Cidade das Artes

The place is nice although we were a bit cold sitting outside for Jurassic safari 2. We were also mislead about the spoken portion and expected and exposition but instead we got a theater show that features only Portuguese speaking. Dont know if i would recommend going here.

It have a very nice theater, the biggest lego city scale model of Rio de Janeiro, a library and a nice Cafe restaurant.

An astonishing public apparatus, that is badly underutilized, not very central and costed tons of public money to build, but despite that, it's a gorgeous place for the arts to thrive, with the most beautiful and modern concert hall in the city. This place is equiped with several rehearsal rooms, theaters, concert halls and art installations. This is the kind of place that should be spread all over the city, working as part of a large cultural and educational system, but instead of that, since we're in Brazil, this place had a huge role in money laundry and big contracts with construction companies. This is being written in 2019, and everything is still pretty neat and tidy. I just hope that in the future it stays like this, with the governors giving Cidade das Artes the attention and budget that it needs to actually work as this magnificent apparatus that was promised to be, so that the arts can actually thrive as initially promised.

As the new home of the Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira (Brazilian Symphony Orchestra) and a main center for music, the Cidade das Artes is the largest modern concert hall in South America, with 1,780 seats. The complex spans approximately 90 thousand square metres and also features a chamber music hall, three theatres, and 12 rehearsal rooms. The terrace offers panoramic views of the neighbourhood of Barra da Tijuca. The building was designed by the French architect Christian de Portzamparc and construction was funded by the city of Rio de Janeiro.

This theatre and music hall is a really different place in the city. Huge, with contemporary architecture, you'll not find a place like this in Rio. The theatre is beautiful and modern. But all the distances are far and it's a little isolated. There's parking area (the price is not too high) but you can get there by bus or BRT if you stop on Alvorada Terminal Station (you will wall almost the same as the parking area to reach the building.

This place is spectacular. Absolutely incredible spaces.

Rio Webfest event venue since 2016. It's an amazing location for all kinds of event.

Big place with a great spectacle! Little bit difficult to manage if you don’t know the place and need an Uber.
