On the Grid : Cinnamon Girl

"A Cinnamon Girl on Flatbush! Hooray! Their third location in Brooklyn is a welcome addition to this neighborhood. Not only does this cute shop offer bagels from Terrace, a bunch of fresh baked goods and gourmet food products, but they also offer a $1 cup of La Columbe coffee that can't be beat. You won't find any seating here, but the stand-up tables at the front window provide some great Flatbush Ave people-watching." - Erin Mercurio & Jak Horner

Overall rating: 4.2 I was going to feel bad for leaving a low review, but after reading the others - seems like it’s a common theme. Funny enough, I came here just to waste time. The nail salon next by told me to wait 20 minutes. The line was 20 min plus, with one person manning the cashier. After getting through the line, the items I wanted along with the backups were sold out. I don’t understand why they don’t mark it off on their board especially after how long it takes. She said you can tell by looking at the glass section, but there are no signs anywhere. She said she had a beans pocket left & since I waited so long, I got it. It was not good. I’m surprised because the items on the menu are very flavorful. So disappointed! And a waste. Please consider a sign of what you’re sold out in or clearer labels on what’s available.

Ordered two delicious vegan birthday cakes and everyone loved them and couldn’t get enough of how tasty they were. Friendly staff with great services and tasty pastries & cakes.

I go there often, they always have many options of vegan cakes and treats. Everything is always so good and the coffee as well!!

Google
TL;DR - Solid drip coffee, flaky beef patty, not too sweet BK blackout cake. Great little spot for coffee, savory baked good, pastries and cakes. SERVICE: Very welcoming staff, they took the time to go over everything they had and even went into specific dietary items like 'these are vegan and those are gluten free', etc. FOOD: I tried their beef patty, because they were out of their curry one. The patty was flaky, they warmed it up for me and it was still warm when I got back home (15 mins later). They have plenty of freshly made baked goods and cakes, tried a slice of their BK blackout and I was shocked at how moist and not too sweet it was. If you get the ratio of chocolate frosting to cake bite, it's heavenly and velvety - perfectly paired w/a sip of their drip coffee. ATMOSPHERE: Very welcoming vibes from the staff to the place itself. The decor makes you feel like you pulled up to a general store in a small town on a road trip. Do yourself a favor and go support local businesses like this one, whether you live here or just in the neighborhood.

Google
I love this place and their selection of hot food and pastries. I see a lot of negative reviews about their coffee but I got an iced vanilla coffee today and thought it was delicious. I also love their curated selection of groceries. The people who work here are super nice and it’s a lovely, quiet, peaceful spot. Don’t go here if you’re expecting it to be like a fast food coffee place

Google
I’ve been coming to cinnamon girl for a few years. It’s a great neighborhood staple with pretty great selection of pastries. I especially love their quiche and the breakfast empanadas are also pretty good. I gotta give them three stars though, echoing what others have said—the coffee is not good. Knowing that, I opted for an iced chai today and it was literally a cup of milk with some cinnamon on it. Thankfully after asking the barista to add more tea, she did, but it didn’t help much. Cinnamon girl I love you but please make stronger chai and better coffee 🥲

Google
I went in to buy a wine, it was my first time inside the shop, I thought it was a cute place. I get to the register and the lady asks me for my id. I give it to her and as I stand there waiting for her to give it back to me IN MY HAND .. she places my ID on the counter for me to pick up instead. I’m not here for the micro aggression and I believe she was trying to play a power move. It’s common courtesy to give someone their possessions in their hand.

Google
I can’t lie, I absolutely love cinnamon girl. I live close by, come numerous times a week and adore this place. Not just for groceries, but their pastry options are amazing and have always been a favorite of mine and my girlfriends. But, the coffee has to stop - I don’t think anyone of the baristas have ever had any sort of Barista training or know how to pull an espresso shot, let alone how to steam the milk. Today I had a cappuccino that was seemingly pulled for over 50 seconds, completely burnt and watered down and truly was awful. I love this place but if they would consider hiring training and re-dialing their espresso machine and grinder that would be spectacular and I truly believe would elevate the business as a whole.

