Overall great experience for the price! The front desk staff, especially Angie were excellent and quick to answer any questions we threw at them. Breakfast was served almost whenever you liked and there were so many options to choose from. This location is one last plus you were out of the highly populated area and yet everything was only a 15-30 minute walk and with access to electric scooters the options were endless. I would stay here again for another great time!

Booked hotel the same day. Arrived within 15 min. The room they assigned me wasn't ready(completely understandable) they switched me to new room immediately. Transportation to the beach was effortless. The complimentary breakfast was good. I had a late flight home. The hotel held my luggage while I enjoyed the island until my flight. I would definitely stay here again.

Google
This hotel has a lower rating than it deserves. Our room was spacious and was cleaned every day by housekeeping. The staff from start to finish was absolutely wonderful. we ended needing a late check out at the last minute due to flight changes, and they let us stay an extra 2 hours. The rooftop bar is great the view is beautiful, and food and drinks were delicious. There is a pool, but it's a small, like relaxing pool, not meant for swimming and diving, but it's definitely perfect to get your relaxation on. We ordered the complimentary breakfast every day, and it was great they delivered it within our requested time. 10/10 recommend

We stayed here for a week and it was a wonderful visit. The staff were all so helpful and nice. Breakfast was delivered to your room every morning and they have a restaurant on the roof if you don’t want to leave for food. Our room had a small kitchen and laundry room, which was amazing and useful when staying so many days with teenagers. The hotel is close to a lot of sights, and not a bad drive from El Yunque rainforest. The only downside in my opinion was the very small pool that closes very early. Other than that, it was a perfect experience.

Very nice hotel to stay. Let's start with the introduction to the place: I called to do a late check-in and Paola, kindly notify me that i could check-in up until 6am or so of the following day. All personnel was very respectful, the room is Majestic (stayed at the Luxury penthouse). Upstairs bar is very nice with an amazing view. The breakfast is brought to your door every morning upon request and free of charge. The 24hrs market next to the Hotel is a PLUS, and the are is close to everything you wanna visit for a great first impression of Puerto Rico. Thanks Ciqala and Paola for this nice experience.

Google
We got a penthouse suite with a king bed - the room was fabulous. Our bathroom had a jet bath tub but no hot water. We got barely like warm water on multiple tries. Rooftop was amazing! And staff was good. They had breakfast included but that served only eggs as main and oatmeal as a side. Ao nothing much for vegetarian. Location is kinda quiet.

Google
my first time in puerto rico and stayed a night at ciqala suites and had an amazing time! although being here for just one night everything was perfect, clean, and friendly! the restaurant on the rooftop had amazing food and AMAZING views!! would love to stay here again the next time i come to visit. it’s also close to old san juan, all the restaurants, bars, and the airport which makes it super convenient to uber a short way. honorable mention for the breakfast being delivered to our room that tasted great. Paola B was also so amazing, friendly, and helpful checking out :) would definitely recommend staying here if you’re thinking about it!

Google
This is our second time here at this hotel we definitely reviewed it here. Also it is near the highway and every where we went it was 10-15 minutes. Very convenient and the Walmart is so nearby. They have everything there. Also Pablo b. , Paola, and Sonny were very nice. Also Paola D. Really made us feel welcome when we arrived. Really clean room, and the rooftop food was delicious.

Yelp
We stayed here prior to our southern Carribean cruise in late August and again at the end of the cruise. The initialroom we got was prison cell ish but we asked to upgrade to a nicer room. We got a presidential suite which was lovely. The first one had a jacuzzi tub which also had a tv. Our second suite had a loud motor which killed the vibe. The mini bar had $2 beer abd $1 candy. Dont rip open the love pkg as it's a stiff $25. Desk staff treated us like we were their elderly aunties. One fellow found us an all day snnorkel trip on Barefoot tour, also great. Full American breakfast in the hotel and the staff was great. We loved Corina. Neighborhood was dodgy but a $4 uber takes you to Condado where rooms are double the price. Ubers are super cheap.

Yelp
Total waste of my time and money, I received a text message while in JFK airport, informing me that the hotel had no power, and we get to the hotel , we will have to pay some fee and then proceed to the Courtyard Marriott which was a downgrade to what we paid for at Ciqala. Parking was included at Ciaqala however once they switched us to the Courtyard we had to pay $20 to park. The Manager never responded to our concerns, the breakfast was sent over to us super cold and incomplete...... I will not recommend this establishment, besides Angel customer service is terrible.... Kudos and thanks Angel for your hospitality

Yelp
.. I would have selected 0 if I could have. They turned off the power and water for 5 hours without little notification. Stuck in my room for hours. I'm wheelchair biubd and couldn't get out. They promised me a credit and have now denied it after I left.. MIGUEL THE MANAGER WAS HORRIBLE

Yelp
**This is a review for the rooftop restaurant/lounge** This restaurant wasn't good, from the food to how they treated us as guests. The food is made in a very small kitchen, so be prepared for your food to take 1 or more hours to come out. The food wasn't good at all. It lacked flavor and the meat was dryyyyy. The waiter told us he was frustrated because he has 7 other tables (NOT MY FAULT) Also, the only thing worth visiting at this restaurant is the city views THATS IT! I will NEVER return!!! BEWARE!! THE FOOD IS OVERPRICED AND NOT WORTH A TRY HONESTLY

Yelp
Todos los que trabajan aquí son muy buenos desde Edwin. Camila, Edgardo 1 y Edgardo 2. Todos nos atendieron súper amables y rápido, Nos cambiaron de cuarto 3 veces hasta sentirnos bien en este cuarto

