If you are looking for Gin Gin, then this is your Win Win!
Boasting over 100 gins, and accessed through the Oasia Hotel lobby, this specialist gin bar is ideal for gin newbies and connoisseurs alike.
They currently have a 5-6-7 happy hour here, where a gin+mixer goes for $5 at 5, $6 at 6 and $7 at 7. At the time of writing the happy hour gin was The Botanist, which is a remarkable multi-layered gin. Described by it's creators thus "22 hand-foraged local island botanicals delicately augment nine berries, barks, seeds & peels" - so it's not your typical well/house pour.
For smokers there is easy outside access as you can simply walk straight from the bar into the sidewalk surrounding Oasia itself, where there are conveniently located smoker's bins available for the durry munchers!
The interior is fairly clean, medium-sized with enough tables for a group get-together or work party, but it does fill up fairly fast post work with stressed workers looking to get a quick tipple on before heading home.
Behind the bar itself itself is an impressive collection of gins from all around the world, meticulously lined-up against crisp, clean glass.
There are some interesting snack options - I tried the gruyere mushrooms recently - and I'll bet my bottom dollar there is something on the menu that has truffle (or truffle oil) on it, in it, or made from it.
The service here is OK, and that's probably a solid reason why this isn't a 5, but there is a more compelling reason why this is more of a 3.5-4 star bar. The bar has a sterile feel to it, and this stems no doubt from the impeccable placement of everything (not a bad thing necessarily, and certainly not a complaint). However, this then lends itself to a lack of atmosphere, and it is why it is a great happy hour place, or even a great date starter - but wouldn't be a place where you spend the entire night.