Yelp
This is a cute spot to get some pastries (and idk why but also household items) after a run in Prospect Park or just hanging with your friends in PLG. Loves: + The cinnamon roll (I mean how do you not get this!) + Treats galore including: croissants, patties, quiche, bagels, and more Other things to consider: - There are a few tables for outdoor seating and two indoor high tops (but no chairs). - The line felt long at 11am but moved decently unless you're ordering coffee. Overall this is a nice little spot in the area!

Yelp
these guys are fantastic! asked if they could custom make a non-vegan strawberry shortcake for my girlfriend's birthday and not only did they oblige but they knocked that cake outta the park. one of the best cakes I've ever eaten hands down. they got good ice coffee too. highly recommend!

Yelp
This local coffee shop is amazing! I saw it and knew I had to try it. They make their pastries in-house, the selection is so good and they have vegan options as well. The coffee is great! The owners were personable and made great suggestions based on what I mentioned I like. Definitely a must visit when in the LFG area.

Yelp
Cinnamon Girl is pretty solid! They are a great neighborhood spot and their coffee is pretty good. I like their house blends as well as their speciality blends. Their pastries can be a hit or miss but overall they're usually good and there's quite a few options that rotate everyday. The service is always super quick and the staff is really nice. This place is grab and go- it's not sit down or anything although there's two tables outside. Also I wouldn't say Cinnamon Girl is super affordable, but the coffee is worth it.

Yelp
I've had a couple pastries from this place - and they were all really good. The fish patty I got was rich and flavorful, and they have some incredible gluten free cookies. The standout to me is the vegan, GF muffins, so carroty and delicious, the perfect breakfast snack. There's also some quirky items in the store itself, including weird licorice (which some of my friends love) and fun candies.

Yelp
I'm absolutely in love with this little shop. They have the best variety of items! I was so happy to find out that Cinnamon Girl also sells local provisions. They have a small but fantastic selection of fresh produce, dry products, sauces, wine, beer, and more. ALL of their baked goods are made in NY by the CG company. I am not a vegan but I'm always looking for spots to bring friends who are. Although I did not try their vegan options, I was pleasantly surprised with how many options there were. I'll definitely bring friends back to test/I'll try myself next time. I had a spinach feta quiche that was heated up and ate every bit of it. Absolutely delicious. I was so surprised. I wish I knew this location was here sooner!!
google avatar

Tracy L.

Yelp
I've only had their coffee and cookies, which are both absolutely delicious! However, I do think they're a little overpriced. Every time I'd gone it's usually one person taking and making orders, so it's a long wait if you're unlucky enough to walk in when it's busy. It's small so more an order and go spot, not an environment to linger.

Meagan Bianca B.

Yelp
Letting the young man behind the counter know it was my first time there he went over their selection. I appreciate his enthusiasm for the pastries. Made me want to try everything. I stopped myself at two items. Cupcake and cheese cake were both very sugary. I have a strong sweet tooth so I can handle it but if you prefer a more subtle dessert pick another option. I almost didn't come because of the star rating. Happy I took a chance. I live close. See myself coming back here to try more of the variety.

Yelp
If I could rate this establishment " 0 " I would! I walked in to this establishment wanting to support what seemed to be a cool local Brooklyn spot. Much to my dismay, the shop employees were mistreating a customer who seemed to be less affluent. This customer was a black man. He was accompanied by a white woman who purchased a bagel and lox meal for him. As this man was awaiting his meal, he asked questions about the price of the bagel and asked for a receipt. Instead of answering him and providing him a receipt, which is the right of any customer, they asked him to wait outside of the establishment for his order. Others who were awaiting their orders were not asked to wait outside. When the black male customer refused to wait for his order outside, one of the shop staff, a white woman called 911 stating that a man was refusing to leave and being disruptive. L.I.E.! I left in DISGUST. Beware of places like these that are racially bias!