Yelp
I stayed here for 3 nights and I must say it was a great experience minus a few cons. I'll start with the cons. The worst thing that happened was my internet did not work at all the entire trip and I called down stairs to tell them but they couldn't fix it. The other thing was my linen had hair on it but they got that handled right away. The hotel was small but decent looking. The pros... Why it held on to a 4 was the customer service!!! This hotel has THE best customer services that I've ever had at a hotel. LETI is the best!! She should be running this hotel. I watched how she went above and beyond not just for me but for every guest. I called down stairs at 11pm and she handled it right away. She also came back multiple times to make sure we were good with the linen. She also gave us great recommendations on where to eat and have fun. The hotel location is pretty descent too. Everything is in walking distance. Good job Ciqala!!!

Yelp
We found this place online after checking into and quickly checking out of the worst Air Bnb ever. We got the presidential suite and it was huge! The master bedroom had a jacuzzi with a tv on the wall and the kitchen was very large. Also full size washer & dryer. The front desk staff was very helpful. Breakfast was included but we had to leave early to catch a flight so we didn't get a chance to try it.

Yelp
Avoid this place like the plague: -"City View" means view of the port and dilapidated housing -The staff is rude, charges for items that were never used -The pool is like a kiddy pool and surrounded by people eating -The rooms are filthy, and the windows had so much mildew caked on you could barely see through them (see photos) -There is a 24 hour station next door filled with beggars and crackheads, the street is not safe to walk on I have been coming to Puerto Rico for years and you couldn't pay me to stay here again.

Yelp
I tried to avoid even writing this review! I try to give all businesses the benefit of the doubt! Unfortunately I've been left no other choice! On 3/4/2022 we arrived at the Ciqala around 2:30 pm we were told it was too early to check in but we could leave our bags at the front desk so we did. We headed up to their in house restaurant which had pooling water everywhere! We were literally slipping and sliding everywhere. We inquired about the pooling water under the table we were ushered to and were informed it had just rained. But we were in an indoor restaurant ?!?! So we went up to the rooftop only to find it looked nothing like the pics! This hotel didn't have any lounge chairs around the pool which was disappointing since we planned to spend one day at the pool. Not to mention the pool was approximately 5ft x 8ft and the water was cloudy like the filtration system wasn't working correctly. So we order 3 casamigos with lemonade only to receive casamigos with sour mix. When I inquired, the waiter informed us they were out of lemonade. I politely explained he could have told us and we would have changed the order, it's not a good business practice to just substitute due to the fact that my friend hates sour mix! He apologized and attempted to make lemonade with limes which was just as bad because he didn't add any sugar so it was extremely tart. We chalked it up and decided we wouldn't order any drinks there. So upon checking in we were told breakfast was included and we should just fill out the form and leave it outside the room before 4 am in order to receive breakfast. We paid close attention to the breakfast meats because my friend doesn't eat pork. She ordered turkey ham and apple juice with her breakfast and I ordered coffee, only to receive three orange juices and old turkey cold cuts! One bite and you could tell the cold cuts weren't fresh at all! Fast forward two days in, my aunt wakes up about 4:40 am to realize we didn't have running water. I call the front desk and was told they were aware... about 6 hrs later the water was back on but we weren't warned not to drink the water until 2 hrs after that, mind you we had a suite with a kitchen. We called the front desk to ask if someone could remove the garbage because we had made shrimp and salmon and were informed, "someone will be up but you received maid service today". Maid service? Handing me towels at the door with no verbal interaction to inquire if we needed anything isn't maid service! So we check out on 3/11/2022. Get to the airport and realize I left my apple rapid charger for my iPad... I called the front desk for two consecutive hours since our flight was delayed and no one answered which wasn't surprising because during our stay we realized they regularly leave the front desk unmanned. So about 2 am after reaching NY I was able to reach someone and was told they had my charger. I was told I would be emailed a credit card authorization form and I'd be informed when it was mailed out... I filled out the form initially forgetting to put the expiration date, which I eventually informed them of. After calling every other day I was told twice in the last week the charger was mailed out. I called last night and asked for a corporate office I was told I had to call the front desk after 10 and be transferred to corporate through that number... so I call the front desk approximately 2:30 pm today and I'm told the item has been shipped and I explained I was told I would be given shipping information and I haven't received it, I ask to speak to corporate and I'm told they found the charger in the drawer, it had been moved. I'm then asked for my address again when it's listed on the credit authorization form. I give my address and ask to speak to corporate so I can ensure that I'm given shipping info and I'm placed on hold for over an hour! Don't waste your time or money with this company unless you're ok with sub par service... update I after being on hold for an hour Friday 3/18 I call on Sunday 3/20 and I'm told they tried to send it but the shipper is asking for a copy of my credit card. I asked if o spoke to you on Friday and you attempted to ship, why wasn't I emailed or called asking for a copy of my card? The young lady on the phone was dismissive and told me she would send an email now... so if I hadn't inquired further you would have just never said anything? Never again

