STEPH JUDGEMENT: Fun, artsy, modern hotel with great location.
This hotel turned out to be great for our 4-day stay in Boston. Located in the West End area, it was right next to the TD Center, which had a train station, and was within walking distance to many notable sights (Freedom Trail, Faneuil Marketplace, Boston Common, etc). The main lobby was on the 4th floor, and it's one of those newfangled high-tech (read: not a lot of staff, but it does seem to keep the costs down) hotels where you check yourself in at one of the many iPad kiosks and receive a code for your door. Each room is supposed to have an IPad to control stuff in the room (lighting, shades, etc), but we were missing ours when we got in. We alerted the staff, who said just install the app on our phone, which worked fine, but we still felt we had to let them know because we didn't want to get blamed for the missing device.
The room was small but functional, with a small fridge tucked under an equally small sink. The bed was pushed against the wall under a large window, which meant one person had to climb over the other to get in/out. At least it was good-sized and comfortable. Our door to the enclosed shower/toilet area didn't close completely, which was annoying. We liked the shower fixtures and their bath products, but noticed that there was some bubbling on the shower floor. We also enjoyed the electric window coverings and fun light options. We were on the 11th floor and had a gorgeous view of the city. No ice machines, though--we had to go down to the lobby to request, whereupon a person gave you a bucket full of ice.
The common areas were super-cute, with lots of fun, humorous, and artsy touches, and I loved the communal ironing room, lol. I guess the idea is that the rooms are just for rest and if you want to lounge and hang out you'd come down to these common areas, which also had a bar and served breakfast (for a price). The TD Center next door had a decent food court, and there were plenty of restaurants and bars nearby so we didn't really miss a hotel restaurant. Overall we had a pleasant stay, and would consider staying here again.