Yelp
Stopped in today and got the vegan lentil patty & vegan peanut butter bar sooooo good will be back to try their cakes/Patties again :) especially in summer for a picnic at the park nearby.

Yelp
Almost 17 dollars for a cupcake , a slice of cake and an empanada . You will still be asked for a tip at the end of the transaction as well so the charge can grow if you're generous . I wasn't given an itemized receipt or any receipt for that matter so I don't even know if I was overcharged . I left the store with a fish empanada , red velvet cupcake and black out sliced cake. The fish empanada was extra disappointing after being hyped as the best empanada by the young guy working the counter . The taste just wasn't good at all . The fish taste wasn't very detectable underneath all the green colored seasonings. I threw it away after a couple bites unfortunately. The sliced black out cake was really good . Perfectly moist , sufficiently sweet and just indulgent . Not the best chocolate cake I've had but it's up there . The vegan cupcake was given to a family member who didn't complain about it so that's a good sign . Speaking of signs , this store can benefit from better signs. The signs they use are barely readable. When I couldn't make out the signs, the young guy behind the counter jumped in to explain some of the goodies . Despite his obvious vast knowledge of the products , he spoke way too quickly when identifying and explaining the products . He could have been a tad bit friendlier in my opinion instead of so robotic and uppity . The lay out of the baked goods can be better as well . They aren't showcased in a way that is inviting . In any event , I'll give it a chance down the road and try more goodies and form a firmer opinion on this place .

Yelp
I hate to do this, but I had a miserable experience with Cinnamon Girl. I was served a patty that was burnt to the point that it was inedible. When I brought it up with the owner, he refused to do anything about it, was quite condescending, and claimed, "This is acceptable." I was ripped off by the local baker. He rode off into the sunset with my hard-earned money. Pretty rough.
google avatar

Yelp
They got some GREAT savory pastries. The lentil patty? Damn so good. And don't even get me started on the sweet stuff! Lovely neighborhood spot.

Yelp
Great drink options using counter culture coffee. Went later in the day so many of the baked goods had been sold, but still walked away with a yummy cookie and brownie. (there's no outdoor seating at the time)

Yelp
Stopped in on a whim when I saw it was open during COVID-19. Upon walking in, I noticed all of the pastries and cakes were vegan. It was too late for my pride to walk out. I decided to give it a go anyway, ordering a "Monster Cookie" and a slice of key lime cheesecake for, what else, to go. The cookie was oat-based and therefore pretty crumbly. Not exactly Nature Valley granola bar crumbly but not chewy. Dipping it in milk improved the situation greatly, but it's not a cookie I'll be craving or even really thinking about after writing this review. The key lime cheesecake was surprisingly tart and creamy. I didn't think a vegan cheesecake could achieve that level of creaminess, but I'm happy to be wrong in this case. The flavor was mostly great, but I think it took on a bit of the flavor of the paper to-go box it was in, which was unfortunate... and weird. Minus the box flavor, I would actually eat the cheesecake again. The crust was buttery, filling was smooth, and the lime flavor was pronounced. It was also perfectly baked. Lastly, the cashier was super friendly and polite, which is always nice. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to revisit, but I think it's an okay choice for impromptu dessert.

Yelp
I don't get over here much but when I do, yum: their cakes!!!! Amazing!!!! Recently loved the pineapple coconut cake. They often have a good selection of pastries as well.

Brooke L.

Yelp
I love this spot- great drinks and food (especially the vegan selection!!!). However, I was just in today and the manager(?) was extremely unprofessional... it appeared as though they were training a new barista, and were totally micromanaging them the entire time I was there lol. At one point I heard them ask the barista what my order was, then proceed to ask ME again immediately after, as if they didn't trust their own employee... Super lame! All my respect to the barista who remained patient & cheerful- my latte and bites were excellent!!

Fabiola S.

Yelp
Ran into this beautiful coffee shop on my way to prospect park. Perfect combination of coffee, pastries and groceries. Warm and friendly team!