Yelp
What an amazing location! Luxury suites in the heart of the Miramar district in San Juan. The neighborhood reminds me of an up and coming art district in San Francisco. Friendly neighborhood, enough business, but it is missing the congestion of Old Town San Juan. What made me pick this hotel was the promise of amenities and a room to myself during a family vacation. What I loved the most: THE EPIC CUSTOMER SERVICE. Suites were clean, and the free amenities were phenomenal! During the week there were complimentary tapas and sangria; happy hour was an hour each evening offering buy one, get one free on select drinks. The morning breakfast was an excellent start each morning. There was a choice of the special each day, omelette, or eggs, and then your choice of sides. There was no exclusion on what you could order, and they offered sides of bacon with breakfast as well. The front desk was successful in arranging a day long snorkeling trip after I spent days playing phone tag with multiple tour companies in the week leading up to our departure. There were bikes available to rent complimentary if you preferred to tour San Juan via 2 wheels, and complimentary parking for our rental. The kids loved the pool. It was really an oversized hot tub, meant for lounging...but it was just a few feet from the bar, and the servers were gracious enough to bring drinks directly to you in the pool. I'd highly recommend this location because it's walking distance from Macchiato's (amazing coffee), great upscale PR tapa restaurant, and the family's favorite: 24 Seven with the delicious Peruvian Food Truck! I wasn't disappointed about anything, I was actually surprised at the luxury we lavished on for an uber affordable vacation. We got flight and hotel for a mere $465 per person for the 4 day/3 night stay! It's balling on a budget at its finest!!

Yelp
I gave Ciqala 3 stars because it was not what I pictured a luxury suite to be however the staff was five stars. Ciqala although not located on the beach is in a great location. It was pretty centrally located to the areas we frequented like Old San Juan and Condado. The most we spent on Uber rides was 8 bucks. It's located walking distance to a corner store and some restaurants. So back to the hotel nothing about the hotel is anything like any luxury or 4 star hotel I've ever been to in my life. We stayed on the top floor which was labeled PH the staff whenever they asked for the floor when we were in the elevator would say oh the penthouse. Nothing about that floor is penthouse. The floor is right below the lounge so you can hear sounds from the lounge. The room was as basic as rooms come. The shower wasn't working properly. A good shower is so important. The plus side of the room is that we could see cruise ships from the window. The lounge upstairs seemed to get a lot of traffic. We paid it a visit and it was fairly decent with great city views. I would recommend the lounge but not the hotel if luxury is what you are seeking. The hotel did have a fairly reasonable price. The staff went over the top to make sure our needs were met. They were quite friendly. They gave us lots of information about things to do. This review covers a November 2021 visit

Yelp
Very true to the pictures and right down the street from a very nice area in San Juan. Tons of places to eat and great nightlife. The rooftop bar is super convenient and a great way to end the night. The staff is always friendly and very willing to offer suggestions on places to visit in Puerto Rico. Karina was very attentive and helpful as was all of the staff members. Would definitely recommend for someone looking to stay in an affordable hotel close to multiple things to do in San Juan.

Yelp
Came here strictly for the views!!! We had an amazing table the overlooked the city. The food was surprisingly good, too.

Yelp
FAR FROM LUXURY!! Staff-- most were polite. Unless you're dealing with the front desk, don't expect the staff to speak a lick of English. The bald headed guy with the glasses who works the SP breakfast is incredibly rude and always had an attitude. He and the older man that works with front desk also had the worst attitudes and insulted me in Spanish by calling me a "puta" and "perra" because I asked them for directions. They were the worst interactions on the island during our trip. Room-- our original room was so tiny that we almost opened the door on the bed. We still had a positive attitude until....we wanted to unwind in the room after being up since 5am to find out the TV and the phone was not working. The elevators are very slow. Finally got to front desk and explained that it was my husband's birthday, they upgraded us to the penthouse studio. It was a big improvement from our previous cell of a room. My only complaint is that the room need some renovations if they want to pull off calling it a "luxury suite" Noise-- The penthouse shares the same floor with the staffs maintenance closet and housekeeper room. Be prepared to hear heavy doors slamming continuously all day long and clanging of dishes and other items very early in the morning and even at night as they may be running room service. Service-- what service ? Our toilet stopped flushing and we waited 2.5 hours for someone to come. We gave up and went out on the town. Came back at night, toilet still broken. It never was fixed by end of our stay. Housekeeping forgot to give us clean washrags, had to wait an hour. Our key card was deactivated while we were out, came back at night, went to room, had to wait for slowwww elevator to go to front desk to fix and go back. I won't name each example, but there are more and you get the point. Breakfast-- yummy but very limited. Only like 2 options, scrambled or omelette. Free beach shuttle-- a nice attempt at convenience but also very inconvenient. It only drops you off at 10 a.m. and only picks you up from the beach at 3 pm. 10 a.m. is pretty early to go to the beach on a vacation, most people are attempting to eat breakfast around that time mind you breakfast ends at 10 so be prepared to get up even earlier to eat breakfast if you want before the beach. Value-- the service is extremely lacking. You would have better accommodations at a Holiday Inn. Oh! They don't have a gym or business center (liars)

Yelp
Stood here with two other couples for Labor Day weekend 2020. The suite was nice, big rooms , very spacious. The rooftop lounge and pool was small but beautiful! You have to reserve the pool for only an hour due to COVID, which was a bummer, but understandable. But 5 hrs in, the refrigerator stopped working. Scared that all the food we purchased and the meats will get bad, we called at least 3 times downstairs. We was given an extra refrigerator instead of us getting switched to another room. There was no pots or pans provided for you to cook. So we had to buy a pot at the Walmart that's like 5 mins from the hotel. There was no good kitchen knives, only a butter knife. When we called the front desk, they came up to the room with ANOTHER butter knife. After telling the person that we needed a stronger knife for cutting meat, they explained that there wasn't any and that they will have to go to the rooftop lounge kitchen to use their knife and that we had to use it quick because the kitchen needed it... like what?! lol Then the AC in the living room stopped working. So when we went to the front desk, the lady gave us looks and asked "what happened now?" as if we were already bothering her, which made us all feel uncomfortable. Based on the costumer service, I would not go back and wouldn't recommend people to stay here.

