I have now stayed at two CitizenM hotels (and am heading for a third this week). They are unique and a total pleasure. The modern, bright, expertly-designed rooms are compact but have everything you need for comfort. The beds are a dream and the shower is strong and hot. The living rooms and CanteenM create an environment in which you can work, or unwind in the company of the friendly staff and other traveliers. Prices vary - at times they can be surprisingly low -- but even at the high end they are reasonable given the lovely facilities, convenient locations, and congenial, knowledgeable staff. A real treat!

Second time at this hotel and we absolutely love it, will always stay here when we come to Glasgow! The rooms are amazing and everything is controlled by an iPad which is super handy and convenient, bed is HUGE and extremely comfy too. The staff are all lovely including reception, behind the bar and housekeeping/maintenance, specifically Jamila (bar staff)! I loved chatting to her it honestly felt like chatting to a friend☺️ we always look forward to coming here and the location is just perfect!! Only downside is the lifts can be very slow which was made worse by one of them not working this visit but these things happen!

Rooms were a bit small, exactly the width of the length of a king-size bed, which is up against the window at the far end. Might be a bit tight for two people. Everything except in the bathroom is controlled by the iPad provided. Bit of a strange experience. But very comfortable and the buffet breakfast was excellent.

Can't complain with the view from the bedroom. I liked the extra features with the iPad controlled room for the blinds, lights etc. The bed was super comfy and absolutely huge! Slept well. The 24/7 cafeteria is a nice touch with plenty of food options available. A little pricey but a few lovely stay with plenty of social spaces.

The hotel is in a perfect location, surrounded by everything you could need, ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy. The rooms were spacious and very clean, with thoughtful touches like the iPad that controlled the lights, curtains, and more—definitely appreciated. The view from the room was also fantastic ensuring our wants were met. Throughout our stay, the staff were consistently friendly and helpful, always greeting us with a smile no matter the time of day. The only minor issue was that one of the elevators wasn't working properly, but the staff quickly resolved it by directing us to another that worked perfectly.

The location is excellent but the overall experience was a major disappointment. The rooms are very compact, almost like a prison cell, feeling claustrophobic and stuffy. Lack of a fridge is notable and it was surprising that the main BBC channels were unavailable on the TV. One of two lifts were permanently unavailable, leading to very long waits. For what I paid, value for money was abysmal and I would not recommend staying here.

Two night stay. Deal via Booking.com made hotel good value. Hotel has everything that a short stay visitor might want. Even had a big building site in the rear (reason for the deal???) Good position for city centre and also for transport links. Would recommend to anyone but ensure that they know that the hotel is not a traditional style.

Great location right near the Buchanan Bus Station and a less than 10 minute walk to Glasgow Queen Street Train Station. Lots of lounge space on the ground and first floor. Bonus 24/7 food and snacks (although don't expect the whole dinner/bar Menu to be available late). Staff were friendly, however disappointed with no information at the front desk about the lift being out of order during our stay and having to use the staff elevator (information could have easily been provided at check in). Rooms are ultra-modern and furniture is plastic and Ikea-like. If you are travelling as a couple or sharing a room, do not expect any privacy in the washroom. There are plastic, frosted walls - the toilet and shower is more like one large shower stall. Hotel uses an excessive amount of technology - everything in the room is controlled by an iPad - climate, TV lights, blinds, cleaning service requests. I personally do not want to wake up and screw around with how to turn the lights on and open the blinds on an iPad before my morning coffee (not to mention fumbling around trying to find my glasses to get myself sorted). Technology for the sake of technology. Breakfast is definitely not worth the 17 Pounds!!! I would suggest a short walk with much cheaper options. Breakfast is basically a continental buffet with some hot options and one tea or coffee. Bar is reasonably priced and comparable to other places nearby.

Yelp
I stayed here for a night with my sister for my birthday and I would highly recommend. It is pricey but the decor is fabulous, the drinks and atmosphere is fun, the rooms are small but the bed is huge and so so comfortable and I love how your able to operate the tv and blinds using a tablet, the tv is big at the end of the bed so a comfortable way to relax and watch a movie. The shower area is frosted glass so your silhouette is on full show so be aware of this. The staff here are so lovely and welcoming and helpful and we had such a wonderful stay and would 100% stay again.

Yelp
4 & 1/2...I was very impressed by my stay at this hotel and based of my experience here I would be likely to keep an eye out for other Citizen M properties in my future travels and can see why the brand and unique concept is apparently developing a loyal and cultish fan based. The fact that it was actually technically the lowest cost option in the area, while being markedly superior to any of the more expensive nearby options we had stayed in on previous visits to town is pretty remarkable. The room, while certainly small, is extremely well designed and furnished serving to make it appear and feel much larger and more spacious than it is. Its also extremely updated, with a smart tablet operating everything in the room, from the massive window offering a commanding view of the city center outside that can be blacked out completely with the touch of the button, to the modish colored lighting fixtures that our visiting toddler nephew had a ball changing the colors of with the tablet. Only thing I found odd was the lack of usb outlets in the room, which seemed very incongruous with the tech-forward vibe and aesthetic. Beyond the room, the location is pretty ideal, smack in the city center and a quick jaunt to the central train stations. Be forewarned the area can be a bit rowdy outside on the weekend nights, but I would argue that is a key part of the true Glasgow experience. The staff is vey courteous and professional, check in and out was very streamlined and painless. The bar and cafe area is very well stocked with an assortment of thoughtfully chosen and well priced items to purchase and the place is awash in a ton of massive co-working like spaces on the ground floor which would be a dream for any digital nomad who no doubt make up a core contingency of this brands clientele base.

Yelp
Citizen M stands for Mistake. Not sure who came up with this concept. It's basically a hostel concept. Rooms are the size of a small stateroom on a cruise ship. No closet, no place to place your suitcase other than the floor. Room lights and tv run off an ipad . In our room they could. It get the TV to work. The lady on the phone was. Wet nice but said they were low on staff to help. Later that night we were at the bar only to find out the lady that was serving us at the bar was the same lady that was trying to fix our tech problems. If you are all alone, this hotel might be ok, but multiple people you will be falling over yourself. Next day, ok so still weird , but the people working here are the highlight . Very sweet employees who do want your stay to be nice. Raising another star for them.