Yelp
Has anything changed? No. The cake is still great. The service is still obnoxious. I can handle rude, I live in Flatbush after all. I cannot handle obnoxious eye rolling when I ask about the ingredients because you forgot to put your sign out. If I ask you if it has meat and you can't answer that basic question, don't roll your eyes at me and huff when I don't buy anything. Either way, same old. Nothing has changed. I might try again in a year.

Yelp
Man, these girls know how to bake! The cakes, cupcakes, and breads are to die for. Collectively, my roommate and I have tried at least 4 different types of cake and a variety of their breakfast breads. Everything is insanely good and you'd never guess that most of it is vegan. A few days ago I tried a slice of their cookies 'n cream cake, and OMG. Heaven. Complete and utter heaven. If you're an Oreo lover like me, then you'll love this cake. The frosting tastes just like the white Oreo filling and there are 3 layers of it. I also had no idea that Oreo's were vegan...the more you know! As for the customer service, they certainly don't go out of their way with the friendlies, but I wasn't bothered by it. The treats more than make up for it.

Yelp
Passed by here on the way to brunch nearby and "Vegan muffin" caught my eye. So of course after some eats and three mimosas in, I waltzed right back over. To my pleasant surprise, this sweet shop was loaded with all kinds of vegan treats--cookies, muffins, cake! I don't often stumble on vegan cake, so I had to try some. Got a slice of the pina colada and it was phenom. Wasn't as moist and light as I thought it'd be, but it was still pretty great. I had a bite that night and then the rest with tea the next morning and delish! Also got a peanut butter cookie and it was just OK. A little too dense for my liking, but I guess that's the sacrifice when you cut out all of the non-vegan goods that make it buttery and crispy. Even still, I'm certain I'll be stopping back in for a slice of cake when I'm in the neighborhood.

M J.

Yelp
Didnt expect what i had found inside as i thought it was a sweet shop but it is so much more ! Delicious food and the kindest staff. Will return shortly :)

Yelp
Cinnamon is my favorite spice, and I'm always on the lookout for standout vegan options so I was excited to check out Cinnamon Girl. The results were mixed. There are some good plant based options but the customer experience left a lot to be desired. We loved the raspberry almond coconut cake! It was moist and flavorful giving you fruity raspberry purée and a nice coconut texture. My wife tried the Cranberry Oatmeal cookie which she enjoyed. We got the Monster Cookie for my daughter (not vegan) which was smashed with the quickness. But a couple things left something to be desired. Their hours weren't posted on Yelp when we checked (closes at 9:30pm). There were tables but no chairs in the cafe/bakery. And the person who served us for our ice cream order wrong twice. They advertise VanLeeuwen Vegan Ice Cream (cookie crumbles and strawberry jam)- which I love. She first gave us cookies and cream- then we didn't see until after we got home- the dairy honey ice cream instead of the non-dairy cookie crumble. Pretty big mistake - especially after being corrected. Hopefully, if they improve on the hospitality (server was not really responsive to attempts to get more details or engage us) and preserving accuracy, my rating will increase.

Malena S.

Yelp
Had a delicious oat latte with a little bit of vanilla syrup--it was one of the best cups of coffee I've had in New York. The gentleman who made it was polite and obviously extremely gifted when it comes to coffee. Small detail, but I loved the to-go cups they use as well! Adorable shop where you can buy groceries in addition to your coffee fix. Can't wait to come back for another latte.

Yelp
very yummmyyy vegetarian breakfast empanada !!!just sad bc the total for this was over $12 lol but it do be ny. great start to the morning, fueled my long ass orgo exam that ensued after grabbing this real quick (sorry to the guy at the counter who witnessed me after just waking up and wanting to die). guy working there was also very nice & asked that unmasked people wait outside while he still took their order & accomodated for them kindly !