Yelp
Ciqala takes false advertisement to a new level! They entirely falsified advertised pictures of the entire hotel from the inside out. Upon arrival, we noticed the hotel is located in a run-down neighborhood however we decided to give this place the benefit of the doubt. When entering the lobby, we were welcomed by Ms. Flores and Wendy. They informed us that our room was not ready and we are welcomed to tour the hotel. We decided to check out the rooftop pool and quickly noticed that we were misled. The pool is no bigger than 4x5 and it is extremely filthy. We decided to ask Ms. Flores to see our Suite before checking in and this is where it went downhill. Ms. Flores demeanor changed toward us and kept walking away when asked a question. Ms.Flores was extremely impolite, unprofessional and distasteful. When asked to see the room Ms.Flores very distastefully said "it seems like you have never been to a hotel or Airbnb before that you are asking to see a room. " We decided to question her unprofessionalism and things spiraled out of control. Ms.Flores asked one of the girls in our trip "have you seen yourself in the mirror, I can bring you a mirror you look disgusting." Ms. Flores also said "You guys are trashy". When Ms. Flores realized she was being recorded, her attitude and tone of voice completely changed for a couple minutes. After her award-winning fake act, she pointed to the camera and said "I am suing, delete the video, delete the video" and proceeded to call what we believe was 911. We asked Ms.Flores for the supervisor/manager/owner and she provided a false name and number. We have not been able to reach anyone after our incident on 2/6/22. We have footage of this incident if management ever decides to contact us.

Yelp
The property is tucked in a residential area with pleasant staff and an accommodating manager. Our king studio room was more than comfortable. Jacuzzi tub, full kitchen (including dishes/pots/etc), couch bed with separating screen and cozy bedding. The facility itself has wonderful views, free wifi, complimentary tapas and cocktail Monday - Thursday evening and is within walking distance of many restaurants and a local beach. The 'pool' is more sized like an oversized hot tub, but the roof top location more than makes up for the lack of size! The panoramic city, mountain and ocean view is completely breath taking! And Ciqala has one of the fanciest complimentary, made to order breakfasts I have experienced. The fitness room is also quaint, but enough to get a cardio workout in. The hallways can also be a little noisy, but the guests we visited with were quite respectful. There is also some construction, but I do not fault them for making further improvements. There is also a pleasant appearing underground garage that we waved at, but did not use. I would return here in a heartbeat as I only expect Orvando (spelling?) and the management to do better things in the future!

Yelp
The room smelled like marijuana, they offered to move me but with 11 bags a toddler and long drive from Aguada in traffic they didn't offer to assist with moving luggage so I stayed. 3 fire alarms were needing battery replacement and beeped all night. The jacuzzi tub was non functional and the refrigerator didn't cool enough to keep milk in it. I had to put the milk in the freezer to keep it cold enough to not go bad for my toddler. I asked for freshener and they gave me an almost empty can and didn't pick up the phone for assistance. I had to go down to the lobby for help. I had a flight the next day and had to prepare our luggage and repack and it just wasn't worth the hassle to continue to try to fight. The place was spacious and beds were comfy but at 600 a night for a presidential suite it should be perfect.

Yelp
Don't waste your money staying here. Multiple things went wrong wIth our stay here. 1. Customer service is horrible. I had to call for almost a week to be able to speak with a manager in regards to our stay. And even after speaking with him he was not helpful and did not care about my situation. 2. Room was dirty. Towels had stains, bath robes were dingy and falling apart, furniture had stains. 3. Walls were thin, at least in the room we were in. My boyfriend thought I was talking to him but it was actually the people in the room next door. 4. There's a rooftop club which makes the parking garage full at night. The hotel does offer valet but the person working it didn't look like he worked there I thought it might be a scam. A little back story about our stay, we were in Puerto Rico during all of the earth quakes, tsunami wrongs and power outages. We were on a smaller island and got stuck the day we were supposed to check in at this hotel. Because of the weather the ferry didn't come to pick anyone up. We had to wait for 12 hours for a cargo ferry to get back to the island. Because it was so late I was not able to cancel our reservation. We arrived to the hotel around 1am and had to check out before 5am. Because of the extenuating circumstances I requested a partial refund for our stay. The hotel was extremely expensive and we were not able to use any of the amenities. We slept for a few hours and those few hours were not up to par for the price we paid. After being dodged for a week and met with some rude employees, the manager refused to help us in any form.

Yelp
I would give it zero but I cant. 1 the pool is only 6 feet by 2 feet. So pictures are wrong 2 beds are way worn old looking sheets. 3 stinks in the elevator 4 pillow had like a stain (cum) on it. 5 the most important they say they have the right to miss advertising. Plus when we checked out 1 hour later the lady said the pictures are just a little misguided.

E B.

Yelp
Terrible experience, it's really expensive($3500) for what you get. I got 2 rooms, 1 room was fine the other was horrible. SP floor is really loud you will wake up from the sounds of workers entering and leaving a closet, guests entering and leaving the floor for breakfast and such, a pipe bursted in a different room and leaked into the hall and my room causing luggage (clothing, makeup ruined, clean clothes soaked) to be damaged from the water. Got taken to a different room and was still leaking all around 12:30-2 give or take. I had asked days before if we could get a different room (loudness) and was told no. Will not be getting reimbursed for damages. First vacation that i've told myself i wanted to go back home.