Yelp
I had been to citizenM Hotel several times but only for meetings and when Yelp Glasgow held a special event, Yelp: Less Business, More Pleasure, in societyM back in 2012. I had always wanted to stay and when I found out that the Bafta Scotland Awards Ceremony was to be held just along the road, I thought this is the perfect opportunity to stay and become a citizen. I also wanted to make it more special as now I am newly-wed and only recently got back from my Honeymoon. I thought it would be nice to continue with a cheeky mini-moon. I messaged citizenM and explained that I would like to surprise my new husband as we celebrated our mini-moon. They did explain that they may not be able to depending on busy business is and also they cannot leave alcohol in the room, which I can completely understand. The citizenM Ambassadors emailed me back and asked for a wee bit of information about ourselves and I explained how we met working on Avengers: Infinity War in Edinburgh and that we had an Avengers themed wedding. Well, they absolutely blew us away and they surprised us with our own wee Avengers themed Earth-616 main Marvel Universe just for us. It was so much fun, you could tell whoever decorated enjoyed this and knew there Avengers characters. The room is intimate but was just perfect for us with all the mode cons. The room's lights, TV and blinds could be all controlled by an iPad. It was such a novelty and we loved our stay. The Ambassadors (the staff) really looked after us. Even the night Ambassadors who looked after us when we got back from our evening at the Baftas. They showed us their evening bar menu and my husband chose a couple of mini pies. He is still raving about those wee pies. Hehe!! We had an awesome stay and absolutely loved all the thought, time and attention to the detail for our Avengers themed mini-moon. We can't thank the Ambassadors enough and we both can't wait to stay again.

Yelp
I had a two nights stay at this funky little hotel. I don't mind the small room coming from NYC. First, I discovered a bunch of brown spots on my towel after I used it to dry myself. GROSS! At least I was using the other side. Tried to call the front desk but the phone didn't work. Someone showed up at the door. I explained to him what happened, he offered me a different room but I said just removing dirty towel would be fine. Second, I opted out for room cleaning for such short stay. (So some girls somewhere can ride her bike). So I spread out the comforter in the morning and I discovered one brown dot on the top side. At least it was on the far end. Third, I saw molds in the shower grout. I don't usually leave reviews but 3 strikes is a bit much. Hopefully they will do a better job in keeping the place clean.

Yelp
I first discovered CitizenM in its birthplace: Amsterdam. After a visit to its Scottish outpost in Glasgow, I decided it'd be the perfect spot to take my team for a few days of meetings. Perfect for business travel, this small chain of expertly efficient hotels appeals to me on so many levels. Of note: #Frette linens. The CitizenM may be a cheap hotel but you won't know it when you're between their sheets. Typically found in the world's top hotels, these sheets put the lux in luxurious. #24 hour canteen. The food's nowhere near top notch but it's amazingly convenient to be able to get some seaweed salad or sushi at any time of day or night. #Lynchburg lemonade. A funny beverage to sip on in Glasgow, to be sure, but after one in the CitizenM bar I was hooked and made it my drink of choice for the rest of my stay. And like the room rates, the drinks here are affordable. #Films galore. Ever want to curl up in bed after a long day (or night) and watch a movie? They've got a huge on-demand selection here and they're all free! #Cheap international calls. If you've ever tried to stay connected across multiple continents using Skype and the like you understand how frustrating it is to carry on a conversation via weak wifi. Next to your bed at CitizenM there's a phone and unlike other hotels, this one's totally affordable (pennies, people!) to make calls from. #Walkable. The property's in walking distance of the train station, should you plan to arrive by rail. And you can easily get to restaurants and shops on foot from here. #Self check-in. You don't have to wait for the dude in front of you to ask his million and one questions of the front desk attendant. Just pop your details in the computer, code your own room key and get on with your life! CitizenM's learned a lot with two hotels in Amsterdam and made marked improvements in the Glasgow property (case in point: the toilet/shower situation, which is much better here as it affords one far more privacy). I dream of a day when CitizenM is in every city I visit.

Yelp
The concept of this hotel has convinced me. In fact, this is truly a hotel where the developers have pondered successfully about the needs of the modern traveller: free wifi (to be able to connect), free movies (to be able to de-connect as well), very reasonable prices (I paid £59 per night), as well as a common space in which you feel comfortable enough to strip of your shoes and feel right at home! Somehow, I was expecting that because of the whole online-booking and self-check-in, this hotel would be a soulless and unfriendly place, when in the staff was more cheerful and helpful than most people at other hotels, where service is being included in the room rate. Anywhere I would go, I would be greeted by a smile and at no point in time did I feel disoriented or not welcome. Shortly after my check-in, my Glaswegian colleague and I had ordered coffee and we where ready to sit down at the lounge area with views of the busy Glasgow streets. It then dawned on me that my laptop was out of juice and that I would need an outlet...right now! And this is where the CitizenM really gained bonus points with me, because this powerlessness of mine was a good way to "test out" their ingenuity and forward-thinking: bending down I was greeted by multiple outlets...as if they had read my mind! And, this is not even the climax of my story: they even provided the sort of outlets that the rest of continental Europe uses! Now, that's what I call good thinking! Oh, before I forget to mention it: in the evening I was watching a free movie from the comfort of my spacious bed ("de-connecting", so to speak) and it was then that I realised that even the adult movies are free...now that's what I call free-spirited! (America, you prude, look up and take notes!) A last note: With all its cleverness and coolness, this would not be a place where I would recommend spending a honeymoon, but for people who are looking for a place to stay while on business or while visiting Glasgow as a tourist, I can absolutely recommend this hotel.

