We have stayed here a few times. The aparthotel is showing its age, with some stains on the wallpaper. The air conditioning is strong and very cold during 37degree days which is extremely important so you can rest without discomfort. The cookware is newish so no problems cooking. You can loan a rice cooker. We enjoyed our stay and the front desk was very helpful especially Rosina. Our luggage was delivered to our next hotel without problems. Overall i would recommend staying here but i wish they would refresh the rooms.

We stayed here in April 2024. We enjoyed the hotel immensely and the staff was so lovely. I mailed a post card at the near by post office and it was returned to the hotel. The hotel reached out to me via email and asked if I’d like them to resend it to another address. This shows a glimpse of how friendly and hospitable the staff is!The room was clean and definitely a great deal for the price. It was much larger than we were expecting, probably the largest room we stayed in during our Japan vacation. You have the option to opt out of daily room service which we did, but they still bring you new towels and instant coffee every day. There are also washer and dryers in the basement. 3 and 3.

We stayed here for 3 nights during our visit to Kyoto. This was our 4th Citadines stay after Bangkok, Singapore and Tokyo and just like the rest, it was excellent. We needed an apartment style place since we were travelling with a toddler and the room had everything we needed. Stove, refrigerator, utensils, a massive comfy bed that my son really enjoyed and ample space. The service was outstanding. Everyone at the front desk were extremely helpful and eager to help. It was a very pleasant stay at this property and given the great location, I highly recommend it to anyone.

Had a very nice experience here! Stayed for 6 nights. I want to start off by thanking each of the five different staff and concieger for their welcoming presence and helping with umbrella rentals, restaurant reservations, and luggage forwarding. Everyone was super positive, which I would remember the most from my stay here! The location was great as it was close to the subway. The hotel felt secure, especially at night when you needed the key card to enter the premise. There are many amenities within the unit as well as within the building, such as the coin laundry. It was not only affordable but also spacious. There are definitely a lot of good attributes about the hotel. I only have one small (but not impactful) thing, which is that some of the furniture was definitely worn, and the fan in the restroom does not work too well. The room was overall clean with the exception of some hairs between the sheets and the mattress when we first checked in and lifted the sheets to check for any bed bugs. Other than that, I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here and would consider coming back to stay!

Convenient location. Suite style so there's even a little kitchen. Rooms are a good size, but many of things seem pretty old. They replaced the TV with a brand new one on our second night which was nice. Bed is just okay, bedding is quite thin, and the couch feels like it died 10 years ago. Our booking came with the breakfast but I absolutely would not pay for it if it was not included - very basic western breakfast with a couple rotating hot dishes and a small salad and juice bar. Staff are nice and I had no issues with luggage forwarding to the next hotel. Overall somewhat dated, but acceptable.

The room (studio apartment) was spacious but there was poor to no noise dampening as I was able to hear conversations of other occupants in the hallway and housekeeping preparing for their daily morning routine. x3 coined (IC not accepted) washer and dryer available in the basement floor, detergent is auto-dispensed in the washer. No ice machine available. Luggage service available, inquire about service with friendly staff at the front desk.

Excellent service, friendly reception staff. Amenities like razors and dental kits are placed in reception area for guests to pick-up. A complimentary coffee machine is available in the reception 2pm-9pm, but it would be far more useful if it was available throughout the day. On asking, we were provided umbrellas and extra pillows. The kitchenette is too tiny to cook in but utilitarian enough for throwing together semi-prepped meals from grocery stores. The hotel basement has a laundry room with coin-operated machines as well as a water purifier. Unfortunately, the breakfast room is also in the basement- so it is dank and musty. Breakfast is not recommended here. Our room was cleaned daily. The room was larger than most Japan hotels, there was little couch and table. The table showed signs of rust and the bathroom had a bit of mold. Overall, while quite comfortable, the room felt slightly dated.

Great location with a subway stop underneath. Rooms were clean and cozy, refurbished every day. The staff was friendly and helpful. We didn't have breakfast included in our deal, but there is a 7-Eleven across the street and other grocery stores nearby, like Fresco and others. It's a great deal and excellent value for money. We were there for a whole week and felt welcome. There is a laundry room in the basement, which can be handy, and you can pay with an app as well, which is super useful if you don't have spare change. Highly recommended.