Yelp
This place is AWESOME!!! They don't have rooms, they have SUITES! Huge Suites! And they are really nice! Flat screen tv's overlooking the Jacuzzi tubs, Separate showers, full kitchens w/granite countertops, etc. In addition, they also have FREE breakfast made to order DAILY and they have home-cooked authentic Puerto Rican dinners a couple of nights a week. And right off of the kitchen, dining area, there is a balcony with a few tables where you can sit and catch the breeze while relaxing having a cup of coffee. On top of that, they have a Walmart that's about a 2 minute drive and FREE GARAGE parking. (The last time I stayed in Puerto Rico, I stayed at a beachfront hotel that charged me about $35/day "resort fee" which essentially covered parking, so saving a couple hundred bucks on parking was a great bonus). And free Wi-Fi. And the staff was simply AMAZING!!! They really know how to make you feel at home. The best part - They are REALLY affordable! Now, the downside is that they are NOT beachfront (which is probably WHY they are so affordable). They are located in an neighborhood where there's really nothing too touristy in walking distance, so if you stay here, you'll probably need a rental car. But in the event that you stay here and you decide not to opt for a rental car, they do have a free shuttle that will take you to the beach. I must say that there is something about being beachfront and being able to open your balcony doors and hear the sounds of the ocean, or being able to walk out of your room/suite and be laying on the beach in 3 minutes flat... or laying out on the beach past dark and being safe to walk back up to your room/suite at 9 or 10 PM... and this is some thing the Ciqala does NOT offer. Overall, the Ciqala is still a great budget-friendly boutique hotel with suites that offer luxury that most beach front hotels, just do not have. The suites are much less expensive than the hotels on the beach, they are more spacious, and you'll save money not having to pay for parking/resort fees. You'll also save with taking advantage of the free breakfast there, and get a chance to eat authentic Puerto Rican dinners. Ultimately it depends on what is really important to you. If it was my first time in Puerto Rico, I'd definitely want to stay beachfront. But being that it was not my first time there, I was totally pleased with the time spent there. I'd go back!

Yelp
My 600th Review on yelp!! I got a good deal on this hotel for their presidential one bedroom suite for 2 nights. I was sold when I saw free parking, free wi-fi, jetted tub with TV, and free breakfast. This is a newly established hotel and the building and the interior is very modern and clean. They have garage parking so your vehicle would be secure. Our room is very spacious living/dining/kitchen, laundry room, bedroom, two bathroom (one came with a jetted bathtub with TV), and a closet with drawers. We had a total of three TVs and the kitchen and bathroom had granite counter tops. They give you bath robes too. They also have free breakfast, which is very very yummy. On Monday and Thursday, they have dinner with wine and beers. But the portion is not really big for dinner so do not go super hungry and you might wanna go out for some dessert. There are minor complains 1) They overcharged us for the mini bar. I didn't really feel like calling to fix it since it was only a small change amount. 2) They don't provide detergent and dryer sheets...they are for extra charges. Surprisingly, even coffee and sugar packets also. I don't know how it is in Puerto Rico but that really does not work for American people. Overall, it was a great stay and I would stay at Ciqala again when I am back in PR next time.

For my 31st birthday I decide to take a trip back to my roots, the beautiful Island of Puerto Rico. I arrive in San Juan with a feeling of peace and tranquility in the air, the subtle breeze graces my face ever so gently, the sky is blue, the birds are green, and I am home. I check into my signature suite at Ciqala and walk into a beautiful room, jacuzzi tub, bidet, glass rainfall shower, the works! Located in the heart of San Juan, this place is surrounded by Puerto Rican culture, from the 24/7 bodega ATTACHED to the hotel (THAT SELLS HARD LIQUOR), the food trucks, street vendors, and dive bars all walking distance from the beautiful and lovely Ciqala. Bae and I took lovely strolls in the city, looking at amazingly crafted street art, tasting the local delicacy's and just living life. If you're looking for the real Puerto Rico, please elevate your being and book your stay here immediately!!

Yelp
The staff was so wonderful, courteous, and extremely helpful, so that is the reason that I am giving two stars. The hotel falls short on every level after that. The phone cord was broken; therefore, we could not call room service and had to go to the front desk whenever we needed assistance. The room had a horrible mildew order. It was so bad that we had to but scented candles. The closet had one hanger which posed a huge problem because I was not able to hang my dresses, hence my next issue. The iron was burnt so badly that it was beyond use. We were afraid to use it for fear that it would stain our clothing. No electrical oulet in the bathroom so forget about using your curling iron, hair dryer, waterpik, etc. The refrigerator was small like those used in college dorms, which would have been ok, etc it was stocked with mini bar items. We were not able to add items of our choice like baby formula because there was no space. The shower rod and curtain was only half the length of the shower stall, so I had to shower with my back facing the faucet to keep from wetting the floor. And to make the situation more frustrating: the water flow was so slow that I had to hold it on one section of my body for at least 2 minutes to remove all of the soap. There was a one cup coffee maker, but no complimentary coffee or tea. The dishes and eating utensils were old, dull, stained, mismatched, and scratched up. The hotel is located in a less than eye friendly neighborhood, and not near the beach. Not being near the beach was not a deal breaker for me, but it was frustrating when we got to the beach and was not able to get a spot because every area was designated for the hotels located on the beach. The fitness center had a weight machine that was missing the pin, so we were not able to adjust the weights, the treadmill sitting in the corner collecting dust was not working. Cleaning service came to clean room, left one towel for two occupants. When we requested additional towels, we were told that our towels were being washed. Really? No, extra towels? There was no holder for the toilet paper... So I thought at first. The holder, we discovered, our last day was behind the dingy guest robes hanging in the bathroom that we never touched. (Which were a couple of feet away from the toilet so you would have to rise up to reach the paper.) If you want ice, you have to go to the restaurant on an upper floor. No ice if the restaurant is closed. Located a few miles from the beach and does not have a designated area for its guest, so the guests of the hotels located on the beach occupy all of the space. The staff was wonderful, but overall, this place is below less than ideal.