Yelp
Everything about this hotel screams 'engineer's wet dream'. From the automated self check-in to the singular remote that controls -everything- in the room*... I can't imagine a more pared down, utilitarian crash pad than the citizenM. Speaking of crash pads... the beds at this boarding house are immense. Like, you could sleep two of me and have room to spare. Three might be pushing it, but if there are hot enough hunks willing to test out my theory, drop me a line. Other thoughtful accoutrements worth noting are the free wi-fi**, the rainfall shower heads (which I luuuuurve), and exceptionally soft/plush bath towels. The latter might be explained away by the recency with which this branch of the Amsterdam-based hostelry opened. Last, but not least... be sure to drop by canteenM for a drink whether you're visiting or sleeping here. They brew coffee that's more than acceptable, and have some cocktail recipes worth stealing. What more could one ask for in a place of lodging? -- * I will note, however, that the technology has failed me on more than one occasion. Sometimes the remote device takes upwards of five or ten minutes to spin up - that's a long time when you're trying to change your bathroom light from blue to 'disco dance party'. ** For whatever reason, my Mac wasn't fond of staying connected to the wi-fi. I ended up having to turn off automated DHCP and set my IP manually in order to get a stable link. YMMV.

Yelp
Love love love this chain. I really do. By far one of the best Citizen M locations. Self-checkout is a breeze and a wonderful time saver. The lobby and decor in common areas as well as the rooms is absolutely brilliant and beautifully designed. The rooms are small almost how one would imagine a space capsule yet roomy at the same time. Very modern. The bed is large and fluffy and comfy with wonderful pillows. I love the glass enclosed shower with colourful lighting that changes. It really is a luxury hotel in every sense of the word except, thankfully, it's not pretentious and it's affordable.

Yelp
A very futuristic and personalized hotel. The only complaint is at check in where the system is very highly automated. So, if you get there a little early the system won't check you in. I was luckily coming in from Edinburgh, but if I was just off the early plane, I would not have been thrilled. All sourness aside, this is an excellent and comfortable place to stay. The room is very cool with everything being controlled by the ipad. I am in architecture and the intelligent e-home system they have is very good. You are able to customize lighting temperature, shades, blackouts, tv, alarm, and a countless number of other things incrementally. I do wish there was a nightlight feature so you do not have to blind yourself at 3am when you need to get up to go to the bathroom. The room is quite dark with the blackout shades and it would be useful. The bed was spacious and comfortable. I am 6'4" and had plenty of space. I am not one for a million pillows, but if I had my wife there, we would have only had one each. The shower was pleasing and you have the option for a rainfall or a shower wand. The 24 hour lounge is a godsend. I came home at 4am starving and dehydrated from a photo shoot and was thrilled that I had friendly faces greeting me with drinks and crisps. It was very calming. The breakfast could be a bit pricey at £14. Be sure you eat a lot for it. The food was tasty though and there is an excellent selection of tea. The seating is very communal, but offers enough privacy since there are many break out areas. It seems like a lot of people come and do work in the morning with their tea. Check out they sometimes do not have a till, so you cannot use your left over pounds to pay for your expenses so you are stuck with them until you come back to Scotland. Oh well.

Yelp
The hotel is clean, functional, very comfortable and brilliant value for money. (£80 per night per room) The overall design concept is well put together and each element has had a funky design applied. Yes, most of it is novelty and slightly unnecessary but its great for a few nights stay as not many want a disco shower or jungle animal noises as their morning alarm everyday. The bedrooms are small narrow pods with huge beds and basic amenities. The lobby and communal areas are large and well laid out with lots of interesting seating and great books to browse. There is a computer/printer area with four mac desktops with free wifi. The hotel is a couple of hundred yards from Buchannan bus station and is also situated right across from the Pavillion theatre and cinema. If you are driving there is no car park at the hotel but Cambridge Street secure car park is just 100 yards round the corner. There are no family rooms so mainly child free. A plus if you ask me!

Yelp
I truly can't say enough good things about CitizenM. I got COVID while visiting Scotland and had to quarantine here, and the wonderful staff took such good care of me. They went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable as I isolated, bringing me extra treats, kind notes, and complimentary tea and coffee. They also helped me navigate the healthcare system in the UK - from helping me contact NHS when my symptoms were especially bad, to helping me find a doctor who could prescribe medication that I didn't pack enough of (special shout-out to Rhona!!). Thank you to the incredible front desk team: Claire, Anna, Rhona, Nina, Roxy, Scotty, and everyone else, I'm so grateful to you all. Also the room was really nice and clean, I somehow didn't feel claustrophobic at all despite not being able to leave until my quarantine ended. I loved the color changing light and appreciated the ease of controlling the room with the app and provided iPad. Thank you so much again, I hope to visit again under better circumstances :)

Yelp
While our experience at the Canteen at CitizenM was excellent, with a fantstic bartender who made solid cocktails and gave us a great restaurant suggestion, the same can not be said of our stay at the hotel itself. I love staying in quirky, modern hotels, which is why we picked CitizenM as accommodations for our trip to Glasgow for our friends' wedding. We'd seen reviews stating that the rooms were a little small, but we live in San Francisco and have stayed in small hotel rooms before, and thought the generous public spaces would make up for the small room size. Our room had a lovely city view, and the advertised extra large bed. The bed is up against the window, which means whomever is sleeping on the window side of the bed has to crawl over their partner to get into/out of bed, which will wake them up in the middle of the night. The bathroom is partitioned out of the room, with the shower enclosure a frosted glass facing the bed. If you are in the room, you have a front row seat to everything going on in the bathroom, as there isn't any soundproofing either. The primary storage space is an under the bed drawer, intended for opening your suitcase and leaving it in there to act as your dresser. This works well if you have a small cabin rolling bag, but not for larger suitcases. The hanging clothes space included three hangers, which was perfect for the amount of space for them. It was not enough space for our week's worth of clothes including our wedding garb. The website promises an "international plug system". I expected this would mean either USB chargers built into the wall or some sort of universal plug. In practice, it meant there were a number of international wall sockets, but not one for U.S.plugs. I called to ask if the hotel had something to address this and was told there were adapters for sale in the Canteen (there was a very pricey box of international chargers for sale there). After one night's sleep, and not finding a way to make the room work from the standpoint of having a place for our things or being able to both get ready at the same time, we made the decision to check out and go to another hotel. Unfortunately for me, I'd paid for the room--and the daily breakfast--in advance. And the staff member who managed our early checkout informed me that we would not be refunded for any of it (even though we would not be eating our week's worth of meals). If the hotel was otherwise fully booked, I can see their not refunding our room as they could have possibly missed out on a reservation (although the hotel was not full, and there aren't different room classes), but the breakfast charge? Ugh. If you are looking for a hip, modern hotel, and are traveling alone, for a short visit, with minimal luggage, this may be a good choice for you. But as a couple looking for a home base for a week, it simply was not a good fit.

