The 5 Best Hostels in Jerusalem (Updated 2025)

"Housed in an old movie theater, it has a lively, social atmosphere with lots of indoor and outdoor common space, group activities like yoga, and movie nights; the dorms are simple and clean with basic metal bunks (thin mattresses, no curtains) but have lights and plugs, and there are capsule and female-only dorm options — note there is an age cap (18–45) — and it’s conveniently located near the Midrachov, nightlife, and about a 15-minute walk to the Old City." - Matthew Kepnes

Great place! Rooms are nice and clean and the communal space is well equipped and inviting. I was worried at first because if previous reviews but seems like the place drastically improved and manage to improve significantly.

Looks like it intended to be a very good and comfortable hostel with a lot of peculiar ideas in design and internal atmosphere. And definitely it used to be so. But now it looks quite worn out and requires some renovation. However it's still worth staying.

The staff was nice as i called to ask if the hostle is availble. I allso been told that the ownership has changed and they try to work things out on a good way. The hostle designd nicely with a small and a little bit broken kitchen . The room was small clean, accept the bathroom , and i was cold at night despite the AC and the blanket. A big minus is that you hear the music from the bar behind the wall. Ear plugs workd for me. They charge 5Nis for towels and theres no towels for washing your hands or face in the rooms bathroom. Iv heard alot of doors shutting lowdly from the main hall . Located in city centre which is a plus.

This is by far the worst hostel I have ever stayed in. While the hostel probably cannot do much about the homeless and drug addicts hanging around the front door, the elevator is non-functional, so enjoy carrying your luggage two flights of stairs to the reception desk. The interior is filthy and probably hasn't been cleaned since the British left. The only shower, which also doubled as a toilet was full of crap (disgusting).

I was debating to stay here when I saw the reviews - BUT decided to give it a second chance because I stayed here in the past & loooved it So happy I did ! Very kind staff, pancakes in the morning, gives the fun young hostel vibes that I missed so much, good price, good location & movie night everyday This hostel is owned by awesome people with good hearts & I highly recommend giving them a chance to surprise you with the chance they did , would definitely come again

This place had reasonable prices and was in a good location next to weatern restaurants (for travelers). The staff were very friendly and Yaakov went above and beyond to make sure our stay was what was expected from a hostel. In all honesty, the reviews mentioning "migrant workers" are just baseless accusations, more than likely from a ignorant, entitled person that has lived a problem free life. Soap was present, (not sure what they were waffling on about there) and cleaning was done before check-in, during, and after. I also didn't see any guys trying to hit on "lone females", everyone was respectful. Maybe rejection forced her review. If you're familiar with hostels and how they operate, I highly recommend Cinema Hostel.

You have to be kidding. The volume of the music from the nightclub next door prohibits sleep The place is a dump, the room looks nothing like the photos on their website Three isn't even toilet paper in the bathroom...disgusting

Stayed in the pods which were great. Cosy little private spaces with locks, usb and plugs. Comfy bed and clean sheets. Staff were amazing and always happy to help. Generally people where friendly. Lots of different comunal spaces to sit and relax or socialise. Loved the roof top outdoor area and great location near Jaffa street. McDonalds down stairs. Downsides where things like the kitchen and shared bathroom. Lots of traffic in these areas meant it could be rather messy. Some showers didn't work and when I did go for a shower my clothes fell in the water. So I didn't go again. Having said this when I went to my next hostel and it went wrong I couldn't wait to get back to cinema hostel. It's a very friendly safe place to stay. Also they no longer offer breakfast but I'd been charged for it. Still awaiting the promised refund for that.