Yelp
This is conveniently located near the Gojo station and, if you're in the mood to walk, near Nishiki Market and that bumping' area. It's also near a McDonald's, Yoshinoya, and like five 7-11s, so you're amply stocked. The hotel isn't as... sleek as I thought it would be, but for the price, it is what it is. We spent about $201 on a Premier Studio w a king bed (which I think is two beds pushed together). Room: when you walk in, immediately there is a little shoe closet w complementary slippers for use. Then there is a mini kitchenette, the sink/mirror for washing up, the bathroom (w shower and toilet only), a mini couch and table, the bed, and a carpeted open balcony. The room is a very comfortable size but it is compact and tiny... but I guess that's why it's called a studio and not a shite: lol. You get what you pay for I guess. We came early before 3pm and so we couldn't check in but the staff kindly took our luggage and let us leave it until our return. The hotel overall is quiet and clean. It has everything you need, like bare basics. The room includes a hair dryer and toothbrushes and toothpaste, soaps, shampoo/conditioner, towel, mini fridge, tv, free WiFi, etc. (you can also pick up qtips, shaver, shower cap, and other items from the front desk.)

Yelp
We were traveling with my mother who is picky about eating out. And so service apartment was the way to go. Also, makes the whole trip so much more reasonable. We stayed at Citadine property both in Tokyo and Kyoto. For Japanese standards, it was very spacious. The three of us were able to comfortably share the suite. And the kitchen was well-equipped. And the service was wonderful. The location was also wonderful. Close to a train station and not far from Kyoto Central and so taking a taxi was not super expensive either. Do not hesitate. Just book. This

Yelp
We made a reservation, specifying non-smoking 90 days in advance. The hotel was not cheap, $250/night. At the desk they told us that there were no non-smoking rooms available but that the room had been deodorized. Guess again. After complaint, they found a non-smoking room. Other than that run around, the carpet was stained, the tissue and toilet paper crappy, and no morning (or any other time) coffee available onsite without buying their breakfast buffet. The lobby furniture was dirty as well. We felt that it was quite overpriced and would not recommend staying there.

Yelp
I selected this hotel for two reason - the first is that I spent two months living in the Citadines in Frankfurt, Germany in 2014 and had a positive experience and the second is that this place offers washers and dryers. This place didn't disappoint. I was traveling for nearly three weeks with my wife and kids (9yo & 13yo) and we needed a break in our travel for laundry. I know - so glamorous - but this was the whole reason we selected this hotel over the Westin. The rooms are small, but decent size for Japan. We had two rooms - one with a double and one with a couple twin beds. The bathroom was larger than expected and had tremendous water pressure - perfect after a long day of temples, shrines and the 110% humidity. There was also a small kitchenette for cooking, so overall a room that has a little bit of everything. The only complaint I had was the boy's room reeked of fried fish - I would have complained, but they didn't seem to notice or care - I just made sure I stayed out of their room. The hotel offers breakfast for about $5/person - it's very basic with some eggs, mini pancakes and a variety of pickles and other Japanese items. The hotel is close to a lot of places, so we had breakfast there the first day, but wandered out the other two mornings. In terms of location, it's actually pretty good. Initially, I wasn't so sure, but it's within a 10-15 minute walk to several great restaurants, shopping, and sightseeing. It turned out to be a great home base for us and is literally less than 25m from the Gojo metro station. Lastly, checked out some of my other reviews for great pizza, shabu shabu and a wonderful tour guide.

Yelp
Good location with decently sized apartments for Japan. Located about 0.5 mile away from the Kamo river with a 24 hour grocery and convenient stores nearby. The apartment had a fridge and small kitchen. It was also nice that they had an iron and blow dryer. The staff were quite helpful and they have umbrellas for guests to use. It was kind of pricey though.

Yelp
Friendly, polite, and helpful staff with great English. Our room was on the small side but well-designed and had everything we needed to be comfortable for our brief stay in Kyoto. The rooms are "apartment"-style - so have refrigerators, a hot plate, etc. If you don't need this, you may be able to save a bit of money by booking elsewhere. Location is very good (just steps away from the Gojo station which is on the Karasuma Line and only one stop away from both Shijo and Kyoto stations). Ideally, I think it would be a little better to stay right next to the Shijo or Kyoto stations (as you'd have to transfer less), but this location was nice as it was a bit quieter.

Yelp
Very clean, simple accomodations that worked fine for our Kyoto trip. Great location.
