Cinnamon Grand Colombo

We recently had a one-day office workshop at Cinnamon Grand Hotel, and it turned out to be an amazing experience. Even though the workshop was just for a day, we stayed overnight, which made the event even more enjoyable. The workshop facilities were well-organized and comfortable, creating the perfect atmosphere for learning and team bonding. In the evening, we had a dinner party — the food was excellent, with a wide variety of delicious dishes, and the bar service was outstanding with a great selection of drinks. The rooms were clean, cozy, and well-maintained, making our overnight stay relaxing after a productive day. The staff were friendly, attentive, and ensured everything went smoothly throughout our time at the hotel. Overall, Cinnamon Grand provided the ideal combination of professionalism and comfort. I highly recommend it for corporate workshops, events, and leisure stays.

The location is strategic, and I really liked the walking distance to the Galle Face area. Service was great until my late dinner at The Plates on the 3rd night of my stay. I asked for the bill to be charged to my room, but was told it couldn’t be done. After that, I received several calls from the front desk and even had staff come to my room twice. At first, I said I would pay by credit card, but the staff insisted it was cash only. I then told them I’d go down and settle it at the restaurant. Later, another call came saying they could bring the card machine, which was what I had requested from the beginning. The issue didn’t end there—during check-out, the same charge appeared under my room even though they had told me it couldn’t be charged that way. I ended up paying twice, which was very frustrating. That was just one of the issues I faced during my 4-night stay. For the room, I gave 3 stars as I didn’t find it comfortable. The pillows were too low for me, the air conditioning was too cold with a non-functional remote, and the iron provided was not good. I would definitely prefer a steam iron instead.

I recently celebrated my mother’s birthday at Cinnamon Grand, and it was a truly wonderful experience. I would like to especially thank Mr. Hasitha, Mr. Sunanda, and Ms. Dilrukshi for their great support throughout the event. The restaurant area was beautifully maintained and very clean, and there was a wide variety of delicious food and beverages to enjoy.||What made the celebration even more special was the warm and friendly hospitality we received. Mr. Hasitha, Mr. Sunanda, Ms.Dilrukshi, and all the other staff members welcomed us with genuine kindness and took excellent care of us. It was a memorable evening, and I truly appreciate the outstanding service provided by the team.||Highly recommended!

A Grand Decline at the Cinnamon Grand I’ve been coming to this hotel for over 20 years, and honestly, it’s like watching an old friend slowly fall apart. The owners should know there’s a point where you have to renovate. That point passed about a decade ago — back in 2015 — and they’ve just kept coasting downhill since. The “grand” vibe? Long gone. Now it’s just dim, gloomy lighting that makes the place feel even older than it is. Even the lobby entrance looks worn-out and in desperate need of a paint job. Inside, the walls are still rocking their 1980s style… now with some bonus mildew “art” for that extra retro touch. The rooms? Some feel like stepping into a time machine… straight to the ‘80s, complete with furniture that’s probably been there since then. And apparently, the roaches have moved in too — I killed two in my room during my last stay in August 2025. The lobby furniture? Yeah, it’s time to call the garbage truck. The whole place feels tired, dusty, and neglected. After two decades of visits, this was my last. Cinnamon Grand used to be something special — now it’s just… old.

Cinnamon Grand is a really good hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the service is nice. The place feels a little old in some areas, but it’s still well taken care of and has a welcoming atmosphere. Overall, I had a pleasant stay and would recommend it.

Quite possibly one of the best hotels to stay at in Colombo. From the moment you check in at the front desk until you check out, the people, their service, hospitality, and overall engagements and interactions with you will leave you speechless. I stayed here with my family and we have 2 young ones and we did not have any issues with anything we needed help with our entire stay. I would highly recommend getting your stay with breakfast as that was the highlight of the day for all of us. The folks over at Plates where breakfast is held have some of the best service I’ve seen around the world. Their welcome with a smile, friendly nature and overall hospitality made our time extra special.

THE LAGOON|Very noisy… fish market atmosphere…but food was super! Very tasty and flavorful…. Soups need to be piping hot! Service was good…. Thanks Suranga, Iroshan Dilini Nandana and Kapila. |A/C needs to be turned up when crowded and pls switch off the music….. whoever chooses the songs should be fired!
