Citizen Bar

Great atmosphere for a bar in River North. They have an awesome rooftop and great mac and cheese bites. Typical summer beer list. The night we were there for a happy hour, the service was not great; however they were packed. Overall, great location for a summer afternoon.

Great rooftop & large patio. For the warmer months this bar is always a good choice for outdoor drinks. The food is alright, but the atmosphere is what brings people back. What to order: The Corn Chowder Tip: When they have to close the outdoor spaces around 12, make sure you have another plan b/c the inside is super small & gets packed fast once they put the kibosh on the outdoor spaces.

I'm a fan of Citizen! I visited with a friend for one of the first days their rooftop was open and though it was busy, the staff immediately offered to grab stools out of storage to accommodate us. The bartender was sincere and perfectly attentive. The location is decent and scenery from the roof is gorgeous. We parked right outside the front door and just paid the meter a few bucks. This spot is a must for the summer!

Great rooftop bar in River North, and not as pretentious as some of the other rooftop bars in the area. Very laid back feel, even on the weekends. Friends and I were lucky enough to grab a table around 8:30 PM on a Saturday. I just ordered a gin and tonic, and it was sufficient. Also, the bartender was hot.

Citizen is a cool spot. Particularly cool for their outside and rooftop seating. It would be cooler if their outside food and drink menus were the same as inside. They've got great wings. If it's a nice day and your looking for outside seating, I'd suggest a reservation because it's a popular place and gets packed quick.

really cool outdoor patio on the rooftop - perfect for summer. The food is average and the drinks are too, but its a fun spot for locals or tourist. Great for bar hopping and especially planning a party!

The downstairs is pretty plain-Jane...but the rooftop is sweet! I showed up for a group function and didn't leave the roof for hours. Sure there are higher rooftops with better views, but you still get sun, drinks, and fellowship at this one, so why not!?

Citizen Bar is a pretty cool bar, with a great setup both inside and outside (they have a street level patio as well as a rooftop patio), however my experience there was only okay due to the wait staff. I will say that I'd give it another chance, as you never know what you're going to get with a waitress, as ours may have been having a bad day. Who knows. Not my place to judge. However she did forget to bring drinks that we ordered (but remembered them well enough to put them on the check). In fairness, she was kind enough to take them off the check without any argument.
