Keep in mind this is a review of a Motel in a town of less than 1,000 people. So don't come here expecting a 5 star reviewed hotel like you would in a larger city. The reasoning behind my 5 stars is based on what I expected and what I got. The rooms are small but well maintained. They have been refurnished and are clean. They had two sinks which is nice for my wife to have her own space as she gets ready. The TV had an abundance of channels which was nice for when we returned at night to find something to wash. They had a stocked Keurig with hot chocolate that my kids enjoyed. We paid the extra (reasonable fee) to have our pet stay with us and they included a dog bowl and sheets for the dog. Our interactions with the cleaning staff were also great, they were super friendly and we appreciate happy people. The location is perfect as any other hotel in Escalante for any of your activities in the area.

Booked a room on 16th October through Expedia only to find out that you have to contact them 72 hours in advance in order to get a code. Real convenient when you're travelling. Upon arrival we found out that it was self check in, ofcourse we received no code and both phone numbers were not answered so we stayed at the Prospector Inn across the street instead (real people there and helpfull too). I advise you to go elsewhere than this establishment.

My wife and I stayed here for one night while passing through town. They provide for contact-less check in by providing you the access code the night before your arrival and your room#. This is convenient but I learned the real reason seems to be that there is literally no one on site at the property. You can reach someone by phone, but no one is onsite. I don't know if it is because of the time of year (October) or if it is always this way but be advised. The rooms are clean and the layout includes beds, a night stand and a combo area for a desk, refrigerator, mwave, coffee maker and drawers. The bathroom was clean and the shower was very nicely tiled and spacious. There is everything you need here but it is very basic and dated in terms of furnishings and decor, it is certainly not a four star property so not sure how that happened. Also be advised that at this time of year there are few eating establishments open and the cafe touted in their website is only open on weekends. Not sure if I would stay here again if passing through but frankly there are very few options (maybe two) as this is quite a small town.

This is such an oddly put together place I'm just going to list pros and cons as any conclusion is based on personal preference.||Pros:|*New furniture and TV|*Thoughtful guide books in the room|*Ice maker room that's actually a hidden semi-lounge with more books and things|*Good 24 hr cancellation policy|*Commercial style water spigot outside for filling jugs||Cons:|*Weirdest renovation I've maybe ever seen. New HVAC but it looks like the hole in the wall for it was cut with a chainsaw. New ceiling fan. Bathroom door was original and missing trim pieces. Generally terrible finish construction contrasting with the new furniture.|*No bathroom fan and neighboring RVs look directly in the bathroom window|*Only counter space is a tiny bit on the sink, and the toilet top. No shelf installed on wall though that'd be so easy.|*$160 was quite overpriced considering the quality of the room renovations

As you may know if you are reading this, there aren't just a ton of places to stay in Escalante. We were on a multi-day road trip and this ended up being the best place for us to stop. I was honestly a little nervous because if there was something we didn't like about it, we were stuck. Luckily, no need at all for concern! This motel was in a great location and was very clean. As with most older motels, you can basically back right up to your room (although there are a couple of steps up to a porch area).||The room came with a nice size refrigerator and microwave. There was a newer piece of furniture that had plugs built in, so that was quite nice. The sink was outside the toilet/shower area, which is always nice for a family that is traveling together. ||If I were to be picky, there are only a couple of minor negative things I can say - there's virtually no space around the sink to set anything down. Also, our room could have used an additional trashcan. There was one in the toilet area, but in the main room, there was only a recycle bin, no trash. This may have just been an oversight.||This motel does not have breakfast but they do have a Keurig machine in the room. We slept great here and really enjoyed the room.

We needed a place to stay between Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef and this motel fit the bill. No, it's not huge and fancy, but that's to be expected in a small town. What we got was a clean room that had an updated interior. There was a pub next door for dinner and a cafe for breakfast. Everything we needed at a reasonable price.