Yelp
Warning! Spend your money elsewhere. The customer service and humanity of this business is trash! I recently ordered 3 dozen cupcakes for my daughters birthday that totaled $144 for a morning pickup. The morning of her party I go to pickup, and was told "they aren't here"by a woman let's call her "Karen" who then turned her back and proceeded to butter a bagel. No apology no reasoning just pure "Karen" behavior. This woman I later found out is the owner! Her partner standing next to her says, "they didn't deliver them from Manhattan." That just told me that this is not a locally made bakery and they were never going to be delivered. He then ushers me outside as I get ready to cuss him and "Karen" out, and says I'll do you a favor I'll drive to the city and pick them up and deliver them to party! A favor! The party had already started, and I needed the cupcakes. I tell him where to deliver and what time to deliver. He comes 1hr after the party is over! I asked for a refund and will never be back. Shenanigans! I ended up going to Clementine Bakery and they saved the day.

Yelp
Decent pastries. Absolutely horrible service. Like many of you here, I gave them at least 3 chances. Everytime I come in to buy something, I left angry. People who works there hates their job. So please just quit if you hate it so much. Ugh.

Yelp
Cinnamon Girl has been my fiancé and I's favorite long standing coffee shop in PLG for years now. The coffee is excellent and the pastries are great as well (personal favorites being the breakfast empanada & the maple cinnamon roll). For those of us who are vegan, gluten free and or dairy free there are lots of dessert and pastry options with a full case of cakes and other desserts daily. Apart from the food offerings there is also a small offering of groceries as well as beers available from local indie breweries. In a pinch it's a fine place to stop in for milk or fruits & veg. We have never had any issues with the staff and come in quite often! They are always pleasant, friendly and take the time to get your order right :) Thank you Cinnamon Girl folks for all you do in providing great service (and coffee) to the community!

Yelp
Moved to the neighborhood and have been frequenting this place ever since. The cakes are out of this world, and they have a lot of vegan options. My fave is the Boston cream, sooo good! They have a small selection of really nice groceries. And everyone that I've interacted with who works there has been friendly!
google avatar

Yelp
Staying in the neighborhood for a month. Was spending about $30 per week here. Nice staff, cold owner but didn't see her much. Had some java beans bought elsewhere, and forgot my rental had no grinder. Asked staff member if I might bring it in to be ground. Yes, not a problem. Came in the next AM, saw the owner was there. Had found het vibe lacking before, but went ahead and asked for croissants and bean grinding. I can't grind anything not bought here is the response. I unselect croissants and ain't coming back to spend any $ for the rest of my stay. Plenty of positive friendly businesses nearby. And I got the beans ground' AVOID UPTIGHT HIPSTER VANITY STORES. Other than this, Prospect Gardens is a beautiful place!

Yelp
This place was cute. I enjoyed the food, but the space is small and only has two standing bar tables. It also seems very understaffed, with only one young lady behind the counter. When I ordered a bagel with lox, the whole line came to a halt so she could prepare it. Though, it was nice to see it was prepared fresh. The place itself doubles as both a cafe and a gourmet market. I found a lot of fun items on the shelves and interesting beers and ciders in the refrigerator case. The place smells great when you walk in--fittingly enough like cinnamon. I didn't try any of the baked goods besides my bagel, but it's always nice to see a multitude of gluten and vegan options.
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
Cute small coffee shop. Currently on a diet so I didn't try the pastries, but they look delicious. Big pro for me is they serve both iced coffee AND genuine cold brew. Plus they have almond and oat mills (which should be standard at any coffee shop now imo) Not a lot of space to sit down, but that's not a bad thing. It's more of an in-and-out spot.
google avatar

MadMama N.

Yelp
Amazing vegan pastry! But horrible HORRIBLE SERVICE! 3-4 times a week there's one girl that is just awful! She never says hi, always gives the look. Even of I walk in smiling and say hi, she won't even look!!!! Charges more than the other girl! Like how is that even possible for the same items? And it takes like 15 minutes to get some pastry and coffee. Once i was waiting 10 minutes right in front of her, while she was squeezing fresh juice! 10 minutes! And no Hi or "just a minute". She was ignoring me. Just awful! I don't understand why she is still working there!
google avatar

George C.