Yelp
I was nervous when I saw some recent negative reviews but we just stayed here 2 nights and I have no idea what the other bad reviews are about. The staff was wonderful from start to finish, across the board. Friendly and fast valet, free parking garage. We booked 2 nights in the sub penthouse. After our first night, the front desk greeted us the next morning and asked how our stay was going. I was honest, mentioning that we loved our room but that it was a bit noisy outside of the restaurant. We were upgraded to the presidential suite for our second night which was much more peaceful. I never saw an unfriendly staff member. It's true that the elevators are a bit slow but unless you are disabled or hauling a ton of luggage the stairs worked just fine for us. The pool on the roof and the view are gorgeous. We'd totally stay here again! I only wish they put more than one coffee pod in the room per night. Even in the presidential suite where there were 3 bedrooms there was only one coffee pod. A small issue that isn't a big deal considering the included breakfast is delicious and includes coffee.

Yelp
I booked a 1500.00 dollar suite that annealed off mildew, walls dirty , linen wasn't fresh and the host and the owner was beyond rude. Things was so bad even without a refund I booked another unit elsewhere because the place smelled horrible and its in the middle of a ruff neighborhood. Upon pulling up its people outside drinking, shooting dice a and playing domino's. I didn't feel safe and would never stay here.

Yelp
This is a mid-size, clean and well located hotel. All staff are super friendly and bilingual. From here you can get to Old San Juan in 5 min, to Panamerican Port in 3 min, Isla Verde in 10 and the airport in 15 min. The breakfast is well made, specially the omelette, while the menu is small (if you stay long you will have to repeat things...) I recommend this place.

Yelp
First, this place is amazing!! It is close to everything and it was easy for us to get in and out from our hotel room. The only problem I have was the inconvenience of of booking through Expedia. We arrived and Ciqala did not have confirmation or any of our information. But they handled our situation well and gave us a room upgrade until our booking information from Expedia cleared.

Yelp
Disappointing. Hot tub on roof isn't "hot" and has no jets like in the pics. It's like a big soaking tub of Luke warm water. Then the jetted tub in the signature suite was filthy! I did a test run of filling up the tub adding soap and turning on the jets. DIRT started to wash in From the jets.... gonna show management in the morning...as it's too late tonight.

Yelp
Talk about false advertisement- we paid for 2 condo style rooms and ended up in cell block 787 .. it was small and looked nothing like the pictures online. My colleague was given a room directly behind the kitchen and he stated he heard people moving around noisily at around 3-4am. Parking was a nightmare as this hotel is an apartment building repurposed as a hotel- If you're not a local , be prepared to get lost or have a tough time finding it. Staff was ok, breakfast was generic.

Yelp
I was very disappointed with the location of the hotel. Unfortunately there are no close restaurants or bars. The check in process was short was the only positive of my stay. The parking lot was very small and hard to navigate. Music was techno on the roof top even though I asked them to change to Spanish. The towel and robe was dirty. I would not stay again.

Yelp
Visited the restaurant at night for food and drinks and enjoyed it! The pool is tiny - it's more like a "dip-your-toes-while-sipping-on-your-drink" kind of a pool, but a refreshing and cool sight. Was nice to visit a spot away from the beach-side neighborhoods, and there were obviously many locals enjoying the night out. Would come back!

Yelp
We researched the hell out of every single place we could possibly stay in San Juan and finally settled on this place. But, to be frank, we thought that there was no possible way it could be as nice as the photos considering the price. Boy were we wrong. This place is all kinds of amazing. As in, cast yourself as an evil Bond villain, and imagine what your lair would look like, and this is it. Except, well, you don't have to do anything evil to stay in a place like this. On the contrary, instead of having evil minions at your bidding, you have a helpful and courteous staff who do their utmost to exceed your expectations. And exceed our expectations they did. They turned me, a normally evil Bond villain, into a gentle puppy dog of gratitude through patient, warm and attentive service. San Juan is an amazing, magical city, don't get me wrong, but this place made our stay even more amazing and magical than we could possibly hope. Believe the hype: an unqualified five stars

