - perfect for lunch on a sunny day. Prices are average for Berlin - Prenzlauer Berg.I will certainly be going back!

Barry B.

Yelp
The first time we went we had a shared platter for 15 euros which was really decent. Although we only received one dosa (instead of the 2 indicated on the menu), they were happy to go beyond what was required and make it vegan for us. This time we went they seem to have changed the menu slightly and now a shared veg platter is 24 euros... Disappointing. We ordered some other dishes instead. The food was tasty but the portions are way too small for the price. We left feeling hungry...

Harry P.

Yelp
Not treated well - website says reservations only for 6+ Arrived early evening with 5 - told needed reservations even though most tables empty. We left after being made feel like we were at fault and unwelcome. We won't try again and cannot recommend others do either. Yelp has at least two other Indian restaurants that are highly rated and likely treat their customers better.

Josaiah C.

Yelp
Chutnify is amazing!! Authentic food, great ambience, super friendly staff, and a much needed addition to Berlin's foodscape ! Try the masala dosa.. You won't regret it!

Yelp
wow. where to begin....? upon arriving, and letting the greeter know that we had made a reservation, instead of saying hello or bringing us to our table, the first thing she said was that the table was double booked and that we had to leave at a certain time. nice welcome. in general, i got the impression, that the staff seemed annoyed rather than welcoming. the seating is pretty cramped, which basically means you have to shuffle your chair from side to side every time a customer comes, goes, wants to go to the toilet or the waiter wants to get past you. but all can be excused if the food is good. unfortunately this is where it seriously missed the mark. we had 2 dosas and a curry. the flavouring was uninspired and the sizes small. my tandoori chicken was dry and hard, the dhaal was runny and tasteless. the only thing we all agreed was tasty, was a tiny side of cucumber and tomatoes with lemon and coriander. this was also the only thing that tasted and seemed fresh, the only thing which had flavour. and if a cucumber side is the tastiest thing on the plate, you really need to rethink a few things..... we left very unsatisfied with what we had eaten, angry at having just spent 15€ for a bad experience and unbelievably confused as to why this place is featured on so many blogs as a recommendation.

Emma K.

Yelp
i've been here now 5 times as at first i really liked the food but the service has gone from bad to worse. the most recent visit it took ages to order and then the salad starter arrived before the drinks with one of its ingrediants missing, the salad was then taken away for the (forgotten?) pomegranate to be added but didnt reappear for another 15 minutes. the main course was not as good as the other times, the lentils tasted burnt and the other chutnys and sauces were really small portions. the place was really squashed, and the waitress didnt look towards the table or come over unless you got her attention. a really unrelaxing experience.
