Arrived in Bergamo and had to try this place despite a couple of dodgy reviews. Walked in about 6pm and were immediately sat at a nice table. My family and I had a fantastic time. Great food (the steak was awesome!), really friendly staff who were helpful on food and wine selections and great fun. We were sat upstairs and we all commented how good the acoustics were for conversation at the table in a reasonably full restaurant by the time we left at about 9:30pm. As for the slightly negative reviews on here… Hey everyone has an off day, don’t let that put you off this great establishment. Cost wise… €170 for 4 people having 2-3 courses each, soft drinks and a decent bottle of local wine to complement the steak. We felt that was very reasonable considering the quality of the experience. We could easily have dined there without deserts and the alcoholic beverages for well under €100

We have the impression that the waiters are bored and seemed to be angry with customers and foreigns. Food was fine, price is fair and we were pleased to be acomodated at the garden. Recommendations: - casoncelli (vegetarian) - mushrooms and some sort of museline Add: a half jug of wine of the house (4 servings) Also, the chicken a la milanesa was taste and fresh

I visited Cirocolino twice with a cousin, and both times were absolutely wonderful! The service was excellent and the food was delicious. Along with the drinks, they serve bread, which is a lovely touch. The pasta, burger, and cheeses are all outstanding! The portions are very generous - more than enough to satisfy, and every bite is full of flavor. I especially want to praise the staff - today, the gentleman serving the cheese kindly looked for a colleague who speaks better English so they could explain the cheeses to me in more detail. That was such a thoughtful gesture and truly made my experience even better. I’ll really miss the flavors of this place! Also, the lady at the register is incredibly kind and radiates positive energy – it honestly makes you not want to leave. Highly recommended!

Very busy spot for dinner special at the weekend. Reservation was needed. We have ordered Rabit with polenta, beef with polenta and two pizzas + bottle of red wine and 2 Coca Cola paid around 80 euros with coperto. We didn’t have to wait long for our order. Everything was tasty. Portion was not to big. If you order only one dish (no starters) you might be a little bit hungry but then you have a space for dessert so overall is good👍

A lot of local people - that’s sign worth it. Very good drinks, amazing view outside (garden), pizza it’s the best in Bergamo, staff very good and doing very well service. Highly recommended. The restaurant filled up in 10 minutes into a full garden of local people. You need visit that if you wanna eat amazing good and have good service and perfect staff.

Google
Great restaurant at citta alta with a lot of local products. They offer a variety of local cuisine, beer, wines, pizza and sweets. When we went it was packed and had quite a wait time, so it was a good thing we had a reservation in advance. The dishes were great and the pizza was very light.

Recommended by an Italian friend — and it certainly didn’t disappoint! Located in the medieval heart of Bergamo, in a building that once housed an ancient monastery later converted into a prison, Il Circolino di Città Alta offers cozy, atmospheric spaces that make for a truly memorable dining experience. We enjoyed an exquisite Italian lunch, with each dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The pizzas were light and crispy, while the Caprese salad featured ripe, juicy tomatoes and a whole mozzarella, perfectly seasoned with fresh herbs. Very reasonably priced. The waiting staff were attentive and polite throughout. A wonderful spot — I’d definitely recommend visiting when in Bergamo!

An elegant restaurant to experience İtalian and Lombardian cuisine. Menu has a variety of meals, desserts and drinks with high quality and delicious taste. Prices are also reasonable. Highly suggested.

Yelp
A colleague from Bergamo recommended this restaurant to us. We sat outside in the courtyard. They were very busy on the Saturday we were there in early November. The weather was lovely and views awesome. The food service was quick. Two entree's bottle of local wine, and dessert for less than 50 euros. This was frankly one of the better meals (among many excellent ones) we had in the Milan area, and one of the least expensive. This is a must stop if you are exploring the upper city!

Yelp
Truly amazing food in the heart of Citta Alta. If you're looking for some real Italian food where locals go - come to Il Circolino! Our friend from Bergamo told us about this place. We came here around siesta time, so when we finished eating, we've realised that no one else is here, not counting us, an owner lady and some really old people reading newspapers. And we still felt welcomed! Interior is really comfy - dark wooden tables and chairs, big bar, where you can drink your espresso and leave, newspapers, old wine bottles, some photos on the walls and a lot of people. True Italian vibes. Menu is in Italian or English. They have variety of Italian goods here - pasta, pizza, main dishes, everything is really tasty and in good prices! We've decided to take a fixed menu for, as I recall, 14 euros, with pasta, main dish and a wine/coffee and water. I don't remember what we ordered exactly but I think I've had something similar to ravioli with ragu and bacon, ahhhhhhh, amazing!!! Main dish was simply big amount of meat with fries or mashed potatoes, nothing too crazy, but tasty as well. Wine - omnomnom. Food is damn good and the whole place is so cute. One of the old guys smiled at me and said "cin cin" when I was drinking my wine. The owner of this place, nice lady, was speaking only Italian, but we somehow managed to talk with her - Italian gestures, "molto bene" and "perfetto" were enough to communicate and leave big smiles on our faces. Grazie mille!

Yelp
Great casual place in the middle of Citta Alta. It is hidden away in a side alley off the main shopping street, but just ask anyone, they know where it is. We had a polenta appetizer, casoncelli, and a pizza. The portions were pretty big. The menu is pretty big too. They have all the classic local and italian dishes. The food was delicious although the place got loud at times, with all the families with small kids. This is definitely a place for groups.

Yelp
Decent, tasty Italian food. Local people around. Good wine. Service is awkward but friendly. If you go there on Saturday better have a reservation or don't go at all.