Yelp
So here's a review update after staying here for a night. Overall, I really can't fault anything - it's a great hotel and if you know what to expect (compact rooms which you should only share with someone you really, really love) then you won't be disappointed. The only gripe I have is the price - we paid £130 for a one night stay (room only) and compared to other hotels in Glasgow, I think that's too expensive. We booked online and you get the option of paying in advance. We were really early to check-in and didn't expect to be able to access our room. It was nice that a room was ready at 11am. The rooms are small with an awesome square bed which is super comfy and feels massive. I love the TV right at the end of the bed as I have terrible eyesight so I can pretty much enjoy it without glasses which is a big win. There's a good selection of free movies but a terrible selection of radio stations. The bathroom/shower room doesn't feel private at all so that's why I recommend only staying here with someone you really love... it could be super awkward otherwise. I love the tablet/iPad to control the lights, TV, music and blinds - this is definitely a super fun aspect of staying here. We visited the bar/canteen area looking for something for late night eats but none of it really appealed so we went to a restaurant nearby (Banana Leaf). It is a cool bar to hang out in though (see earlier review). I got a really good nights sleep and found it really comfy but Graeme commented that he'd have liked another pillow. Check out at 11am is reasonable and you can pay for later if you want (but we wanted brunch at Wilson Street Pantry so were happy to leave). Like I said, this is a great hotel and is good for somewhere to crash for the night but there's some seriously nice hotels in Glasgow in the same price bracket, so I really think this should be under £100 per night for me to stay here again.

Yelp
A small update, now I've stayed here for the night. My original review still stands, the bar is possibly one of the best places to go in the City Centre if you want a quiet, comfortable drink, and is a bit of a hidden gem in my book. The missing star for the room is probably due to the fact that we paid a stupidly high price for the room, and for the money we could have got a bit more luxury. The room itself is pretty comfortable, as long as your happy with their particular design and layout. The key things are good: the bed is comfortable, the blinds keep the room dark at night (this is absolutely key for me), and the shower is good. There isn't much space in the rooms, and the opaque wall for the bathroom is either going to be something you love or hate, but if you're on your own or sharing with someone you love then you get used to it pretty quickly, although it might lose it's appeal if you're there for an extended stay. The media centre is a nice wee bonus though, and the free movies are a great bonus. Get it at the right price, and if you're in step with the look and feel then it's somewhere you'l love. Just remember to spend some time in the bar...

Yelp
I love this hotel. It's not the fanciest hotel--butlers do not cater to your every move, and you won't find truffles on your pillowcase. It's not going to get however-many stars from the Leading Hotels of the World and foreign princes probably aren't going to choose it. However. It is awesome. The decorations, lobby, and check-in process are super modern and cool. Your room is small, but functional. The bed is comfortable. Very comfortable. The shower light changes colors (and not in a tacky way). The room, thought smaller than many of the other rooms I stayed in throughout the UK, felt larger because the space is used more effectively. This is a fantastic hotel for travelers: they put money into the things that are important to us--beds, showers, a nice tv, great pillows, etc. My one complaint? The sink is very small. VERY. For anyone who uses any sort of product when they get ready in the morning, it would be a little bit of a dance to figure out how to put things out without making a mess.

Yelp
Citizen M blew me away, it was only £59 per night but yet managed to deliver one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. The rooms are small but the overall hotel experience was fantastic. They had Eames chairs in the lobby (they are probably the most comfortable chairs in the world) and I used them to work from the lobby for a couple of afternoons. I'm now convinced I need those chairs to be productive. The rooms, while small are comfortable. The entertainment system was great with a wide selection of on demand movies and a lighting system that allowed you to change the colors of the lights from the remote. The bed was very comfortable. The service was top notch and the bar stayed open late and food is available 24 hours a day from the kitchen area.

Yelp
Our overnight stay in Glasgow meant we needed a hotel. My wife found a deal on CitizenM at £75 for the room and booked it. I think that actually represents good value for city centre hotels in Glasgow, though their usual room rate of £130 would test me slightly. We arrived and tried to check in, why is it with auto check ins there is always some technical glitch. The staff there were helpful and got the booking done, but on arrival at the room the manual check in meant the keys hadn't been activated and although I found a cleaner to let us in I had to go back downstairs to get them activated. Not as smooth as I would have liked to be honest. My wife had requested extra shower space as I am 6'5 and she thought the usual pods may have been a little cramped. This meant we were given a special access room and I would hate to think someone lost out but the extra room was great and the space in a full stand under shower makes the difference really. The room wasnt too small either, I am sure some of the others are more bijou but this one suited us very well. A full iPad Mini control set up for the TV meant my wife had Magic Mike XXL on the TV within minutes. Well, she was going to go to Deadpool later so I guess this was fair trade! The iPad controlled the lights, blinds, everything! This is the way of the future and I loved it. Strange there was no BBC Scotland on the channel list though, this is odd. They advertise as having free wifi over the whole hotel but I couldn't find it. Having said that, most of Glasgow is a 4G hot zone now so that isn't the same pressing issue it was a while back. The bed was huge, we asked for two extra pillows and they were delivered promptly and were very nice ones too. The room a decent temperature but again you can adjust that to your needs through the controls as well. Mood lighting too, they have put some effort in here. After our cinema visit we went to the bar and I ordered a pint and her a wine. At the table she tried the wine and thought it awful, simply a bad choice. I took it back to the bar and said she didnt like it and they simply exchanged it without charging. I think that is excellent customer service really as they didn't have to and I was fully prepared for the "Sorry but she asked for it" sort of line. They didn't and I took back a fresh wine. Our sleep was about what you would expect in a hotel and the shower in the morning good and refreshing. One gripe I did have about the bathroom is the layout of the toilet to the sink. As I said I am 6'5 and the sink was so close to the toilet that during morning oblutions (apologies to Big Bang Theory) I couldn't actually sit straight on the toilet, making it necessary to sit at an awkward angle. The soundproofing to the outside isn't great, traffic noise came through clearly. This is always going to be an issue in a centre hotel but it did seem a little too loud really. There is a 24/7 cafe so you can eat and drink whenever. The whole place is very modern and trendy without going over the top. I hope the concept holds and the support is there as they offer a more modern way of doing things that suit more and more travellers these days.