Google
Beds and pillows very uncomfortable. Bring your own pillow if staying here. No one on site to check you in…so if you don’t get a code in your email, you’ll have to call and get someone to help you. Would recommend staying elsewhere. Loved Escalante though

Google
Like many others, we were pleasantly surprised at this motel in Escalante. Easy check-in, spacious room. Yes, the room interiors are not posh but -- duh -- that's not the reason for being here. The 4th West Pub was almost next door as a place for a meal. I suppose the best part was the basket full of extra wash cloths and towels for cleaning off dust and dirt -- we had done the horse/mule ride in Bryce that morning and we had a canyon-load of dirt on everything we wore. Thank you!

Yelp
I love this place! Both the motel and the restaurant. This motel might not look all that from the outside. But it just has this cozy and cute vibe to it! From the motel room to the fire pit, to the little decorations around the property, you can tell the owners put thoughts into this place. How do I stay here forever? Hahaha. Next time I'm here exploring Escalante I will absolutely stay here. Oh, try the burger here at the restaurant, it's picky eater certified!

Yelp
Recently renovated nice little hotel with plenty of places to eat and of course some amazing hikes. Room was clean, AC worked well. Plenty of parking. Staff was friendly. Prices were very fair compared to everything else in the area. We would stay here again if we come back this way.

Yelp
We absolutely loved our stay at this small, quaint motel during our 2024 Motorcycle Trip. The AC worked great, which was important. The bed was comfortable. There is a small table and chairs on the shaded front porch which was a perfect spot to relax after a day spent exploring Bryce Canyon. And the next morning we had the best breakfast at the Circle D Restaurant/Destination Cafe. Order the french toast with mango compote with a side of the fluffiest scrambled eggs and you will thank me!

Yelp
Our queen bedroom was so small there wasn't space for even one beside table, so no lamp, clock, or place to set a phone. The floor had no carpeting. There was a tub that couldn't be used as a tub due to lack of a spigot or plug, only a shower head. A noisy wall ac unit to be replaced, I believe, at some point with climate control hvac unit. (Maybe just as noisy?) There was a refrigerator. Housekeeping staff were very nice. Someone else made the reservation so I didn't know what I was getting. This was a very basic room, which would be fine if the rate was $90- $125. But for $962 for 2 nights I expect more. The eclipse was that weekend which was not why I was there, but I guess it accounts for the ridiculous rate.

Yelp
Motel rooms were actually way more than expected, huge for the price. Dog friendly which was a plus! The restaurant was amazing. Staff were super cool, and food was soo good and reasonably priced. From this location, you can easily walk anywhere in the town (bar, grocery, gas station).

Yelp
Really great option for a place to stay in the area. Cody at the front desk was super friendly and accommodating, even let us into the room early. Pet friendly motel, which is nice even if you don't have pets since they you'll meet dog friends in the parking lot! Rooms were clean, includes WiFi, fridge, coffee, and microwave. Communal fire pit available. Walking distance from restaurants and pubs.

Yelp
Circle D Motel is the only dog-friendly hotel in the area, so it's always our first choice. Rates are fairly priced and we can usually fit four people in one room plus our dogs, so it's a great deal when split with friends. They offer free wireless WiFi in all rooms, and all are non-smoking. All rooms come with a microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, and hair dryer. Location is great - Circle D is centrally located in town so you can walk everywhere. It's only 10 minutes from Hole in the Rock Road, 15 minutes to reach Death Hollow Wilderness, and 5 minutes from GSENM. Yelp
I had fish tacos here, and they were good. Not "omigawd amazing" but good. And if you are in the middle of a desert, far from anywhere, isn't that pretty great? Comfortable, air-conditioned place, good service, food came in a reasonable amount of time, and everything seemed clean. Nice place, good place for families. I did not stay here, and only ate at the restaurant.

Yelp
Great location, recently remodeled and a wonderful staff. Pet friendly and walking distance to several local restaurants and coffee shops. Will stay here again.