Yelp
I love Ciqala Luxury Suites! Here's why: 1.) It was easy to get to from the airport & close to Old San Juan, the beach, & other attraction. And there's a 24hr convenience store right next door. 2.) Free, secure parking garage (parking is very tight but it wasn't an issue). 3.) Sandra was amazing from the beginning! She was very welcoming, friendly, helpful, & funny....she had us feeling like family! YOU ROCK, SANDRA! 4.) The suite was modern & beautiful. We absolutely loved the kitchen & master bathroom (spa tub with a television). 5.) Free breakfast every morning was delicious. Omelettes, waffles, pancakes, oatmeal, cereal, coffee, orange juice, & so much more (bacon, sausage, muffins, yogurt, etc.) 6.) Lounge area on the rooftop near the pool was cool. 7.) There is only two suites per floor. (Privacy & minimal noise from neighbors). 8.) You get credit when you don't have your room cleaned (which was great because I never use housekeeping while staying at a hotel on vacation). With the credit we reviewed we were able to eat snacks, water, juice from the minibar. 9.) There was free WIFI & the cable had Baby First TV (our baby's favorite). 10.) Best shower head EVER! 11.) Everyone there was so friendly and willing to help. So why only 4-stars? I must be honest, there were a few minor things that could have made it 5-stars: 1.) The doorknob to our suite was lose & wobbly. 2.) Although, the suite was nice it didn't feel warm, the decor seemed cheap & cold. 3.) The television in the living room didn't work thus Sandra came up right away to fix it but that required her to take something from the TV in the 2nd bedroom (so that TV was inoperable our entire stay). 4.) The room wasn't white glove clean. The first day I kept finding other people's hair. Mine is VERY dark & curly but there were blond straight strands in the sink & floor. 5.) The washer in our suite was out of order. BUT when we contacted the front desk they offered to wash our clothes (which I thought was world-class service). 6.) The free tapas was rice & beans one night & it was the worst (very dry & flavorless) so we never went back to use of coupons. 7.) The pool is really cool & a great place to relax or just hang out but it's not big enough for an adult to swim in. But who wants to swim in the pool when you have the beach near by? Overall, great experience! I appreciated the intimate feel of this boutique-like hotel. World-class service! We will definitely be staying here again when we return to Puerto Rico! BTW, they also offer excursion packages that they will arrange for you. They can even make arrangements for transportation to the beach. So awesome! But we rented a vehicle & enjoyed exploring ourselves.

Yelp
Although the view on top is spectacular- I must say this is NOT a four star hotel! The smell of the trash rises and smells through the elevators and stairs! Breakfast was included and they never showed up one day, the other two we had to call! They were an hour late and even had the order incorrect. The room was very small and if you do not like tight space, do not come here! When we arrived the bus stop is next door and there were people smoking pot and the smell was all over the front entrance. The parking space for cars is also small!

Yelp
My family and I spend 5days at this hotel and the people treated us like we were a bother. When we booked they knew we would be sharing a room but wanted to charge us extra because we were sharing a room. The manager was rude and so was the general manager. She treated us like we couldn't possibly have money and was looking down upon us. I have never meet meaner people. They charged 300 of unauthorized charges to our account after we paid for our stay and got the receipt. I called to get the charges removed but the manager wouldn't even speak to me. And when he did speak to me he was mean and would not help me. The food is expensive at the restaurant and it's not that great. The breakfast is decent, the rooms are okay but the bathroom was old and dirty. Honestly wish we would have taken our business somewhere else the neighborhood is not so great either. We are left to dispute charges with the bank because they were not willing to help. I hope no one choses to waists their money here.

Yelp
DO NOT stay at this hotel. The hotel looks like a dump from the outside. The hotel is not in a good area. Do not walk around the area late at night. I got the presidential suite which was okay. Nothing to get excited about. We did not have any robes in our suite. We basically had to call several times just to get wash cloths and towels. The elevator is slow the hotel has a funny smell. The drinks were water down. The staff was friendly. I also got the birthday package which was $80 definitely not worth it. They gave us deflated balloons. I could've went to Walmart and did the decorations myself for less money. The view is a terrible. The rooftop looks nothing like in the pictures. There is no pool. If they consider the rooftop a pool it's not. Its the size of a jacuzzi. I WILL NEVER stay at this hotel again. Definitely not worth it.

Yelp
Great value for the quality! Our room was better than we expected. We had a microwave, stove, refrigerator and a balcony that we couldn't use. The water pressure for the shower was nonexistent. Complimentary breakfast everyday and one free sangria on the rooftop at 6pm, Monday-Friday. The views from rooftop infinity pool and deck are panoramic. The parking garage is tighter than I expected so if you're planning on renting a car, get something small. We rented a Jeep Wrangler and it was quite a hassle but we made it work.

Yelp
The hotel doesn't look like the pictures posted. Really infested with bed bugs, my whole body is covered in bites and when I tried to contact them to resolve the issue the staff was really rude(Chrystal) and the manager was unavailable. They requested pictures, I sent pictures of the bites and the bed bugs and they then proceeded to tell me they don't have bed bugs.

Yelp
Nice small and quaint hotel off the main stretch. It was clean with nice rooms, nice staff. Also not very busy which I liked. Also a lot of free amenities like breakfast, parking and a shuttle to the beach. Definitely would recommend for couples just looking for alone time and a relaxing vacation

Yelp
Tiny and beautifully-appointed. Swanky soft robes hanging up in el baño. Hip design overall! Kind and accommodating staff; we got early check-in which we sorely needed. Walking distance to some fun museums and whatnot. If I get a chance to come back I'll surely stay here again.

Yelp
Friendly, welcoming staff, tasty restaurant, and nice accommodations. We booked Ciqala last minute for a Christmas-New Year's getaway. The first room we got was pretty ok, except for the pull-out bed (thin mattress). I asked for a better second bed, and if they couldn't do that would an upgrade be possible? Anna at the front desk managed to pull some strings and upgrade us to a beautiful suite on the penthouse level at no extra charge! Puerto Rico novices that we are, we wound up getting lost in a rough part of town on our way back to the hotel--phone GPS's are not to be trusted in this area. Each time we called for directions someone on staff was willing to hang on the phone with us and text us the correct address while we meandered our way back. Overall a positive experience.