Yelp
Had a two night stay at the Citizen M Glasgow. The tiny room had a huge bed, reminded me of a cruise ship cabin. Room lights, temperature, blinds and alarm clock are controlled from your bedside iPad. As mentioned in other reviews, the shower toilet are encased in a frosted glass cocoon. Worked for us, but if two friends are traveling maybe not (?). A comped welcome drink in the 'living room' was a nice treat after a long flight. We purchased the breakfast a la carte, the in-house muesli with dried fruit was wonderful, with a strong cup of tea it was all we needed. On the ground floor there is meeting space, as well as a very cool 'lobby' area with comfortable seating and work spaces. The decor, the technology and, most importantly, the service sold us on Citizen M. This property is a great value, it has a young modern vibe. It is not for someone who is looking for a stuffy old school opulent experience. If you require room service and spacious surroundings this may not be your place, but we loved it. With that said just checked Manhattan NYC prices, double that of Glasgow, to be expected. On day two we ended the day at the hotel bar, James made a fabulous coconut espresso martini, it was delicious. The staff here is great as are the cocktails!! Apparently locals stop in for drinks before/after events so that is a good sign. Hated to checkout!

Yelp
I have stayed at this hotel on two occasions now and have always been impressed. This is a stylish and quirky hotel. The remote control for the tv basically controls everything in the room from colouring of your lighting to suit your mood, to your blinds open and closed. It has good variety in tv channels and free movies. Wifi is supplied free of charge. The hotel room has a good selection of wall sockets for eu customers, also the hotel has a hair dryer supplied and ironing facility at the end of the hall. Plus has a free safety deposit box For people staying for longer durations than two days there's not a lot of storage for clothes ect. The main lounge in the hotel is very modern and creates an interacting environment. You will have loads of fun with checking out the different seating areas with a cold beverage.

Yelp
Citizen M is the Ikea of hotels: modern, stylish, functional and colourful. Much like those funky furniture makers, Citizen M also likes a bright and bold approach, with everything in its place and clever design behind it all. Don't be fooled into thinking the slick surroundings make for an uncomfortable stay - far from it. I have no idea of the exact dimensions, but the giant bed spans wall to wall, is a perfect square and is amazingly comfortable. While everything is designed with style in mind, the crafty creators have also kept comfort in mind, with the big marshmallow of a bed, changeable room colour to suit your mood and a soothing rain shower. The bar is also really cool and many people come here just for drinks, to enjoy the stylish surroundings and hang out in the hipster hotel of the moment.

Yelp
If you're looking for a place to stay that won't cost you a fortune and has the most attentive, helpful, genuine staff at any hotel I've ever stayed at then the citizen M is a perfect choice. There's no kettle in your room but there's the biggest, most incredible bed, free wifi and a rain shower. All rooms are the same so some people find that the novelty after the first stay wears off but is something I like about it. I always know exactly what I'm going to get. Plus by signing up as a 'citizen' I get 15% off my stay every time and a free drink when I get in. It's also a great location in Glasgow to get to the shops or the bars. Expensive if you book close to your stay date but you can get nights for around £60 if you book in advance. Have stayed 5 times and will no doubt stay again.

Yelp
I've never stayed in Citizen M but I can tell you, I love this space so much! The lounge area both downstairs and upstairs are open to everyone! Which is great! Anyone can come in with their laptop, sit in some amazingly designed modern interior and work away on their laptop. They also have a cafe and bar on both floors so if you need a drink, you can get some from there! The wifi is open and SUPER quick like wow. So happy that we can use it! Makes working a lot easier and less stressful as there're rarely any "buffering" problems. They also have tons of plug points so fret not when the laptop is at 7%. Service is great. The staff members are usually available and busy cleaning or preparing food/drinks but they are super friendly and accommodating. Great space and I'm super glad they open it to the public! So remote workers like me can turn up and pretend like I own an amazingly huge and fancy office studio. Sigh, I can dream right? Hehe

Yelp
First..the hotel just rocks it out in very solid fashion. Modern clean, good food, loads of tech. Even so..it's the amazing staff that makes this a five star experience. Special shoutout to Keir! You and the rest of the folks are the Rad Bomb! That's a good thing. I travel a lot and if there is a Citizen M ..that will be my first choice. I can't say enough about this place but THANK YOU for making my first trip to Scotland be one to remember! Celeste G

Yelp
I love a good moan... So here we go! This has to be one of the weirdest hotels I have ever stayed in. I don't really know where to begin. After a week here I was really happy to be back at home. So where shall I start? I get it. I really do. This is a vending machine of a hotel. It's DIY. You check in yourself. You make your own bed. You set your own wake up call. You choose your mood lighting in the room. It's simple, and yes it's budget. £59 a night in the heart of Glasgow is pretty amazing. But, I'd rather pay a little bit more to get a person greet me, make my bed, be at reception if I need something and so on. It's a hotel. Not my flat. I found the whole breakfast thing confusing too. It was a set £9.95 price, even if you just wanted beans on toast. Finally, towards the end of the week I figured out that I could have as much toast as I liked and that was free. I don't mind paying, I just didn't understand the pricing system. I ordered a coffee, took my toast to the table and came back for the drink only to be told by the lady behind the counter that I would have to pay for the coffee again. In the 2 minutes it took to take a seat she had already forgotten me! Seriously? You are going to hold up my morning caffeine intake lady?! The staff didn't have the grace to give out a hot drink to a paying customer. So, I'll continue with my tale of woe. The staff, although friendly, don't really understand customer service. "Yes, of course I can make you a Martini.... erm, what is actually in it?!" If you are asking, you shouldn't be making it. We ended up with a martini and tonic mixed with olive juice. Weird! So finally to the weird and wonderful rooms. I had one of their many disabled rooms, and it was a little strange to shower with a seat in it and have red strings everywhere (the ones you pull if you need help). It's nice that they have these rooms but they didn't give me a choice or tell me it was going to be like that. I would have said something but there isn't a reception where you feel you can do this. I also had a really noisy room, I could hear people walking along the halls and a strange dripping noise. All very weird. But I guess this is what you get on a budget. It's miles above a travel lodge even though the prices are not too different, but still I think I like regular hotels, with made beds and reception desks and staff who know how to make a Martini.

