Seeing a Beloved Slice of Southeast Asia Anew on an Oceania Cruise

"Today’s half-day excursion ferries cruisers out to Động Thiên Cung via junk boat. Tacky neon lighting aside, the cave looks like something out of Goonies: Its soaring caverns are 10 blessed degrees cooler than outside and the rock formations are pure drama."

Had such a memorable time on this boat. So modern, clean, and a beautiful boat. Staff were lovely. Let them know if you are there for an occasion as they went above and beyond. It was my birthday and they decorated the table and gave me a cake which was really sweet. Food was fantastic with loads of options. We did 2 day 1 night, it’s more like 24 hours and the activities are quite rushed, but this is the same on all boats doing Ha Long Bay.

The cave is amazingly beautiful. It's like a work of art, a craft in a dark. But the lights are great, providing a calm and mysterious feeling while entering the door. Yes, you need to hike using stairs a bit. And don't forget to wear comfy shoes due to some of the stairs might be slippery. There are photography services inside that will offers you a photo service at a reasonable price. Beautiful.

The ferry left exactly at 8am. No one tried to hustle us - the ticket counter is a little hidden though, see pictures. Trip took circa 1 hour. Beautiful scenery. The boat is old and has a snack bar and squat toilet neither of which I would recommend using but at least the WC is free so better than paying for the same thing. Paid 140 for 2 people and a bike (80 for bike and 1 person + 60 for 1 pedestrian).

We had such an amazing experience with Peony Cruises. The food was delicious and they even cooked costume food for gluten free diet! You also have happy hour. The crew is very professional specially Huie and Cherry who made us a wonderful stay on the cruise for our honeymoon :) The view is just stunning. The rooms look new and are very clean.

The room is amazing given the fact it's on a boat and very comfortable. The main problem on this ship is the food. The meals are tasteless and the worse I had in Vietnam. I don't really get why there are trying to do some fancy plates if they have no taste at all maybe they do it to please most people but it's disappointing. Another thing is that everything is on the clock so there is little time off. The prices are also a little high for drinks.

We had a great time on this cruise. We used a travel agent, so we knew exactly what to expect. Still, we were probably more impressed than expected. Things are very scheduled, so getting a cocktail (or a few extra) can be difficult. My wife and I brought our own bottle of vodka to enjoy in our cabin, so we thankfully never felt it was an issue for our honeymoon cruise. Though it’s not necessary, we just got married! Food was good. Don’t expect it to blow you away, but as solid standard Vietnamese as you’ll find. We really enjoyed making our own spring rolls which came out delicious. I’ve seen some questionable reviews on these cruises, and yes they are a bit touristy, tacky, and overpopulating the bays. But it really is a wonderful time with some of the better views you’ll ever see in your life. Especially the sunsets. If you want something romantic, I very much recommend adding it to the itinerary. Lastly, two nights made the travel more worthwhile in my opinion. The bussing back and forth and ferry to the boat isn’t too fun. Have a great time and enjoy!

Precise time coordination, everything is timed almost like a factory... two days sailing and one night quite satisfy the experience for us, an enjoyable experience, very kind and sympathetic staff, elaborate food dishes and served on well-thought-out and spectacular plates, if it's not cloudy a spectacular sunset and sunrise, a room for three adults is relatively small But reasonable, don't build on wifi or television, overall highly recommended because of the staff, the very friendly and smiling people and of course the View

Perfect 3 day tour with Peony Cruises. The room was beautiful and clean, food was also delicious and the staff is really nice. The happy hour on the top floor with the jacuzzi was the best time of the day. Really relaxing after a Fansipan hike for example. I think its the best to book a 3 days tour. Still sad that we had to leave.