Yelp
I've been staying in motels for the last month, and hundreds of others too. Circle D stands out for several reasons. I wish they could have a chain so I wouldn't have to stay at another cookie cutter hotel again. There are so many thoughtful touches: the room is stocked with books and flyers on how to enjoy this fabulous setting near Escalante National Monument, they have a recycling trash can in the room, all the soaps are in dispensers so I don't feel guilty about the tiny plastic refuse! it's clean. it was pre-cooled. The internet works! They are building a designated place for smokers and a dog run! I love this place

Yelp
Pretty decent stay! The restaurant is fantastic. We all ordered burgers, the burgers were delicious and meaty (local beef, cooked to your specification), and the prices were fair (equating in it being a small town in a touristy area... they could've probably charged $18; it was $10-12, which is equatable to cheaper Bay Area pricing for a gourmet burger). The room was alright. Pretty normal. We flipped our pillows over to discover some dog hairs stuck here and there -- it wasn't a big deal, but we are both slightly allergic to animal hair (stuffy nose), but what can you do -- at least there were plenty of dogs to gawk at. The patio (?) is nice. Being able to enjoy the outside air in the morning or evening, with a nice coffee or bowl of oatmeal -- that's the life.

Yelp
Free WiFi, great beer and wine selection, 1/2 and 1/3 pound burgers and salads. High and low tables for seating. Pleasant wait staff that can help you with local sites. Great Utah beers. Fries and burgers and awesome!

Yelp
My husband, bro, sis-in law, and I stayed in the motel one night. We had been scheduled for two but we had Jeep trouble and needed to get to the garage in St George for repairs. We were reimbursed for the second night stay. This is great PR. We want to tell everyone how accommodating the Circle D motel was. Thank you for making our stay wonderful and especially for caring about our situation and refunding the money. We will stay at this motel every time we come to town.

Yelp
We have stayed here twice and the second time the owner gave us an upgrade which made our day. Very accommodating and quit for a good nights sleep. The eatery is good and conveniently walked from room. We are retuning to Escalante next month and will stay at Circle D for sure.

Yelp
We didn't stay here, but we were recommended to try them for dinner. I got the fettuccine Alfredo with a side salad. The salad was good (the cornbread croutons were different and delicious). The garlic bread was above par and the fettuccine was delicious, but pretty standard. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. Overall it was a great experience but what put it over the top for this food lover was the gluten free chocolate torte. It was quite possibly the most delicious dessert I've ever had the pleasure of eating. I have no doubt their other desserts are delicious as well. If I find myself in these parts again, I know where I'll be eating!

Yelp
This was the only place that would accept are 100 lb lab. Very clean and a perfect place to rest are dog and us.

Yelp
Checked in and was given a room that was only half cleaned. They did come back and finish cleaning it. The a.c. does not blow cold air and the refrigerator was warm inside. Was offered another room the next day, but we were pulling out of the parking lot to go hiking and did not have time to pack up our room again to move. My card was credited back for half the stay. The electrical outlet for the a.c. has no cover (for anyone with children). The curtains by the bathroom do not block the view out to the camping area, which means they can see in too. And, the bathroom windows are not frosted. I never received an apology, only excuses. Additionally, on day two of the stay, the manager used his key to the room and walked in on me. He did not knock. Still, no apology. I will not ever stay at Circle D again.

Yelp
This would have been a 3-star (good-to-go) experience if our entire stay had been in the more recently updated room that we actually booked. The motel's online booking system allows you to select a specific room, which we did -- carefully -- only to be put in another room once we checked in. The first night we stayed in Room 15. The carpet was dirty, the furniture was dated, the bathroom sink was just on the wrong side of acceptably clean, and the shower and toilet were just on the right side of acceptably clean. The mattress was fine but the linens had seen better days. Overall, it was not a comfortable stay. On the second day we asked to be moved to the room we had originally booked (Room 17). It appeared to have been more recently updated. The floors were laminate hardwood, the linens seemed newer, and the bathroom was spiffier. The mattress was a little springy (i.e., we could sort of feel the springs while we slept) but worked out just fine. The mini fridge and microwave were useful. The hiking guides and other references provided in the room were a really nice touch. Overall, this was a good room at a very reasonably price. If we hadn't been moved in Room 17, our four-night stay would have just been a one-night stay. The more updated room saved the experience and this ended up being a good base from which to explore the area around Escalante without having to camp in 16 degree weather.

Yelp
Nice, clean motel for the price. No ice on the property. You have to go to the restaurant. That was disappointing but something we could live with. Be aware, the one and only grocery store in town closes at 6:00. If you happen to need supplies.