Yelp
There are many reasons I will stay at citizenM hotel *every single time* I come to Glasgow. 1. It's £60 2. There's fast and free wifi 3. Free movies and, ahem, adult selections 4. It's £60 5. Plush towels 6. Incredible bedding 7. A great lobby layout with a stylist bar and plenty of work space 8. It's £69 9. Free printers 10. Eames chairs and ottomans in the lobby 11. Rainfall showers 12. Incredible marketing on their soap and shampoo And have I mentioned that it's £60? Yes, sometimes the technology failed me - the disco dance party did wake me up in the middle of the night and I could not seem to get my shade down at a very inopportune moment, but considering the price and what you get for it, citizenM is ALL WIN.

Yelp
"Do you have a bell tower?" "Sure. Just use your card to retrieve your suitcases." "My door card?" "Yes." "OK cool... You don't need it back?" "No you just use that." If you love IKEA you would love here. It is like an upper scale IKEA. I felt like I was on the film of Lost In Translation whenever I entered my room. Small. Incredibly trendy so trendy in fact that my bed spread was not made but fashioned in some interesting origami structure everyday. The shower was like Studio 54 with the changing lights but alas no Debbie Harry on a white horse. No place to hang my clothes. No kettle. Breakfast was expensive and disappointing, it always ran out of things. The bar can't make a martini. The middle aged folks that I got chatting to in the lifts, at the bar, lobby (several different ones on different occasions) were not enamoured. Put it this way, it caters to a certain age group - my parents would cry out of frustration there as reasonably priced as it is. If you are comfortable with remotes, checking in yourself etc rock on. The staff for the most part are great. Extremely friendly but let's return to the conclusion on my opening paragraph... "Hi, my luggage is being stored, here's my card." "That's a room card." "I was given that by your colleague." "In hotels you are given a ticket, we can't just give out luggage." "I am familiar with hotels and this is what I was given to get my suitcase - do you want me describe it? Do you want me to show you my id?" "Describe it." So I did. She got it. "Now remember next time you ask for a ticket for your suitcase." Her attitude pissed me off. "Darling there won't be a next time. I know how to use a bell tower, I have stayed in hotels before." Just not for me but hey that's just me. It's A-OK cause it's staff drive it up that star even if one of them decided to preach to me. For the most part they are grand but it's just barely getting that extra star.

Yelp
This stylish, self-service hotel fills a niche in modern travel: it has free, easy access WiFI all over the hotel, incredibly affordable rates, fabulous beds, large common areas, and quick check-in and check-out. I'm sure there are several dozen hotel chains looking to tap into the same budget conscious, style savvy traveler that are drooling over Citizen M's success. I spent several nights here on a business trip and was pleased with the experience, but I would not recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway. The pod-like rooms are narrow and charmless, with the sink and shower literally in the center of the room. The design is all about efficiency, so you don't want to spend one extra minute lounging about (even if the bed is pretty damn comfortable). A couple of other areas that need improvement: the bartenders and the breakfast. When I asked for a dirty vodka martini, the bartender asked if I wanted sparkling water or Sprite in my drink (uhhh, what??), and the breakfast buffet is a non-negotiable tener. Even if you just take a scoop of eggs you need to pay the full price.

Yelp
I like funk. Not the bad smells, but the music. In fact, I'm listening to funk right now, and it's funky. It makes you want to dance, it pumps you up, it makes you feel good. Citizen M is like funk. As I approached the hotel in my taxi I could tell this place was going to be my kind of stay. Although it's slightly odd that there is no check in desk as you enter, since the lobby is on the first floor, it's a striking building inside. Quirky sofas, grey and red colour scheme, mental lampshades, mini-elephant chairs. This stuff makes me happy. Even though it's meant to be a self service hotel there was a lovely girl waiting to give a hand to anyone who wanted to check in. It was a simplistic and easy process and although I was a little disappointed that my room was small it was a pretty great room. I was being greedy; it was plenty space-full. The shower cubicle has a cloudburst shower head, which I love as it feels like a waterfall, and the bed is pretty gargantuan. Awesome heavy duvets and soft pillows combined with the block of mattress to make comfort-heaven. It's a shame I didn't get more sleep while I was here! A small note to those who also, like me, didn't bother to use the welcome instructions. Don't try to work out the remote just before you go to bed. I managed to accidentally turn on some kind of rainbow laser show, when trying to turn off the television, and it took me a good twenty minutes to rectify. (Imagine drifting off to sleep and then a shocking pink beam begins to emanate from the shower cubicle at the touch of a button. Which then goes to red, blue, yellow, green, turquoise and so on, until you finally figure out how to switch it all off... ) The prices are all pretty stumped up, as you can expect, but a double croissant breakfast with orange and water bottles came in at around a fiver which isn't so bad. All the staff I encountered were awesome; the bar staff gave me a free beer when they realised they'd cleaned away a half full one that I was nursing, and were incredibly friendly to boot. Another boon is the free wifi, which is something you can't always count on in hotels, so that's pretty darn cool as well. Free movies, half of which are blockbusters, t'other half are naughty films. (Not something I was particularly pleased with, but what can you do?) Awesome sofa area, macs set up for those sans laptops, BBC news 24 playing out, great location close to the shops. All the right stuff. Anyway, I'm going on and on. It was a great stay. Thanks Citizen M, I hope to be back! Thanks Glasgow, I think we'll be friends.

