Cima Rosa Boutique Bed & Breakfast

"Why did this hotel catch your attention? What's the vibe? As you truck your luggage through the courtyard of this 15th-century palazzo, you’ll understand the Cima Rosa spirit: Old roses scramble up brick walls and age-worn marble carvings peek out through fragrant faux-jasmine. Inside, an exquisite pastel palette mirrors the colors visible through the front windows, which overlook the Grand Canal. Five rooms and suites, personalized service, and great comfort complete the picture. What's the backstory? Cima Rosa is the creation of American Brittany Hymore and her Venetian architect husband Daniele Vallot, whose mix of classic furnishings, beautiful shades, and luxurious comforts set the tone of the five-suite B&B. Tell us all about the accommodations. Any tips on what to book? There’s so much to love about Cima Rosa’s rooms, from the restful, Venetian colors to the mingling of modern touches with antiques. Go for one of the three Grand Canal–facing rooms, where light glows off the water. Three airy self-catering apartments – two in the Dorsodoro district, one in San Marco – complete the Cima Rosa offer. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi? Free wi-fi; good quality. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at? Daily continental breakfast takes over a large, low-ceilinged living room where the Grand Canal laps just outside the windows. Everything is simple and fresh; eggs can be scrambled or made into an omelette. There’s also an area where guests can make themselves tea or coffee. And the service? Owner Brittany and her staff are charming and knowledgeable; you really will feel like you’re staying with friends. Hymore has even created her own guide to the city featuring excellent restaurant recommendations. What type of travelers will you find here? This is a grown-up kind of place for travelers who love Venice and know it sufficiently well not to mind the residential area that's far from most of the city's main sights. What about the neighborhood? Does the hotel fit in, make itself part of the scene? Santa Croce is quiet, charming, and homely. You’re close to the train station here, although you’d never know it. And it’s a bridge-free walk to the San Stae vaporetto stop. Is there anything you'd change? One room has a bathroom across the hall; it’s private, but some guests might find it awkward. Bottom line: Worth it? Why? This place is so warm, you’ll be planning your next stay before you leave." - Anne Hanley

Hard to know where to start with all of the good things I want to say about this Bed and Breakfast! I loved the location... The location within the neighborhood is a little off of the beaten path, so while it was convenient, it wasn't overrun with tourists. The grounds and common areas of the B&B are charming and comfortable. Our room was very clean and the linens were super soft. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. Both Dora and Melody at the front desk were friendly and helpful. This was our first trip to Venice, and we couldn't have asked for more!

Wonderful water access; excellent location, in very good neighborhood. Entire property romantically idealistic, from scented courtyard to charming timber-beamed interior -- with windows opening to canal. Room also met every mark, from charm, to cleanliness, including conveniences. Breakfast exceeded all expected norms. The owner, Brittany, and her team are gracious and show kindness at every turn. I would consider myself exacting; in Cima Rosa, Venice, I could not ask for more, sincerely!

Cima Rosa is in an old palazzo on the Grand Canal close to the San Stae vaporetto stop. It has a beautiful courtyard which is lit with candles at night, a large sitting room-cum-breakfast room overlooking the canal with useful art and history books. The six rooms are in familiar Farrow & Ball colours and are beautifully furnished with antiques sourced from all over Italy; the bathrooms are spacious and modern. We book one of the suites; they are very large rooms with a comfy sofa, a dining table and views over the Grand Canal. Lots of thoughtful little touches and everything of the highest quality. The breakfasts offer a lot of choice and are delicious, the staff are charming and helpful and the owner delightful and a fount of knowledge. You have your own key to the front gate and come and go as you please; there is a fridge in the breakfast room where you can put your own wine and nibbles. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else!

Cima Rosa is beyond beautiful. Dora welcomed us to the lovely place with helpful hints and dinner reservations. Our room overlooked the canal and we could hear the water swishing at night. The breakfast room was homey and beautifully decorated, and the food was divine...homemade quiche, fluffy pancakes, along with meats and cheeses, yogurt, fruit, etc. They made our cappuccinos to order. Cima Rosa is in a quieter part of the town which we appreciated, yet it was close enough to walk to all areas of the island. I can't imagine a better place to stay in Venice. Thank you to all the staff for the perfect visit!

We had a wonderful stay at Cima Rosa! Truly a special and beautiful setting, and our Grand Canal-facing room was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, and everyone was so welcoming. Perfect location in a quieter area, but just steps from a vaporetto stop for easy access to all of Venice (and the airport as well). Staying here was a highlight of our trip!

We were visiting from LA and Cima Rosa is a wonderful bed and breakfast / small hotel set right on the Grand Canal. It's an old palace charmingly restored with traditional heart and some modern touches. It's a great location close to some lovely squares and restaurants but also with the benefit of feeling tranquil. The team here could not have looked after us any more. Thank you!!

We had a perfect stay at Cima Rosa. We loved the location directly on the Grand Canal but in the quiet Santa Croce neighborhood, very near a vaporetto stop. Our room, an Elegant Suite on the Grand Canal, was spacious and comfortable. But what really made our stay exceptional was the warmth and hospitality of the team, especially Dora and Melody. They helped us with many details, including making reservations for us at their well curated list of restaurants. We loved the neighborhood too and made a new discovery of the charming, very local Campo San Giacomo dell Orio. We visited during Carnevale, which was tremendous fun.

Very helpful staff who made us feel welcomed. Delicious home made breakfast. Property beautifully designed. Quiet, with a tranquil garden, but a very easy walk to the vaporetti at San Stae. A perfect place to stay from which to explore Venice.