Yelp
This is a difficult review to write because the staff was incredibly friendly with the best of intentions, but housekeeping was horrible, management was non responsive, and the location is in BFE and is about as safe as south-central LA. At first appearance, the rooms look great, but upon further inspection, it's evident that there was little or no quality control for the final product. i.e. in our "deluxe" room, there was only one available outlet in the entire room to charge our computers, phones, etc; the existing outlets were used for the landline phone, but there was no way to contact the front desk from the phone - it was thus useless; dozens of towels were provided, but there were no hooks or racks to hang the towels once used; the cable TV box was installed with an extremely short cord, so the box was too far back in the console (and thus obstructed) to receive signals from the remote - ironically, the room "instructions" ask that you call the front desk to initiate use of the TV because they anticipated the problem! Housekeeping was horrible in that it barely cleaned the room and actually left the door ajar one day! The staff immediately responded to our concerns, but housekeeping failed to improve the next day. We thus repeated a pattern of having the night crew re-clean our room every day, but then receiving horrible service from the day crew the next day. While the staff was always responsive and helpful, management was non-existent and never responded to our concerns. Simply put, the staff spent all its time addressing symptoms instead of finding a cure. To add insult to injury, the hotel charges a $50 deposit that the staff doesn't tell you about. We only discovered the charge when we reviewed our credit card charges days later. Upon calling the hotel, we learned that the amount would be refunded in 10 days - WTF? These supreme dickholes get to keep our money for 10 days and earn interest without telling us. It only gets better because the hotel then refunded far less than the $50 by fabricating charges from the mini-bar. I finally had to resort to using my credit card to challenge the charge. Did management ever return my calls? Did management ever return my emails? I realize this is a rhetorical exercise, but I couldn't resist. This place is an ethical and moral craphole that should be avoided at all costs. Again, it pains me to say this because the staff wants to do well, but it seems that management is lacking IQ points. Simply put, management is a bunch of retarded monkey spunk. In other words, don't be fooled by the phrase "luxury suites" and don't upgrade for the more expensive and "luxurious" room options. Avoid this place like the plague.

Yelp
As a frequent traveler who never looks for luxury, there is absolutely nothing "luxurious" about this hotel. Upon checking in, we found dozens of hair and pubic hair all over our room floor and in between bedding. They never changed sheets and after complaining to the house keeping, they sent a cleaning person to my room who threw away my only razor i had and left my room wide open for over 9 hours. our laptop and passports were not stolen but it could have happened! Be aware: THIS HOTEL ONLY HAS ONE SMALL WORKING ELEVATOR, between their cleaning crew, restaurant staff, management, guests and just about everyone else who visit the rooftop restaurant from outside (not guests) and you'll spend 20-30 min each time trying to go up or go down. My room was on the 6th floor and numerous times I had to take the stairs to avoid groups of people waiting for their turn. Their pool is size of a hottub and you won't be able to use it in the evenings since their rooftop restaurant is open to public and you'll be the only one in a swimsuit while everyone else is on a date and dressed up to eat! Parking was a no go since it fills up fast and you'll need to find parking street parking. The fire alarm went off for over 10 min one morning at 9 am, the front desk person never answered the phone to let anyone know what was going down! She later on admitted that the incident was completely her fault. Do not ever stay here If you value your time or have any respect for yourself!

Yelp
Have you ever had one of those flights that just drilled down to your last nerve? Well, we encountered that flying into P.R. The flight was late, so we landed at 4am. Arrived at the hotel at 5am. Exhausted and hot!! So, I was on one something fierce!!! Thankfully Ciqala was a short cab ride from the airport. The hotel staff was very understanding and attentive. They didn't blink when I asked for a late check out, they actually asked me when I wanted to leave. Kudos!! I reserved a one bedroom luxury suite through reservations.com. It was a little larger than a regular room with a king sized bed and it had a small dining table, fridge, microwave, etc. It was large enough for both of us. It was on a quiet floor. They offered free wifi. In addition, they served us made to order omelettes for our continental breakfast. We only stayed a few hours. But, what a great life raft! I was able to sleep in and shower without stressing about checking out at the right time to meet our group at the next spot. I appreciate everything they did for us because I was extremely tired.

Yelp
Went there for my birthday. Best value for the money! Free breakfast was amazing! We had a room right below the rooftop pool and the only downside was the construction but that's to be expected as they are renovating and trying to improve the place! There was secured underground garage...it was very tight but manageable. The stands was courteous and on point! We will be pack Puerto Rico and most likely will stay here again!

Yelp
This was probably one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at. 6 of us stayed in the "presidential suite" and it's not worth the money we spent. The pictures of the hotel room are not accurate to what it was. There was hair in the bed, finger prints left on the table and overall didn't look like they did a thorough job cleaning. No one answered the phone at the front desk when we called MULTIPLE times throughout different times of the day. It took them a couple of hours to bring towels up both times we requested them. 1 out of the 2 elevators is broken and the one that does work barely works at that - we had to take the emergency stairs to the 4th floor because the elevator would get stuck and not move. We ordered room service from the restaurant Eter Lounge twice and both times it took almost 2 hours, the food was cold and they didn't bring us our whole order. The website that we ordered the food off of wasn't really helpful and did not help at all with making things easier. The food manager is nice but it shouldn't have happened twice. If it's your first time to PR and you're trying to find a place to stay please find somewhere else!