Yelp
That bed could fit like 5 of me in. No lie. I actually came across CitizenM when I was doing that bankside project back in July, and because I was working a project and lived in London, I promised myself, if I ever get the chance, I want to stay at a citizen M, for the gadgets alone. I mean, the whole room is controlled by one remote control. And I spent a good hour mucking around with that. I loved this place, comfiest bed ever, and so big I could lie STAR SHAPED and still not reach the ends of the bed. (No short jokes, people, please!), free wifi and a colour changing shower, with a tropical mode light combination which made me feel happy, especially when it felt quite chilly on a Glasgow evening. Also it was around £65 when I booked, (I did book like 2 days in advance) and the beds and everything felt luxury for that price so I can't complain. But I do have one or two things I didn't like. The sink fluorescent light makes me look haggard. Like I was scared from my own reflection, just looking at my stress lines, and the sink was tiny, I knocked over a few lotions a couple of times, I mean, my stuff literally took up ALL the sink space, what if I came with another person. That would be like PRODUCTS OVERLOAD! I did enjoy my stay here, it was so fun to stay in! I would definitely recommend it to the modern traveller. (as in not your mum or grandma... who don't work well with technology!)

Yelp
I stayed here the night before I got married... I was looking for an excuse for ages and the boy proposed so my excuse presented itself! The rooms are fantastic, except it takes a while to get used to the remote, there was myself and 2 other couples staying here in our group, all of which managed to turn their room out of something out of an adult movie by getting stuck on 'romance mode' - hilarious but the music is loud and you do feel a bit conspicuous. I slept terribly, but I doubt thats the bed's fault lets be honest, I was a wreck! The bar is great, theres plenty of little areas to sit in that makes it feel like you are in an IKEA show catalogue, there were 10 of us sat around the night before and we fit in pretty easily, so easy in fact we meant to go for food, didnt and ended up going to the chippy for my pre-wedding supper! Now to find more excuses to stay there....

Yelp
I think this hotel is highly overrated. I don't understand why people enjoy this place as much as they do. The rooms are uncomfortably small and don't provide amenities a proper hotel provides. You'd be better off staying at an Airbnb or hostel. Choose wisely and don't stay there.

Yelp
Hotel bars in the main suck. They offer crap drinks at stupidly expencive pricing. Not this place. Yes the prices are a little higher than normal, but they do offer a pretty darn fine selection. After popping in for a few after an xmas party at the Society M workshare, I was pleased/shocked to find bottles of Brewdog on offer. Nice one! Sure the seating is a bit on thr trendy side, but the service (as it is throughout the entire hotel itself) was awesome. So much so that the girl behind the counter remembered who I worked for, my drinking companions name and company and what state we were in the last time we popped in... ahem, maybe that's not a plus point. A hotel bar that's pretty good? Surely not!

Yelp
Britain has crap hotels. There I said it. My first experience in a British hotel was crappy. And it really sucked Why did it suck? I was stuck in a "boutique" hotel with a an owner that had a thing for dolls. A lot of dolls - with eyes that followed you across the room. Citizen M is a breath of fresh air in a British Hotel Industry that has sucked for a really long time. Aging carpets are gone. Long winding hallways - are gone. Crappy ornaments - - - - are gone What you get is a simple online booking experience, a decent room and comfy bed. What else do you want? Wake up in a place that does not make you think "why the hell am I staying here". Easy Simple Why stay with psychopaths?

Yelp
My company put me up here. Check in was OK, kinda like the self check in kiosk at the airport. My credit card didn't work (the one that gives me miles) but eventually got that sorted out. Rooms are nice, spartan. It's kind of like sleeping in an Ikea catalog. The mood pad thing ... gimmicky. But whatever, the price is reasonable. My A/C worked fine. Just set the temp on the mood thing. The bar/restaurant is nice. Staff is VERY enthusiastic, I think they've all drunk the Citizen M koolaid. Kinda like going into an Apple store if it were a hotel. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Yelp
Probably the nicest "budget" hotel of all time. For less than 60 pounds you get access to a state of the art hotel. Fantastic common areas, with high-end furnishings and plenty of lounge and relax/work areas. Check-in is super high-tech---you literally self-check yourself into the hotel. Rooms are high-tech as well. You have a "magic" remote that controls the entire room. You can set the color/lighting of the room---with seemingly endless shades available. You lower the shades with the remote. You control the TV with 100s of free on-demand movies available (including free adult flicks) with the remote. The beds are fantastic---really fantastic. Why 4 stars and not 5? Well the rooms are microscopic. If you get claustrophobic---this is not the place for you. Your bed touches 3 of the walls of the room---that should give you a sense for the size. It's not really suitable for sharing. Location is handy, on the northern end of Glasgow city centre.

Yelp
I had a fantastic experience at Citizen M. the staff are super friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and are great for those of us who don't want to pay for things we don't need, such as toiletries ( they do have soap and shampoo) bell hops or room service. Lights, media and blinds are all controlled by an iPad. Wifi is included in your fee to stay. I spent almost every evening in the lobby after being out and about, because it's so comfortable. Feels like you are visiting someone's home, not stuffy like other hotels. The location is close to transit and lots of shops/ restaurants. I hope they eventually expand. I'm typically not a hotel goer, but I would love to stay in a Citizen M at in any city I visit.

Yelp
Welcome to the future. You check in yourself. You use your hotel key in the restaurant and bar to purchase stuff. You have an iPad that controls the room (which has mood lighting and free movies and a big comfortable bed). Onsite laundry is actually affordable too. It's a bit funky but totally awesome. There's not a ton of space but the rooms are really nice.

Yelp
Remember those movies you'd watch as a kid, when everything set in the future would involve remote controls, neon lights and pods in which you sleep or go to the bathroom? You didn't think that stuff would happen until at least 2050 or suchlike, surely. Well, step into Citizen M dearies, because here is that filmic future! Yes, enter your sleeping pod. Initially the first thing that catches your eye is the enormous bed. Square. You can sleep on it at any angle. You could face your wall-mounted TV, you could rest your head against the window... the huge window, the blinds of which are outside of the glass and operable via a switch on the wall near the bed. Yep, just remember to do that before you step out of your shower pod. Space-saving is the name of the game here, and rather than silk sheets, plush velvets and rich colours, it's bright, robotic and utopian. It reminds me of those documentaries about Japan I used to see. Even the check-in desk isn't a desk, but a row of large touch-screen computer screens. It's affordable hotel luxury, but it's a very different, modern, uber-cool kind of luxury. I slept like a baby last night on my gargantuan marshmallow square of a bed, and I thoroughly enjoyed playing around with the varied light themes before I nodded off. Citizen M, you're quirky, and you're alright by me. I look forward to my cosy next three nights here!