Yelp
The cloud cookie is a cruel joke (the jar had no description for it and the staffer couldn't explain) and the monster cookie isn't good either. There was a huge line, not helped by the slow & indifferent staffer, on a Sunday evening when the sun blinded everyone inside. Custom Amount × 2 ($2.75 ea.) $5.50 Total $5.50
google avatar

Kate H.

Yelp
very cute local shop with good cakes and a nice selection of fancy grocery items and drinks. they have many sober drink options in fancy bottles. customer service could have been better but it's cute
google avatar

Zachary M.

Yelp
I have been here twice and both times have been for their $1 small coffee! It's a perfect thing to grab before heading into the park on a chilly day. Now is it the best coffee? No, but for a buck can you really complain? They have a solid selection of pastries and they are also sort of a mini market with some over the counter food options available. Including beer! Go for a cheap coffee on a chilly day, go for a cold brew to take to the park on a sunny day!
google avatar

Caroline D.

Yelp
Came in on a rainy day for lunch. Let's be real, this is a store with some readymade food to take away. It's not a space to sit and eat for a moment, there aren't any chairs, only two high top tables in front. I got an egg and avocado sandwich to go, which was $8.... the bread was stale and avocado brown, with a tiny bit of dried egg to round out my disappointment. How can you charge that much for a sandwich like that? It's a crime. The woman at the counter wasn't very friendly - I didn't feeling any kind of good energy in the room. It's a shame because it's a cute spot, and the baked goods look delicious (although I didn't try any). Lower your prices, Cinammon Girl....this isn't Williamsburg!
google avatar

Katrina S.

Yelp
Best latte in a 2-mile radius on Flatbush. Not the place for everyday grocery shopping, but great for rare finds when you're having people over and want to impress. Some of my favorites here: Ginger beer! Dark chocolate! Coconut water! Their homemade granola! I keep forgetting to try the bagels, which are HUGE.
google avatar

Kelley R.

Yelp
I'm torn. The vegan cake is amazing (especially the sugar + carrot cake) and the pastries are good too. But the service is abysmal at best. Most of the time, I'm the only customer and I'm treated as if they couldn't care less. I don't expect much but eye contact and a hello go along way. Ask for a piece of cake and it's like the world is ending. PS. I've left tips DESPITE this service to improve moral and alas.. no improvement. Will I go back? First, I may search for other options.
google avatar

Natalie K.

Yelp
I love this place and the milkshake iced coffee and croissant selection. Love diverse staff in otherwise mostly white hipster coffee shops in bedstuy. Heard mixed reviews on lattes. Also saw girl being told how to add 2 and 5 by slightly arrogant management this morning.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
I Was in need of some late day coffee and a treat after a run in the park. The place was empty with one counter girl working on something with her head down. She looked up, made a strange face and kept doing what she was doing as if we had left. Having never been here before I was looking for more attentive service (I guess). Anyway after I greeted her with a warm hello (as if I worked there) she continued to make weird faces and give us attitude. Once we got coffee we grabbed whatever looked good as a snack. The coffee and treat were good, but the service left a bad taste in my mouth. There's no reason to do business with poor service. I'd rather go somewhere else. First and last visit...

Yelp
I pretty much only buy groceries here when I haven't had time to pick them up elsewhere and I'm really happy with what they have. Farm eggs, Tonje's dairy yogurt drinks and cheeses, acme smoked fish, d'artagnan bacon, ithaca hummus, other organic and small-batch type items. I give them props for their small selection of farm-fresh veggies that are actually fresh! Stores like this usually just keep the stuff out while it's wilting in the hopes someone desperate for organic kale will cave and buy it but the vegetables and fruits in the case in the back are usually always in good shape and the selection changes seasonally. Right now they have plums from Red Jacket orchards and broccoli, crimini mushrooms, butternut squash, etc. People complain about the service, I never do anything other than pay for what I'm buying so I dunno. I would probably never even think to order a sandwich here for some reason. I wish they had cheaper whole bean coffee like from Porto Rico or something too. Everywhere in this neighborhood is charging crazy amounts of money for whole beans.