Yelp
Really impressive hotel. The styling inside is very futuristic but with an arty flare. The rooms are pretty much entirely automatic and are all controlled from a remote. They also have huge beds this is good for mattress monkeys like me. For an extra supplement you can acquire yourself a late check out and a breakfast which i highly recommend. Getting up early is less than ideal. Downstairs they have a funky bar in which you can enjoy a drink whilst reading some of the hotels vast literature. Last time the dior fashion book taught me all about avoiding tones this autumn.

Yelp
Amazing Hotel. Very chic, high tech and trendy. Staff is very helpful, friendly and do their best to make your stay a great one. They have computers and a printer for use in the lobby as well as great lounge areas with big flat screen TVs. Rooms are very modern, sleek and come with all the gadgets someone would need. Interactive TV, iPod/iPhone doc which is useful for charging as well as playing music. The bathroom is perfect in size and includes bath liquid in two varieties and variable lighting. The rain shower head is also a nice touch. And the best of all the price is very reasonable and you can add on a very inexpensive but full breakfast option for less than eating out in the area. As noted by others the drinks at the bar are also cheap. Overall my stay was perfect and a nice change from the overpriced, bare bones places i was staying at in London.

Yelp
After finding myself stuck in Glasgow due to snow, I booked in here last minute, having enjoyed previous stays at a rate of £67.15, which I found good value compared to other options I explored. Rooms super-comfortable as usual - the enormous bed and duvet are a real luxury, although I only had 2 pillows, with no spares in the drawers. I am sure if I had asked for more I'd have been given them with no problems, but I was too tired to bother after travelling all day. The showers are fabulous, as are the free movies and wifi - why more hotels can't do free wifi I will never understand - it's like a basic human right these days! (oh, I understand - all about the benjamins). I didn't have breakfast, but did grab a sandwich from the bar which was really tasty. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat - hopefully I'll be snowed out of home again soon! Room Tip: Good views of Glasgow from the higher floors

Yelp
Found this place on line and absolutely loved it. Great price for downtown Glasgow. Definitely join their membership/loyalty club as you get two free drinks and a better room rate. The only issue I see with this location is a lack of onsite parking - which is a pain, but I loved the decor, the food, the bar, the huge open spaced were you could just relax on both the ground and first floors. The rooms are different - the bathroom is kind of in a plastic "pod", but has really cool lights and all of the controls (temp, lighting, TV) are controlled from a Samsung Android tablet. I am for sure going to stay with this chain again - after 20yrs in field sales (in the UK and USA) it is great to find a hotel as unique as this.

Yelp
What a hotel: super stylish architecture, lobby with a self check in like an airport and a nice Scottish girl telling me everything about my room, free wifi and other cool things that I did not understand a word about. Living three years in North America really doesnt help you with the Scottish accent at all, however, it sounds so pretty that it really doest matter too much. My room has everything you can ask for, nice shower, shampoo (two different kinds for AM and PM showers!!), a European power plug (!), nice TV and a wonderful bed that is big enough even for me. I dont know my way around Glasgow yet but it seems to be located right in the city center so the location is excellent as well. If you ever come to Glasgow, thats the hotel you should check in.

Yelp
For a while, I found myself booking into Citizen M on a regular basis after gigs and the like in Glasgow. It was always a fun experience to stay in the hotel. Of course, it is still fun, but I now feel that a four star review better reflects my thoughts, hence the update down from five. I have several reasons for this: - There's a novelty aspect to the room, and once you've stayed here a few times, this wears off. The rooms are all the same, so you're getting just about the same experience each time. I felt a little bit dissatisfied with every visit. - Occasionally, there were small problems with the electric controls of the room, like the remote control or the movie selection. This is such a huge part of the experience, that if something isn't quite working, it's a little disappointing. - You could literally check in and check out from Citizen M without one hint of human interaction; something I thought, at first, was convenient and fast. However, I do think that a huge part of staying in a hotel is the welcome you receive. I've felt that my past few stays were lacking in something, and I think this may just be it. Still, a solid four star hotel for me.

Yelp

Yelp
The experience begins immediately at check in, self service kiosks. There is someone there to help first timers. The rooms: in a word; eclectic. The space is not big. There is smart use of every inch of the room. Technology hits you with a smart TV remote that controls everything! There is a room light feature that is hard to explain. You have the ability to adjust the color to fit your mood. I hit some button on the remote that created a music/light show in the room. Crazy! The bed literally takes up the entire space between the side walls. Big and comfortable! The shower is awesome as well! Down side is that the room is not set up for an extended stay. NO closet at all to hang more than 1 set of clothes. Oh well. The common space: again, smart use of space! There are several areas offering retreat pods with many different furniture and decoration options. The bar is also a restaurant and meeting area that seems to work. Large table with half a dozen of iMacs for use. Free wifi keeps one connected! The price is reasonable, rooms clean, attentive staff and atmosphere that makes you feel part of the "family". In my opinion well worth the price! The only reason I don't rate a 5-star is inability to unpack for an extended stay.

Yelp
If not the best one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. What a pleasure, free.....FREE movies and Internet. It's about time. They are coming to America. Competitors beware. What a great concept. This is the future of hotels. I want to go back to Glasgow just to stay at this hotel. The staff was amazing. A few stands outs. Kirsten, Steve and bald Chris and Lindsey. Kirsten actually went and picked up fish and chips for me when I want sure where to go. WOW. WHO DOES THAT. amazing. Chris and Steve showed there expertise at the bar and Lindsey was a pure saint at check in. I live this place and will talk about how great it is for the rest of my life.

Yelp
Fantastic hotel, based on a very standardized, boutique experience for the millennial, the huge bed and internet comes standard; while floor space is smaller, everything inch is used maximally. For those desiring a traditional space, this is decidedly not for you... but this is essentially a luxury dormitory space, with everything keyed to your card - just like your ID card during university. Enjoy!!!