Yelp
So glad to know that my favorite barista ever from the Bed-Stuy location is now working here as well. Hes a good looking fellow, with some wavy locks and charming charisma. In addition to the wavy locks, they also serve delicious lox. This man named Dan, who also plays in a band, has beautiful hands, but he never serves food with sand.

Peter N.

Yelp
Food's ok, but customer service fail! Actual exchange with clerk: I enter store: "Hi there!" (Silence) After grabbing 1-2 items, head to register. Me: "How's it going? (Silence) Me: "You don't like talking to customers, do you?" Clerk: "No" Me: "Why not?" Clerk: "I don't see the point" I didn't expect Mary Poppins, but FFS - you work in retail, at least acknowledge the customer!

Yelp
Cinnamon Girl has the rudest and most inhospitable staff. You'd think after MULTIPLE reviews commenting on how inconsiderate the staff is that they'd make a change. But no. Literally every time I went into the store, whichever girl behind the counter would be on her phone and completely ignore customers. The old woman manager is often lurking somewhere giving people the stink eye, and scolding at her employees. My family and I have stopped coming here completely because of how unpleasant the experience is, which is a shame because it is around the corner from us and it is a cute place with fresh (overpriced) produce. But I rather spend my money at any other neighborhood grocery store than have to come into Cinnamon Girl ever again.

Yelp
Had a red velvet cake and a cinnamon roll, both were good, so I would come back. As far as I remember there isn't a seating area.

Yelp
Cinnamon Girl's products are good, but they are totally clueless when it comes to customer service. I used to go the Flatbush Ave/PLG location a lot. In the last year there has been one (male) counter person who was cordial and nice. The rest, including the two people who I suspect are the owners, are disdainful and curt to varying degrees. The straw that broke this camel's back was their screen-based tip jar. When you pay with a cc or debit card, the counter person will shove a screen across the counter where you choose among various tip amount options--including "no tip." What, by the way, is a reasonable tip for someone who hands you two $3 cookies across the counter? I say zero. If the employees are underpaid, give them a raise and increase the price on these (already overpriced) products if necessary. As it is, saying no to this screen-based tip jar becomes a public gesture, where the customer who fails to contribute is made to look like a cheapskate. During my last Cinnamon Girl encounter, I didn't fill out the tip jar screen because I didn't have my glasses and couldn't see it. When I looked at my debit card statement, I was charged $9 for two $3 cookies. The counter person (a young woman) apparently jobbed me for $3 because I didn't choose "no tip" on the tip jar screen. They don't get the last laugh, though. I will NEVER go back to this place again. Now that there are more pastry options in PLG, avoiding Cinnamon Girl won't be difficult.

Yelp
The first time I thought I was just hungry, second time, thought I was hungry again, the third time I couldn't tell why, but I keep getting cake-gasms every time I have a slice of cake from Cinnamon Girl. Doesn't matter what flavor it is, it's always perfectly mixed, with adequately chosen ingredients leaving behind a warm, tender ,moist treat.

Yelp
Child please...I guess people want the staff who are probably making very little to kiss their entire behind versus hand them delicious pastries in a lovely, clean shop. I had the most delicious gluten free, vegan muffin ever this morning. The staff did exactly what they were supposed to do. I was polite, they were too. Nothing extra, but they are not paid to elevate my altitude. The muffin and my internal emotional stability did that just fine.

Yelp
I live right around the corner from this place. While they have a nice selection of stuff, especially vegan baked good, I don't patronize them anymore. It must be a prerequisite to be rude to get a job here. It's incredible. It must flow from the owner. Not a "Hi", not one ounce of friendliness. So I'll happily walk out of my way to another cafe where the staff and owner don't seem like they could care less.
